I did the mistake of choosing an MTN based map before I got into mods, but boy do I regret it now
it's functional enough to hide its bugs, but once the bugs come out...

my favorite part is how the host server crashes when a client that doesn't have MTN tries to join
Can I get some help about how to use Customize Exterior? 🥴 uhh.. I think I've set up everything right but when right clicking, no menu pops up. However, there are no errors in the log and it shows that it's selecting.. just that no menu is showing.

Did you put the png or xnb in the Buildings folder, named appropiately?
eg houses need to be named Houses.png or Houses.xnb

no it doesn't content patcher uses the name format [season]_[assetname]

I fixed it by restoring those items from the recycling bin

When using a CP mod, you put it in your Mods folder
When using Customize Exterior an example path would be something like

don't nest things 50 layers deep because Windows has a maximum filepath name limit
oh and if CE finds a valid building png or xnb during game start it outputs the subfolder name to the smapi log on the Debug log level which means it shows up in the console always
for seasonal things i have eg Stardew Valley\Mods\CustomizeExterior\Buildings\[CP] HobbitHoles\spring\houses.png
for the spring hobbithole house, and for the winter one it's Stardew Valley\Mods\CustomizeExterior\Buildings\[CP] HobbitHoles\winter\houses.png etc etc
Mine's the same way but there's a folder in between CP and the season name, which is the type of buildings there are.. like for example, for Hudson Valley, these would be the different style names like Amherst, Cobleskill, Stonybrook, etc..

Depends, what are the modification permissions allowed by both mods?
Making a mashup for personal use is always fine, but if you want to share it to be available to others you'll need to make sure you're following the permission restrictions of the original mods (or ask permission from both authors)
(also don't share stuff without having permission first)
Can you change languages of your mods (if they support any other languages)?
If they support other languages it'll change automatically based on what the games language is set to.

It will generate a config file after the first start there you can change between Clean, Mossy and Seasonal (Clean is set as default)

@thorn needle you have multiple copies of a lot of mods, that is the main issue
the error log lists the locations of the duplicate copies, so you can remove the extras

download the smapi folder
unzip (unarchive) the folder (put it somewhere like Desktop)
inside the folder there is a windows.bat file. double click it to run

windows can do it automatically for zips, just open the zip folder and drag or copy-paste out everything that was inside it
You can also use a program like 7zip (free) or WinZip
also just gonna get better fruit trees.

We don't pin mod updates except SMAPI/CP anymore due to issues with a previous pin. Releasing the mod update is almost like pinning it though.

Hi im having trouble installing SMAPI, im on mac and when I run the smapi installer it can't locate the Stardew executable even though it's on my desktop. I downloaded via GOG, not using their launcher though if that matters. appreciate any help
@little trellis try to give the installer the path "/Applications/Stardew Valley.app/Contents/MacOS" unless you chose a custom install path for the game, in which case it needs that
I was going to suggest moving the game to your applications folder too
It auto detects the default locations, since you've got it on your desktop it can't find it. You'll just need to give it the right path (or move it, yeah)
well, i meant giving that path to the smapi installer, but now i suppose the smapi installer would find it if it was there...
I’ve dropped the app into terminal to give it the path but it won’t recognize that, I’ll try moving it to the application folder though
are you sure it's the game executable in the desktop and not a shortcut or whatever the mac equivalent is?

has anyone had problems with Isla's introduction event part II that should happen after the first part? it should trigger in the beach when the player has seen the first part, it's friday/saturday/sunday, sunny, and when the time is between 6:10 and 9:00 am, but i couldn't get it to trigger with all the conditions met. i tried to start it with debug ebi but it just got me stuck in a dialog loop

yes and a blank menu with slots for spells i assume and such appear but i have no mana or the analyze spell

yeah but SVE has never been very user-friendly about old versions - they always get deleted from nexus as soon as a new one goes up

only source i know of that isnt down is git but it is fairly outdated and idk if it will work since im not sure if stuff needs to be compiled. https://github.com/FlashShifter/StardewValleyExpanded and its a little outdated. git says its on 1.10.8 current is 1.10.20 (not counting the broken new release of 1.11)

The only mod I can think of that edits that area is Zoro, but there aren't much custom tiles in that mod.

For Zoro's boarding house room, his room only edits the walls up to the door. You can open his .tmx file to check it out. The change of color for that part shouldnt be my doing

To my knowledge she has seen the 10 heart event, but is unable to buy the mermaid pendant. She is also unable to buy the bouquet, but another character bought it for her, allowing her to move past 8 hearts.
Does anyone know a fix for this / where I can find more information? The SVE wiki is not being very helpful.

you need to reach the 10h milestone for a vanilla NPC in order to obtain the pendant
then you can give it to any NPC, vanilla or custom
same with the 8h milestone with a vanilla NPC to buy bouquets
@lyric sundial WARNING though. A NON-HOST PLAYER MARRYING A CUSTOM NPC will crash your game
(again, not just SVE. This is true for a non-host player marrying any custom NPC)

Trying it now; seems like ModDrop currently only has a mod pack which links to Nexus to download 1.10. So the update doesn't seem to be on ModDrop either.

Just to clarify a couple things about this.
First, we are working hard on a new feature that will enable Mod Authors to have ModDrop find and remove old versions of their mod that were installed manually (or not by MD). This should resolve issues that arise when users have installed mods manually before switching over to using ModDrop.
SVE 1.11 is using a different file structure than previous builds and will be using MD’s new feature to ensure users to aren’t getting errors b/c of outdated files & folders lingering in their game directory.
It’s very important that this feature is full proof, and it’s taken us a longer than expected to iron out all the bugs, which has delayed the release of our next build. We expected to have it out last weekend, which is why Flash initially took the old version of SVE down from Nexus. Unfortunately this feature is taking a bit longer than expected, and b/c SVE 1.11 will be using the feature, it's been delayed.
Sorry for all the confusion around this. We're working around the clock to get everything working as expected so we can push the new build live.
My concern/issue is more of why not unhide the old version on nexus once it was obvious this wasn't going to be a quick fix? there are now a ton of people who want to try the mod and have no access to it and are even looking for alternatives when 1.10.2 could have been unhidden until everything got ironed out. i know yall are probably working on it as best you can but its been down since the 10th, if it was my mod as soon as it became a multiday problem id atleast reopen the old version so new people could still get the mod/didnt go looking for alternatives
Yeah, fully understand what you're saying. I can't speak to Flash's decision to not un-hide sve 1.10, but I feel we are partially to blame b/c we had expected the delay to only take a few more hours, not days.

Yeah you have to use default. It's an easy save file edit to switch maps, though.
Doesn't break the game, and you can use Reset Terrain Features mod and NoClip mod to tidy up things that land in weird spots after the switch

just curious what mods did you download recently and how was it triggered?
im just checking incase its something i myself experienced because i remember the game going black and essentially breaking from leaving the town and entering the farm from certain places due to the pytk mod having a bug which has been fixed now
so if that was your problem you would just need to update ptyk
other then that the only other major issue ive had was duplicate files of custom npcs which is because the SVE mod comes with that mod automatically installed which can be confusing
if the games not loading at all it could be due to an incompatible mod or possibly a lack of modding tool type mods associated with that mod
the error is uncommon, it looks like a memory issue and may not be related to mods ?
which is why i find its important to read all the bug bios in nexus and descriptions before downloading
like maybe something related to a file with overwrite permission or stuff like this

or it could be a change or backup in your system which changed the folder settings and now read and write isn't enabled anymore. Just right click the folder where your entire SDV is, chlick on properties and choose security. There should be a tick next to read and write.

Yep you can rename it and it'll be disabled. There's also ModGroups if you're looking to change loadouts https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Player_Guide/Getting_Started#Can_I_have_different_mod_groups.3F
You can also run directly from the normal StardewValley.exe if you want to play without mods.
yup! SMAPI will still run, but none of the mods will load, making your game basically vanilla with some extra error logging in the background. You can also launch the game through the original vanilla executable and have no SMAPI.
You may notice weirdnesses if going from modded to unmodded on the same save, depending on what you had installed. I think Json Assets (i.e. extra crops and items) is usually the main culprit there, or mods that change the game maps a lot (like SVE).

One way or another. It needs a portrait file inside the CP pack to work.
You can also have the high-res one in portraiture, but you need the base one to load

@faint wharf basically you need to add an image file called Lucas.png inside the [CP] NPC Lucas\portraits\ folder. It doesn't even really matter what the file is, since you are planning to use the portraiture version anyway. So you could throw a renamed copy of Harvey's portraits in if you wanted.
But if you do that, it will fix your portrait issues and your e menu issues at the same time.

Oh! I didn't even notice that. The shipping bin changed with 1.4 so it looks like the recolor mod you're using for the building isn't updated to 1.4.

Yeah, that's not the vanilla lid. But without knowing which mod it is exactly we can't take a look to see when it was last updated. A lot of Naver mods are XNB as well. They're starting to use Content Patcher but many older ones are still XNB.
Removing the Naver mod will probably solve the issue of the shipping bin being two different colors.
Yup. if it's xnb then there is not much we can do. The lid looks like the one from 'A Toned Down Stardew Valley'

that is soooo weird. With the dependency in the manifest it makes sure that the shipping bin is loaded after atdsv so there is no way it overwrites

Yea that drove me crazy when I was using conflicting mods, Jonqora lol because 1 mod replaced 1 version of the shipping bin and the other mod replaced the other version of the shipping bin 
Well, per Gwen, the bin is in 2 places, and the lid only in 1 o.o
not a fun fact: the bin that is on outdoors tilesheet and the one in the buildings are not properly centered and if you try to center them both one will have it's lid off by some pixels. That was making me mad while making the retexture xD

I think that's what happens when you wear clothes you added with Json Assets! The game/SMAPI doesn't load the assets until you load the save, or something. It's a little weird but harmless.

This is the folder structure for buildings that don't have seasonal variants (the file names have to be like this)
for ones with seasonal variants, the individual file names stay the same, but you have a folder for each season, like so

GetGlam adds new hairs but I hear they're broken currently. Most hairstyle mods are going to use CP which replaces the vanilla tilesheet. Some might extend it downwards which works but I can't think of any off the top of my head.

i was curious about what would happen if you didn't have write permissions on a folder where a CP mod tries to write config.json, and it wouldn't load the content pack: Error loading content pack 'Elle's Seasonal Buildings'. the data folder is generated after playing to store save specific data i'm pretty sure
🤷♀️ no idea lol. On two of mine it missed during uninstall of the old version (CP and FTM folders for if2) had save data files in them and that was it. the FTM stardew valley one was empty.

smapi is descending into the data folder to look for a manifest file because it didn't find it on the parent folder

inside the new install there is a FTM Stardew Valley folder with the data folder, but in the main there is also a content and manifest json file

okay, you do have the SVE FTM pack loaded, which is likely the folder that has the manifest etc. you were looking at, and the other folder is somewhere else in your mod setup
it doesn't matter though, unless it confuses a mod manager in case you use one

I've got SV setup with SMAPI all working 100% fine (thanks!) but am having trouble with Steam Broadcast.
Long story short, I get the steam overlay, game audio, can receive viewer messages, and see the viewer count, but it's just a black screen / Steam's "Please Stand By" screen. If I uninstall SMAPI I have no issues, so it does seem to be the cause of the "no video".
I've spent quite a bit of time on google / your wiki / forums etc. but was wondering if anyone here knows a solution?
@fleet marsh what pre req does it have? I think I only use it with STF, CP and TMXL which are all core frameworks anyway. You dont need BFAV
@outer turret It uses STF, which itself has Expanded Preconditions as a framework, along with I guess TMXL which I didn't actually end up getting because I wasn't aware it was required.
Even if they are core frameworks it turns one mod into 3, two of which I wouldn't have installed otherwise
And since I'm trying to package up and deploy the mods over to my friends before we play it's kind of a "the less, the better" sort of situation and keeping it in single digits and such
Ah a lot of things use Expanded Precon. Actually it think Imm Shane doesnt use tmxl
A lot of things, maybe, but my friends were pretty adamant about vanilla so I had to really make the case for some staples like the sprinklers mod and such
Shane was one I'm just sneaking in cuz I know a friend goes for Shane but was annoyed with how he was post-marriage
You may find other mods you like use them though. You can probably do it without the stf function.

I might, but when they're all pretty much mod versions and every single mod is kind of a potential point of failure by me not getting them set up right and having threefold blame laid against me I'd rather keep a light touch x.x

We are running co op on over 100 mods.
Yeah my mod list when I played with my other group of friends is a lot more extensive
If you add in PPJA crops it gets insane.
With this group it's a lot more of "what can I get away with" instead of "how can I change stardew into something else completely"
I don't even know that mod, but I'd believe it
It adds more crops and stuff.
SVE is still...far, far on the horizon for us, I imagine, in terms of what the benchmarks are for mod complexity
Also a challenge to uninstall.
Most other mods are fine to remove.
But ones that add actual items? Not so much.

I thought about trying to find an exceptionally good multiplayer farm but just gave up after a bit. So we'll probably all cram onto a standard farm
And I figure if we start feeling bold we can add more mods as we go.
Heck, I didn't even sneak in the female wizard mod, which I usually love.

@mighty bane look up, I think it's called Poly Friendly Events, by Minerva on Moddrop (I'm on my phone or I'd get you a link). Changes the 10-heart "cheating" events into poly-friendly ones.

multiple spouses is currently the most extensive poly mod, I highly, highly recommend it

Apparently there's a new version out, but everything's that's been posted on reddit is on moddrop, and... I'm only using Nexus.

Don't worry though, you can download it manually and continue using Nexus Mods as normal.
If you're using Vortex you can just drop the file into the "drop zone" at the bottom of the mods tab 🙂

Does anyone know what mod the Fern Islands are from and how to get there? I got a letter in the mail about them but it says nothing about how to get there lol.
fern islands are a canon location that you can't get to, similar to zuzu city in that regard

So I'm not having a good time. Using SVE, tried to go into the shed on the reimagined map, stuck at 'loading'. (Boarding house and walking to the desert mods also not working, but to be fair I expected that with the new update.)
edit: I deleted most of the NPC adventure mod, I might still have some lingering files though..
All my mods ARE updated (I updated all today, but there are some errors from certain mods that i guess from what I read on their pages have wrong versions written?)
I have a few crashes and angry red lines, so if anyone can make sense of this?? I'd be ever so grateful!

Ah, I see the mistake I made for that mod, it specifically needs to be added into moregiantcrops folder - Seems I didn't download that mod despite thinking I had it in there. (I really need to organise my mods better, it's so many-) Thank you for spotting that!

Looks like it might be missing the actual mod and you only have the translation
