For most stuff, you can use existing frameworks, and then you just need to learn their format

Yea, existing mods that add or modify dialog / events use CP to do it o:

CP is a wonderful framework! You can change with it literally anything that can be found in the game's content files
which includes any&all game images plus text data incl. dialogues, mail, event scripts, item data, NPCs, map files... the list goes on!
Sometimes for specific tasks there is a better framework to use (like you can add new items with just CP, but you should add those new items with JA instead). But for most purposes it is excellent.
CP is great. Remember when it was a simple XNB replacer ๐
I mean, even as an xnb replacer alone it must have been revolutionary. It's no wonder it caught on.

I think the hard push to get everything converted also helped it to be adopted. We (community) did a ton of work in the early days and converted almost every known XNB mod.

He has 40 events and 50 mail and a robust amount of content, but it's unfinished and needs a lot of cleaning up and polish. Expect events to break or have poor positioning/dead, motionless NPCs, glitchy portrait animations (I haven't gone through and made sure all the frames look perfect), and Things Done Badly in general

the doghouse in town is invisible in every season except winter

Looks like the CP error is also for that file, and I think CP-A as well
one thing i did notice after trying to start playing some mods using my SP save file including SVE, is that there were some weird issues with terrain. for example, with SVE's changed adventurer's guild location, it was blocked off by some rocks. someone told me that to fix that, i needed to run a terrain cleaner, or some such
ExnoticTest, I think because that issue, SMAPI just removed the NPC and that's why you get that warning later, so running the content.json in json.smapi.io should fix those

granted, most, if not all, are modders, and very attentive to errors, and quick to fix them ๐

note that there are mods written for the version on nexus, and some written for the unofficial update. The code in BFAV changed significantly in the unofficial update
so if you had to do tweaking to install your BFAV mods, rather than a simple extract into Mods folder, they may not work with the unofficial update

First step is going to be updating the mods it says to, second is to prune some mods. You can make a backup of your current folder in case that isn't the issue.
There isn't a limit except the limits of your hardware and without much RAM you're gonna hit those limits quicker than others might.

You also have multiple copies of Shell Collection installed. Make sure to remove the old version (you have 1.0.0 and 1.1.0)

The script is telling the game to use the 4th portrait in the set. But Seb's looks pretty similar to his neutral portrait, actually. Are you sure the wrong portrait is appearing?

There's not really even anything you need to be doing in the game files themselves -- when you unpack them, you make a copy to a different folder and mess with that. Despite the wacky shenanigans wrecked mod folders can get up to, pretty much everyone will always advise you keep your actual content files squeaky clean :) Any mistakes there are easy to repair by resetting them, too.
Hello, I don't know what happened to my files but when I open my stardew valley files everything is there except the modded game. Like my mod folder is still there with all my mods but the actual game that loads the mods is missing and I don't know what to do. I've tried resetting my computer and I've tried looking up if anyone has had the same problem but I can't find anyone who has, please help.

They should, since I think mods like those just pull directly from the game data that Artisan Valley is adding to.

They're babies, but I replaced the original xnb files and checked them with mouse's patch method

@heavy sail can you check the manifest.json for Advanced Save Backup, and see if the SMAPI-bundled Save Backup is listed as a dependency?
If it is, keep the SMAPI bundled one.
If it's not, you can probably delete the SMAPI bundled one, but know that when SMAPI updates, it'll be added back to your Mods folder

You can use CJB Cheats Menu to teleport around the map, which makes it easier, and Buildable Secret Passages can be tweaked to warp you to additional locations like inside buildings.
But if you're looking specifically for teleporting to NPCs, the only thing I'm aware of is debug commands, and I'd hesitate to suggest those for anything but testing, because you could mess up your save and/or game if you're not careful o.o
you would need to type them into the black console window, or get the mod chat commands

Yea Chat Commands is an excellent mod 
it should be safe to use that particular command, the only issue would be that the character is potentially stuck somewhere and you would need the mod noclip mode to get out
or you could use debug wh to warp to your bed
I didn't mean that specific command is dangerous, so that's fair. I mean it could be a "gateway" to trying other debug commands, and idk how careful the person is, and if they've looked through the debug commands wiki page first before trying ๐

Content Patcher (CP) mods to check for what dates they were last updated, in case they're on the older side (before Nov 2019 really) and could potentially cause issues:
-Compact Bathroom
-Mi's and Magimatica Country Furniture
-Seasonal Witchy-Gothic Windows
i took those out and its still there. im taking the home decor diy mod out and seeing how that goes
i personally enjoy the diys because its easy for me to replace files : (

I'm not able to give detailed help at this time, but you may be able to find where the weird purple square is on the sprite sheet, then tweak the content.json so it doesn't load that square o:

or i just wont use it at all and just find another way to change up the farmhouse tiles maybe without messing with the actual xnbs

You definitely don't have to, don't give in 
It'll just require some tweaking to find the purple square, and heck, if it's an error, you may be able to erase it and not need to tweak the content.json

You can always make a copy before you start lol but in your case, finding the purple square in the sprite sheet would require some squinting but otherwise no code, potentially o.o

but i dont know of a content patcher file that edits farmhouse tiles or walls and floors as replacements

if you need help with setting up a content.json, the #making-mods-general channel has friendly and helpful people who can point you to some resources, and give you specific help with setting stuff up, too.
And, actually o.o! Another thing you could do is unpack the game tilesheet, and then replace the stuff you want from the DIYCP tilesheet you modified.
Then use that new tilesheet you made to overwrite the old DIYCP one (you can first make a copy for a backup of the old DIYCP tilesheet, just in case).
And again, you can ask for more help doing it in #making-mods-general

So idk what happened but my game decided to poop out on me and I have no idea why. It's worked perfectly since I got it til now. At first the saving screen that pops up after you sleep would freeze and then not save and now I can't move some of my chests that have halfway disappeared and then the game crashes. Can anyone help me maybe figure out what is wrong? I really don't want to start over unless there is just nothing that can be fixed. I also had this happen and Idk why. I logged on today and my chests turned into plants. They still open like chests though, so I'm hella confused on what is happening here.
by chance, do you use any xnb mods?
Xnb wouldn't do it, since only some of the chests got replaced
