@balmy oak the logs expire in 4 weeks automatically, but you can click "renew" at the top to extend that deadline

Heyyy, so, I made a mistake somewhere and I need a little help trying to fix it
The best way I can explain this, is that I opened my mods folder, and I had no mods, but when I started the game, the mods were working
My friend wanted to use the new aquarium mod before we got started
He also had me take over his pc to download everything. I did their pc flawlessly. No issues. But when I tried to download the mods onto my pc, I didn't know where to place the new mods
the first folder said mods, the second said stardew valley mods
I placed the mods in the SDV Folder but none of the mods worked. I transfered the entire folder to the mods one, and suddenly those mods were recognized.... but now I have this issue
you have duplicates of almost everyting
I've gone through the folder to get rid of extras but the whole entire folder doesn't show duplicates
you seem to have Mods folder inside your Mods folder. for example Mods\Mods\SpaceCore, Mods\stardew Valley Mods\SpaceCore

the mods should generally be in the top level Mods folder. subfolders can be used for organization

better probably, there are still quite a bit of duplicates, but you can use the log to see them (the red errors that have because you have multiple copies of this mod installed.)
Okay, I think I found the issue. Problem is, I have two options and I don't know which one is correct
I have a folder inside my mod folder saying PPJA Mega File, which contains duplicates of the files above

yeah, it's a common issue. the Mega pack mods are usually older than the individually downloaded mods, so if you want newer versions keep the individual mods. with the mega pack it's just easier to download and update a bunch of them at once
@covert glade it takes fish and outputs smoked fish (i think it's also supposed to take cheese, but not sure if that's implemented)

@inland pasture As of right now, I thought it was quite possible to get the items in the right quality with enough patience 🙂 but you can use whatever you want.
Yeah a quality scrubber wouldn't make normal quality into gold quality or anything, but when normal quality is all that is required to proceed I figured the Juminos wouldn't mind higher quality forage.
the Content folder seems like a xnb mod, you can see the link in the log for information about them. the other one is just the smapi installer folder. they won't cause any problems by being there

@naive turtle that is.... odd... the first thing i would try is maybe resetting your content files, and then i would take out half your mods and then the other half and figure out what mod it is that way

^ that's in case you have an XNB mod that's affecting things, or a file is missing somehow
idk why this would be the case, but the last thing that ran before the crash seems to be your cat replacer mod editing the little cat head in the inventory menu? the crash also seems to have to do with a map viewport, you could try disabling UI info suite maybe?

Until recently I haven't even had an issue with the cat replacer mod.
it was this last update (and that wasn't touched) that I did on smapi and a few mods that started this.
Disabling UI Info Suite didn't fix it

0.11.2multiplayer.5. But remember this version is obsolete and unmaintained and not includes features and fixes from version 0.12.0 and newer. All bugs and problems you will find in 0.11.2 multiplayer version will be never fixed due to this version is old and archived - unmaintained & deprecated

NPC's added by SVE don't show friendship levels in the menu. Is there anything you can do about it? And is it only an issue to non-host players?
I can't find any info about that specific issue, but it seems similar to SVE's errors when farmhands marry new NPCs or can't see them at festivals
FlashShifter or somebody who plays SVE in multiplayer would know more than me, though

If it's a C# mod it likely needs code changes and if it's a CP mod it likely needs updated with new content. Certain mods have been replaced by other mods or methods to add them in (like shirt mods).

I got the Bigger Backpack mod, but I don't see the backpack on the counter.
It's in multiplayer and a farmhand already got the upgrade without problems.

hi any ideas why npc map locations is showing double in my game (i see two of every character in the map) and why lookup anything isnt working?
ui info suite and NPC Map Locations both show the npcs, disable one

okay, so you'd need content patcher version 1.17 or later for it. it will break the childtonpc version you have at least, but there is an unofficial update to it
you also have some mods that aren't loaded because they are missing requirements (under the section "these mods could not be added to your game")
Yeah, i'm not worried about the ones due to them missing requirements. I just haven't cleaned things up/taken them out. I was concerned with the Menagerie mod so i could get it to work. So updating ContentPatcher would fix it?

okay so, a while back i said i'd upload a screenshot when i completed my honey/keg farm in the SVE forest area(where aurora vinyard is), and here you go
i laid paths on everywhere apples or wizard/morgan destroyed any blocks
but it's hard to say exactly whether or not this is complete, more time may need to pass
there may be different activities for these characters based on season or other factors
also, keep in mind that this is not exactly 100% accurate either, because i laid down paths as a general way of getting around as well
so not all paths are necessarily ones that characters do actually use to get around
i'll continue to update this in time
I don't understand what's happening here-
when a SDV character moves around, they will automatically destroy any player-placed blocks
so this is kind of like a rough guideline for where not to place your blocks in SVE's forest area so they don't get destroyed
for example, if you look up near the vinyard, you can see the arrangement of the kegs and bee houses seems kind of strange

desert's a bit safer because sandy is the only one who might walk around but i don't think she does
tree farms are there also for some syrups

I don't think I've ever kept one color of chicken exclusively for long enough to test it, but I always assumed that's how it worked 😄

It is recommended that they do. Some visual mods won't make a difference but more often than not it's always a good idea to have the same mods installed
Oh I see, thank you so much! This next one might sound dumb, but I am new to mods. How would I launch the the game with no mods?
Since it now automatically launches for me with the mods I installed.
A few ways
Option 1: launch the game from StardewModdingAPI.exe to play with mods, launch with Stardew Valley.exe to play without mods. Not a great option for non-Windows OS or if you want Steam Achievements to register in both cases.
Option 2: Rename the entire Mods folder to something else before playing. Easiest way is to rename it to .Mods, this will disable them. Launch the usual way. Rename it back to "Mods" before playing to play with mods.
Option 3: Keep separate mod folders named differently. E.g. Mods-solo and Mods-multiplayer. Before launching the game, rename the one you wish to play with to just Mods.

I think there are some mods that add a tiny kitchen, can't think of any reason it wouldn't be sve compatible
There's also Limited Campfire Cooking that lets you cook using a campfire

I have not found Limited Campfire Cooking all that useful in early game, actually... it's hard to get the right recipes and ingredients early on.
Yeah I found the same. It's a nice thematic idea, but I end up getting a house upgrade by the time I need to do much cooking anyway

SMAPI updated very recently
and every time SMAPI updates there's a few hours where a bunch of antiviruses freak out about it
it's just funny that at least in my experience the last few times windows defender has falsely accused the same two files of the exact same thing

Nvm, it turns out using the old version fix the problem.
Hello! I've just installed the Stardew Valley Extended mod on my Mac according to the github install guide, but when I launch the game on Steam it crashes. Is there a special method for installing on Mac? The SMAPI terminal log doesn't indicate any errors have occurred.

Can anyone tell me why I'm crashing and what I need to do to fix it? It crashed when it went to save my day's progress. If it helps at all, I think the next day is the day that Krobus is supposed to move it. I had smapi 3.7.2 so I updated smapi, but it still crashed at the same point. I have a farmhouse mod, but I know that the spouse's room works as I've married and divorced 3 npcs already.

well, just as a test: (maybe back up your save first? just to be on the safe side or things) disable the farmhouse mod, try to have krobus move in, and see what happens

I think the Krobus issue might be linked to the sewer tile sheet

@prime zealot I had to update mine as well cuz I was having crashing issues as some point too. It started 2 days ago and would happen once in a while

Hey! I'm pretty far ahead in my Stardew save but I've played it vanilla so far. I'm really interested in installing SVE but would just like to know how it works - I've gathered it doesn't overwrite my pre-existing save but will it apply to any new save from that moment onwards? Or is it like a new farm layout that I need to select when creating a new save? Hope this made sense. Thanks!
the former. you can use it on existing saves. but recommended to start on a new one because you'll miss out on plenty of heart events and certain events won't make sense anymore if you've raised your friendship levels high enough with a couple of villagers

@dire fractal You could try Lookup Anything (https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/541). You can press shift + F1 by default to open a search UI, search for the wine/jelly, and it'll show the sell price (and other info).

Linux doesn't provide any standardized way to get the OS name from C#; that's what it identifies itself as internally.
Can you update to the latest SMAPI 3.7.3 and reset your content files (https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Player_Guide/Troubleshooting#Reset_your_content_files), and see if it still happens then?

I think SMAPI just loads alphabetically for the most part
the load order is determined by the folder names
unless the mod has a dependency in its manifest.json
Mods that need to load after other mods will add dependencies-- yeah that :)

Generally you don't need to worry about it. If the mod lists one in its manifest SMAPI will handle that for you.

i removed flower valley and it worked fine... if flower valley had generated the config maybe i'd be able to disable the foliage?

You won't get the flowers on the tree foliage, but I think the other flowers should still work.

@dire fractal It's failing in StardewValley.Menus.TitleMenu:createdNewCharacter, apparently on the first instruction which isn't doing anything special. I do see a lot of "corrupt stack?" messages in the dump though. It seems like memory corruption or something broken in Mono itself?
I'm using a greenhouse mod and sometimes I can till it and sometimes I can't o.o I'm not sure what would cause it to be like this now?

SMAPI doesn't make any changes to the code that's failing. It does have new threads and such, so it could trigger a crash if something is broken with your Mono instance's threading or something.
Latest stable should be fine.

The log doesn't say it's ignoring Flower Valley, but you also have mods loading after it that are conflicting.
The trees are there, I can see them, but you have another mod that's loading after and putting it's trees on top.

You can go into the content.json and remove "FoliageEnabled": true, from the trees to have them always enabled if you want.

1.18.3 even adds a Description field to ConfigSchema entries that you can fill out to give more details to users in the menu

I saw! Thanks. East Scarpe isnt much of a town atm (there is only one family living there plus Nagito if you nab hin from ModDrop) but it does contain fish, berries, special birdlife and will have some interesting hidden bits added now and later to explore.

I'm currently tweaking the configs of Medieval Buildings but I don't understand something about the fish ponds...
Here are the choices I can make but... there's more than three options here? What will it do, will it randomly pick from the looks of let's say, option 1?
If you choose option 1, all your fish ponds can be cycled between the 3 shown
(Although male chars do get a letter from mum and females a letter from dad early on)
In vanilla, fish ponds have 3 decoration designs

yo, i've been trying to play stardew with my two other friends (one is on mac) and i've just been sending my mods folder to them to make things easier. however, when we try to go into the town, my friend on the mac gets a black screen and the game crashes. when my other friend and i exit to title and then get back on the game, it crashes when the day starts.
do any of these mods have windows -> mac or multiplayer compatibility issues?

I have a broken bigcraftable and I was wondering if there is a way to fix that without unistalling the mods and deleting all the items. I know why it is broken - it is because I downloaded the fizzy drinks update and forgot to put a z before I installed it, and it adds a big craftable, which has shifted all the json asset references

Be aware that Wear More Rings is sometimes buggy with magnetic radius. If you find yourself not reaching items as expected, or being unable to pick up items without wearing magnet rings or iridium bands, that's a common problem but it can be reset with a little fiddling.

i've tried to install stardew expanded and its inside of the mods file but it doesnt work for some reason
that looks to me like it's working fine. is your problem that your farm map hasn't changed? if so, you need to download the optional file for IF2R

like, ifr2 loads the 'standard' farm, so if you're using the river farm you'll need to change to standard
it was some hoops that you needed to jump through starting to use sve and if2r on an existing character. I assumed that was the trouble but I may be mistaken
yeah I think it's just inconveniences rather than anything that breaks anything

SVE was already working, you just now have IF2R working as well
I downloaded another 44 mods today. I just keep finding cool ones with dependencies so instead of one it’s like seven and then an hour later I downloaded almost 50 more mods

@sharp lava you probably also want to grab yourself the SVE version of NPC Map Locations. You have the non-SVE version right now

It's been a while since I've had to ask a question, so proud of myself there, but I'm confused about a couple errors here. The CP animation errors, I don't think I downloaded additional festivals, what I did load today was more fish and the content patcher animations for all the fish. Quest framework has been angry since I downloaded it, I've just been ignoring it mostly since I couldn't fix it. The stardew notifications is new, but yeah, I can't tell what it's angry about. But it works, I get notifications. I think the festival one may be mermaid island

For him? I don't think so, I left it at nomask so the CP-A would work for his portaits, and it's been working
yep toshi animated portrait requires an unreleased version of CP-A... I think the CP-A error doesn't affect the gameplay tho?
Yeah, it seems to be working. So I'll just ignore that one. Well, most of them apparently, I just live with a few random errors that don't affect the game

I was gonna say Elle's, that's the one I use! But there's overgrown fairy buildings, victorian, and medieval that I can think of off the top of my head. I use yellog's for my craftables too

Oh my gosh I love decorating my house, I spent an entire day on it. I for one use Seasonal garden farmhouse v2, it gives you more space (but you can't change the wallpaper/floor for the added stuff, just the original stuff)
I use Gervig91's furniture, industrial kitchen, industrial furniture, rustic country walls and floors

I’m going to start using mods on a MP save in year 2. The mods are SVE, a few PPJA, the farm animals one and a lot of minor ones. I’m not using IF2 because I don’t want to break my current farm.

JA item ID shuffling! When you change the number of JA items in the game, the IDs are reallocated. This converts items in inventories, chests, junimo huts, etc but it doesn't fix the name of dynamic item parent sheet indexes.
So you get items with silly names like neanderthal skull jelly or fig sapling honey.

Not to be confused with weeds honey which was a different bug involving honey in general being cursed
I think that's what happens when you install a new JA mod, it shifts the references!
