as long as you don't load the game in between the uninstall and reinstall process, you should be ok

Customize Anywhere has a shortcut and items you can build (Robin sells the recipes) o: you can test out those

On multiplayer if you are treating it competitive, then players should all use the same mods

Because, let's say... Better Sprinklers is just, well... making ALL the sprinklers better, so that's kinda... acceptable maybe. But something like that fishing mod (that gets just any fish for you) or the "Auto-water" mod is clearly cheating in the sense that you're entirely eliminating the need for certain game mechanics.
I've seen some people in #multiplayer-lfg-old mention Tractor Mod as an ok QoL mod but they don't want cheats (I assume they mean stuff like CJB?)
And yes, tractor does improve quality of life when playing, but it changes things hugely enough that many will not want to play with it considering how much it affects ease of gameplay
but you can disagree on the game mechanic. I use the "infinite water can" feature of CJB Cheats Menu and that to me is QoL because I find it a waste of my time to have to keep refilling it 
That eliminates that game mechanic, but I have more fun doing it that way lol

It's generally a good idea to have the same mods to eliminate potential issues, anyway, whether through the mod list export or just zipping your Mods folder and sharing privately.
(I mean heck, you can cheat with console commands if you really want to)

This mod https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/5131 gives you a console command which you could use to make a "softer" sort of acceptable mod list based on your installed mods than AntiCheat's blacklist, too - like "if it's not on this list don't use it" , though you could also do the same manually

That's understandable - people really love Stardew Valley and often don't understand the motivation for changing certain parts of it. It's okay to get other people's perspectives as long as it's not being mean or invalidating their preferences.

@restive zodiac How do people actually feel about this? Mods will create custom settings and stuff, so things aren't gonna be default. Is sharing some zip really the best idea?
For me personally, I appreciate games that respect my time, and I enjoy being free to make the changes I want to see in it, sometimes even really silly ones. There are certain things I don't find challenging so much as irritating, and I appreciate those things going away or being tweaked :)

If you zip and share the whole mod folder, most or all config settings will be included in the share
You wouldn't be able to share a zip like that publicly, because you'd be redistributing other people's mods without permission, but it's pretty common between friends and ensures you're all on the exact same setup with same configs etc.
It shouldn't really be a thing, but I see it mentioned a lot.
It's the easiest way to ensure your mods are in sync, and sometimes you're playing with people that are kind of new at it too. In my few multiplayer games, I'm always the one to get everything sorted out and configured, then I just copy it over so we can play together. SO doesn't have any interest in the fiddly bits. ModDrop does modlists, though.
It would be nice if that picked up more for MP games

@royal arrow yeah it's doing it on other saves too. i took a look in the saves file and the file it keeps saying it can't find is one i deleted ages ago but i guess something happened and the folder stayed even though it's empty. i'll get the log now

@supple echo This will happen with pretty much any building recolor that comes later in the alphabet than the IF2R folder, but is easily fixable. https://github.com/FlashShifter/StardewValleyExpanded/wiki/Troubleshooting#double-greenhouses-greenhouse-drawn-in-default-location-in-the-water-if2r has instructions for doing it the "right" way, but you could technically also rename your CP IF2R folder to start with azor something and that would probably work in most cases. For now. No refunds.

I'm trying to choose between Ultimate, Immersive 2, Capitalist 2, and White Water maps. Any recommendations/experiences with any of them?

personally really love immersive 2. i have ultimate but haven't gotten a chance to use it and haven't tried the others. immersive 2 give you a lot of space to work with but still makes layout easy in my opinion

I use Farm Extended and it does have that, so I had to enable it
i use it solo and it takes a bit of getting used to to figure out the whole layout but once you do it's pretty manageable

I just searched mouse's response to this, clarke, and mouse recommended temporarily toggling off Multiple Spouses to check, which you can do by adding . at the beginning of the folder name, then load the game. If you still get the error, then unfortunately you'll have to go to the last resort of toggling off each mod until the error doesn't happen anymore (or the reverse, removing mods, and adding them until the error occurs)
i got it to work
i had switched the config for life cycle to married for some of the couples and whatever reason my game was NOT happy with that

I got one achievement then after that no more, which is weird. It should show on Steam that I have three but it's one still.

@rose python you have an extra " at the very end, you don't need that (it's only supposed to go around the path). also I've seen it as %command% and not %common%, but I don't use Vortex

Extended Minecart, kind of. You need to get that bundle of the CC, but it's a lot easier than the vault bundle.
Since it's the only money-based bundle, you could also just cheat in some cash with CJB to reduce the cost instead of eliminate it completely
Does Life Cycle interfere with any Dialogue Expansion mods?
to be fair, those incompatibilities are pretty minor, the mod loaded last "wins" and that's the dialog line you'll see, so it's not like there will be a crash. the biggest issue would be in "lore conflicts" where a character was written one way in 1 mod but differently in another

CF is generally not used anymore and I can't get any CF to work at all unless I convert a CF pack to PFM, not sure if the automate bridge is broken tho 😦

The mod is Mi's Bathroom Recolors for Bathroom after 2nd House upgrade and yes, I do use More Animals.
I think I read this is an issue with More Animals and that Pet Spawn Locations was supposed to fix it

Usually mods don’t require MFM, but you can get it if you want.
yea it depends on what's listed in the manifest.json
I specifically don't mark my mods as requiring MFM so people can just delete the MFM component if they don't want it, but I know some mods actually give you items over the mail. My mod's letters are all just for flavor / reminders
@lime scarab there's a seasonal garden farmhouse mod that's pretty popular on Nexus
Minervamaga also has a bigger farmhouse mod, but idr if it's on nexus or ModDrop
also CherryChain has a farmhouse mod on Nexus

I was more so asking as one of my friends Who I swear I will get in this server so he can stop asking me for help when I hardly understand the code based mods wants a mod where the farmhouse is larger and there are less restrictions on decorations

Alright. After about 25min I got all my mods where they need to be on my android. I just left out the mods that I knew made use of "mouse-over" - unfortunately that meant ui info suite and lookup anything. Let's see if I broke things before I even started.

I used to put those big wood signs next to my plots to mark the crops. It was a bit clunky though, and easy to change by accident.

Real question - I'm lazy and want a way to color the flower meads mod based on the PFM outputs, but since mead isn't a normal item category I'm guessing I can't just shove 'Mead: <list>' in the JSON and get away with it.

Some mods let you edit key bindings, which are controller/keyboard/mouse buttons which do something in-game. This page explains how to configure them. (This works for any mod using SMAPI's standard APIs.)

Hey everyone I'm new to using mods so if i uninstall SMAPI do all my mod files get deleted? I started using mods but decided I liked the original game better but I want to keep the files just in case i change my mind...
No need to uninstall smapi - you can just rename the Mods folder to .Mods and it will be the vanilla game

@inland fable UI Info Suite is unfortunately mostly broken on Android because all of its draw stuff fails to account for Android scaling. A couple months back I saw someone who was working on an Android-compatible UI tools mod, but I haven't heard any updates on progress for that.
LookupAnything is partly useable. If you edit the Shift + F1 Keybinding to a single virtual keyboard button, it's still very useful for search lookup. And I replaced the F1 Keybinding with VolumeUp/VolumeDown so that I can still stand in front of someone or something (like a crop or machine) and click to get its info.

@dire fractal and if you want to install some mods but disable others, you can go inside the Mods folder and add a period . in front of the name of any mod folder you want to disable.
So if you had FishPreview mod and renamed it to .FishPreview, it would be toggled off until you renamed it back.

Hi - sorry if this is a problem that has already been addressed. I downloaded Anthro Farmer Continued, because I wanted to play as a Gnoll (a hyena). Upon seeing that the setup wasn't completely adapted for more recent versions of SDV, I jury rigged something that pretty much works (modified content to change farmer_base to the corresponding mod image).
However, there's an annoying glitch: a large brown patch constantly covers the torso. It's probably something to do with the shirt layer, although removing the shirt just exposes a gray patch. I checked the image itself, and it looks fine. Any ideas?
There's also a glitch where a white patch appears on the face whenever the character blinks.
Hey could anyone who had been using SVE for awhile answer a question? How much does it affect vanilla NPC dialogue and events?
Adds new events to almost everyone. Doesn't add too much dialogue to vanilla characters, but the new characters have lots of dialogue variety of their own.
Adds a new festival ||that recurrs every month after you've completed the CC||
So would dialogue overhauls for vanilla NPCs be generally incompatible then?
Also changes vanilla NPCs like Marlon and Morris to be friendable, and background characters like the Joja Cashier to actually have names and dialogue
They would generally be compatible.
Canon-Friendly Dialogue Expansion works really well with SVE
You have to watch out for potential compability issues with mods that change some vanilla NPC pathing schedules, or add events in certain areas (like wizard's tower) just because SVE changes some maps
But a lot of mod makers have done compatibility patches since SVE is so popular

By the by, dialogue mods rarely crash in very troublesome ways. Most dialogue mods add new lines rather than changing existing ones. Usually the worst that might happen is that for a specific dialogue entry you might only see something added by one of the mods and never see the version that was added by the other.

Yes BFAV is still the best way, but the framework mod itself is out of date, so you need to make sure you download the unofficial update for it

I was trying to use a mod to make the dirt a little darker (ALYSD - Light Dirt - Grass 1), but it doesn't quite work with the Rolling Hills farm by DaisyNiko. Possibly due to unique tiles.
I downloaded DaisyNiko tilesheets to make Rolling Hills farm work, so I tried uninsthoping the dirt color would change as I thought I saw in the pictures but it only showed vanilla. When I deleted all the tilesheets in assets for the mod except the one I wanted, it plain didn't work.
Anyone know what to do? I honestly can't stand the yellow dirt in game and would love a mod that works with the farm lol
There are several different recolors that Daisy's tilesheets support - Daisy even has one! But if you want to use that one specifically, you'll just need to recolor Daisy's tilesheets to match.
@round path daisyniko's tilesheets are probably set to only load if the recolor mod they were designed for is present
The custom tilesheets are working fine in that screenshot, they just don't match the recolor in use.
If one of the existing recolours for daisyniko might work for you, you could try copying those assets, putting them in the daisyniko vanilla folder, and renaming them to match/replace the daisyniko vanilla tilesheets
I'm not entirely sure which recolors that Daisy's tilesheets support, aside from Starblue

You can look in the assets folder to preview the tilesheet images themselves, and see if any have a similar brown dirt colour
(Some of those have configurable options I'm not sure Daisy's covers, so might just be the default configuration, like Ace has more than one color of dirt)
I downloaded Daisy's earthy recolor, so hopefully things work out
@proven seal "brown splotch torso" is something I'd normally associate with a clothing mod not updated for 1.4, which drastically changed how clothes worked. Could you maybe check out how more modern mods have done edits, or convert farmer base changes to Get Glam packs?

Yes. Eemie isn't active in the community anymore, and Minervamaga is the official maintainer of a lot of her mods. Minerva has recently moved almost all her stuff over to ModDrop - you can find them all there by following the links mentioned in each "mod hidden" note. ModDrop doesn't require an account to download things, either.
aw, that's a shame. Eemie made a bunch of really great mods.

It kinda sucks the originals were hidden on Nexus in favor of one that's no longer on Nexus, though. eemie gave blanket permission for her assets as well as specific permission for Minerva, but you have to get the new ones on ModDrop and the originals are not available AFAIK. (Edited to better reflect intent MD's no login needed - I was thinking of the login required for the client even though I have downloaded things without account before :P)
There's a lot of work involved in the conversion and making it all overlay friendly and configurable, so it's definitely worth picking it up at ModDrop.

CJB cheats menu has fish cheats
such as always catching treasure or always max casting
it doesn't make actually catching the fish any easier, though, unless you auto catch
I wish there was some more prominent middle ground in general, between hiding old mods and people somehow missing both the date and the tags
but on the other hand, that's pretty much just an archive mode kind of thing which I suppose doesn't really serve purpose of "mods you are going to use" (unless you are feeling nostalgic for 1.2, or something)

MTN is a farm map framework that can't co-exist with FHR at the moment.
(I searched back for the last tests I did on the FHR compatibility problems, and it looks like I was crashing after divorcing on a new save with nothing but FHR installed
I should retest later this week to try to compare errors at least...)

My friend says there is a problem with the interface mod that she uses that changes the font of the game, she says the font is fucked up specifically the letters k, l, m, n, o, p, and she says if she disables the font there is not issue with the font and she did check if it is up to date and it is. I have never used a font mod for sdv so I am not sure if the font is fucked up

SVE doesn't require the farm map to work, but the farm map does require SVE to work, if that helps

the amount of files being transferred seems roughly correct, but as it's trying to replace quite a bit of them, it seems possible that some of the files could already have been present. but anyway, i guess delete the installed SVE parts and reinstall?
@shy orbit hmm, I do use automate... it never caused such a problem before but maybe adding more stuff for it to handle finally made it bork.
as for the log, it's... in progress xD
@sharp belfry you can try setting the AutomationInterval to a higher number in the config.json of the mod (it's 1 second per default, that is 60 ticks in the config file)
i started having problems with automate causing constant stuttering at some point
i still get the same stutters, but if they are a minute apart or something it doesn't matter much

SVE has specific install instructions for an existing save, if you're just testing might be better to start a new test save
i would do it on a fresh save for the first playthrough anyway

it (potentially) changes the loading order and that can cause issues with SVE when used together with other custom npc mods. the solution is to put the SVE subfolder so that it comes alphabetically before anything else

Also you then have to remember how you grouped the subfolders. I've seen people have issues because they have multiple copies of a mod in different subfolders, so as long as you keep an eye on that, you should be good

So it can be that you have them for a specific save, but you have to note that
As an example, I've accidentally launched the shortcut for the testing folder, and then tried to load a regular save, not a testing save. That was no bueno
so it's on you as the user to load the "right" save

Does anyone else use Save Anywhere in here? I know the log doesn't seem to have any issues with it, but there are some comments on that page on Nexus that say sleeping after using Save Anywhere sometimes crashes the game.
I've been curious about it but some of my mods say they're incompatible with it, so I haven't touched it

Hello everyone, my comment was deleted in game-support so i'm assuming i should put my situation here instead. I used to play SDV with SMAPI but I uninstalled both from my computer and now I wanted to play SDV without mods but there's no EXE file from steam. I've tried to verify the files through steam but it still doesn't create an EXE like the tutorials say it should. Is there something I can do about this?
Did you reset the steam launch options to not use the smapi executable?

Steam isn't giving me an executable error, but when I look into the files' folder there is no exe file.
I can SC the folder if that helps

@rigid citrus there's something a little wonky going on with your health bars mod. If you click on the update link in your SMAPI log, it takes you to Lookup Anything, which is an entirely different mod, and searching for that mod author leads you to this Nexus page: https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/3627 which says that mod is no longer compatible with the game
Maybe check on that? I haven't used Magic, but I'd trust anything by SpaceChase-he's still an active modder who's around a lot in this discord server 🙂

Hey everyone! Im trying to help my friend get some mods working for a stardew playthrough and I could use some help. We have adopt n skin installed and yet another dog mod but its giving her errors like "Grandpa says you cant use that at this time" and all the dogs appear to be the same to her, but the other two players (me and another friend) see the dogs differently and dont have such errors. Any ideas here folks?

Theirs has a couple probably-unrelated-but-still-going-to-be-trouble PPJA install errors because you have multiple copies of this mod installed. Found in folders: Mods\[JA] Starbrew Valley (1.3.13), Mods\[PPJA] Starbrew Valley\[JA] Starbrew Valley (1.3.13). I kinda lean towards zipping an entire Mods folder and copying it over just to rule out any other discrepancies like that, not that there can't be weird MP issues with things like A&S even with matching mods...

Yeah, might as well if it's as simple as that - just remove the existing Mods folder and replace it with one unzipped from yours. Are those logs both from the same session? Is the other player the host?
Shes the host, but its probably not from the same session. Shes been launching and relaunching her game after replacing the mods folder

Interesting, the farmhand log says that it has registered a bunch of skins from A&S, but then it also says

So I'm surprised the farmhands are seeing the different skins at all.

Maybe its just being disabled for her but ours (the other two players) are still able to load it?
The host log is also from a different play session, 12 hours separated from the other log. So it's hard to rely on comparisons between them.

Has anyone been able to get any storage mods working with Android? I was able to modify "chests anywhere" json enough to work semi-decently however, for some reason I do not have the little "chat bubble" icon that allows me to rename the chests in the inventory menu.

On the logs, she still has duplicates of the PPJA mods installed. Are you sure you removed the old Mods folder before unzipping yours? Because yours doesn't have duplicates.

How does adopt n skin work, I also have it
You put animal spritesheets named a certain way inside the Adopt N Skin's assets/skins folder, and then they get randomized when applied to different animals (so you can have pigs of all different colors for example)
It also lets you adopt more pets from marnie and tame more horses found in the wild
You can pick whatever animal spritesheets you want, even snagging them from the assets folders of other mods, or using XNB files from xnb mods
Okay she can pet it, but shes still getting issues with the grandpa thing
we saw when she got the error that it does indeed relate to the horse whistle

The grandpa thing must be something wrong with the A&S code. It thinks when she's warping that she's indoors for some reason
The reason only she gets the error is probably because A&S is not working for the farmhands

I downloaded QF a few days ago for something else that needed it, and started getting little red errors like this: https://smapi.io/log/8b99566378f6411485dc5962453f9343. Quest ID 773 doesn't seem to exist in the big spreadsheet, this is a log from 6:10 AM before I even got out of bed today, the numbers it throws out for quest IDs don't look like real ones (they're mostly 3 numbers long and I think they've been several different ones??), and it may not necessarily happen every time I play. It doesn't affect gameplay that I am aware of. I just hate red text in my SMAPI log with a passion so.... does anyone know what is going on here?
Note: I am deliberately not updating those three mods that could be updated, I have the latest version but one, they were all updated in the last few days (weeks for meat, but it's beta), and they all work together just fine right now and did so before I downloaded QF.
I'm guessing some of my custom NPCs or MFM things have quests that aren't in the spreadsheet and maybe they're throwing those, but... it'd be nice if someone knew what it was and could point at something to mess with first 😛
It looks like an error in a mod. That's part of a dialogue string, and it looks like they are trying to give you life elixir

I'm not really familiar with QF, so I'm not sure how to know which NPCs have quests for it, but yeah good place to start :)
Yeah, perhaps something in the QF parsing is getting confused by item code brackets in dialogue strings?

It does allow adopting multiple pets and horses, and having different skins for them.

Elle has versions of her skins packaged specifically for More Animals/A&S, you just get the version that goes in the skins folder instead of the CP version.

The pets show up at Marnie's, and the horses just sometimes appear in outdoor maps.

- Tractor mod (plant, hoe, water, chop very efficiently on a tractor)
- Seasonal Villager Outfits (people wear weather-appropriate clothes)
- UI Info Suite, NPC Map Locations and Lookup Anything (useful tools)
- Public Access TV (TV shows for train schedules and mushroom floors, etc)
- Stardew Foliage Redone (very pretty trees)
- Zoom Level Keybinding (wider zoom range)
- Angry Grandpa (spices up the grandpa evaluations and adds configurable bonus rewards and difficulty levels... I'm biased, I made it 😛)

If she only played 1 day, you could roll back a day o:
That's pretty uncommon even for saving with mods, but you can try undoing the last day https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Saves#Undo_the_last_save if she only saved once.
If there's more than one day, you could install SMAPI (or have her launch it with mods again) and grab us the smapi log https://smapi.io/log and we try to see what mod would need to be properly removed before going modless again! If nothing else we could fall back on looking at the save itself and try to manually get it going again. So there is hope 🕯️

So this disappears when I remove Ace's Expanded Houses and Ace's Building Expanded Tilesheet, is there any way someone could help me figure out how to keep both and get rid of this lining? It's the only way I can have my 2 separate cellars and upstairs secret rooms 😦
It looks from the log (and I am not as experienced at reading those, so correct me if I'm wrong, someone!) like the save loaded fine and then you closed the game, so if you could also describe what happens when you try to load it that'd help!

Fair enough! It sounds like SMAPI may have taken care of it for you though, it has a feature where it cleans up old npc data so you can uninstall mods more easily. If you can hang on until mouse or Lenne come back and can confirm that, that'd be best, but I would guess you're probably ok to play on that save again now. Steps I would follow if I was more sure about this: 1. Back up save. 2. Play a day on SMAPI, save. 3. Uninstall SMAPI and check again.

Yea that message means SMAPI removed stuff that would cause issues. So that's good! 
The mod that was causing problems was probably Stardew Valley Expanded, the two NPCs that were removed to avoid a crash are from there. There is probably documentation on how to remove that safely somewhere if what I suggested doesn't work
I hope mouse is able to chime in though, since the fact that it was SVE makes me go
