Honey used to cause shenanigans for me when it was JA honey + Automate, but Pathos was able to 1) edit my save to remove it
and 2) I think Pathos also updated SMAPI to reduce the likelihood of those items staying and doing nefarious things to saves o.o

Hi everyone. I'm using a tree retexture (Starblue Valley). However, some of the trees loaded in along the edges of maps (decorative, can't reach with player) will load both the Starblue tree and the default tree on top of one another. Ideas?
eta: I think its mostly trees added by SVE

A hacky way
I just find a fish that appears in multiple seasons
And edit it's data to be the ID of the fish I want then edit that fish's info to match, and change it back until I can do it less hacky late :3

Anyone ever experience mods bugging fishing lvling ?
I feel like im stuck at level 5
Do you use any mods that tweak fishing? If so, are they updated?
I saw someone having problems with fishing because they had an outdated fishing mod
I know the training rod makes your fishing bar stuck to the size of level 5, but I don't think it caps your actual fishing level
Although it does make XP gain slower by preventing you from catching difficult or star quality fish
You need more XP to increase level the higher you go - how much have you been fishing at level 5 do you think?
And I know Fishing Made Easy inadvertently makes you level up fishing slower, because the way the game calculates exp gain is affected by the fact that the difficulty is lowered

Perfect catches give a significant boost to xp earned too
Shouldn't be affected then.
You can use LookupAnything to check exactly how much XP you need to level up
(sometimes I forget people with small mod load orders exist, that makes troubleshooting so much easier
and I'm one of those people with 370+ mods)

With LookupAnything on android, I change the F1 lookup to use VolumeUp or VolumeDown (either) so that I can press it while facing someone or something
And then I change the more useful Shift + F1 lookup to be a single key on the VirtualKeyboard
Then if you use the VolumeUp/VolumeDown key while your character menu is open, it will look up your character

If you use Automate + Chests Anywhere, you can have the mushrooms automatically go into a chest, and also still be able to access the chest anywhere

I can provide my current mod list though which would probably help, my issue is I can buy it from a vendor for free but sell it for money back which kind of throws everything out of wack >_<

CJB cheat menu has a toggle for freezing time, so does energy time

@dire fractal your problem is a memory problem. Nothing to do with the game or mod errors, just too much stuff for your computer to handle. If you can, try closing other open programs/ending unnecessary processes and run the game again.

and @dire fractal yeah you need to upload the actual log file to the site (instructions are on it), not copy and paste from your console output
Hmm. Looks like you only installed one of the Stardew Valley Expanded folders. The download comes with many, and you need them all for it to work.

it's no different than the first install. download and run the installer, it overwrites the old version automatically
I have used mods before but I got a new Pc and decided to start over downloading them and heard of using smapi through vortex or ModDrop. I have always downloaded everything manually. Is vortex or Mod

But I know some people use Vortex just fine.
Personally I would recommend using Mod Update Menu instead and doing stuff manually.
There is a Mod Updater mod iirc but I haven't used it.
oh that is very helpful, thank you! ive spent hours manually downloading like 80 mods and never had an issue getting them to work but I always wondered if there was an easier way. It was always hard keeping up with updates because I thought you had to delete the old version and download the new one in its place and I could never keep up
Yeah you still should probably delete and redownload but I'll be honest.. I don't unless the update specifically recommends it.

@robust bison Doing this removes any configuration you've done though, so you have to specifically copy that file back or else reconfigure it every time you download it.
If I get an error with a mod the first thing I'll do is a fresh clean install, but since mod authors always warn me when I need to actually delete everything first, I just overwrite unless otherwise indicated.

cjb cheats menu has tickboxes for all the perks, so it should allow you to change it afterwards

I think that is the default setting. I think in the config.json you can disable the disappearing fridges

@white wing actually I think the "conflict" has to do with some of the marriage dialog getting lost. The author of Multiple Spouses provided me a version of Immersive Characters - Shane that they modified to better work with Multiple Spouses, and it requires the mod Custom Fixed Dialogue. I can send it to you if you'd like!

@jovial prawn you don't need a mod for this - in the vanilla game there is a statue in the sewers you can visit and pay 10,000g to wipe your profession choices for a skill. Then when you go to sleep that night you get to make new profession choices.
also CJB Cheats Menu lets you do "porque no los dos?" and you can toggle both on, but also switch at will

Haiiiiiii Guys!!! Im hoping someone can help me. I removed Cherrys farmhouse mod. It changed the farm house interior and added this kitchen. It was a bit buggy so I removed it but now the kitchen is still there and as u can see, there is a wierd patch by the stove. Anyone know how to fix this?

You need to install your custom greenhouse a specific way to work with SVE
You need to take the greenhouse files from your preferred mod and put them inside the overrides folder for IF2R, may have to edit the content.json also. Follow all the steps and it should work.
Btw Jonqora, is there any problem or additional step required to update JA content pack using vortex (I remember reading somewhere u used vortex, correct me if I'm wrong...)?
(this is needed because IF2R actually moves the vanilla greenhouse entrance and puts it in a new location)

Json Assets stores the extra data it needs in the player's save folder, so updating the content pack in Mods folder itself with vortex should be fine
I found out that the log files where the JA shells got deleted is using vortex. The files seems to work just fine when installed manually, thus I thought something might be wrong with how the user uses vortex...

Vortex is really made for Skyrim etc, not Stardew, so it sometimes struggles with Stardew mods

Ah yeah, literally that entire thing is duplicate mods, and mods depending on mods that were skipped because you have multiple copies

SMAPI does not load from Zips but it definitely found duplicates. The log gives the file paths for them

You have both both version 2.0.11 and 2.0.12
so the problems seeems to come from having both the ppja mega pack and some of the individual mods that the mega pack has

Do you really have to create all four different seasonal maps to make it seasonal? Or is there any faster way?
Tilesheets named spring_mycooltiles.png, summer_mycooltiles.png etc will be seasonal automatically if it's an outdoor map.
You just make the map with the spring version, and the game will switch to the other seasons when the season changes.
If it's an indoor map, you can just target the basic version with the seasonal ones via CP to force the change like you would a seasonal house or something.

So, my mom and I are trying to play on multiplayer with a Mac (her’s) and a window pc (mine). We have all the same mods and haven’t had issues until now. We keep seeing different things in our chests, inventories, ect. I have a rapeseed flower and she’ll see a Maguey. I’ll see a rapeseed flower if she’s holding it, and she’ll see a maguey.
Neither of us have any errors and we’re completely updated, so I’m not sure how to work around this. Both of us completely cleaned our mods folder and extracted everything back in. We’ve found the issue is with the PPJA fruits and veggies mod, but we both have Aquarium and SVE.
I can give pics too if that’d help explain it

Skill prestige allows you to level from 0-10 multiple times in order to earn multiple professions, but I don't think it adds anything you don't already have

Quick modding question. Is it okay to place existing mod folders into new folders for organization sake? Say if you put PTYK, Content Patcher and Entoarox folders together under a new folder called 'Important' or 'Core', would they still work?

There might very occasionally be mods that break if you do this, but that's rare and is the fault of those mods if it does happen 
(It's supposed to be fine to do. But for example if a C# mod does its file lookups wrong, or if some mod depends on being first in the load order--lookin at you SVE--there might be bugs that happen)

So, when I choose a mod, I go modmanager route, if possible, but was recently told that Vortex might be messing things up for some people. I like Vortex and it seems pretty straightforward, but if it causes issues, it's not worth the convenience that it provides.

If u like to enable or disable mod; An option to easily enable or disable a mods if u re doing it manual is to create a folder ".disable" to just move them in and out to enable/disable it

On Nexus, you can view your download history and sort by date updated, which is honestly what I primarily use, and SMAPI log is secondary 😄

Yes first and third, maybe to the 2nd 
there's tons of mods copatble with 1.4
ur mods might corrupt ur saves if you fuck it up enough, but i doubt something like that would happen
The "maybe" is, as long as you're not using a save editor, or messing with your save directly without knowing exactly what you're changing, and are careful when uninstalling mods that add new items (be sure to read the instructions first), you should be ok
yes but i couldnt find any mods that added more gameplay variation other than sve and stardew aquarium, but i found a lot of mods that modified the map and textures

LOL. I right-clicked on the SDV icon, on the left, and changed the notification there. Now, I'm getting sounds for everything. I can go in and mute the ones I don't need/want to hear, so it's no big deal, but it's funny.
You have over twice the mods I do though, I can understand why they'd blur together.
Sometimes people will ask about dialog for the Wizard and I'm like "whachu talking about, he's got lots of lines in my game--oh right, that was Haywrites Dialogue Overhaul, in vanilla he has like 20 lines" so. My 29 dialog mods are ingrained in my headcanon, and I have to be careful when suggesting dialog or even writing dialog, to make sure it's in line with the vanilla character rather than my 29 dialog mods

Do you still need convenient chests in 1.4? There's a workbench in vanilla you can buy that achieves the same thing, and you can buff up the workbench with Better Workbenches

For Artisan Valley machines, there's a patch! PFMAutomate on nexus
And actually, as long as the new machines you're trying to use are Producer Framework Mod (PFM) packs, they will also work with Automate, thanks to PFMAutomate

Ok so I've been waiting for a new JA crop mod before asking this question and now I have ancient crops to do. Every single time I update a ppja or other crop mod something acts funky, some crops turn into other crops, some things I'm processing in kegs change to other things etc. is there a special step I'm missing apart from deleting the mod then reinstalling?
I know them changing names is a known issue, it's ID scrambling, and it's harmless
I've had weapons change visually into another weapon, even though the item description and everything was the same
again harmless, and fixed by spawning a new item
ok, I was just wondering because last time it was better mixed seeds update + one of the ja mods update and it crashed my farm

when you updated the JA mod, did you delete the old folders and installed the new one?

I know PPJA in particular changes file/folder structure a lot, so you have to delete old folders and then install new ones
@boreal cradle That happens when all players don't have the exact same items. Could you run the list_items command for each of you and post new logs?

henlo! so basically, i got a new laptop recently
and as you know, i have a lot of mods installed. my issue tho, is that my old laptop is a macbook, and this one is an asus laptop with the windows system. how do i move my mods properly without causing issues to my game, and how do i install them in windows??
Installing on windows i found a lot easier than installing on Linux in my experience, the wiki describes it well

you should be able to just directly move them
You could always transfer your mods folder after installing SMAPI, and use a thumb drive or something yea
Or compress them and put them on a cloud like Google Drive, something like that, that you can access on the new computer

Hi! So i tried to download the yuriyuri hairstyles but misread the instructions and ended up replacing the xnb in the farmer's folder. I was supposed to download the content patcher. Can someone send me the original hairstyles? 😂 I dont want this messing with my vanilla game later on

it loaded! Yea the multiple copies of Custom NPC Fixes is the root of your troubles
because you have multiple copies of Custom NPC Fixes, it didn't load, which stopped Stardew Aquarium from loading, which stopped the TMXL component from Aquarium from loading, and also stopped SVE from loading o.o
