SVE is huge and complicated and is one of those mods with like 10 required mods

A) have special instructions on the mod page for how to install, or
B) be XNB mods and you do not wanna try using those especially on mobile, trust me.
anything other than "unzip, put in mods folder" is given special install instructions

Modding changes your game files, and the save files are stored in a different place

Completely depends on the mod.
Mods that only replace textures (like sprites, portraits, tilesheets) will never touch save data and are completely fine to use on a save and them stop using
Yeah I know JA mods will break a save if you don't remove all their items in that save before removing the mod
A lot of mods that change game mechanics are the same (no effect on save) but not all.
But I never play unmodded so I won't find out ever lol

You can copy and transfer save files between PC and mobile no problem
If you want to duplicate a save file to have two versions of it on the same device, the process is much more involved
You can make a backup though and store it somewhere else on your computer without fuss

If you want to back up a save, copy the whole folder
Name_12345679 is your actual data, savegameinfo is the stuff that the save menu displays
the ones labelled with _old are the previous save (one day behind), the game does that automatically in case something goes horribly wrong
Running the game with Smapi also creates up to 10 IRL days of automatic save backups, by the way

basically. All you need to put into your computers save game file is the SAVEGAMEINFO nad SAVEGAMEINFO_OLD then SHERRY_####### and SHERRY_#######_old

I can lay on my bed and play, then go to my PC and resume. No need for file transfer
earlier today we had to help someone debug a bizarre issue they had and in the end pathoschild tracked down its recurrance to steam cloud save haha
(they had somehow gotten some xnb files and their save in a folder named New Folder in their save files folder)
(and due to cloud save whenever they fixed it steam 'helpfully' put the xnbs back in there)

I was wondering how to transfer my mobile save onto my pc game, I know how to do it on vanilla stardew valley, but I have SMAPI installed on my pc and my phone version.
Do I just replace the most recent folder inside one of the zips in Stardew Valley > save-backups or what?

lol, I just had a similar thing happen, I installed fresh meat and all 20+ of my fruit trees changed into diff ones
oops due to a compatibility patch in Juliet's file (to place her in a different part of the Yoba shrine if either Paul or Amelia were present), I hadn't changed her Joja shift in teh evening. So post Community Center completion she'd go to her new location: abvoe the fountain, and stand there in her Joja uniform playing on her phone...
for some reason all modded dishes disappeared from the cooking station
I tried uninstalling new mods i downloaded and still nothing, the only other thing i did is update SMAPI

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing me to automatically level mining to 10 as soon as I hit 7 with about 25% experience is this a known issue from a specific mod I'll have log for everyone in a second
Log actually isn't saying anything, but here it is. I think it happened the first time when I mined a rock from More Gems but after when I tried to relevel with CJB it still jumped me to 10 when leveling from 7 to 8, wouldn't be a problem but I am not getting the stuff for leveling up, i.e. the crystallarium recipe and stuff

I just launched the game and noticed that none of the recipes added by the PPJA mods appear in the kitchen. I just had the vanilla ones...
I have no error logs in SMAPI (and i have updated it), and i tried to test uninstalling mods i installed today but there was no changes ; so i'm a bit confused ๐ค

Rolling back the save won't do anything since it doesn't generate them on game save. Otherwise how would they appear in the game before it saves. You'll have to do the good ole classic of removing any of the messed up items and readding them using CJB

I was more thinking of the JA-related files in the save folder, but yea Jani, you could get the seeds for the trees via CJB Item Spawner, plant them, and grow them with CJB Cheats Menu

@timid holly It's not a mod, but the mod manager ModDrop allows you to share mod packs so people are able to download the same mods you have.
You could also use the mod Mod Command, available on nexus, to export your mod list. It includes links to the mods as well, so people could download them by going to those links

To add to that, there isn't a way to make all mods apply to everyone without everyone downloading the mods, because Stardew doesn't have servers. It's all peer to peer connections and everyone is running their own copy of the game, so they need to run the same mods with each copy for them to work the same.

(Wabbajack has a Stardew list now too, but it's basically just a small SVE install, and unfortunately all their lists still involve a manager (MO2) which is overkill to me for a game that can install mods by dropping folders into a folder. It does do all the downloading and setting up of it for you, though.)
I'm using elle's seasonal buildings mod. I've set the palette to "starblue" and theme to "color", but it shows up as "vanilla" and "white" I think. I saw on nexusmods that people had the same problem, but didn't see a solution. Anyone able to help?

@coarse bear that looks correct for Starblue + Color + Blue.
It's certainly not vanilla, and the colors on the buildings only show up with higher upgrades

@late ermine Reset Terrain Features (https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/4715) is a mod that allows you to reset, clear, or generate everything that spawns on a map via an in-game menu. This is especially useful when changing maps mid-save, as the debris will still use the old layout (causing things like trees in the water or bushes blocking exits) until reset.

Hi so I got 2 questions! First one, I just now had a strange crash. I exited my save to Title due to wishing to replay the current day, and upon pressing to load my save again, SDV crashed and I briefly saw my SMAPI spit out errors. I have here the link to the Error Log.

My second question is a bit more diffuse. I've had 3-4 playthroughs now, and I -believe- the Culprit may be SVE, but for some strange reason, Leah refuses to come out of her cottage on Tuesdays. This causes me grief as I want to dance at her, but I must speak to her -every day- for that to happen... And during Spring at least, on Tuesdays, she will not come out. (I quite literally camped her house for 3 tuesdays in a row, 6am to 12am, and she would not exit) Does anyone know of this, or do I have a conflict?

Tamardia if you aren't opposed to a little bit of cheating, you can type "debug wtc Leah" in your smapi console. And it'll warp you right to her.
Eh, I'm pretty against cheating unless absolutely necessary. Was more hoping to have it resolved if it's a bug or conflict somewhere... But if I hit 'way late' tonight again and she still won't come out, yeah I will

@cursive wharf you could type patch export characters/schedules/leah to the smapi window if she doesn't move, that creates an exported schedule file in game/patch export folder
and share that here if you don't want to diagnose it yourself

I just have to find a way to speed up the painful early game without rushing it too much on my modded saves
Does anyone else starting a new save have that problem though? I noticed it even in vanilla before introducing mods, the early game is very slow, I am broke for a lot of the time, and then after a certain point in the midgame, I am making oodles of cash but don't have stuff to spend it on anymore

Can say by year 2 my farmer likely have purchased quite a lot of stuff, despite me usually spend time chopping wood and foraging... Though it does feel a lot happen by the mid-game (I hate to encounter like 3 events in one day). Then it slow down to significantly in late game (my farthest is just like winter Y2 tho).
Is there a mod to limit number of event that can be seen in one day?

I don't think there's a mod that allows you to limit the number of events in a day, I'd imagine that'd be challenging, because you'd basically have to say "meet these conditions but also not if X number of events played today", which sounds like it would be tough to do
Hmm, I imagine it would be like adding a counterwhen any event id is added to eventseen. Then make it somehow a condition in checking for event to trigger. Definitely C# thing... I'll post in github in case someone be interested :3

Enderdragon, apologies if this has already come up, but did you have a lot of programs open? Did you take a look at memory / CPU usage in the task manager? I think someone's asked about your RAM before and you had a decent amount, so that shouldn't be an issue 
It started after I changed the monster spawn limit for FTM and ive deleted all the mods and reinstalled them and yet it still crashes
Ah, before you changed the spawn limit, you just had lag, right?
as i play smapi on the steam without interfering with the achievements, open the steam for him to open smapi together with the steam
If you had any issues with the game files, that would have shown up in your log, so doing a reset of the game files is likely not going to do much, more just throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks.

@tepid blade Could you try posting a log of the crash after enabling SMAPI's verbose logging? that will make FTM (and certain other mods) log more details
(I'm not sure about differences between OSes, but there should be a smapi-internal/config.json file with VerboseLogging as the first setting)

yeah, I'd have to say it's either a "phone not strong enough" issue or possibly something with the SMAPI port
FTM successfully spawned about 35 monsters and a few hundred objects that time, and got through its whole loop
How do I check to see if its smapi itself
I have the meats mod installed, I just updated it today, and the recipes are missing. Only the meat-based ones.
And its still saying I should update it in my log.
there's not really a good solution if it's some rare SMAPI bug, just keep it updated I guess

I'd recommend using fewer mods to minimize issues, e.g. playing without SVE

you could also try force closing other apps or something, but I don't know much specific stuff about mobile optimizations
(e.g. if you have stuff like Youtube minimized, it might help to close it)

Json Assets has a bug with the latest version of SMAPI that causes JA recipes to not show up in the kitchen. spacechase0 is aware and is looking into a fix with Pathos. In the meantime, if you're missing custom recipes, the easiest fix is to revert to SMAPI 3.6.2 temporarily. You can find old versions on the Nexus page!

monsters are technically a kind of NPC, and Android doesn't seem to optimize them well (e.g. some people report lag even though they're on different maps), but I'm not sure if that'll help much
I think SVE only spawns them in one "end-game" kinda location, though, so you won't miss them for a while

Weird question. Did SVE change a dependency? It made me download a couple icon packs, which is absolutely not a big deal, but things look different now and I feel like I would have preferred to start this way and not be confused when I see a sweet pea. Like Iโd 100 percent download it again any time, but was I the only one? Maybe I just deleted something at some point?

hey i need some help! my group of friends is playing modded stardew and she's having an issue where wherever she hovers, she autoplaces fences and isn't in control of it at all
she tried repairing her game and whatnot but it still won't fix itself
So whoever is the creator of FTM when I changed the monster spawn limit not only did the mod corrupt itself but it corrupted every mod I have. My brother had to delete all of my mods and put the ones from his phone to mine.

I honestly really doubt FTM did that, it's much more likely to be an error caused by the phone or file app, unless there's some more information about what happened

It's perfectly fine, Windows is just angry. Keep in mind custom recipes are broken in 3.7.1 if you use any. 3.7.2 solves the issue.

Hey guys, I usually don't have any problem fixing modding issues I run into on my own, but I've really messed up my game now I think. I was attempting to update Giant Crop Ring and Pytk that goes with it, and now I cannot join my wife's server anymore. I had us remove Giant Crop ring mod from both folders with no luck. try updating all the rest of your mods and SMAPI first, you're a few versions behind. i would guess the issue in this log is that you're wearing the giant crop ring, but you removed the mod, so SMAPI is not happy about that. can you try putting it back and updating everything and get a new log? @latent badger
I actually had my wife delete the rings (they were not equipped onto my farmer) and play through a day and save. We then removed the mod from both our folders and I was still not able to join. I figured that would fix the issue.
I would love to update the rest of my mods but I think there are a few that have changed so dramatically that when updated break our game.
that shouldn't be the case, except for things like JA mods where they might have added new items so your IDs might scramble a bit
try updating the rest of them and see what happens, it's always the best idea to have all of your mods up to date. occasionally you'll get false update alerts or updates that are just an added translation or whatnot, but often updates fix major bugs

it's talking about a display name too, do you have any honey from JA flowers maybe? honey sometimes flips its shit at random intervals

maybe have your wife check your inventory and chests for any honey items and chuck those
you'd be surprised how many multiplayer issues have been solved with that particular fix lol
no, like actual honey from bee houses
sometimes the game will do this fun thing in multiplayer where it will create honey from something that is very much not a flower, like hemp (which was what happened to me once, the mod has it as a vegetable). then when a farmhand picks up that item and leaves the game and tries to rejoin, SMAPI throws a fit because it knows you shouldn't have hemp honey because hemp is not a flower, but you do in fact have it
this can also happen with honey in a chest, even an automate chest pulling it from beehouses
honey and roe are the usual culprits when it starts yelling about display names bc they're the things in vanilla that take an input for their display name. so the item itself is honey/roe, and then the code checks what it's made from to say what kind of honey/roe it is

usually the host will be able to see immediately that they've got honey that shouldn't exist, either because the display name is wacky or because they're physically inable to open a certain chest
Hi there. I'm having a problem with some mod that's basically combining my greenhouse with another greenhouse. Like, the original layout of the normal greenhouse shifted up and to the left into the void. My gf comes into greenhouse and gets stuck. I'm not sure what to do.

you have already, you can only have one greenhouse mod at a time
most likely what happened before is that you were unknowingly using two mods that edit the greenhouse before, which caused SMAPI to show you the vanilla one instead of either. now you've removed one but your plants will stay planted where they were initially because the game doesn't automatically move them to fit the greenhouse you have
you can save the plants by getting Noclip Mode and Crop Transplant, getting a garden pot, and noclipping out of bounds to pick them all up with the pot and move them to a normal spot
@dim bobcat not that i know of, we've got Epic busy working on stuff for an upcoming mod rn so he probably hasn't gotten to it yet, but I know he's planning to refactor it at some point
from my understanding he'd rather do a full overhaul of the code when he has time since he wrote it a while ago

Hello ๐ I like trying out new farm layouts and am choosing which mods to use for each of the farm layouts (standard, hilltop, etc). If I choose the monster layout (I can't think what it's called), will it still have the monsters? I'm assuming yes. If so, can I turn them off, somehow?
wilderness? yeah, it will still have them. there's a late game way to toggle those on and off and i believe you could save edit that flag too?
it would break your immersion TM, but you could use debug commands to warp to the ||witch's hut which i believe is just WitchHut and offer a strange bun to the statue on... the right i think? and that should turn off monster spawns||

if that file doesn't exist rainbow, you may need to try installing SMAPI again, and/or show a screenshot of what your folders look like

no problem jack! it's totally fair to worry about messing stuff up haha, but pathos is always very careful to make sure SMAPI updates are safe and not going to break your game

if the mod has something in the content.json that allows for that, then yes. if it doesn't, you'll have to edit it manually
you should be able to check the first few lines of the content.json and see what the allowed values are in the ConfigSchema field
I have found that in the content.json file, but I guess I'm asking if it will mess up an existing save?
so if you're using a map mod called MyFarmMap, and you have a save on that map that replaces the forest farm and change that to replace hilltop, your save will no longer use MyFarmMap. it'll use the forest map, or whatever other map you have replacing forest
but a save on hilltop farm will now use MyFarmMap

there has been some problems with the newest smapi update and recipes though, but i think with that they didn't show up at all
or maybe that was already fixed with version 3.7.2 too

the only ones I use from there are remainagined and that'll be disabled for any SVE playing
Using Content Patcher, is it generally true that mods that ADD new events won't override or delete events from other mods?
Awkward wording, but I've got four ish mods already that add Penny events, and I kinda want to get Unlikely Friendships too but I'm worried I will start to have events that collide and consume each other.
I figure as long as all these mods ADD events, and not CHANGE events, I should be getting ALL of them, and yet I fear losing out on content
they'll be fine as long as they all have unique IDs. The content may contradict but they should all trigger
the only way you'd have issues would be if two mods edited the same vanilla event or if two used the same unique ID (unlikely since most event IDs for mods are 8 numbers long)
So like... something that I think happened with Fresh Meat is like... you originally were able to cook the meats in your basic crafting menu, but I guess now you have to get the recipes for them from... somewhere
It would make sense cause how else are you cooking it? Firebending?
I think Gus would probably be a reasonable place for them?

The sprites and the portraits work fine, but dialogue is still male, and this mod: ( https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/464/? ) has proven fatal to my game, mostly, I believe, since it's not Content Patcher.

the dialouge changes are XNB, so it needs to be converted to CP... ill see what i can do

hey everyone, my friend and i are trying to run a multiplayer game on Immersive Farms 2 Remastered on SVE. Hey guys, is there a way to play with the steam overlay and choose to play vanilla OR modded ? (without just putting the launch option in steam and removing it)
I figured I could make two shortcuts, a normal one and another with the launch options of smapi, but it just doesn't work
anyone know all the spells in the magic mod or a link showing where they are
Space: Simplest would to to have two diff mods folder and rename it as necessary.. One without the mods and the other with mods, exchanging them as necessary. Or if you want to go through more setup !modgroups

I already spent 2-3h searching for a way to implement the %command% in a steam shortcut but with no luck
I usually just rename the mods folder and haven't use the mod group. Though I know some people do use it. likely someone else would be able to provide help,,
I only found stuff like "-fullscreen -etcetc" to put in a shortcut, and I really don't know why the smapi launch options work only inside steam and not in a shortcut lol. What made me search for so long is that it seems so simple and I'm sure there is a way to make it work, it feels as it's just at my fingertips and it is f r u s t r a t i n g... Also when found it could benefit everyone!
But yeah in the meantime, mod folders it is
I've used the modgroup method and added the shortcuts as non-steam games, so I have different steam launch options for different mod loadouts
so you could direct a modgroup to an empty mod folder and do that
yeah I know! But then it's not tracking achievements cause it's not the same stardew... I'd really like to find a way to make it work seamlessly

I think steam just detects it or something XD but it shows as me playing stardew when I launch through the shortcut and it lets me join MP through steam friends and all

I just double checked and yup, when it first launches steam will say you're playing a non-steam game SMAPI, but once SMAPI launches stardew it'll show up as you being in-game in stardew

for those interested in learning the layout of where apples go and where not to place your stuff in SVE, here's a possibly helpful screenshot. i'm working on placing crystal paths where apples and possibly wizard/morgan go. ofc, this is not totally accurate because i needed to make paths for myself to actually get through, but it could be a decent guideline
