There are content pack mods in there that can't have worked with the version of Content Patcher that is in the folder with them, since they're made for up to CP v1.15 and CP there is only 1.12
I'd be a little surprised if that was the issue in this case, but -r does lose a bit of info and symlinks and such (probably no symlinks in generic mods though)
Hello everyone, I updated a bunch of mods this evening after not having played for a while and I'm getting a critical error. When I load into the game, the stardrop song is playing, and attempting to interact with the dresser causes the game to stop tracking, freeze, and not allow any interaction. Everything was working OK prior to tonight. @fair vessel I've played with them for a whole day, but Ican clean the log from errors if you prefer.
Aside from that bit, the only big problem I can see in the log is that Hot Spring Farmcave and IF2R both want to load the FarmCave map. If you resolve that it could fix all or most of the big errors.

The issue is that the two mods are incompatible (unless there is a setting on one of them you can change)

Playing around a bit more, I have managed to make the game not crash by replacing the dresser I had already placed in my house with a different copy of the same dresser. However, if I open the dresser there is no clothing inside (there should be). Placing and interacting with the previous iteration of the dresser causes the same crash. I wonder if the update removed any clothing items or changed names? That could have caused the crashing

Sorry to interrupt, but I've been having some problems. I updated Child To NPC, Content Patcher, and SMAPI but then Child To NPC was crashing on entry and Babysitter was having many warnings. I deleted their config files and let them regenerate as I restarted the game and that fixed those errors. However, now the game itself seems to hate me, and can't seem to find a file for my kid. When I join my save, my kid os back o being a generic stardew toddler, like Babysitter and Child To NPC aren't working at all, and I cant accesss my inventory. Any help would be graetly appreciated! @open mulch if you haven't already, I'd post that really good summary you just gave to Babysitter and Child to NPC Nexus pages and/or the forum page for the unofficial update. The person who updated Child to NPC is pretty active in this server and in general, they might see it. And a couple people check Nexus pretty often to troubleshoot. Sorry no one's been able to help yet!

Only happens when farmhand joins. The same thing doesn't happen with another person/co-op farm.

Yes, but usually in Multiplayer the host mod has to send data to the farmhand mod for farmhand NPC Locations to work.
So if it's trying to send data but the farmhand mod doesn't exist, maybe that's the reason for the errors

Note that sending mod messages doesn't error if there's nothing on the other end. My Multiplayer Mod Checker send a broadcast and is fine if the other end doesn't have the mod, or SMAPI

okay, I'm about to start working on a Festivals patch for SVE for Mr Ginger. Aside from the Winter Star festival (where he is now in Pierre's garden, because he was suppsoed to be opposite the presents with Jas but they've been moved), has anyone had issues with him in festivals in SVE?
(basically I'm going to compare the maps with his current locations and only change it if they render him inaccessible otherwise)

Yea I usually extract 1 level down so the mod folder names don't have the trailing numbers, Neeft, you could try renaming the top folders to delete the trailing numbers

@hazy swallow SVE definitely adds a heap more content. Theres a heap nore other stuff available too. Id suggest trawling over the recent releases and updates on Nexus and choosing things that look interesting. It also depends what you want out of a game.
More areas, more npcs, more things to fight then SVE. More crops to grow then PPJA. Harder community center bundles, theres that too!
Also theres a ton of additional stuff for canon NPCs and new standalone NPCs too.
But SVE is by far the most additonal content for least complicated set up.
It's good to mention that Stardew Valley Expanded is a really complicated mod, so it has incompatibilities with quite a few other mods.
(But not that many? It wont work with other map edits but most other content mods aim for compatibility dont they? I dont play SVE myself anymore so theres probably some incompatibilities i dont know of.)
ah, fair enough -- i've downloaded a lot of map edit mods haha. a lot of them are very clear about not being compatible.
And the smapi list doesnt contain many content packs, of which there are 100s.

@dire fractal Update: some game file got corrupted, it seems to be fixed by using a "clean" version of the game
So i'm trying to use TimeSpeed to make the time be closer to real time. It made the tick interval bee 600 which based on what I read should make 10mins (in game) pass in 600 seconds realtime, but I let it sit for around an hour and the time didn't change. I was able to mess with it a bit and get 10min (in game) to be 1min (realtime) but when i get the numbers higher it seems to skew weirdly. Any ideas?
Also if anyone responds to this feel free to tag my day is hectic usually and I don't always the ability to check discord.

How do I turn off certain seasonal outfits in the seasonal outfits mod? I have a portrait replacer, but it doesn't cover all of them. I could just use an older version of the mod, but I'd rather not.

You can add a dependency to the manifest of your portrait replacer mod - that will make it edit things after Seasonal Outfits and not get overwritten

I'm pretty sure the error comes from Romanceable Wizard having a longer spritesheet that includes the tile indices for Wizard_Meditate animation used in his schedule

@wary plaza Check to see you have a content patcher hair mod and GG hair with the the bases hairs on it, from what i can guess, having more than one of the same hair casues weird glitches
I think all hair needs to be moved to GG, as CP + GG causes issues, and if a mod doesnt use either it doesnt even load
Basically, youll want to pull the png from coiis, edit out the base hairs, redo it for GG, then maybe edit the GG of it has the base hairs as well

Most CFR mods were converted to Producer Framework Mod (PFM), so you can try to find those

the mods were likely updated and packaged differently
means you need to delete the old versions, and do something with the fruits and veggies folders
your getting errors because the mods you updated are nested in different folders, which dont overwrite the old version of it, so you have to remove whichever is older
Your log would give you the full path of all the duplicate copies, and then it's a matter of deleting the older one, which Lillie has described, so that only the new one is left, and then SMAPI will load it
then JA and the other stuff should load properly
you did not remove the duplicates
Yea so if you check the Skipped mods section in red, it shows you each mod that didn't load, some because you're missing dependencies, and it lists it, and some because you have duplicates. For the duplicates, it provides the file/folder path

"[MFM] starbrew valley" needs to be removed, leave the [PPJA] one i think? unless you need to have it outside that folder
"[PPJA] fruits and veggies" needs to be removed, thats a straight up dupe

also you left the CFR mods in after removing CFR

I'm not sure where your confusion is. The log lists the locations for the duplicates?

SVE even says "1.9 and down needs to be removed"
By duplicates, it doesn't mean "these 2 mods have the same folder name," it means "these 2 mods have the same unique ID." This information is listed in the manifest.json. That's why I mentioned that the log, in the Skipped mods section, lists the locations for the duplicates. That's going by the ID, and not the folder name.
If there's only one directory for [MFM] Starbrew Valley (for example) due to multiple versions getting merged together into one spot, the easy cleanup option may be to just delete that mod directory and reinstall (you could grab your config.json first and put it back afterwards to keep your settings)

Was having problems with Child To NPC and Babysitter (Child To NPC crashing on entry and babysitter having lots of warnings) when I updated SMAPI, Child To NPC, Babysitter, Content Patcher, and Custom NPC Fixes. So I deleted the config files for Child To NPC and Babysitter and le them regenerate when I restarted the game. I had trouble with the Child to NPC unofficial update too, although my specific problem was related to being on Mac and is waiting on a SMAPI updateโฆ I rolled back to pre-update and CP 1.16 for now so I can actually see the results when my next kid gets old enough!

that would explain some of my issues. bought it on sale, used vortex to just... mod it. finally decided to play today but it's taking some time to... load. if this still happens i'll return with a log. says i have over 200 mods so maybe doing em manually would fix or even get rid of some/make others work. was hoping to play today x_x

Also, that's gonna give you a longish load time no matter what, though if it's more than a few minutes that's still cause for concern
But if you have a well-tested setup of compatible mods, 700+ is possible so it's not that 200 total mods is itself a problem

I think the idea is that a collection of all the frameworks would necessarily lag behind the individual mods in its up-to-date-ness, but I agree there's a lot of moving parts!
SVE comes bundled with quite a few, but there are dependencies by different authors, so those aren't bundled. I wonder if the mod manager ModDrop has a mod pack for it, but I'm not sure if that's exclusive to computers, or if it'd work on Android

So Skyward, I see a few things right off the bat; you have some duplicates with the DayCareCenter mod as if you installed a full package but also the individual NPCs for the daycare separately, so none of those are getting loaded. You're also getting some mods that add the same items twice, looks like More Ice Cream / Artisan Valley Machine Goods; and something's trying to add the "AbandonedHouse" map twice (I'm not totally sure why right now), which might be the source of the "file not found" errors directly after.
You also have several mods that have been updated since you installed them though I'm not sure how much of an impact that'll have. It looks like you've installed a ton of content packs and that might be why your mod count is so high when you launch. How long is it actually taking?
Also, all of that said, I have a question. Have you played vanilla (i.e. without mods)? Because this is a crapton of new content you've added and if you're new to the game I'm a little worried you'll get overwhelmed.
i looked: 1 ik is an update. the rest are old files or files in a different language
tbh this isn't the first game i modded without playing vanilla. the fact that i wanted it and i can mod it made me pick it up in the first place. not the first i had trouble with either, but those seem like simple fixes
except for the fact that smapi says there's an update for some (ex. griffin mod) and i look and it shows a different language 1 a number higher (1.1.2)
I think it's just comparing the numbers. You can edit the mod's manifest.json if you've checked there's not really an update (that you can use) and want the notification to go away ๐
(i.e. change the version number to whatever SMAPI told you is "current")

@timber ruin that's a fairly often seen game issue, mods or no mods. The graphics stuff that the game runs on is... kinda old and not the greatest. Best advice is to not resize the game window

@fair vessel I tested and figured out that resizing did not crash the game, it was the aero snap feature on windows
The restore/maximize button on window controls works fine, but when I drag the title bar to the top to snap it to maximum it crashes

Back yet again for any possible help! I've backtracked to later versions of SMAPI and mods that I used when it was working. My logs show that nothing is wrong and all my previous problems are fixed, but when I go to bed the game crashes and doesn't save, leaving me to repeat the same day over and over again. If I get rid of the new save files and make the old ones new, the game crashes when I try to join my save.

Dunno if the line above it is the pack it's complaining about or not. I'd check out the directory names for the JA mods you have in your mods directory and see if any are particularly long.
Skyward, do you still have mod folders with the trailing numbers? If so, I'd start be renaming those to delete the trailing numbers. Otherwise, it might have to do with your file/folder structure, like if it's nested too far in, and that's what is making the name too long
Assuming your mods directory is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\Mods\ then 67 characters of that 260 total path limit are used up already before you hit the individual mod directories, too.

Adding to LenneDalben's comment - if you extract archives into a container directory (if you're wary of mod authors not putting in a top level directory), you could end up with something like:
Mods\Modname-Version\Modname\<stuff>, where the only thing in Modname-Version is the actual mod directory. Those could be moved up a level to just live inside Mods\ directly.
Which is a super wordy way to explain that.
(Conceptually, I understand people get those by extracting the archives a certain way, but I've never managed to do it lol I think maybe because I always open it first, then extract via drag and drop)
7Zip adds an easy context menu item to do it:
and skyrim mod authors are notorious for just throwing stuff in the top level with no container directory, so I just autopilot always extract to a container because it's so trivial.

So glad you asked! You have a couple options. If the other person (people) are playing with no mods at all, completely vanilla, you can just launch the game directly from StardewValley.exe to start your game with no mods

ahemwith modgroups, you can have a separate folder for certain mods, most often used for things like multiplayer vs. single player. I have one for testing, one for my main load out, one for multiplayer, and one for SVE (also one for my alternate load out but who's counting the chickens on my desktop >_>)

I might be doing it the hard way, but I update mods by going to where I downloaded them and replacing the outdated file with a new one.

Sometimes that happens because the version # is not updated in the manifest.json
If you know you have the latest version, you're good. But if you want to get rid of the message, you'd have to edit the manifest.json file in any text editor (Notepad works) and change the version #

the other problems might be helpful to hear about, I think
you open it up using Notepad (or something else) and there'll be a thing that says "Version": "1.0.0", or whatever. Go to the link it sends you to in order to update, and in the "Files" section there'll be a Version number. Choose the highest version number out of the main folders and then replace "1.0.0" (or whatever) with that number.

Sorry this is so long, but here's clarification on the previous problems ive had and how I've gotten to this point. Was having problems with Child To NPC and Babysitter (Child To NPC crashing on entry and babysitter having lots of warnings) when I updated SMAPI, Child To NPC, Babysitter, Content Patcher, and Custom NPC Fixes. So I deleted the config files for Child To NPC and Babysitter and let them regenerate when I restarted the game. When I joined my save after that, my kid looked like a generic stardew toddler (so either child to npc or babysitter weren't working). So I went back to the versions of SMAPI and those mods when it last worked. Then it was crashing when I was joining the save, so I went into my backup saves through SMAPI and retrieved the save from yesterday and everything was working perfectly, until I try to sleep, which is when it crashes.

child to npc makes it into an npc, and when i updated it to the unofficial version with the new content pater update taht happened
You might have to remove them from your save file, idk, it looks like child to npc is doing some shenanigans.

Ah actually the ChildToNPC by default adds a whole extra season of toddlerhood on top of that, pre-NPC
i noticed that you can use the price fluctuation mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/6396) to apply a percentage decrease to all shipping prices (the config allows to disable price increases and set stable decrease percentage, and it has DefaultPercent option that can be used too). it works by categories (artisan goods etc.) and i've tested it with some variety of JA items and it worked for those too. just to note if you maybe want to take a look at it and add it to your list of mods that add difficulty at some point @fair vessel

Ever since the tailoring overhaul in 1.4, added shirts don't go into the character creator I don't think
They just become a shirt item - the Tailor Mouse mod gives a convenient in-game shop for buying them, or you can spawn them in of course

A full-size map screenshot for IF2R is a 25 MB .png file. Imgur is cranky about this and converted it to a jpeg, but joke's on them above 80% or so quality there's so much noise on the dang thing when I've tried converting to jpeg myself it's even larger than .png (a first, for me ._.)

with modgroups, you can have a separate folder for certain mods, most often used for things like multiplayer vs. single player. I have one for testing, one for my main load out, one for multiplayer, and one for SVE (also one for my alternate load out but who's counting the chickens on my desktop >_>)
