i have modded the game quite a lot
i took a long break from the game because of this issue
as this wasnt caused by a specific mod as far as i know
i just dont know what to do as i dont wanna lose that save file either
like if i enter other side of map game just doesnt respond for a while in winter but in other seasons i hardly notice it

ah, i have that problem during winter as well. it was content patcher that was taking its time the last i checked it, i guess it's just more stuff getting patched during that season with the mod setup (i've also had the problem of running out of ram during winter, even though stardew valley shouldn't be able to use that much ram apparently)

hm, it seems i have some problem with the stray catfe entrance, it's possible to warp from it (if you keep to one side) to the farm (i have ultimate farm), and one of the stray catfe npcs did just that
okay, it's ultimate farm, it adds warps to the farm from the stray catfe entrance location (it's a little strange, because the warps take you to the same location as the warps on the usual bus stop farm entrance)

Well, it's not likely to work unless you're willing to go grab the unofficial update. Chucklefish accounts are free and fairly simple to make. I threw a big fit when I realized I'd have to make yet another account, but it's made my modding life a lot easier.

@daring wagonGeneral rule is Nov 2019 which is when 1.4 came out. Mods last updated before that may work if they're content patcher but they may also override any of the content added in 1.4.

At what stage would yall recommend someone start playing with SVE? I'm sorta new to the game (have accomplished a lot in a week of nothing but SV though :,,,>) and was wondering if there was a specific event or gameplay year to reach before i should install it
Definitely play through more of the game before getting SVE. It adds a LOT of content and can be overwhelming for someone new. It's hard to say what might be a good goal to reach without potentially spoiling something o.o
Maybe after you've made it to year 3? I played that far before getting mods, although not on purpose lol
And even then, there's lots of late game stuff I still haven't seen, because that year 3 vanilla save is the furthest I got

Yea I was able to complete the cc by year 3 in vanilla, but I only married 1 character lol
So yea, that sounds good, especially if you make it a point to befriend characters along the way. That way, you'll be able to see and enjoy more of the differences in the SVE content 
I always recommend playing until year 3 in vanilla before trying SVE.

Anyone know if there is a mod to take “farm” out of the name when naming your farm or at least make it optional to take off? I wanted to name a farm Jurassic Park but it adds farm at the end and kind ruins the naming scheme

Is there a command for smapi that disables mods so i dont crash the game in multipla2
I don't know if there's a command, but you can manually disable mods by adding a . at the beginning of the mod folder name. Alternatively, you can set up mod groups and have a separate one for multiplayer. Or if you want to play completely vanilla (no mods) for multiplayer, you can launch the game directly without using SMAPI. More info on mod groups below

It looks like one of the JA mods you have doesn't have the right size for a sprite, but I can't tell which one it is

Does anyone else have an issue where the icons for the mini jukebox, mini fridge, and workbench don't show up? It's just a blank slot/space aside from the description and being able to use it.

Yes, but only portrait and character sprite replacements for now. I did try using the portrait content patcher mod, but it was more work than just picking, choosing and replacing in my case.

also, Farmhouses Enhanced is currently hidden in Nexus because the mod author is updating to 1.4. Try removing those and see if that fixes it

Unrelated to your issue, I see you also have this error: Multiple patches want to load TileSheets\bushes (Seasonal Victorian Buildings > Load TileSheets/bushes, Stardew Foliage Redone > Load TileSheets/bushes). None will be applied.
Is there a config option in Seasonal Victorian Buildings, by any chance, to disable the bushes, so Stardew Foliage Redone can load them? I know Stardew Foliage Redone doesn't have that option (I use it)
I'm not sure, I'll have to take a look, or maybe just remove one of them if not.
Alas, I took both out and still can't see those items.

To your question, SOHBlue is using XNB mods, so verifying game files would get rid of them

I had this problem before I used them though. I used to have a number of others, but they hadn't seemed to cause anything. With the fresh install, I only used portrait and character sprite XNBs, but I'll go ahead and change them back.

Has anyone encountered any errors with Automate not grabbing from Bee Hives? I am using PPJA flowers and getting special honey from them.
If you have modded honey, you might need PFMAutomate or something similar to tie them in to work with automate.

It looks like the YouTube video is for a mod that was never finished or released. It's a shame.
The mod author was having trouble getting the events to trigger at the right time; there's no way to do it in the vanilla game or with a content pack currently. It would have to be a C# mod.

@light horizon if it's just a problem of toned down mod overwriting changes from a furniture mod, you might be able to edit the manifest.json of the furniture mod to add a dependency on toned down.
Then the furniture mod will load after and its changes will not be erased

yellog's dark/cream furniture is supposed to give a different base furniture set i think.
If you click the "Trace" button, it shows all the hidden logs for minor things... including every patch that gets applied by any CP mod or through smapi content API
also, is the log from after having loaded the save? o:

so like.. today, really, i learned that yellog's dark/cream furniture would give kitchen furniture & bedroom furniture like The New Look automatically and you don't have to like do an upgrade or apply anything, 'cause it does it with the other base furniture (table, fireplace)
the fireplace just showed up like that & same with the table in bottom left that i have smooshed into the corner
i think i am gonna scrap this entirely and try out mi's and magimatica country furniture, warm cozy fireplace and industrial furniture set.

only parts of ATDSV are showing up (both interior and exterior), is there a reason this could be happening? i've tested it with all mods removed apart from it and content patcher and it's still happening so i don't think it's a mod conflict. there's no smapi errors either

They're identical. The SMAPI download is easier because you don't need to log in to Nexus, but the Nexus one is virus checked and supports Pathos through Nexus' mod author rewards system
so yesterday i tried both but i got everything working and when i booted up stardew, it said i was missing the mamfest and when i download mods it still says that i need to still get smapi but i already got it

getting a weird bug where if i gain a level in 2 skills at once in a single day, once i go to sleep, i only get a post-sleep notification of the skill increase for one of those skills. the next day, i instantly fall asleep on the spot without doing anything, skip the whole day, and get the skill increase notification for the next skill. the game then resumes as normal. here's my mods
i know it's when this happens, because it happened before about an ingame week prior, and the conditions were the same

also, if i had to guess if there was one of the mods that was involved, i'd look at the runninglate mod first. both times this happened i was up until about 5:30am or so which this mod lets you do, and i'm wondering if being able to stay up that late might create some strange issues because the game's not designed for it. in the normal game, anything past 2am isn't supposed to exist, so i think what the game does is that it actually considers anything past 2am a new day(there seem to be several indicators for this)even though the old day hasn't actually ended yet, it's a bit strange

Attention people playing Jasper. As loveable as he is, don't marry him yet! There's a bug which means once he moves in, Jas stops speaking (I believe it's a clash with the code only reading the first three letters of the chars name). There's only two ways I can think to fix it: convince a smapi programmer to write me a harmony patch, or rename him in the code to 'ProfJasper', but that would start him afresh as a new NPC. cries

Vibel, I'd recommend testing the postal lady mod by itself and then going into the forest, and if it happens even with no other mods (also which entrance to the forest?), you can leave a comment on the mod and the mod author might be able to look into it o:

I've temporarily hidden JAsper.
I had a massive lag when entering the Town map for ages, now it's mostly better and I haven't removed anything. My husband did some stuff on my computer that may have helped though.
the first improvement was after removing the abandoned bride mod
i always have terrible loading times during winter for some reason
(I was going to put Jasper up as "not-datable" but realized I'd not yet debugged his final heart event (post 8 heart) so I hid it isntead.

it's in NPC.loadCurrentDialogue() method (a very long method, but there's only the one opcode call to Game1.player.spouse.Contains that would need to be switched.) I guess Game1.player.spouse.Equals should work, pending testing of course lol
And then the other one that isn't affecting anything right now (but could) is in NPC.tryToReceiveActiveObject near the end of that method, in the jealousy checks. It's very very edge case (think if you have a custom NPC spouse named Alexander and you're trying to gift to Alex, the current code might make it so your spouse never gets jealous when intended)

There are a couple others scattered around with actual NPC names as arguments, instead of references to the current NPC.

That's funny though, because if you weirdly had a custom NPC named, i dunno, DisengagedLoner or something, and had them as a spouse, the game would inexplicably change it to "DisLoner" and break a bunch of stuff 😅

The main issue is that for checking if any NPC should load marriage dialogue, it checks Game1.player.spouse.Contains(this.Name)
instead of Game1.player.spouse.Equals(this.Name)
So when it checks to see if your spouse, "Jasper", contains the NPC name "Jas" it thinks that it needs to load marriage dialogue for this NPC
And the default string for marriage dialogue is ""
which doesnt show up... I wish spouses would talk when they were walking around town instead of just standing still at the points around it.
Haha, just think, if it were one of the bachelorettes that was named Jas instead, this bug would have been a whole lot funnier to discover

Most things are in code. It's a pain if your developing tools don't prompt you to fix capitalization to match stuff you've already typed

Honestly, I wouldn't bother changing it at all. It would probably add more confusion for users than it saves. I would just package the upcoming harmony mod up beside your other content packs for him and call it a day haha
It's unfortunate to have to complicate a content pack mod by adding a bugfix dll, but when the alternative is either asking all existing users to start over from scratch or introducing even more complexity with multiple versions of the mod, I think it's the better option.
(Imagine for example: would you release the renamed version under a different UniqueID and have people run into problems where they have both installed by mistake? Or the same UniqueID with the potential for people to update to the wrong one and accidentally wipe all friendship progress from their save?)
Anyway! I'll wait on kdau for now, just in case he's making headway already and I don't know it 😅 But I'm happy to help out with this patch if needed!

Yeah, Harmony can be scary because if mod creators implement their patches poorly, or without a very thorough understanding of the bigger picture in the code, they can lead to unexpected problems and bugs, potentially major ones at times

For extra security, you could add a HasMod condition to any of his dateable stuff?

Re. harmony though - if you know exactly what you want to change, know the full scope of what that change affects, and know how to execute the changes in a way that's very precise and specific, there is minimal risk.

I did a recolor (and very small edit) of a mod to "integrate" some elements that were missing from another mod. I'm not sure where else to share (since I thought someone might find this useful as well) but I didn't want to upload the file at Nexus as a mod because it's not really my work. All I did was edit and recolor a bit some elements that were missing?
I could try to contact the original author but it seems like they haven't been active at Nexus since March? (I think) And thought it would be much faster over here in any case.

(Just to clarify earlier recommendations, while 7zip is a good alternative, one of the reasons .zip format is recommended over things like .rar is that no additional software should be required to open them on Windows/Mac/Linux. Just double clicking them should open them natively.)
so i am having a really massive error after installing smapi and mods (stardew extended as per the github instructions) but when it runs it has like thousands upon thousands of red errors scrolling across the screen. has anyone has this happen?

Its fine! Its pretty much both that, doesnt appear so cant select it. I see the log acknowledges things involving the desert, but thats it and I recently updated the garden village mod too

i think it's that you don't have the buslocations content pack that comes with the buslocations mod

By default it comes with a content pack that re-adds the Desert as a destination (removing the "[BL] Desert" makes the desert inaccessible, so I would recommend not removing it)
if you got the mod from another location (could be unofficial update for example) it might not have packaged that content pack with it
@molten charm you seem to be missing the Content Patcher part of SVE at least
I got it from nexus, but now Im looking at the garden village and noticed this time it has a file called changes to other mods so that could be why, but instructions leave me confused where to put the stuff

you can just put the "[BL] Desert" folder to your Mods folder as with other mods

Really hard to say what could have caused it.
How did you enter the wizard's tower @thin hollow? Was it through the door, using the witch hut warp, or something like a debug command warp?

Assuming you can get the error to happen again the same way, you might need to try process of elimination by disabling some of your mods at a time (rename their folders to start with . to disable) in order to find out which mod is responsible.

I had another one earlier, when I walked in the Carpenter's shop, that one didn't get stuck in loading.. it actually ported me off the map and got stuck unable to move.. haha

If you're looking for an alternative, I think there's an unofficial update out there for the Pelican Fiber mod.
ok, just disabled it, and running again.. thanks for the help.. I was looking at Pelican Fiber originally but noticed it wasn't compatible.. wasn't sure if it would still work with the latest versions of SDV and SMAPI
Or something like Summer Hours on ModDrop that makes shops open longer (although you still have to visit them) and/or Self Service on Nexusmods (allows you to purchase even if no one is at the counter)
You can always check https://smapi.io/mods to see if something is compatible with the latest smapi/sdv, plus if it isn't compatible there might be a link on that list to a fixed, unofficial update

@mental fjord There's probably not going to be a large expansion like SVE that works, but maybe you could try downloading some small content packs to add a few new crops or a new npc or something like that? Disclaimer: I don't play on android and I'm not sure it would work, but I'd be sad if you gave up looking at mods just cause the first one doesn't fit your system!

From now on, you should just be able to launch your game through Steam like normal and it will launch SMAPI along with it. Now you can download other mods.
If you have any problems, SMAPI keeps a log and we can walk you through how to post that in here for troubleshooting purposes
note that if you decide to go back to vanilla and uninstall SMAPI you will need to change your launch settings back! but hopefully you won't need to worry about that 🙂

Sure, if you hit ok you can close the properties window, it should have saved your changes. When you start from Steam now you should see a little command window running, that's SMAPI. It loads any other mods you have. Did you download another mod?

Ok, for that one you will need another mod. Check the requirements on the front page, it will take you to a link for Content Patcher-you'll need to download that
you only need to download and set up smapi once 🙂
after that, more mods are installed just by unzipping the folder and putting the stuff inside it into Mods/ folder
How do i check requirements?
They are typically listed, e.g. on Nexus there's a section near the top of the description page
Some mods on nexus even show a pop up with requirement reminders when you go to download them
And if you run the game while missing a requirement for a mod, smapi will give a message about it and tell you what's missing
