It sounds like it's a small oversight in the content pack, but it could be easily fixable

Find the cannabis mod folder, go inside it, look for a file called content.json. Open that file in a text editor
my farmer doesn't have clothes all of a sudden and I don't know which mod is causing it if anyone could help
You should see the first two lines look something like

Whatever number you see in "Format":, change it to be 1.10.0.

If it says something else is wrong, you could next try 1.14.0 in case the original mod just had a typo and was supposed to be 14 in the first place

it is not missing in the loding screen just in the game

as a side note, i think i figured out what was causing that bug i was talking about a week ago to occur. it seems like it always happens when i sell items via the box. a day skip doesn't happen if i leveled up a skill but didn't sell anything

I'm actually surprised that it's adding new crops as a Content Patcher mod at all. Usually you don't want to use Content Patcher for that sort of thing because of item ID clashes.
If you can't get it to work, you can try this similar mod. It's made for Json Assets, which means it more up-to-date in terms of mods that add new crops. link removed (nexus ID 1741)

Another general question - for mods that use config files (IF2R/Eemies recolors/SVE) they ask you to start the game to generate them...do I need to start a whole new save file/load up a farm, or is it okay to just open up to the main menu, and then close?
Just run the game is fine! SMAPI will create them.
Is that edit ok or should I remove reference to the mod entirely?

Not like placeable furniture in your farmhouse.
You can add some interaction to it via tile actions, but they won't be considered furniture objects

Hm, I think MTN lets you set which furniture set you get on a custom farm type, but I can't think of another mod that does that offhand. It sounds familiar 
The simplest would probably be to just pick it up and trash it, then spawn in the stuff you want instead. For making it happen automatically, you'd need a SMAPI mod with C# ! #making-mods-general could try getting pointed in the right direction :)

Ok, so I'm experiencing a bit of a mod issue: 3 mods tell me they need updated. However, 2 of them are already at the latest version I can download on Nexus Mods, but their manifests don't reflect that (IP's Weapons and LadderLocator), and the Fresh Meat mod says the latest version is a beta, but from the sound of the beta, it's very unstable and I think I'd be better off with the latest non-beta.
sometimes the version numbers in the manifest.json are outdated, if you're sure you have the latest version, you're good
if you'd like to get rid of the messages, you can edit the manifest.json file yourself using a text editor (Notepad or Notepad++) and update the version number to be correct. It's a harmless message though, if you know you have the latest version

Also, I was trying to find an alternate Save Anywhere mod because the only one I know of is horribly bugged and last time I used it, I ended up loading in a cliff wall on the northern part of town.
Couldn't find one, but I did find the Skull Cavern Elevator mod, which hopefully won't break SVE's Skull Cavern
@tired apex libpng complaining about non-standard color correction profiles. there is an easy way to remove the profiles from the pngs if you want to get rid of the warning. not sure if it's possible to suppress libpng from printing out the warnings

(By contrast, smapi itself only adds a tiny little trace log)

But if I don't put something there, the SMAPI console will spam like... 8 lines stating a bunch of SVE files have no update keys.
Yup. The problem is that SMAPI makes a more obvious error for a missing update key than for an invalid key
Whereas Mod Update Menu shows a bigger error for invalid keys than for when they are missing.
You could talk to the author of Mod Update Menu and ask them to add an exception and not throw an error if, say, the update key just says "null"
Will reach out at some point. For now, I'm adding this to the pile of "things to do"~
I was going to ask why not just put in the version of the mod, but then I thought of updating the keys for every single part of the mod, and I realized "Oh, that's why not."

Also, another thing I noticed is with Dynamic Night Time, when I wake up on a Fall morning, my house is still dark as if it's night time for about 10-30 in-game minutes before it gets bright. I initially thought it was a glitch but then I realized it's because the sun's rising slightly later in the day due to it being fall.
The info suite will tell you how much time left when doing mouse over..

@supple echo couldn't find libgdiplus, which is needed to load mod images. Make sure Mono is installed and you're running the game through the normal launcher.

There are mods that add new (third) options for some skills
And mods that add new skills
Oh and I've seen one that balances crit chance so that Scout profession becomes viable, but I think it's out of date I'm afraid
Because the effects of skill profession choices are kinda locked into game code, it's not usually something a content pack mod can modify, and instead requires smapi coding
There's also skill prestige mod that allows you to earn multiple profession branches over time
Also vanilla game has an option to change professions, I think ||in the sewer, there's a statue o:||

wait if you give a modded item as a gift to an NPC without gift tastes for it, is it neutral or disliked? I just gave some custom ice cream to Gunther (using Befriend Marlon and Gunther) and it was a disliked gift, not even neutral :c
PS I'm really enjoying Dialogue Emotes! It adds a little more life to the town in a simple yet elegant way 
Default it's neutral (unless they have a category override), but next JA version lets you specify the universal taste so it defaults to whatever you want
maybe Gunther doesn't like sweets then

when 1.4 came out we thoroughly overloaded the site and overloaded the hosting limit which was using pastebin at the time i think?
so pathos migrated it to some new stuff and now there's the 4 week limit

So. Like I said, new to modding the game (tbh, relatively new to modding in general, haha). I just found Vortex through NexusMods a couple days ago, and I'm very grateful for it, haha. RN, though, I'm trying to figure out dependencies. Specifically, I've been downloading the Artisan Valley and various requirements, and like...I guess I'm trying to figure out if I need to manually go in and set dependencies in the list? So like...Artisan Valley's requirements, according to its Nexus page (https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/1926), include Content Patcher, Json Assets, etc., and also the PPJA Content Pack Collection. The page for the collection (https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/1935) says individual downloads are recommended, so I went to do it that way. Then a couple of the individual packs (e.g. More Recipes (https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/1670) require some of the other packs...
So, given all this, do I need to manually go through and set all the dependencies in Vortex, or will it all work as long as the requirements are installed?
(Also, update: plans changed, I have a little while longer at my computer 🙂 )
It'll work as long as long as you install all the required mods o:
Yep! SMAPI mod loader handles dependencies automatically, so there is no need to add that info yourself in Vortex.
And if you're missing a dependency SMAPI spits out helpful errors
And if you ever want to add a new dependency to a mod you have (sometimes needed for tweaking load order for compatibility or overlap reasons if you have lots of mods...) the best way to do that is to open up a mod's manifest.json file and add the extra dependency right in there.

overlap between dialogue mods is usually minimal. If you're worried about seeing the stuff from a new mod, you can add a dependency in the new mod's manifest to list Canon Friendly Dialogue mod. Then Canon-Friendly will load first and won't overwrite any dialogue from the other mod.

yeah, the only conflicts with dialogue mods usually are either the rare case when two mods add conflicting lore or something, or if two mods have a piece of dialogue set for the same day/heart level so you wouldn't see the dialogue from one of them

so @heavy sail first off, you need to update SMAPI! second, when you go to the path to find your log and go back to the %appdata%\StardewValley folder, is that startup preferences file in there?
Super important question: is there a mod that adds bottled water? If not, follow up question: why not O: ? (Herbert made me think of it because he has a dialog line in which he offers you a bottle of water but it's lies)
that error shouldn't really affect anything, but if you want to get rid of it, you can try deleting that file--it should recreate itself the next time you play multiplayer, and hopefully fix whatever issue there was with the file

(It's related to internal mod/SMAPI logic which sorts/compares strings. Essentially in some cases they would incorrectly consider special characters like "bup" and "bûp" to be the same string.)

That popup isn't related to downloading it from Nexus; it's just because that SMAPI build isn't in the antivirus company's databases yet, and rarely-downloaded executable == danger for most antiviruses.

If I just create a new markdown file and push that, it will end up in my user content, and I'm not sure how to make all wiki pages linking together in perfect harmony

I think you mean Producer Framework Mod (PFM). That's essentially a remake of CFR, you can use either/or, depending on the mod requirement
MFM is Mail Framework Mod. It's required by some mods to send mail
generally you don't want CFR, it's outdated and PFM is more commonly used now
and while most CFR mods were converted to PFM, not all of them were, hence why you might still want to use CFR. You can actually use both at the same time o:
yup! just be aware that if you're using something that wasn't converted, it might have some issues

it's a multiplayer thing, it's totally fine to delete it--in fact each player deleting startup_preferences is often one of the first things recommended when you're having issues connecting in multiplayer

@lapis void Also, I don't think startup_preferences should affect this, but after deleting it, all my mod keybinds, as well as Customize Child Bedroom, reset themselves. Easy fix, just thought it let you know.

You can turn on debug mode in the NPC map locations mod to find her, I'm turning it on and going to look at the town map but that may not be the same as the festival map. There's probably a faster way to check, but IDK what it is and my loading time is kinda slow because of my 500 mods...

Ah, I have SVE. That might change some things, but for me, 38, 60 is close to the fence/flowerbeds/light pole near the tables where Gus tells the story about the candy canes
So she should be super visible... if you're not seeing her, it might be a loading bug
Or it might be a different custom NPC in the same tile location
She should be north of Gus's group, on the side of the tables closer to the farm than the Jojamart.

On another note, has anyone who uses Better Junimos/crop expansion packs noticed that the junimos pick up seeds instead of crops? For some reason I have gold/silver/normal "quality" seeds in the junimo houses and I'm not sure where they're coming from

SDV is lightweight in general, so if something goes wrong with your xnbs, just verify your files to fix it.

This is the place to be for that! Most of us like to keep our game's content folder completely untouched and only work off of copies and stuff in the Mods folder, so while you can always do weird stuff via mods, it won't ever be something you can't undo.

(The only time you'd ever really need a whole copy of your game folder is in situations like we're expecting a content update so you might back up your whole game with current versions of everything so you can continue playing in its preserved state as long as you want until all your mods are updated , or just... forever I suppose)

And I mean tbh I am an expert at breaking things...like did anyone ever read Alcatraz vs. the Evil Librarians by Brandon Sanderson? That's me, at least with technology. Like pretty sure I have a backwards-King-Midas curse where I break every piece of tech I touch. (Which tbh is funny because I love tech and am an amateur (very amateur) programmer and have played with electronics and stuff...haha.) But like...okay story time. Few years back, I walked across my bedroom to sit on my bed, tripped on something right as I got to the bed, and heard a thump when I sat down. Stood back up to see what had fallen, and stepped directly on my laptop screen.
But wait, there's more...
It took us like a month to first buy a new screen and then install it into the laptop.
The very first day I had it back in working order...I dropped the computer...and BROKE THE NEW SCREEN.

Hi! I'm pretty new to mods, but I recently installed SVE and Ultimate Farm - finding both of them super great! But today I installed an update for SMAPI and Content Patcher..and now the game won't load for me anymore :(

Lemurkat was saying that the mod author may have done something to stop her from showing up. Your best bet may be posting on the mod page to explain the issue you're having with the winter star gift exchange assignment.

ruunya, some things you can try to find the npc: (i will say it's abigail for convenience)
debug wtc abigail-wtc is warp to character, so should theoretically warp you straight to her position
debug warp town 38 60--not sure how well this works on festival maps but worth a try
or, either installing the mod Debug Mode or i believe toggling on the debug mode in NPCMapLocations' config should show you the location of the tile under your cursor, and make it a bit easier to find! you may also want Noclip Mode in case the NPC is stuck inside a bush or something

No, there's nothing in the save data that stores secret santa target
It gives me an idea though.
Since custom NPCs are able to be part of the gift exchange, adding custom NPCs obviously changes the randomization result.
I suggest you find and install another NPC to your game (any social NPC will do) and then load up your save and check your mail collection to see if your assignee has changed retroactively

Though hmm... it may only work if you've been introduced to the NPC. So see if you can find one that lives somewhere accessible like Cindersap forest; try catching them there and talking to them if your first check of the mail shows no change
(and if that doesn't work, see if you can roll back one day and talk to them on Winter 24)

the first thing you notice is that, if you have horses and use the horse whistle, the game will literally yeet another player across their current map in an attempt to warp them to you

I was verY confused
when we reported this bug to Gathouria, we got a test build
and during the testing, we discovered that having a farmhand ride a horse off the farm map will cause it to clone itself
after which, every time you mount or dismount the horse
it spawns a new clone
one time we actually couldn't see any clones and we thought it was fixed
but then we pulled up the animal list and turns out there were like 30
they were lost in the void
oh and then really fucky things started happening to the farmer sprite

Yeah. 1.16 is a feature update, not a bugfix, so it's not going to make anything you use better by using it. Save maybe SVO with the optimisations added.

My horse story is not as funny. I was in a multiplayer game mainly for testing purposes but with occasional silliness and pranks. My internet is pretty bad, and there were several days where I would get locked out of chests and stuff like that because it took so long to open, I would have to leave the area just to let someone else use it because I couldn't close it until I could see it open.

There are probably some not good side effects to multiple lag induced horse clones in different interiors but ... :D

For those of you wondering how the "where is Abandoned Bride" story ended, she doesn't appear at festivals until you see her 8 heart event and if you have SVE she doesnt' appear at all. Unless you delete the condition, which we did.
So, i think i already fixed this, so i don't know if logs will help. But, i updated smapi and like, 3 mods that had updates and it gave me an error. I was looking at it and it seemed to be doing what it did the last time i had and error. Which was trying to read a save that was no longer there. Last time i went into the files and removed them manually and it fixed it. Which fixed it this time to, thing is, i haven't created any new characters or save files since the first time. So i don't know where the save file that gave me the error came from. Cause it's not the file I'm playing on. Is that a thing that can happen, a save you never made coming up out of thin air?
Have you checked the saves folder for the file in question?
It's hard to guess without the details - I would not expect "a save you never made coming up out of thin air", but it would probably be hard to figure out what happened after it's fixed 
Yea, it was there and i removed it and it fixed it. But, i haven't actually made any new saves, so i don't know where it came from.

PS, my junimo kart shrine (oh, or at least what looks to be a WIP of it, sadly) in that game 😔 (it was almost entirely unmodded, so no crib removal and fun additional placement items shakes fist
It really is, cause last time i went into appdata and removed the file in question which fixed it, cause i had deleted an old save but apparently there was a reminant there. Doing that this time as well fixed it to. But, i haven't made any new saves since i did that.
The needing to clean up leftover files after deleting in-game saves part is normal, at least.

usually relating to Bad Gift Taste data or inability to load certain files so we'll use this one instead.
Huh, the only red text i got never actually caused any issues. It was more like hey, we're trying to find a save that isn't there even though it's not the one you are trying to play on, maybe go delete it.

@deep totem You can place grass wherever you like, including inside! It just will only spread on the farm :) The trees are furniture items you can get in game!

No. I have automate, chests anywhere, lookup anything, tractor mod, cjb cheats, automatic gates, stack everything, ui info suite, non destructive npcs, and npc map locations.
(thought that said more destructive npcs for a second)

Anyway, for anyone having the same issues that I'm having. Just find a dat file under its internal folder. For example, on Windows it is a file named windows-install.dat move that file to the Stardew directory and use the Zip Application of your preference to open it and extract its content.
Why? Just to make sure that the file is there. Then go to Windows Security -> Virtus & Threat protection -> Protection history, select actions and whitelist the executable.

@vernal cipher do you run a lot of mods that replace textures and stuff? Those sorts of mods (and SVO especially) can take a good deal of loading time when exiting the farmhouse in the morning

If you run the game again it always overwrites the last log. No need to delete
because as I noticed, as soon as I get out of the farmhouse there are tons of things being logged

@junior musk You can just make a copy of your entire 1.4.x game folder, Mods and all. That way you can keep playing your modded saves with all your mods as is, and also update to latest.

I suppose it's an issue with mods that aren't being actively maintained. I don't use many, but out of all those, UI Info seems to be the one that may seem a little abandoned. Or there just hasn't been a reason to update it.
And some really kind artists have made multiple sets of alternate grandpa portraits

If a mod is open source it'll usually get updated eventually. (Though UI Info Suite consists of various features other individual mods also do, and often better :) )

well afaik anything that writes down to a file creates a bottleneck
specially if it is a verbose file (in this example a text file)
if it was simply a dat file it would be faster

it improved the starting time though, the game starts way faster
there should be two options, first disable the smapi console, only a background process
second, disable logging
anything that gives inputs is prone to slow down applications
The game unfreezing when the logging stops doesn't necessarily mean the logging is the issue though. The logging will pause when it has nothing to write, so presumably whatever gnarly thing is going on that causes the freeze ends, which causes the log to stop progressing, and then you unfreeze.
I'd mute this channel. The last thing I would want is an option to disable the single most important troubleshooting tool so that everyone who gets the idea that logging is a problem turns it off

there's really not much in this log. farm type manager and deep wood do a bit, but I don't see why that would cause hangs
You can disable the console on Linux, but Pathos would have to answer on the logging, or modify and build from source I guess.
