I updated fizzy drinks, which has a new bigcraftable in it which threw everything off
there it is
And a bunch of others into glitchy messes, some worked fine but were animated wrong (using the wrong sprites) and then some did nothing. And one of those crashed the game if we picked it up.

It was an MP game a few months ago and adding another JA bigcraftable to the game let us pick up the glitchy mess safely iirc

@fair vessel I am backinterestingly, after locking the chickens in the coop, the white chicken laid an egg! 😱 why would the chicken need to be locked in the coop to lay eggs again?
My guess is that it's a pathing problem, something is screwing with it registering as having eaten when it went outside for grass

It's all over, including in front of the coop door, but you know the first few are always chomped first, so there's a tile or 2 empty

does anyone know how to fix this issue with the more than necessary (MTN) mod? i currently only have smapi and mtn installed while i tried to figure out which mod was causing this issue, so i can't figure out why it's doing this and it's a vanilla map

When he asks what kind of music I like it won't let me choose and just keeps bringing up that same dialogue. I have to skip the scene to move forward. Could it have to do with a CP dialogue mod?

Popping in to ask if anyone has a decent replacement for, or a working fix for, Better Fruit Trees?
It's over a year out of date on the nexus and the existing unofficial patch does not work

I'm able to put trees only one space apart and they grow, produce, and increase in quality. Unless that's part of vanilla now
There was a change in vanilla to let them increase in quality if stuff is blocking growth, and fixes to what counts as 'blocking' growth in general, so BFT has less effects overall, but still some functions
I'm surprised it works though 
my problem is the "no stuff within a 3x3 of the sapling", as I'm using Automate to try and well...automate them. But the path counts for some reason
thus, my first move was to try BFT
the unofficial patch is what I was pointed to by the SMAPI site
but it...didn't work?
Why not just wait til they are grown and then lay the paths for automate?
That's what I did. I waited until they grew then placed paths around them. Mostly just for looks. They still do their thing

Arinyl, that's basically "If you have a farm map that has its own compatibility patch, download the patch optional file instead of the main one. These farm maps include their own FarmCave.tbin and you need to replace their FarmCave in their asset folder with the Hot Springs Farm Cave."
this is to avoid a double-load error where two mods fight over loading the same asset and both lose

@shy orbit yeah they grow but grow slower. Better fruit trees lets you speed up the growth period, so when they "don't grow" they are actually growing at the vanilla game speed. I think it might be in the config...

if i download the better fruit trees mod, will it kick in for the fruit trees i already have planted? i've got my own little fruit tree orchard on the SVE immersive farm mod, but i've planted them in that corner where you often get forageables spawned.

it wsn't the config I saw the info in, it was a post on the nexus page "I'd also like people to be aware that this mod has some kinda cool functionality by accident. Basically this mod forces trees to grow regardless of their check. However if their clear check is successful the tre will grow twice. This means trees with just 1 space apart and wooden paths around them can grow to adulthood in 2 weeks. And these trees also need half the amount of time to heirloom. If your tree can't grow naturally you will get msg spam with some other mods. also, if you want to check the progress of trees etc, try lookup anything. When you hover your cursor over the tree and press the assigned lookupanything hotkey, it will show you exactly how much time before it matures. My plan today is to clean my room and then spend a while looking for fun mods to change the appearance of buildings and decorate the inside of the farmhouse. If I were to get a mod, for example, the medieval buildings - would that alter the appearance of the shed that comes with the immersive farm SVE mod?

Someone please help me. I download smapi and content patcher. Plus 6 other apps. They need the keyboard. I've read the wiki, reddit etc. It says to use a text editor to change the config. But it DOESNT say which text editor. PLEASE recommend one for me. I tried 4 and one wanted money to basic open the app and the other 3 couldn't open the file. I'm on mobile.
Notepad should work just fine if all you're doing is changing the config

I'm not sure if it works with Android, but the latest release of Content Patcher enabled changing the config file within the game.

Not all mods are compatible with Android unfortunately.
Especially ones that need keypresses.

Have you tried the Mobile Phone mod maybe? I'm not sure if the dev worked out the issues with Android, but you can add an "app icon" for CJB Cheats to at least open it up.
You can use keybindings on Android, you just have to change them from the defaults usually. Which is the issue they’re having

Hello, fellow Stardew Valley players. Since I was not able to get the Child Age Up Mod to work no matter what I tried, I went to the Children Take After Spouse with the additional customize content. How do I access the various hair styles, clothes, etc? All our kids have purple hair.
Did you download v1 or v2?

I had problems personally with the distillery profession working as well. It should pop up when you sleep, that morning it pops up and you should be able to pick, try that!
My problem was it popped up every time I slept and I got annoyed and turned off the profession, I still use the winery

@dapper pulsar I just have a quick question about the new version of Expanded Farm. For the basic farm I was using the one that seems to be called Default. So that's what I put in the config, correct? Just want to make sure that won't make it default to the vanilla farm.
Default will make it the vanilla farm. Ace will make it my version of it. I should probably come up with a better way to explain that...
Okay, so the first image on Nexus that says Default is yours. Which, if so, good job on it. One of my fave maps.
@gentle glen I just drop in the new folders and replace the old ones, but I'm on Mac and I think Windows might handle that differently, I'm not sure. No harm in deleting the entire old folder (minus config file if there is one, just move that to the new folder) and dropping in the new one if you're nervous.

Fizzy drinks doesn't have a mega pack. Only the actual Art Soda one does.

You should, otherwise fizzy drinks wouldn't work. Also the files for those two mods are combined in a folder. There's like 3 or 4 folder per mod.
There's one for JA, one for MFM, one for PFM..

Custom Farming is kind of not used much anymore. PFM has taken over in its place. What mods are you using that require CFR?

howdy yall, i tried booting up stardew valley today and for some reason windows defender told me smapi is some virus all of a sudden? this hasnt happened before today and now when i try to reinstall smapi, windows defender refuses to let me, do yall have any idea whats up?

INTERESTING~ If I use the pickaxe on it from the top side, I'm able to pick them up with no issues, so it seems the errors are related to trying to right click it to pick it up (with the little green plus symbol that pops up, like for earth crystals and quartz)

You should delete one of them, either is fine. Your other errors should sort themselves out once Artisanal Soda Makers is loading properly.

Those errors won't cause any problems with your save data.
That's generally true of anything that only changes or replaces textures (animated or not)
Yes it's something with the animated portraits. It might be the known error that's been mentioned by the mod author, not sure.

must have been a random crash
having a bit of an issue with what i assume is SMAPI freezing the folder and not allowing me to delete it, which is a bit of a problem if i want to replace my new saves with the old ones
except that, SMAPI shouldn't be running
the game is closed
the file being frozen seems to be the log for SMAPI
but SMAPI isn't running in processes
a restart fixed it but uh, still... odd issue
I still wish key configs went into their own separate file.

To each their own, I went from 1 to 405 in about a year, and made some mods along the way as well. Seems a mod count that high (and as high as ExnoticTest) is actually rare, although we have a mini unofficial "club" lol
im not against suggestions. i just have basic things like - no fence or friendship decay, range view for sprinklers and scarecrows, lookup anything, UI info suite, ladder locator, things like that.

PFM seems to a be a popular framework from what im seeing.
@forest cave That one still works and very well from what I've heard. Only the host needs to install it.
The only downsides would be a crowded farm if you have a buttload of players 😛 Use one of the bigger farm map mods and you should be all set.

Hey, so I'm trying to use a Less Yellow Stardew Valley, the ContPatch one
and I'm trying to use Light dirt, grass 1, except with grass 2 for fall
so I've replaced the grass 1 fall tilesheet with the grass 2 tilesheet, and as far as I can see, it should be using the new tilesheet, but I'm still getting grass 1.
any ideas why it would still be using the old tilesheet? I flat out replaced it in the assets folder, so the old tilesheet isn't even there.

Mint leaves should make mint tea, going off of memory here. Green tea is now a vanilla item from the base game tea leaves.

How come the spawning for the giant flower crops seem to be so much higher than the 3x3 i've tried to get spawn since the start of season? I'm mid-season right now on it.
I'm using the... PPJA More Giant crops? And thent he flower crops that go along with it. I'm just baffled and wondering if i'm doing something wrong.
Your flowers crops have more possible giant spawns than your 3x3. For the 3x3, only the middle crop will have a chance for turning all 9 crops into a giant crop. Where as your flowers have multiple 3x3 areas and therefor more possibilities
So for example a 3x3 plot will have 1 crop checking for a chance to become a giant crop. A 4x4 plot will have 4 possible giant crop spawns
That kind of really makes my aesthetic idea difficult then. I was hoping to isolate a single 3x3 area to give the giant crop. OOF.

It explains why in spring i usually get multiple giant strawberries but not in the place i want. Yet the coffee somehow got giant in that 3x3 when i had others in the next field over. ><;
I thought just watering them everyday would increase my chances after they are full grown. Would the 'giant crop' ring mod assist with me getting my aesthetic?
only the center crop needs to be watered to trigger a giant crop
so if you don't water the others you could exclude some spots
but the chance for getting a giant crop will then decrease
the surrounding crops doesn't even have to be fully grown
just has to be the same type

This is not an easy save file edit, since you'd be adding entirely new items. You'd need to look at e.g. the giant coffee object in the save file for reference, determine the coordinates of the other locations you want, and figure out what IDs correspond to the other modded giant crops you want
I think I seen a CF.. if its custom furniture.. for the giant crops. PErhaps that's the alternative I should look at. It just dawned on me, Gervig, what that meant.

Hi! Sorry to interrupt. So this is my first time using Linux and also using mods. I am trying to get Steam to run Stardew with its mods and am running into trouble. Initially the game would only load normally (sans mods), and now that I've set launch options in Steam to pull from StardewModdingAPI %command%, nothing actually opens anymore when I press play. Could someone point me in the right direction?

@gaunt pier yeah, you shouldn't set launch options on linux. if steam launches the native game without smapi it indicates that the smapi install wasn't succesfull probably

because I can't guess what happens if an event script contains an /end warpOut command, an /end position command, or a position setup command that would shuttle them through a warp to a festival map

Ive been running these fine now my cjb spawner isnt showing the seeds and saplings from the other mods like before. Any solutions? The most I did was update a few but they didnt effect ether mods so?

@heavy sky hmm, no clues in recent events. Of course, if an event started but failed somehow to cause it, the event ID would not have been saved.
when i woke up on the 12th, i immediately took the ocean totem to the beach, and went there just fine
after that, i ported back to my base
read my mail, decided i'd try again to see if anything happened
and it teleported me back to my home, as if i'd used a return scepter
rather then using the beach totem which is what actually happened

it is worth noting i have the CJB cheats menu mod installed
which has a location warp option
however i would assume that it shouldn't modify or edit existing warps

whatever's causing this to happen doesn't really exactly seem very predictable
I found something possibly suspicious, but if it's responsible it should only trigger on Summer 11, not Spring 12. 🤔

Can you try another patch export Data/Events/Beach on a save that has never experienced the bug, just in case there's something that gets patched in only conditionally and didn't stick around after it happened?

@jaunty tree hm, a lot of System.ArgumentException: An item with the same key has already been added errors from json assets. i guess that might happen if two mods are trying to add an item with the same name?
idk , if you updated any of the PPJA mods maybe something went wrong there, say if you didn't delete the previous installations before installing the updated versions
or other json assets mods

I think Museum Expansion has (or was working on) support for several different recolors

I edited a tilesheet that the mod was already using, then saved the changes
I checked and the tilesheet is changed, but the game is till using/seeing the old sheet
The tilesheet is named the same as it was before?
