why is my map still small?

Yes, it is supposed to be larger. Have you downloaded the required mods for it? (content patcher, space core, etc.)

Mod updates come out on ModDrop like a week before it does on Nexus I think. Launching SMAPI should let you know if any of your existing mods has an update available along with a link. I just copy and paste it in the browser.

1.8.0 is the newest on moddrop which I believe is what I have
if you want to try the newest SVE version from moddrop you can manually download it without using the manager
the nexus version is older, moddrop has a newer version for some time for reasons

@toxic ridge there are two mods that are trying to add maps with the same name, ForestRoad, so neither one is working. Unfortunately the log does not specify which mods are responsible, just that they are probably TMXL content packs.
When mods don't choose very unique names for the maps they add, this can happen
You also have a number of Json Assets errors for duplicate items added by different mods, but those are unrelated to the map problem you're having

They may have off schedules, stand in weird spots. You can check to see if they have SVE compatible versions

Nope, no issues, SMAPI automatically cleans up stuff when you remove NPCs

Here is my big question: For mods, can you sort them out in the 'mods' folder? If so, how many folders deep can you go before the game stops reading them? (I'm considering having folders for 'Custom Furniture' 'Content patcher' to have an easier way of sorting out mods.) - I noticed some of my mods are in extra folders but the game doesn't seem to mind it(?)

but things break for your computer if any full filepath name gets too long
so shorter or reasonable length folder names will allow you to nest more deeply
don't be like the mod that's named (A) Abigail - The Extended Unrated Director's Cut 8K Gold Limited Edition - Abigail Still Eats Quartz (White Gold Edition) 
Smapi stops recursing when it hits a manifest.json file, so you can't put one mod inside another's folder

@fair vessel Thank you! I'm likely going to keep them really short when it comes to folders like 'FC', 'CP', just so I have a bit of clarity! That really helps though, at least I can tidy things up a bit! also oh my lords that name ahaha.
@toxic ridge there are several errors that say an item was added by 2 different mods. Json Assets (JA) can't do that, and it'll throw everything off. The first red errors mention which 2 mods are trying to add the same item; remove one and it should correct the issue. Likely you'll want to remove the Distillery one instead of Artisan Valley

@toxic ridge it seems your log is reporting problem with various JA content packs where they add new items and stuffs, so you might want to check if you have those dupe, or not updated
or some other mod is trying to access the items in one of the JA content pack, and not able to reach it, due to you missing those packs, or they are outdated

If he has less mods and its working perfectly fine, then the problem might lie in one of your mods that required another JA content pack for it to work, so you might want to check the install page of those and see if you have get all the requirements

longevity is known to be buggy
so if you have any errors related to it, don't be surprised

@unreal torrent so after a read over, the SVE mod couldnt be load, which cause your game save, which probably have victor as a spouse to crash because the game SVE is not working so it cant find vicor spouse room
The problem lies in dependencies loop in manifest file, so you can only wait for the author to fix it after reporting in

some parts of SVE aren't loading because of the circular dependency. you can remove the dependency on a toned down stardew valley yourself from the manifest.json files of sve
or from the atdsv manifest
i reckon it should be patch by the author in a week or so, so if you r not confidence, just wait
So on nexus I try to download hardew valley & it recommended cp(android), it directed me to playstore but playstore on infinite loading lol

I downloaded this mod https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/753, started my savefile, saw it wasnt working, closed my save without saving, unistalled the mod, reopen the savefile on the same day, and the problem appeared

@stuck vortex it's ok! Perhaps DSVO isn't compatible with SVE then, I'm not familiar with both of thoseI'm not sure if SVE has a setting to be compatible with DSVO. It's also not listed as an incompatibility on the SVE install troubleshooting section https://github.com/FlashShifter/StardewValleyExpanded/wiki/Troubleshooting#incompatible-mods
Hopefully someone else will be able to say something here. Otherwise, in the meantime, try temporarily removing DSVO and see if you still get the error

I too went through a phase of being like "do I really need to have multiple building recolors and swap them out?" and then discovered Customize Exterior, which lets me swap building mods real time while in-game 
it killed me to let the harvest goddess go π¦ I loved that mod

Ah, actually I'd guess the problem wasn't Aquarium / Train Station so much as SVE + Aquarium + Train Station lol or potentially another map mod, if you have any. Although I thought Flash had fixed the incompatibility between SVE and Aquarium o:

oh, no I didnt ask about it, I just chalked it up to me probably missing something. I'm guessing the tailor mouse needs other clothing mods to work? I only picked it up thinking I could be lazy with not needing to use the dewing machine

Facepalms it all works now. I spent two weeks (at least when not working irl) stressing trying to figure which mod gave me so many non-pinpoint-errors and clashes of schedules.
Believing that it couldn't be the Aquarium and.. It was the aquarium making all the other mods not want to work-

if you're able to get an error log with the errors, and then removing it removes all the issues, I recommend reporting it on the Aquarium mod page's Bugs section
I definitely might? But even when I went through trace, it was doing real weird stuff. Marnie's schedule was messing up and.. Now I have none of that error at all, can access all the areas and they all show up. (the boarding house path wouldn't even show up while the mod was in)
I shown the error log on here a few times and no one could figure the issue, or the issue of my 'eternal black screen'
It's definitely odd, not sure what set it off, or which mod might be incompatible(?)

if removing Aquarium and Train Station only was sufficient to fix the issues, then it's possible to make the suggestion that those 2 plus your mods are going π₯
I did submit my log to aquarium and they literally said huh, they don't know, maybe update mods? (irony) - But yeah I think I'm going to write and explain it works fine until those mods, and maybe state which mods were going crazy when it was in?

so if it still happens after you update mods, then we can rule that out

i think i saw your log on the aquarium bug report page @dire fractal , i was thinking its initially start by the "[NPC] Xiddavs ChildtoNPC for SVE, and Mod crashed when editing asset 'Characters/Farmer/hairstyles' from Get Glam
which then creating a chain reaction
Yeah! I removed the childtonpc, and to be fair getglam ALWAYS gives me that but the hairs work well!
But yeah it was me yes!
In the end, I removed the aquarium mod, and the train station and everything works fine?? no more black screens and getting stuck, boarding house is visible etc.

I think I might've assumed it was compatible with most from their description so I didn't even consider it being the 'culprit'
so base on the error log from the aquarium part, i would say it was trying to start up an event the moment you load your game, but that fail

yea that's why I was like, definitely back up your save first, and temporarily remove SVE and all its things, but that's definitely where the ridiculous levels of patience and my scientist
brain come together and has flashbacks to spending 5 days troubleshooting Skyrim and Fallout New Vegas issues 
see I made a folder just for SVE and put all SVE stuff into it XD I also made a requirements folder so any mod that was added specifically for requirements go in there. Then that folder has specifically SVE requirement mods as well so if I want to I can easily remove sve
though I probably wont cause I love the changes sve made... well except that "improved" farm. I don't like that layout

the only reason my Mods folder doesn't look like that is because it'd slow me down to update mods π but I did start grouping JA items
i tried it twice and I just didn't like various little stuff like the fencing that I cant move but clearly is meant for animals. the entire bottom left corner looks like a mess and I cant place flooring tiles in certain areas. The little patchy grassy areas Im not a fan of either.. man i really dont like that map haha its just a mess to me.

The dependencies one isn't too hard to update! I changed the SVE one, just took out Toned down out of dependencies by deleting all the lines for that mod

@rare quest dummy question, i'm looking through the SVE notes, but it doesn't say anything about what the harderbundles setting actually changes. Am I just missing something? I'm trying to figure out if I want to use that setting or set it to false and use this other harder bundles mod.
I haven't gotten around to making the guide for it yet, but in general, it adds slightly more quantities of each item while also adding SVE objects as completion requirements.

I'm using the Challenging Community Center Bundles mod, which is quite nice. https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/6361 Especially since i have a ton of extra crops that never felt important.
I like to keep SDV mods up to date though I haven't played in quite some time.
As a side note, I've been able to change CC bundles mods without issues. I've got one I've been tweaking as I play, and nothing has blown up 
One of the things I do wish was a mod for this game that exists in Harvest Moon: Light of Hope, is that sometimes, based on the terrain you plant them in and the season and the fertilizer you use, crops can mutate. Also a greater variety of fertilizers and an emphasis on it being important to use the right kind. a chance of crops withering if you plant them out of season and don't use the right fertilizer.
As a question for Customize exterior, do you need the original mods (yellog's etc) in game, or is it after you place the pngs etc in the CE mod folders, that's that?

Another question for CE, Elle's buildings have loads of colour and material variants from what I've seen.- Does every variant need their own folder, or does that apply to seasonal variants only?

Elle's Buildings... don't those ones have tons of components and overlays and things? They may not be easy to use with CE (you might have to merge layers for your chosen settings yourself in an image editor first)

The mod description / install instructions / changelog usually specifies if it's absolutely critical you remove the old files before installing the new ones
If you're using the ModDrop client, installation is automatic.
i have 8 updates out 102 so trying get my mods up to date before the new 1.5

Yea ModDrop and Vortex add some convenience, presumably, because they're mod managers, but for whatever reason, they're quirky with Stardew Valley, so I stick with manual install

For learnings
each component does a different thing. So the JA component (Json Assets) adds the actual recipes, and the MFM component (Mail Framework Mod) adds the mail letters that you get for some of those recipes (I say some because idk if it's all)

So this is embarrassing. I was playing through an event, and then screen went fully black, like, off, but I can still here the atmospheric sounds. The computer doesn't respond to clicks or keypresses or anything. I'm in denial but I think I just have to do a hard reboot

@royal arrow what event is it? I set some to viewport -100 -100 true without realizing that it couldnt handle that and may not have managed to fix them all. However it should not kill your computer!
you need to change the config.json, which will show up after you run the game once like vibel said! leave the content.json alone, that's the file that will tell the config what options to output
you will most likely still want to shorten the folder name as well after you redownload it

hmmm @earnest gate are you and the other players all using the exact same mods? it sounds like either there's someone with an extra JA mod/missing a JA mod, or your ids got scrambled

the issue is definitely from JA, the only question is whether one of you has an extra or missing mod, or whether JA has just scrambled your item IDs around
the mods throwing errors are most likely unrelated to the real issue, which is the glitched item--they're probably erroring due to something that's gone wrong with the items

anyone else having problems getting the grandpa's shed questline to start? I have all of the house updates. before i installed the mod tho, i didn't clear out my old shed...could that be the problem?
I have it where some fish like the catfish on the screenshot, won't properly show it's fishing location

check in the top part of the mod's content.json where it says ConfigSchema, it will say what the allowed values are! it's not standardized between mods, so that's the only way to know what that specific mod uses

Is there a list of which portraits are used and when? I have seasonal outfits and anime seasonal portraits, but sometimes it is the vanilla seasonal and sometimes just the anime seasonal. I've come to the conclusion that i appreciate anime more than vanilla, so i was wondering if if i deleted the seasonal vanilla files, if the anime ones would take over or i would break it all. One solution is also to copy paste and rename them all, but that would take a bit longer so i just want to know, thanks ^^
well if you delete portraits, it will most likely show the vanilla ones (not svo) when it's used? (sorry if that's confusing)
hey all. it's been a little while since i had played and im updating everything. actually i redoing my whole list. but ive ran into a problem, Flower Valley for ContentPatcher 4.2.4 because its dependencies have a circular reference: A Toned Down Stardew Valley => Stardew Valley Expanded => Flower Valley for ContentPatcher => A Toned Down Stardew Valley).

A lot of the unupdated mods have been updated, it's just the file versions don't match so it gives errors, however I have no idea how to change that
(I think it's just sve and tractor that actually need to be updated)

Yes! I have the mod that allows you ingame to check versions and went through basically all of them while using smapi compatibility site too!

from what I can see in the log the error seems to be J&J's fault, it says there's an error in an xml document there
I'm not mod-literate enough to know what that means though, we may have to get the opinion of one of the Cheetos aka Actual Modders
Yeah like you can see here, while they say they're 'out of date', a lot of them actually in theory are the right version. Def will get to their manifests and fix some numbers up.
Also yeah I'm not mod literate myself, so I think seeing if one of the Cheetos can help out! It's meant to in theory be somewhat compatible.

If I make folders like this and put all the stuff inside it like PFM, JA and etc. will it work properly if there are other mods depending on them. Like some recipes?
SMAPI looks for the βmanifestβ file then stops looking deeper in the file tree. As long as there is no βmanifestβ in the base folder, you can organize those mods however you want.

Winrar decided it break as I was trying install smapi and now I can't use it or delete the file. -.- I uninstalled winrar and restarted my laptop after getting a new unzip program and I still can't use it.

If you wanted to temporarily fix it find the bit in the code that loads the theater door and /* */ it out. It won't break anything to remove it. It's just decoration.

My anti virus is blockin the new Smapi installer for windows and calling it a threat. Pretty sure thats why i cant install it. i tried deleting it and reldownloading it and its still doing it.
I need to fix 3 other little things (I can't remeber what they ate but I've tweaked em. One was Jessie's egg festival postion in SVE, another a schedule error where I'd missed the 1 in 17...) and add an update key too. Plus I should really overwrite some of Jessie's Joja dialogue if SVE is installed or you've finished the Community center. Since she talks about working JojaMart!
Oh man, yeah I can totally see how unfortunate and amusing it would be with her talking about the JojaMart when itβs not there anymore! Thank you for working so hard and implementing fixes so that it works alongside other mods!
It was going to be SVE incompatible (because if her clashing with Claire) but I got talked into it. The implementation turned out requiring less than I expected (although I did outsource it but I had to help the person doing it. Shes the reason there are variations on the edits too.).
Question about Eemie's mods and Toned down valley, have any been updated yet or are they still good with the new versions of CP and such?
CP is forever backwards compatible with all its older content packs.
Honestly thank you? I did read about how someone helped out a bit, and I know itβs not always fun to make things compatible with other mods. I really like your NPCs though, and not gonna lie, having loads of lovely NPCs really makes the valley feel alive? I feel like thereβs a reason to go to Joja Mart because of fun workers there! Iβm really glad that itβs requiring a lot less than you expected though!
Toned down valley works pretty great, Minerva has them on Moddrop!
Iβm actually in love with Toned down valley, it really takes all those colours down to a very pleasing colour

Having interactions between NPCs is a really lovely thing for world building and I think the vanilla game doesnβt have much of it, so Iβd love to see that!

@outer turret well, the mod IS working now! I see the NPCs and I saw their house behind the community centre, I don't see a door however- Jojamart is set as false though (I have Nicolai)? The only major error I seem to have is NPC Jasper but not surprised since SVE edits Gunther etc and NPC Jasper also does. Haven't seen any errors regarding to Juliet & Jessie
