Nicknames are separate from account names! You can set per-server nicknames (like your current one) by right clicking the server icon on the left and clicking "change nickname"

It was made for eemie's recolor, so that should cover the exterior!

(I don't know if I could call Nexus most convenient except in the sense of "that's where all the stuff is". The change to require registration was understandable because of DP tracking, but burying the free option was confusing and shitty, and the nagging for premium like we're on some mega site or something... grumbles

Yea I commend minerva moving to ModDrop although she has different reasons I think, I've debated at least having my mods on both, but I'm worried it'll be a pain to maintain 2 different sites and Github 😔
You can just sync Nexus to ModDrop, though.
I only started using Nexus this year, so it feels much easier to me than hunting through forum posts. Moddrop seems slightly nicer in terms of advertising and setup, but I've never downloaded anything there either so I'm not sure how the process really works. It is really wonderful that most Stardew mods are in one single place, or at least linked from the comments. Once you learn one system, you mostly don't have to move.
Trying to figure out LotRO mods (which are not called mods and mostly don't change much about the game except parsing your dps for you) was much... harder. Forum posts

You publish on Nexus and from inside ModDrop client there are steps to link them "Choose Sync my mods from another site."

The last update was in June. I ask because part of your log looks similar to someone who posted earlier today who updated SVE recently. Their issue was partly that they didn't delete all the old files and then do a clean reinstall-the whole file structure changed this time so things are in different places and some things get missed

Another thing is that you now need Expanded Preconditions Utility for Shop Tile Framework. Just downloading that should fix some of your red text, but we may also need to delve into your file structure and make sure you don't have any old versions of SVE lurking in there

Easiest thing for you might be to go to the SVE page on Nexus and follow the special download instructions (delete EVERYTHING that has to do with SVE, then redownload it and put it in your mods folder just like it has in the screenshot on the guide).
You're missing the CP part, the rest of it won't work without that and it's probably messing up other things too

Yeahhh, I doubt it. "Running fine" can be like "I'm in the game and I see a patch I expect" and not realizing none of the NPCs are loading, no schedules are edited, custom locations are crashing, etc 😅
You can tell that piece is missing by checking the first skipped mod in your log (and also I can see that my log has a SVE component loaded by CP and yours does not) so I'm pretty sure that's missing

Maybe it got deleted on accident just recently? I think it is the folder that's in parentheses if you download it from Nexus. Should look like this in your mods folder, right at the top: (Stardew Valley Expanded)

The custom locations in SVE rely on tilesheets provided by that pack, so not having it would wreck a looooot of stuff. You'd notice if you were already used to SVE content :)

Yeah, that's why I was suggesting maybe it was very recent, since you'd notice it was gone having been used to SVE content that would no longer work 😄

sorry to derail but i have a question about stardew valley expanded? i just put all the folders in the right places and tried to start the game but i saw in that box where you see the code, that there was only red text! it wouldnt stop either... i copied a good chunk of it since it seems like its mostly repetitive

@stable anchor do not place the unzipped folder here! it can mess up the install process. Unzip to somewhere like Desktop and run the installer file from there.

@cunning night did you choose "far away cabin placement" during setup? The IF2R farm map that comes with SVE has a bug where no cabins will be placed unless you choose "nearby cabin placement"
You can just zoom over to Robin's and build a cabin, they're cheap and finish instantly when you buy them.

hello, quick question here. I have been following this longevity mod install guide from a Youtube user ZifuHell and he extracts the longevity folder which i unfortunately do not have. Any help will be appreciated. I was wondering if extracting the zip file into the mod folder will do the trick.

If you're determined to still use it, there's lots of other extractor programs you can use, like 7zip which is free
i originally had it installed and i don't know if it still works with the game's current version.

I've used Winter Grass (tbh I forgot a lot about it) but switched to More Grass, but I can help you. Have you tried looking in Winter Grass's config.json?

Pandemonium135, looks like you're right. It is Longevity throwing the warp error and for a Clint outfit 
The SpaceCore error is normal in multiplayer
If that doesn't help, the More Grass mod keeps grass growing in Winter instead (with a little config tweaking).

Problem solved. I looked at the source of the installer: the problem is that I provided the path to the Stardew Valley directory, and it actually expected Stardew Valley/game directory. It also looked for SDV at $"{home}/GOG Games/Stardew Valley/game", so I just put a symbolic link at that location.
Once the download is finished, you press on the download at the bottom, and press on SMAPI 3.6. installer, and press on what you use, Mac, Windows or Linux
did you enable achievements?
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\StardewModdingAPI.exe" %command%
Meaning did you copy this into Stardew Valley properties, by right clicking SDV in Steam, pressing properties and pressing set launch options. Then copy that into the launch options

looks like you have a couple of mods to update, but yea the incompatibility from the red error messages seems to be from "Child Age Up", and "seasonal kid take after spouse"

Yeah, IDK which one you downloaded. If you put your log in here, we can probably figure it out. If you wanna just try it, you can. Content Patcher mods are some of the safest ones out there, so it shouldn't break your game, fingers crossed

Safest -> Content Patcher is often just adjusting how things look without changing how the game is running.
Sometimes mods aren't properly set as far as version configuration and stuff, which can be a false indicator that it needs to update. Other times they legit need an update and it's not on nexus or something.

CJB Cheat Menu has the option to adjust movement speed. I know there's one for faster animations in general. Dunno what else is out there but I wouldn't be surprised if there are other movement speed mods.
yea there's other mods like Zoomy Farmer, Sprint Sprint, and Sprint Sprint Sprint (the one with 2 sprints is actually newer than the one with 3 sprints, don't ask me why lol)

yeah, it lets you give each individual animal a unique skin
randomized from all the skins you drop into its folder
and you can still assign specific skins to each animal too

bigcraftable is a type of item in the game. They're the stuff you can place and usually takes 2 tiles ( though some only uses one of the tiles, like the campfire, which just has an invisible top tile )

I think the biggest one I have is SVE and it's something like 65 MB. 1 GB is 1024 MB. Most of the ones I have are measured in KB. 1 GB is 1048576 KB.

MO2 is necessary for keeping modded Skyrim running smooth(...ish), but Moddrop works well for Stardew.
I would probably use Moddrop for both if it wasn't so important to resolve stuff using MO2 for Elder Scrolls games.

I think we've talked about this yesterday but there isn't an easy, centralized way to see all your modded keybinds, correct? You just have to go into each config.json and see?
if you're looking to see if a specific key is binded to anything in mods, i guess you could use some find function on shell of some sort (powershell on windows, right?), and then use grep (unix) or findstr (windows, apparently) to search for "key" (no idea of the syntax for windows)

You can open your mod folder in VSCode and do the same kind of search using ctrl+shift+f
that does rely on every config option to bind a key having a name that suggests as much though

Hey folks, any advice on how to get a "clean" install of SDV? Too many mods going right now so I wanted to get rid of my files, reinstall/update the game, and then add stuff back in.

It's the GOG version, so I suppose manually

for gog you can just use the installer to reinstall it (in a different location if you want to preserve the Mods folder for example, or take a backup first)

that's my thinking yeah. I don't know offhand where SMAPI and the mods directory lives by default on mac, but if the mod files go somewhere else they won't be seen.
SMAPI I believe has an uninstall option if you run the installer again, which could clean up the SMAPI-specific files.

Hello! I'm playing Stardew Valley for the first time in about three years and I learned about Stardew Valley Expanded. I think I went through all the various downloads and installs properly. Is it normal that I can only launch the game through the mod manager now? Steam says it can't find the game to launch.

@river scaffold If you're using steam and were using mods in the past, you might have had steam's 'launch options' set up to point at SMAPI already. Might need to update the string there if SMAPI is in a different spot now than it was in the past.

For SMAPI the file you download is an installer. You'll want to put that basically anywhere except the stardew valley directory and launch it. It'll let you install SMAPI then it should print out the full string to put in the launch options section.

By default anyways. If you customized the install location, then yeah, reinstall and have it live inside the stardew valley directory.

The launch option is basically hijacking steam to launch the modding API code, which then launches the game. You can run it outside of steam without using that, but this way steam achievements and the like still work. 🙂

That dog is the first dog you can get, the one Marnie gives you at one point
if you added a dog skin, you need to use the console to set your dog to the number you want--there are instructions on the mod page
otherwise a&s will just pick the first dog skin it has, the one that's bundled with the mod
I chose the 3rd dog option while making a new file (CollieBlack) This is Elle's dog replacment
only 148 config files to dig through for keybinds 
although I am learning there are mods that have keybinds I didn't even know about 😄

you need to add the CollieBlack file as a skin in adopt and skin's dogs folder, named dog2 or whatever number you want, and then set the dog you have to that skin number using the console

Simply rename dog_1 into something like dog_2 and then rename the new skin you added dog_1

@zinc smelt you have mods to update, check the top of the log. You also have a lot of Skipped mods (the red text section). I recommend going through those one by one and installing missing dependencies, deleting extra copies, etc.

@grave schooner it's not possible, sorry. Even if you had a jailbroken switch to use mods with, you could only use XNB type mods, not SMAPI mods like SVE.

No, modding in general won't upset progress or prevent you from getting achievements. Although if you're on Windows, you'll need to set your launch options in Steam so that it launches your modded game through there so you can still get them (Part 2: configure Steam on this page: https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Installing_SMAPI_on_Windows#Option_A:_use_SMAPI.27s_installer)
Some mods may make things harder or add new milestones or change the flow or content of vanilla events though, so it just depends what you install. (@eager tide )

You can fix it I think by going into the Nagito NPC folder:

Open that file.
Find the part that says

and replace it with
{{spacechase0.JsonAssets/ObjectId:Bouquet of Hope}}

You know... I wish that SMAPI would sort those errors a little more intuitively.
Separate the "requires mods that aren't installed" errors from the "needs this mod which couldn't be loaded" errors.
Because the first type of error is more important, really. You could have hundreds of errors of the second type, and they might be hella distracting but would all resolve immediately as soon as you install the missing mod from the first type of error.

Sure. It already has separate sort/grouping when a mod failed to load, and other mods depend on the failed mod.
So it'd be something like...
- dependencies which failed;
- mods which need a dependency which failed;
- mods which need a dependency which isn't installed;
- other failed mods.
This might make walls of red text less intimidating for those who aren't confident reading logs

Let's say you install a content pack that needs Content Patcher.
2: You have Content Patcher installed, but it failed to load (e.g. you need a newer version of SMAPI).

Okie. That makes sense. I would show group 3. above group 2. then. Because group 2 errors will each already have an corresponding entry in group 1 (from the dependency itself), whereas group 3 errors have non-redundant information that won't be covered by any other errors in the log.

It does add dialogue to NPCs that may not exist (MarlonFae, Jasper, Juliet) without HasMod conditions but that wont make an error message in smapi.
Jasper is hidden until I finish testing his 14 heart. I took him down to fix a rather serious bug and decided to not put him back up until he was finished.
(The bug wont break the game but I dont recommend marrying him if you like talking to Jas.)
I still get bad gift taste on Charlie and Randy (which I can fix but lose the fix everytime he updates) and Nagito being unable to find Bouquet of Hope.
Which I could probably fix.
@royal arrow It's probably just fine, I would say. Maps are a bit different than others in terms of when it's appropriate to use Load vs. Edit! As long as the map it's loading isn't like... outdated (as in, a more recent update to the game changed the same map), and as long as no other mod wants to load the same map, you're good.

I would phrase it as, "if it only edits the corner of it, ideally it would trim it down to a map patch, but it's only a problem if you end up wanting to use a full-replacement map that also uses Load and is more entitled to it" or something

@broken frost radius 81 would cover the entire map if the autograbber was in the middle of it. You could bump that to 100 for wiggle room with your coverage.

Hello again! I made sure the installer was in a separate folder, made sure the moddingapi files were in Steam's common folder for stardew, and made sure the launch path was correctly set. I'm still getting errors that it can't find the game =/ any ideas?
So you had the installer folder in a seperate Location and ran the installer? What output did it give when installation finished?
If you launch the stardewmoddingapi.exe file directly, does everything launch?

yep! the output it gave correctly matched the location of the api.exe, which is in the primary stardewvalley folder (where the regular launcher is)

@toxic eagle I'm using starblue and it works fine. I think I tweaked a couple sprites here or there. If you use NPC map locations it has minimap versions for various combinations as well.
The black window you see is the smapi console. It's very useful for debugging stuff, but if everything runs fine you rarely need to look at it
(and if you ever need to read or share errors logged in the console, using https://smapi.io/log makes it a LOT smoother and grabs more information that the console doesn't show)

Copy the whole YourName_3216713162 folder and paste it somewhere else (like Desktop, Documents, doesn't matter really). You'll only need to use it if we accidentally mess something up lol

After you've made the backup, go inside the original Saves/YourName_3216713162 folder. You should see a few different files.

yea I use UI Info Suite with NPC Map Locations and just toggle off that feature of UI Info Suite. NPC Map Locations has a special download for SVE 
K so there are I think two files you'll need to edit. One is called the same as the folder name (e.g. YourName_3216713162). The other one is called SaveGameInfo

(You can ignore the files called YourName_3216713162_old and SaveGameInfo_old. These are just the game's internal backups)
So take one of those files I mentioned, and open it in a text editor. Any editor will do (even something as basic as Notepad) but if you have something better like Notepad++ or SublimeText it can be easier to navigate.

Just change false to true or vice versa to change gender. Then save the file.
After that do the same thing with SaveGaveInfo file.
Then save and you're done! Try running the game and make sure it all works.
