hi! can anyone help me find the save files sampi back ups ? tysm in advance !💚
The backups are in your Stardew Valley folder, then save-backup folder. The actual saves are somewhere else

My SMAPI backups were not in the Mods folder, but in the Stardew Valley folder > save-backup

Ok so say you're trying to replace the save for Farmer_12345. You'd extract the folder you got from your SMAPI save backups to the location of your actual save for Farmer_12345 and let it overwrite

Ok well from the looks of it, somehow your whole Saves folder got wiped out. Yea you could do that, the game should then create a Saves folder, and then you can put in your backups

It might have happened because some mod is loading map assets when a save is loaded, and failing to load them after new days when conditions (like jojamart complete) change

Or fix a map. That's Karmyllas map edit btw. I suspect its due to the "when" conditions that it dodnt load properly at first. Also even when town map is set to false it patches in and moves the theater billboard.

i think there's a few old mods that still run with CFR but CFR is no longer supported

Hi, so unfortunetly something happend to my Stardew valley game. I was updating some files and now I can not load my game. Since I am not the moc with mods, all I can understand from the error is that files are missing. I ve tried to reinstal files again, but the same error every time a try to load a game. Can I please ask you for help? I raelly know what to do and starting again is not an option :D. Thank you. Will attached the files to this message.
We generally prefer uploads of parsed logs but those screenshots are, unusually, enough!

Why do some of the PPJA mods not require either CFR or PFM?

The squirrels seem to have a BFAV component, which explains why they're loading correctly. Can you link the dragon and gecko mods you're looking to use?

The dragons and gecko mods use the old version of BFAV rather than the unofficial update, so that's probably why it's not working. The unofficial update changed stuff substantially.
I don't know if there's an easy way to convert them, let me check

There used to be the Cobalt mod that added a new tier of bars and tools. But it didn't actually make a new ore, Cobalt bars were crafted from iridium and prismatic shards.
But that mod's outdated now, replaced by Prismatic Tools mod

@fading vapor is the problem with no stack numbers and no quality stars everywhere? Like in inventory, in chests, in autograbbers, in the fridge...?
Also is it just iridium quality stars that don't show up, or are you missing silver and gold quality stars too?
I've created a mod that changes quality star drawing so I know a bit about how this works. I suspect it could be a harmony issue in either FarmTypeManager or SpaceCore, or it could be a content patching issue with anything that patches LooseSprites\Cursors.
so the stack numbers dont showw up anywhere at all

If you still get silver and gold stars, i'm 95% sure it's a spritesheet issue.

Should be. Something is replacing your Cursors spritesheet with an old version. (Or you don't have the newest version to begin with). Both are fixable.
I'll bet there are other icons that are missing, too, and you haven't noticed.

Yes it could be an XNB mod. Or it could be a CP or other sprite-sheet replacing mod that replaces more than it ought to and is using an old version of the spritesheet
CP mods can do anything XNB mods can, including replace assets entirely with old versions just to edit a tiny part of it, but XNB mods are all mostly old by now.

okay so ive verified the integrity of my game, but what does that actually do
so this is not my first time modding stardew, i played a year or so ago for a while, and i recently got a new laptop so im starting with a clean slate.
i cannot get any content packs for json assets to show up. like, at all. primarily using ppja packs, but others as well(such as spooky crops). all dependencies installed, in the correct places, triple checked. smapi, game, and all mods at latest version. other mods work just fine. game is not crashing, there is no smapi log, and from what i can see, no error messages at all. the stuff installed, just does not show up. i'm using item spawner to check for the pack items(for example, searching for basil, from fruits and veggies for json assets, returns nothing in item spawner). the only issue ive ever had with json before was the scrambled icons thats long since been fixed, i did nothing different on this install round. again, i triple checked to make sure all dependencies were installed and in the right place
i assume it reverts it all to before i started messing with the folders?
i know its likely going to be something simple im missing, but i just genuinely do not know
@fading vapor Yes, your SMAPI Mods folder will be untouched but all your game files will be back to vanilla.

@echo spear if you don't have any smapi log at all, I wonder if you are running the game with smapi? Try finding the StardewModdingAPI.exe in the game folder and clicking that to run it directly.

im aware theres a couple out of date non json asset mods, but all ja packs seemed to have installed correctly
i wasnt aware there was a normal log always, i meant intially there was no crash log
its there, the items are just not showing up
No worries, there usually isn't a crash log. Smapi is pretty good at preventing crashes.
If you use CJB item spawner, can you find any of the added items by searching?

Stardew Valley is the one game I don't use a mod manager lol but yea idk if it is moddrop, I've seen people having weird issues with Vortex (a different mod manager)

The log you posted looks pretty short. If you haven't already, could you run the game, load a save, and try looking up stuff in CJB Item Spawner then close and post that log?
So I know for Vortex, you have to launch the game from Vortex. Have you seen anywhere if there's a requirement like that for ModDrop?

(there was someone in here that using Vortex and for them, what fixed their issue of some mods not loading was launching through Vortex)

If you go into your mods folder and search for something like Basil you should see the Amethyst Basil and normal Basil twice each (object and crop folder). If you see them more than that it means you have it installed twice which is why it isn't loading.

There should be one in each since crop defines the crop and object defines the product

Okay. This one BFAV mod worked before but now the animal only shows a small portion of the sprite. xD Which is why I was wondering if they changed
Hmm. Was it using the correct type of spritesheet for the animal? Coop animal spritesheets are different from barn animal spritesheets which are different from pets or horses.
So you can't just, say, take an animal mod designed for coop and plop it into barns.
Idk if this will make a difference, but are you using the unofficial BFAV update, and if so, is the mod in question written for the unofficial BFAV update?

I started using SoloLearn for C# on Jonqora's suggestion. I use it as an app on my phone, but it's also got a website. You read through stuff, and it has a built-in code "playground" so you can test out stuff without needing to install software. It's also got quizzes
It's lessons on the basic syntax and structure of different coding languages. I liked it cause it's on my phone and portable

God they really do and they assume I know terminology
I dont even know cp terminology that well and I've made 3 npc mods xD
My second mod was a tiny one but I found out it needed harmony (which everyone warns LOTS about using) and it needed something called a transpiler (which everyone warns about even more!) but I got a lot of help in #making-mods-general and managed to do it.
Idk where to start maybe I'll let someone else tackle this and finish the mods I already have xD
yea I've stayed away from SMAPI mods for that reason xD sticking to playing with the frameworks, but I'm trying to get motivated to learn C# basics so I could potentially tackle more complex mod ideas (and of course, add something to my resume, mwuahaha)

I just like the simplicity of some of the frameworks, although I know the new CP version is gonna remove some of that simplicity

All CP format changes are backwards compatible with old formats, so if you don't change your format your mod would/should/will (still being tested) be unaffected. It's just a change in how you would approach some tokens from now on.

You can still use format 1.0.
yea the way I (a noob) understood it, if you don't set the format/version to 1.15 in your content.json, you're fine, it'll work. If you do set your format/version to 1.15, then you need to do the migration thing

Hey everyone we are having an issue with our co-op server after we downloaded an outdated multiplayer game time mod last night. Every time we would try to join the server it would give us an error about gametime so we all decided to remove the mod. After this we kept getting the issue, so we thought that the mod somehow messed up our save so we decided to reinstall smapi and then start out on a clean save and try to get back to where we were. This morning we are still getting the same game time error when trying to join the server and we are unable to actually join the co-op game. We have also all tried to disable our anti-viruses but that still hasnt worked. Is there anyone who has gotten the same issue at all? or is there anyone who is better at parsing the smapi error logs who could possibly help us? We might try to reinstall our games with fresh installs of the mods we all use but that would be a lot of work at this point.

update on our co-op game we all refresh our game files (one 1 person had xnb files so she was the only person who had anything refreshed). we then went through and made sure we all had exactly the same mods and double checked if the game changing mods worked with multiplayer. we also reinstalled smapi 1 more time after totally uninstalling smapi. We uninstalled expandedfridge and then made sure everyone had lunardisturbances dynamic nighttime and adopt 'n skin. We are able to join the server currently so we are hopeful but we have had on and off luck with joining the server so we are holding our breath for now but just posting this just incase someone else is having the same issue!

You're in luck, there's a new mod called Mod Updater available on Nexus! Check that out 
(That mod is opt-in - mod authors have to set their mod up to use it. On the bright side, all of Routine's mods should be opted in!)

Hey y'all, I'm having a weird issue. Long story, but I had to switch from running off an external hard drive to running off my laptop, and I started getting an error right afterwards. If you have ever stored any modded clothing items inside your dresser, it could be a mod issue.
Do you use any Json Assets mods (or have you in the past?)
vwynhausen has a couple of clothing mods, but Jonqora, for that to be the case, they would have had to remove them, but not removed the items for the dresser, right?
I do. I think one of my clothing mods got deleted, actually. I didn't even think of that. I'm going to try reinstalling it.

Also, this Can't apply image patch "Immersive Farm 2 Remastered > EditImage Buildings/Houses" to Buildings\Houses: target area (X:160, Y:0, Width:112, Height:432) extends past the right edge of the image (Width:160), which isn't allowed. Patches can only extend the tilesheet downwards.
I think this could be a conflict between IFR2 and Enhanced Farmhouse o: (assuming Enhanced Farmhouse isn't part of IFR2)
If not, worst comes to worst you can do a manual save edit and delete individual clothing items (or even the whole dresser if necessary)

As far as Enhanced Farmhouse, it's not a part of IFR2. I've been meaning to ask for help with that, as well. I think it's causing a weird glitch on my map. Just cosmetic, as far as I can tell

I saw someone using Rose Colored Glasses map recolor, and there's issues with it not loading rice shoots and tea bushes, but the mod was last updated before 1.4. I forget not everyone knows to be more cautious about mods from before November 2019 o:

Resetting my game files didn't work. But I deleted FHR and that didn't work either.
That's so weird, I've never had issues with compatibility between SVE and FHR!
SVE has changed a lot in every update though o:

Right at the top where it says

Change that to `"Action": "EditImage",`

I know the github page for SVE lists things that, if a mod changes, then that mod's incompatible with SVE, but not everyone remembers to go back to mod documentation when they're installing a new one. It's a habit that takes time to get into

usually it also pops up a notice that you've entered screenshot mode but presumably if you press it at exactly the wrong time in save loading it doesnt

aw that's nice, it looks a little like an IF2 remix. I like when people do things on additional maps too, so I can yoink those and attach them to other things if I want :P I'm using a lightly edited version of their tiny garden farm on an MP playthrough (or, well, we did for a few days at least. this is probably a dumb question but how do mods effect steam achievements? I've used mods and i could have sworn that they still work but my friend (who uses the same mods as me) insists that she did everything right for polyculture but she didnt get it. Is it because we have modded in crops or is she just mistaken and she fucked up somewhere

I've had the game fail to give me one or two even without mods. wasn't til second playthrough that I got one of the lower level friendship achievements. I chalked it up to a steam desync but I really don't know

@fair vessel I ended up fixing the problem! I had changed my house in the assets folder of the Witchy Gothic Exterior mod, so I just switched everything over the original mod the house came with. Thanks for all your help! I really appreciate it 🙂

Re. mysterious screenshot mode bug
So I doubt that it is smapi - what pressing F4 does in the code is switch Game1.displayHUD between true and false... and also shows a display message. But none of you saw the display message, meaning that some other mod must have switched Game1.displayHUD off at an unexpected time, or switched it off and then forgot to switch it on again.
Can each of you please share your logs so we can try to narrow it down to mods you all have in common? 🕵️

@vernal acorn using xnb mods is not recommended to begin with - and using them on android is an incredibly complex process, you would have to open up the app's APK file to replace xnbs inside of it and put it back together into a signed APK.
Oh, that's unfortunate.
Recommend instead to get SMAPI for android, and if you want to use xnb mods, convert them into Content Patcher packs yourself.

That would be a tricky game code thing, likely requires a smapi mod to do

There's always the deluxe scarecrows you can get later in the game, they increase the radius from 8 to 16 so it's huge

No, not the rarecrows - you have to collect each rarecrow first, then you get a letter in the mail with crafting recipe for deluxe scarecrow.

Out of all the mods that all 3 of you have, only 3 of them were updated within the past month: FTM a couple weeks ago, and both TMXL and SMAPI very recently.

You could try using VirtualKeyboard to add an F4 button and try pressing that

i googled it and only found a 10-month-old reddit comment with someone using vanilla android stardew (or possibly iOS stardew) managed to accidentally turn screenshot mode on with the message and clicking around the screen at random eventually fixed it
so there's a report of it existing in vanilla and its button is...somewhere

based on bunny's log, the major difference between her mods and mine for tmxl packs is that i don't play sve. but otherwise same tmxl packs for seasonal garden farmhouse 2, mermaid island and mr. ginger

A lot of things about the main farmhouse are hard-coded into the Vanilla game, so it's hard to move
The framework mod that allows other mods to move it is called MTN
If you search MTN on Nexus, you can look under "requirements" to find other mods that require the MTN mod - check out those and you might find what you're looking for

can you try renaming your Mods folder and see if the problem goes away? That's how I figured it was caused by mods

Since I'm on a roll with the Shop Tile Framework (STF) mods, I'm wondering if it would be nice to have the shop owners have sales once a month, in which the prices are lower for 1 day (I'm reminded of the random sales that happen in Sims 3). Could be that only some of the shop owners have sales in one month, and the next month, the sales are from a different set of shop owners. Also debating if it should also have friendship requirements

I have never played very much except a multiplayer game last year that ran awhile. I originally got it to play with SO, but by the time multiplayer was actually available it had sort of moved on. SO has expressed interest a couple times in a modded playthrough, but I usually end up spending forever making some perfect mod to surprise with that we end up not actually playing anyway cough

yea that's the modding life I: back when I played the game my SO noted I spent a significant amount of time tweaking my mods to work together (because I kept adding to my list), and spent much less time actually playing the game >_> (same with Skyrim)
Anyone recommend a new farm map?
I'm not sure about Android compatibility, or SVE compatibility, but I'm a fan of Strawberry Fields Farm, Ali's Flower Map, and Capitalist Dream Farm (which is huge). DaisyNiko has a ton of different maps as well (author of Strawberry Fields Farm and Capitalist Dream Farm)

All this does is actively enable the hud after loading a game. So I don't actually know what the issue was, but since the hud should always be there at the start, it shouldn't hurt to do this.
Still wondering what is causing that bug though.
I tried removing various entries from content.json in the SVE TMX pack, and narrowed it down to the addMaps set, but it seemed to be triggered by more than one, and I couldn't pinpoint it to one map or another

There's a few places in the game code that set Game1.displayHUD to false. If a mod is somehow invoking one of these, and fails to trigger the matching way to set it back to true afterwards, that could do it

@left hollow would you possibly be able to run in debug mode, set a breakpoint for anywhere (on a keypress or whatevs) and, while the HUD is missing, check what the current values are for Game1.GameTime and Game1.farmEvent?

So while working in Visual Studio with any mod, click in the bar left of a line of code to set a breakpoint. (This means if you run the code and it reaches that point, everything will pause and you can inspect the inner workings)
It doesn't matter much where the breakpoint is as long as it's somewhere where the game would usually be displaying HUD
Like so, here's an example i put in a ButtonPressed event

i have a pretty low end mac (1.8ghz, 8g ram) i wanna install SVE, curious about performance
It should be fine, you might have to configure a setting in FTM to put limits on the number of monsters spawning at once.
Try it first to see, and if there's lag go into the Farm Type Manager config.json file and change MonsterSpawnLimitPerLocation from null to 200 or so.
If you've still got problems, try 100, then 50. (If you go all the way down to 10 and still lag, then it's probably not the source of the problem and you might be out of luck for running SVE)

Then launch and when it hits breakpoint, find game => Static members => displayHUD and right-click it to set a watch

@dire fractal hi there, the mod you're trying to install is an XNB mod, which is outdated and no longer recommended (they are harder to uninstall, and are less likely to be compatible with other mods).
There is a Content Patcher (CP) conversion for it, available here:

From the looks of it, you shouldn't need Portraiture to make it work.

@tender ingot It's required because SVE adds grass spawns in other maps, and they will die out without the Winter Grass mod
Don't worry, grass doesn't grow in winter - so it's not super unbalanced.

Even with the winter grass mod. It disables growth in winter, so the grass survives and doesn't die, but it doesn't grow or spread either

Yes, but the host log did not contain any errors. And I have removed two mods recently but they were not custom furniture mods, just trying to figure out what that error could be referring to. I can try readding the mods back in and see if that fixes it

SVE is bugging a bit, joja mart looks like basegame again, with two morris's (one in SVE positions and one in basegame position) and theres 2 adventurers guilds, with 2 marlon's (same as morris)

Right, it's not perfect, so if you can live without grass outside the farm, you can go for it. Grass will still spawn inside the farm
You can still plant your own grass outside the farm, too. It just won't be all grassy off the bat like the author intended it to look.

@visual ridge the way MTN works is to create a new farm rather than replace an existing one, so I'm not sure if there's a way to have a farm map added by MTN instead replace a map. Hopefully someone else in the chat will be able to help (Jonqora is on the case!)
@visual ridge important note for the farm map you're looking at - it just adds more space, it doesn't actually add the ability to have more than 4 players. You'll need a separate mod for that (Unlimited Players mod) and by the way it can work with any map.

(You may or may not also want to reset debris, depending on how far along you were and such.)

Reset Terrain Features (https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/4715) is a mod that allows you to reset, clear, or generate everything that spawns on a map via an in-game menu. This is especially useful when changing maps mid-save, as the debris will still use the old layout (causing things like trees in the water or bushes blocking exits) until reset.

Yeah, the whichfarm number will be changed from whatever it is now (if it's a vanilla farm type it will be 0-5) to 200, and that whole thing goes right after <CustomData>

That should handle changing your farm to the new one, yeah. Depending on what your old layout was and how far along you were, you may end up needing to move buildings or crops or machines and stuff.

Hello, I just have a question - is there a way to limit the custom furnitures on Robin's shop? I have too much of them and when I browsed Robin, it made my game really laggy. I get messages in SMAPI that it's out of memory something... and it's really nasty to browse Robin's never furniture list.

@neon palm I think for that you'd need a mod that modifies Robin's stock, either by moving stuff from her stock to another NPC shop owner (like Garden Village, but it doesn't include furniture shops), or maybe limiting her stock altogether. Hmm... I know Tailor Mouse's stock is limited through Shop Tile Framework (STF), but he's also a custom shop...
From the STF readme, I don't think STF can be used to reduce Robin's stock directly, but it would be possible to create a Tailor Mouse equivalent for Custom Furniture o:

You can also delete it from wherever it automatically downloaded to and download again, or save it to a different location, and it won't have that (2) at the end
