If you turn the fireplace "off" and go back out it shouldn't bw there
@hybrid marlin dialog incompatibility issues are pretty minor if they do occur. The mod loaded last "wins" and that's the dialog line you'll see, so it's not like there will be a crash. the biggest issue would be in "lore conflicts" where a character was written one way in 1 mod but differently in another

Although that Abigail mod also adds events, so you may see glitchy events with SVE, since SVE changes a lot of the maps

Does anybody have any issues with receiving achievements? Some go through and some won't.
So today I'm learning Stardew Valley mods are pyramid mods.
A mod I want will require two different mods, and THOSE mods will require two different mods, etc.
I just got networking achievement and it didn't show up on Steam but the clique one I got yesterday did. ; ;
And as a result, I'm going to end up with a bunch of different farming mods all because I just wanted a personal anvil mod ;_;

As a matter of fact, I have 8 achievements in the game but have only 5 on Steam.

(unrelated but I use the Brave browser on my computer and my phone, which blocks ads without using extensions, so I was thoroughly confused about allegro down there LOL I always forget the internet looks very different from what I'm used to)

I feel quite certain Marnie does not raise meat animals on her ranch. She's far too softhearted for that.
Also on the note of things I installed for Artisan Valley, has anyone else experienced the Kitchen Station Set not seeing the contents of the fridges, except at the station right next to the fridge?

i am sorry if i disturb but i seem to have an issue with my game. actually when i wanna end the day the sound of a level up appears and then my game makes a CTD. i tryed figureing it out with removeing the mods i installed lately but that dosnt seemd to have it fixed ;w; yesterday it worked fine but now i dont know what should i else do to fix it. Also before the CTD happens smapi shows some error messages in red but the window closes its to fast to actually read something out of it. would be nice if someone could help me. i would unlikely just deinstall the game since i had some fun playing with mods ;w;

@supple echo I don't think it currently pulls ingredients from the main fridge. I asked Cherry about this earlier today and she said it would pull from the mini-fridges but not the main fridge. It being the framework mod, Custom Crafting Stations (CCS)

!xnb I'm not sure what all of these mean, but it looks like you were trying to use some XNB mods, so resetting/verifying your game files might not be a bad idea
XNB mods often break the game and are not recommended. Ok, that first link also has a list of Content Patcher (CP) conversions for XNB mods, so you can check there for the one you wanted. Someone might have converted it to CP and you can still use it! 
SMAPI found and didn't load a few XNB mods that were probably in your mods folder instead of replacing game files, but I don't think we have any way to tell if you had others

Ok so couple things:
up at the very top, 2 mods are listed as needing updates, you can grab those.
Then the bit of red text Skipped mods is letting you know Teh's Fishing Overhaul didn't load because it's no longer compatible, and provides you a link to mods.smapi.io. Go there, and you can search for Teh's Fishing Overhaul, there's an unofficial update to it
Note about one of those mods that needs an update: It's an old, broken mod

It was kind of an important one. Without fixing it would mean that offering a quest and then an item in same dialogue entry (even without any dialogue ! marks), the quest offer would break
So @daring wagon your red text irritation turned out to be very helpful to save some future QF modder a huge headache! 
Hmmm. The kitchen stations are… sometimes seeing what's in my mini-fridges. Slash the regular fridge.
so by the sink seems to be fine…
couple things:
- do you have the latest update?
- what's the radius you set in the config? by default, it only pulls from chests/mini-fridges "directly next to the station"
config? -checks all the kitchen stations, then remembers to check the CustomCraftingStation mod itself- Ahh. Well, as soon as I get further over than the sink and the stove, the fridge is apparently not "right next to the station" anymore. In fact, my mini-fridges are across the room, though that's oddly not a problem at the stations right by the main fridge
after tinkering around some, and adding the new Health Bars mod, it says that an update is available for it, but the page it sends me to on nexusmods is for 'Lookup Anything'. guessing it's just a typo?
Emil, yea that can sometimes happen, you can always try searching for the actual mod in nexus and verify you have the latest version
all right, I'm setting the radius to 10 and seeing if that helps
@supple echo yea the config for CCS has the radius setting, and it's by tiles, so the default value, which I think is 0, is only 1 tile away, while 1 is actually 2 tiles away, etc.
however, remember the main fridge is currently not registering with CCS. mini-fridges work because internally in the code, they're technically "chests"

Okay. I think I thought the entire kitchen had custom whatever overlaid on it because I'm still only seeing a subset of recipes at the vanilla stove and sink
Ah! so the kitchen station set mod still removes recipes from the vanilla stove, because they're now available on the custom stations
@hearty mantle I had a little lag trouble with Climates of Ferngill. Maybe your friend can try disabling that (put a . in front of the name of the mod folder) and see if that lets them load in more easily?
It's a great mod, just a kind of big one and a place to start with looking

Easy fix
Both Kimchi Maker and Artisan Valley Machine Goods try to add an object named Kimchi. Just delete or rename the one you like least.

Nah, I use the zoom feature a lot on PS4, but it gets tiring having to zoom in to read it then zoom out to keep playing.

I know it works to fix events where player gets stuck on things that aren't usually there. I'm not sure whether it works to fix if an NPC gets stuck 🤔

i haven't seen an npc get stuck in an event, they just phase through walls usually

you can hit it with a pickaxe, it's native feature
just don't hit the ||ancient fruit|| plant right next to it....
@modest estuary looks like the issue you reported earlier wrt recolored text hasn't been resolved yet. In all likelihood it's one of DaisyNiko's maps, such as Ultimate Farm, that's behind it; the "arrows" file in Assets intercepts just those letters.
We had the same issue in our MP game and ended up manually recoloring that file
Reposting my quick question from #town-square: Is there any other page besides Nexusmods where mods are aggregated? I know they are around for quite a while yet their praxis still seems rather exploitative to me (and not really useful on a linux machine)

BTW, there seems to be a problem with sites scraping mods and distributing them without permission so they can make ad revenue or whatever, so stick to Nexus, ModDrop, author GitHubs and the unofficial update thread.

if not, you can check the other SVE-related folders for a config.json

Yeah, most of the farm animals on my first farm were named after Steven Universe characters
sometimes I'll also go for the classics and name them after Looney Tunes characters, or other cartoon characters

Good evening. Might anyone know which or what kind of mod could be causing people to get trapped in JojaMart? When I go there, they're nowhere to be seen nor are they where they're supposed to be according to their normal schedule. I've installed so many mods recently and tried to remove the ones I thought might be the problem but I couldn't find the answer so far.
for it me it was more of a "whaat o:" because up until that point, I had an even distribution going of the white and brown chickens (idk why, the OCD-like tendencies kick in and I was trying to have even distributions of all the different animal varieties in the coop and barn)

wait it happens in the saloon too? o: I've only had it happen in the JojaMart. Also for me it's not reproducible, it'll randomly happen one day, and be fine the next. and even reloading the save sometimes fixes it (but then I lose the progress)

That particular cause is easily fixed - or, well, nudged so that it doesn't happen again, but NPC pathing is a little scary
It's not the only possible cause, but for that particular location it is the most likely
I will install it now and I can provide a feedback whether or not it happens on the next few days in the game. I am after all pretty addicted to the game, hehe
LenneDalben the logs say nooothing about it. I was mostly mocking myself for staring at the scroll for the first game hour - I was so sure it was just a simple config/content json issue. ;_;
There's no one mod that would be at fault for that particular cause either, anything that can nudge the pathing a bit might have them go through that door (AFAIK). Map mods can make it not happen by just putting a dirt tile under the left door (NPCs prefer not to get their feet dirty if avoidable :P ) and the override pack straight up removes one of them just to rule it out hehe

hi tati, if you have the latest version installed, then it's likely that the manifest.json file just has an outdated version #. You can manually update the version number yourself if you like by opening the manifest.json file in any text editor (Notepad or something similar) and changing the version number to the one SMAPI mentions in the purple text in the console

So far working all the time. I've found only scroll 2, but now all scrolls are animating in all locations. Testing some theories.

To share my tale of woe, I realized that if I opened my crafting menu while in my farmhouse before stepping outside, I could see the little animated junimo scarecrow doing its thing. But when I stepped outside, it stopped animating
it was because Medieval Craftables was reloading the tilesheet when I went outside, and for some reason that interfered with the CP-A stuff
re: jojamart pathing problems, huhu i've been experiencing it too even with vanilla maps. will try mouse's patch and hopefully it works

In this case you could even ignore the message tati - it's a warning that there are updates available which can be useful if you have issues because something is outdated, but it'll still load things as long as SMAPI doesn't consider it broken I think.

one way to confirm it for yourself is that the date you downloaded it is after the last upload date on nexus

I have a couple dialogue mods that haven't been updated in like two years (and I only got Stardew a couple of months ago!), but I still get that "update available" error. Maybe I'll fix it manually sometime, maybe I won't bother.
lol yea it's harmless but some cough me not only sat there and updated all version #'s manually, but also added update keys to most of the mods missing them 
(there's a reason I spend more time modding and tweaking mods than playing the game)

Is there a console command to skip a cutscene? I'm stuck in a cutscene of a custom NPC and the dialogue option is bugging out.
just more info: I got into Robin's house, possibly triggering an event. The "loading" left-bottom corner thingy showed up and I was confused since that had never happened before. Then I checked the log and it was spamming errors lol I closed the game in despair
I think there is a command to end them? you'd have to check the wiki page on debug commands though, search by event
LenneDalben bonus fun: nuking the config to let it rebuild the file (thought maybe I had a stray weird glyph in there) or disabling the mod and re-enabling has no effect, characters where the scrolls are animating they keep animating (except when disabled), but for each new character I test they're static sprites until sleeping.

feels like something has to be cached somewhere for these specific animations that happens when (or near) the save code runs, but also no other CP-A animations have the same req. O_o

It's not just the scrolls. It's anything from maps/springobjects. Tilesheets/furniture all works fine.
@dire fractal that is a common bug with CP-A. If you have mods that change a tilesheet with certain CP tokens CP-A will revert to static
it only happens when the dynamic CP token changes
which must get updated 'overnight' when it runs <name of thing I forget but was in the log>

Hello! I'm almost completed the main game (quests, heart events, family etc) and was wondering what you guys think of that big extension mod? Does it provide enough new content to be worth a new playthrough? Are there other mods that add new story content? (Sorry to derail)

I assume you're referring to Stardew Valley Expanded. I think consensus is that it's definitely worth a new playthrough, best enjoyed on a new one actually. It adds lots of new content
I think it's better as a new playthrough because you'll miss stuff tied to early content otherwise, but it's possible to play it on an existing save. I'm not really familiar with all the ins and outs of what it adds, but there are other NPC mods you can add too that have varying degrees of complexity and compatibility
There are other mods as well that add to characters, like Immersive Characters - Shane, the Ranch Expansion (Jas and Marnie), Life Cycle, and Rival Heart Events
i actually just started a new playthrough with that mod, i'm enjoying it so far!
+1 on the first two at least, I like the other two in concept but haven't actually tried them yet (I just want rival events period, even if I'd like them to work differently)
(I'm a pretty lazy player and a bad farmer so I'd like more mods that make more things happen without my intervention :D )

well the intent for Platonic Relationships was to be able to befriend everyone to their max heart level without dating them, so it's doing what it set out to do lol
@supple echo overlap between dialogue mods is usually minimal. If you're worried about seeing the stuff from a new mod, you can add a dependency in the new mod's manifest to list Canon Friendly Dialogue mod. Then Canon-Friendly will load first and won't overwrite any dialogue from the other mod.

I was discussing Platonic Relationships with Cherry earlier and I mentioned my only worry is that the checks 29 dialog expansion mods I have may make villagers flirt with me and tell me they love me when we're just friends 
I think I started with character and some of the smaller visual mods (well, and scythe harvest and the tractor because I was on Y3 vanilla on my first farm at the time), but hoo boy have I expanded since then

Cherry had mentioned someone had also provided her some event rewrites, so the events are platonic as well, but Cherry hasn't looked at implementing those just yet. Event coding is hard

Yeah, my idea of Krobus is of someone that's been on the borders of things for a long time and observing people, so I like that he can talk to you in your own language even if you headcanoned that shadow people in general spoke something else.

I found Krobus standing way off in front of the adventurer's guild last Spirit's Eve (SVE, again) and he was all sad and worried about his "friends" the shadow brutes in Marlon's cage's and what would happen to them after the festival 😢
Hmm, maybe a confrontation between Krobus and Marlon could be one o: and the farmer can either support Krobus or BE A TERRIBLE PERSON about it (cuz ya gotta have options). I guess there could also be a middle ground noncommital response
yeah! Marlon is helping Krobus hide in the sewers in SVE, but it seems there's still something of a values split

it would be an interesting character arc if Krobus grew to, say, be an open ambassador between shadow people and humans or something, and got the farmer to help him

the error isn't with the pack, it's an issue with pytk/CWF

i see that someone had an issue with custom walls being applied to all sheds when put in one shed and that it was fixed, it's possible the fix could have borked something in the logic for sheds
from what routine has said it looks like it's best to hold off on putting custom walls/floors in sheds or cabins until he looks at it further

so if you've got custom walls stuck in any of your buildings, you can use that reset_walls command in the console window
but yeah it was last updated back in february, the dev is active so hopefully it's on his agenda

After unpacking donloaded file make sure you copy/move all the folders into Mods
You're also missing Custom Music and Custom NPC Fixes, I think
They are also included in SVE

(unless you really know what you're doing but it's very easy for a beginner to mess something up when using vortex)

I still use vortex instead of manual modding cause it can be helpful but to do that you have to be aware of the ways it can mess up and consciously avoid them.
It's great for skyrim mods. But skyrim mods require a bunch of complex functionality to manage in any sane capacity.

What does vortex download do?
Vortex is a mod manager. Nexus (and maybe others?) can trigger the vortex application if you want to pull the file down directly into it instead of just downloading the archive.

just use Mod Organizer or MO2 for Bethesda games. Obviously can't guarantee it'll be stable, but at least the mods are in a nice virtual folder, away from game files, and you get a lot more control in how to resolve mod conflicts. I don't think Vortex has this ability

I hear you lol I followed Gopher and GamerPoet videos to get to the stage I did with my Bethesda modding, but even then, I am too ambitious with my load order and the game can crash at any minute, really.
Meanwhile the most I get with SDV is a bit of lag or stutter every once in a while, but no "could happen any time now" crashes. Although, maybe I should look at tweaking my Automate settings and see if that improves performance 
With adopt n skin it says you can find wild horses, would you need a stable? And I have elles horse replacement mod, and chose Marwari, would only Marwari horses come?
And does adopt n skin work with SV Expanded
i use adopt'n'skin with SVE and don't know of any significant problems
the wild horses didn't seem to work correctly for me, they never appeared on the farm for instance. but i don't have reasons to suspect it was because of SVE
i don't even know how the wild horses are supposed to work though
@dire fractal SMAPI automatically keeps 10 IRL days of save backups. They'll be zipped folders inside the save-backups folder.

sounds like it's the marriage event specifically that crashes, not anything else related to marriage, so maybe a mod that skips the marriage event for farmhands...
( as an easy workaround. otherwise, probably find what's crashing in the marriage event and patch that )
I use Elle's Seasonal Buildings, and for some reason the coops are now using their default textures?
And Sebastian's bike just disappeared.
the coops have switched to the default textures for me too but I was using medieval buildings. I think some newly installed mod may be loading later and overwriting them but I'm not sure which one that may be
I dunno about Sebastian's bike - it might be an outdated CP mod that doesn't have 1.4 content
For the coops though, are you using Animals Need Water mod?

If it's helpful at all, this is most often caused not by an edit to that sheet but by the farm map reordering the tilesheets by not prefixing new ones
(It could be someone screwing up those tiles too of course, but the ordering thing is a real goose chase the first time!)

You would need to edit the map in Tiled and rename the tilesheets that aren't paths or the outdoors tilesheets to start with z (or whatever as long as they don't come before outdoors sheets). I'm on mobile and can't open maps right now, but I could check it out in an hour or so if still needed

Yeah Save Anywhere might help you. It is incompatible with a number of other mods, but if it's the only mod you're running you should be fine @dawn saffron

Manual save works too, I just need to remember to save after a productive mining session or after watering 240 crops

@daring wagon Well, I WOULD LIKE to find a fix for the crashes, but they are random and thus PAINFUL to debug, and sometimes it crashes without producing an error message in the logs.

@heavy sail I will be out for a bit, but if it does end up being the problem with spouse area after all, another option besides editing yourself would be to uninstall and use something like https://www.moddrop.com/stardew-valley/mods/647584-pet-house-buildables-for-tmx-loader which lets you build pet houses where you want them! I don't think it should be possible for buildables or map merges in CP or TMX to cause ordering issues anymore (new tilesheets are auto prefixed), plus you can use a custom farm map and still have a pet house if you want.

Basically I'm pretty sure I followed the instructions in the player guide on the wiki but for some reason when I try to run the code in the terminal on my mac that would make my txt file executable, it seems like it runs, but it's not changing anything

Someone recently reported that same exact thing and said they didn't have any mods besides SVE that messed with music. They said they'd post in the comments on the SVE Nexus page to see if anyone else had the same issue-you could look over there to see if they found a fix for it or figured out if it came from a different mod. Do you know if you have any other mods that affect the game music?

I think SVE is the only one with custom music, but here's the log.
It does load new music when I switch to a new area (ie, Farm to Town), but it's still weird.
I wish there was a mod that allowed you to herd your animals in at night
The only mod you share under the Custom Music mod is indeed SVE, but thinking about that, I wonder if it's custom music itself?
I think you can also get NPCs or some other things that do events to play music, not sure if that falls under custom music.
@waxen pewter Have you changed the file type from .txt to .sh? If not, try that, then run chmod +x insertfilename.sh in your command line. You can then test it by typing ./filename.sh

@white wing I'd check SVE and Custom Music's Nexus pages for a fix, or (the other thing that was suggested for the other person) you could try toggling off each of your mods individually by putting a . in front of the folder name in your Mods folder and see which one changes that behavior (I think you can toggle off SVE's custom music patch individually, not sure?)

I don't think steam is happy about two games pointing to the same executable, but you can make a shortcut and have it pointed towards the shortcut
( I have mod groups attached to shortcuts and I've registered them all to launch from steam )

(re: wabbajack, it should technically work with Stardew using Vortex - it was initially for MO2 so it was sort of modmanager focused - but I'm not sure they added a way yet to just do simple folder installation. When I asked about it some time back it was a probably will do but not yet, and I'm not sure what the plans are now. ModDrop has modpacks that work similarly in the whole "download from source" sense, though.)

You could launch Steam with same applaunch argument, or change Steam launch options directly to add --mods-path, or just use non-steam start scripts and connect via IP
I connect just using IP all the time cause sometimes I launch the game from visual studio

The Steam launch options just points to the smapi executable. You can do the low-tech version of mod groups just by having different mod folders, e.g.
Mods-Friends
Mods-Solo
Mods-SVE
...and then right before you want to play, rename the folder you want to use to just Mods

No, in this case you add the--mods-pathargument to the launch options (which they are already using). Linux/Mac don't do the SMAPI executable launch options.

something I've started doing recently was having a few different loadouts inside the Mods folder
so it'd be

/Debug
/PPJA
/temp
and I put a . in front of anything to disable them, but that's because my testing setup has gotten more and more complex and different mod groups are annoying when making mods since I don't wanna mess with my target in my build settings XD
thats a simplified version but I have a folder for "every JA mod ever to test custom items stuff" and "here's specific mods I might have compat problems with" etc
and its a lot of enabling and disabling stuff on the fly lol
Yeah for the longest time I just multi-selected folders to rename with . all at once, then multi-selected folders to rename and remove the . all at once, and then sometimes I have a .turnoffpls to just drag a bunch if the disabled folders start really piling up 😅
All of my work folders are just such a mess at this point that being in them is a lot like being in a trashed room where you're like "I should really clean up, but..."

Although watch out if you ever want to go back to playing that save without mods ... some mods can cause crashes if you try going back to vanilla
It can be a good idea to keep a backup of the vanilla savefolder in its current state in case you ever want to revert

that's cool though. in rimworld if you try to play a save file that was created without like the set of mods you currently have enabled, you just can't play that file until you revert your mods to match
in stardew you can pretty much add and remove mods on the fly. some mods will need special steps to avoid bricking the save, but it's all possible to do safely
So if you find a cool rimworld mod halfway into a save game... you can't add it? 
i'm sure i have both added and removed mods on rimworld during the same playthrough
maybe it's a feature from the mod manager i used
it does warn you about the mismatch, but you can load the save anyway. at least in my case

I had tried to multiple options (including launch options) and then just clarified the "all the launch options do..." part since it wouldn't be for SMAPI executable in that case :) Those two options feel like like same tactic from different directions - one keeps it always pointing at Mods but changes which folder is Mods, and one keeps all the folders and renames the launch option folder to ModsMp Mods2 MyMods, whatever to point at right one!
(And if it was the last one just replying to Cherry's message about how they've been organizing them lately to comment how messy mine are, definitely not a recommendation for long-term, haha)
Rimworld mods usually mention being save safe or not, but I admit to being spoiled by Stardew in that sense when it comes to other games... I have broken quite a few because I insist on plowing ahead :P

I couldn't get the No soil decay to only work on my farm, so after awhile all the soil on the beach and around town was dug up and couldn't spawn worms
Tractor mod would help with that. I tend to plow everything, then put it all back
@loud dirge afaik custom music only keeps the sound files in memory after it has played them once, or if they have the Preload option as true (in content.json). so you can potentially do something about the issue by modifying the sound packs you use
yeah, that's what i was told
custom music comments say if you have it off, there's a freeze while they get loaded
because they are not loaded into memory
and I do like my responsiveness
ah well I'll just put it all on in shuffle in my music player in the background instead

I have a question! I want to use a pretty reshade mod https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/1213. However, I also want to play with a controller (don't come for me). It seems that starting the game with the reshade disables controller support. Is there a way to fix this? Or do these two things just not work together?
I don’t use Natural Shade - Recolor but I think it won’t work since you load the game with a separate program, which may cause controller support to fail. Now I’m not sure if I’m correct, but that seems the most reasonable.

I have a friend who jumped through a lot of hoops to get it to work with natural reshade
and it is a very, very convoluted roundabout method

something about using a wiiu controller wired through a third party app that tricks the computer into thinking its an xbox controller, remap it, and then use a special shortcut to natural reshade
uff, oh ok, that really does seem convoluted and more work than I'm willing to invest. Thanks for the explanation though!
dsaghdsagh yeah, it doesn't natively work with controllers ^^; so anything you do to make it work probably has a lot of steps

I'm trying to find a mod to change Sam's sprite and not both the sprite and portrait, because his portrait has been changed already.
you could just delete the portrait parts of the mod?
