So, i'm new to stardew on PC and i tried downloading a few mods but some of them did work and some of them didn't how do i fix it? (UI Info suite and npc map locations worked but SVE didn't and i cant tell which others have/haven't)
Ok weird. Looking at it, all looks good. It's valid Json too. Unless it has something to do with the first row of buttons overlapping the second row? Maybe their transparencies are affecting each other?
So I should remove the second row as a test?
What happens if you delete a button from the first row, or if you move the Y positions of the second row buttons so they don't overlap?

How do you manage to miss all of the framweork mods..

If you install those then all of your mods will work except zoom mod

Okay I just checked mine past the loading screen and it's the same thing... always gets more transparent in the game itself.
I had never tried to remove all transparency before
It's almost like some other part of the UI is layering over it and adding transparency... or as if the transparency is being applied twice

Smapi is guessing. There's a problem with the file structure. It doesn't mean tractor mod is somehow an xnb mod.

Hmmm. That is strange. Everything in the Mods folder looks set up properly. So yes, I would try deleting the TractorMod, UIInfoSuite and NPCMapLocations folders and re-installing those 3

Question. Does SMAPI run heavier/slower than the normal client?
By itself? Not noticably. With mods? Depends how many and which ones you are running lol
I've just noticed a couple of times the game froze, but I'm using the UI interface mod and that's it
If you're like me and have 100+ mods that are all running precondition checks and extra code to patch the world when exiting the farmhouse... I sometimes have to wait upwards of 10 seconds with a blank screen for everything to run. It's worst on the first morning after loading up a save, and on the first day of new seasons.
YMMV depending on your computer too of course

Hey guys i had a question about modding if any one knows the answer. I have a bunch of dialogue mods and was wondering if i put my favourite ones in last if that will makes them overwrite anything beforehand that might have the same line days?
I'm kinda new to PCs
@lone scaffold dialogue mods can patch things in two ways: "Load" or "Edit". (You can see which one it's using in the content.json file).
If they are all using "Edit", then yes it should work. Just make sure the folders for your favorite ones are named last in alphabetical order.

Yeah, the docs were split up recently to try to make them less overwhelming too, so the tokens are all on a separate page even from the author guide.

Not quite, you could either say "FromFile": "mysprite_beach.png" with a "When": {"LocationName": "Beach"} or forgo that condition and use a token in the file name json "FromFile": "myfile_{{LocationName}}.png, "When": {"HasFile:{{FromFile}}": true} sorry, typing manually on phone so probably not usable as is, but just example.
And yes, the player location is how you do it. You only see NPCs at your location, not anywhere else.
but the command is "FromFile": "targetpath_{{LocationName}} or "When": {"HasFile:{{FromFile}}": True}

I'm not sure what you mean, sorry. The FromFile name can be whatever you like, it just has to match what you actually name it.

So I just meant you could say "use this file WHEN locationName is Beach" or if you might have several location based changes, you could make a generic patch that would match any location name using _{{LocationName}} which would look for _beach, but also _Saloon, _Farm, and so on
I'll play around with it and hopefully figure it out. I just wanted to make sure there was a location token, since there wasn't one the last time I looked.
For every area that you enter, and since you probably don't want to make all those, the HasFile was to check if you made one 😅

@cursive granite Sorry for disappearing, I managed to get to a computer to search high and low for an updated version of characters override I had. I finally found something that looked at least later than original, but was not the last I saw it so I'm not positive of the state it's in. The misc files are not updated for 1.4 - I had started on that but the theater edits aren't there, which is irritating. (I know, I know, version control and upload...)
I am not able to start game at the moment to test, but I tried to eyeball it at least and clean up some obvious errors. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/340622032456777731/718301080269750272/characteroverrides.zip This is a bit overkill as an example because it looks for every single character/portrait in the files and applies the provided override file if they exist, under various conditions. So you can replace Harvey all the time, per season, per season when outside, when it's rainy in spring while outside, or for a specific festival, just by dropping the appropriately named PNG in the right folder. (There's also Harvey_summer_swimsuit, which is only for summer at the beach, which most people won't visit anyway.)

When you update your mods, make sure you're remembering to unzip the downloaded folders and use them to replace (or overwrite) the old ones in the Mods folder

You're right @vale jungle, I don't see anything there that should affect scheduling. My only guess is Save Anywhere, which is known to be buggy and might cause those sorts of issues.

Aha! It might be your Extended Reach mod
I think it's letting you reach across the counter - then once no more dialogue actions available, it defaults back to normal reach
that sounds completely true, ill go ahead and get rid of that mod then
So try clicking further in front, on the front of the counter and not the NPC. If that doesn't work then you might want to bring it up to Extended Reach dev. It's probably not intended.
ill try playing without it real quick just to confirm that its that, and then try those two others next
Yeah. Because of height offset, when you click on the top of the counter, the game might be registering it as clicking on the NPC's feet lol
Will Get Glam conflict with other hair mods?
@blissful rapids... probably, yes. Hair isn't an item so there's no way of adding new ones independently, it's always done by patching the same game assets

@blissful rapids oh apparently I am wrong. You can use hairstyle get glam content packs added to get glam. And if you use SpaceCore with get glam you can have unlimited hairstyles

That's just it - with xnb mods, there is no possible way to use two at once that replace the same game file
You would have to unpack them yourself, convert for content patcher and make your own mod

for dynamic clothing, seasonal villager outfits
for dialogue, canon friendly dialogue expansion
for gameplay balance, maybe hardew valley? i don't mess with balance tweaks much. iirc stradew valley expanded has some balance tweaks you can turn on in the configs, but i dont mess with sve much either
for taxes, there is no mod that does the same things as longevity which is a shame since it's imo the most interesting part of the mod

@austere widget since you're using smapi, you also have Save Backup. You could revert to an old save from Winter 9 or earlier and it should allow the Elliott event to trigger.

And @austere widget, the save-backups only saves once per IRL day, so you might lose some additional progress

First you find a folder in save-backups that is old enough. Then you unzip it.
Next you find the location of your current save folder (https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Saves). You should find your current save folder there, move or make a copy of it somewhere safe just in case. And then replace it with the folder you got from save-backups

That's really weird. You replaced the whole folder (not just the file inside of it) and you moved the old folder away somewhere (not just renamed it?)
And when you chose an old folder you picked one from a previous IRL date?
yeah i moved my entire save file into a seperate folder and then chose a save backup from the 3rd of june and put it in my save folder
and when i launched the game it says 1st of spring year 3
is there any way i can check if the game thinks i have seen the event or not ?
because if it still thinks i havent seen it then it could just be buggy . ive heard a few people say its kind of hit and miss when it triggers
Only by reading through the raw save file, but I'm not sure what to look for.
Can you show a screenshot of your save folder?
You might need to load the save (with the spring Y3 date) and see if it still says that date in the actual game instead of the loading screen

there's a few. One I used was a mod that made all artifacts appear in omni-geodes

theres some that increase artifact spot spawn rate, and some where you can change the chance for an aftifact when getting one
How to load same mod twice in the Game. I am using Tractor Mod. Which has Large Range to cut trees and break stones etc., but when it comes tilling the ground game breaks. Can I have another copy of the same mod with reduced Range so I can till the ground. I have copied the Tractor mod in mods folder and renamed it to TractorMod2 but smapi says "TractorMod.dll" already loaded. How to bypass or fix this so I can use multiple versions of the same mod

I did all of the steps, including posting the info in the steam preferences. Game will start up, but it just runs vanilla.

Try running the game directly from the smapi exe. Look in the Stardew Valley game folder for the one called StardewModdingAPI.exe and run that.

A possibly unrelated error, but there's also an issue with your greenhouse mod. If you want to use a custom greenhouse with SVE/IF2R you have to install the greenhouse differently. I remember there being a part of the FarmHouse mod where you can relocate the outside, etc. It has a patchfile which was the Open Beta, before the outdoors update hit, I'll check if by installing that one instead it'll fix it, maybe?

I think it was the splitscreen mod I'm working on. I'm using one of the unvalidated events and patches and stuff. 😛 I just loaded it once at the beginning of the method instead of multiple Game1.content.Load<...>(...)s (it was a copy paste of a game method) and it seems to work fine now

It should be available in FTM v2.0, which will change the format & make features easier to add.

@verbal hare there are lots of ways to change the in-game date. You'll have to install smapi (the mod loader). There are debug commands you can use in the chat window with smapi to change the date
There are also other mod options with more sophisticated controls. BJS Time Skipper is one

This was finally completely noticeable when the guy from JoJo went into his building even though time was frozen and he should have stayed in place at that point I realized that 10 moved to 10:10

In terms of stability at or only affect your game or computer when multiple mods or a few mods are conflicting between themselves
Downloading in and of itself should do nothing to your computer in terms of anything you can calculate degrading quality
The more mods you have installed the more likely their chances of them conflicting
If you have a ton of mods (i'm well over 100 now) you might notice delays in the game occasionally when the mods have to run through a lot of new or altered code to update things.
When I leave my house the first day after loading a save, I get like 15 seconds of black screen

Most of these mods are so small in data scale that it doesn't mean anything in terms of storage
There are some mods that you have to take precautions when uninstalling.
For example if a mod adds new items or crops to the game, you have to carefully delete/sell/destroy all the modded items before you uninstall the mod. Or else bugs.
Yeah start small is a good idea!
Stick to mods that have been updated recently (within the past year or so generally) and have a good number of downloads and positive comments. Make sure you read mod descriptions for possible incompatibilities. You should be fine.

There were "significant bugs" but I don't know what those are. It was never released, so you're on your own if you encounter bugs (unless you want to take on the task of updating it yourself)

You should first start by redownloading the mod. You most likely deleted something you shouldn't have or the files didn't copy over properly.
I think the files in that mod might need to be installed by overwriting assets in the (Stardew Valley Expanded) folder

I've had an odd issue with the JojaMart. On 2 different occasions now, Shane and Pam (the first time it was Shane and Sam) will go into the mart, and then disappear o.o the map says they're inside the mart, but once they go in, they're invisible. Both times this happened, they did not leave the mart (I waited around until 12am, and they didn't leave the mart). This is not their normal schedule. My SMAPI log didn't show any errors. I tested reloading the old save, and for both instances, on reload, the characters showed up in the mart.
I know I have a ton of mods. Does anyone know what could be causing this issue in the jojamart?

@verbal hare Mod authors update mods for a reason. Even though it still works you should always update to the latest version. It may be why the portraits aren't working in that mod - if those are the portraits you're referring to.

It works fine except that farmhands can't see custom NPCs
Make sure that everyone has it updated and using the same version (SVE version vs. regular)
And make sure if anyone is also using UI Info Suite, you disable "show villager locations" in that mod
So sve helps in longetivity of the game ?
SVE is ideal for players who have exhausted the base game and a lot of other mods that add content.

Not compatible out of the box, but I created a patch. You need to download the file ImmersiveFarm2WoodsForDeepWoods.zip and replace the Woods.tbin included in the Immersive Farm 2 mod folder. A readme with instructions is included in the file.

however I couldn't find the Woods.tbin to be replaced
Those instructions are for a different version of immersive farm. The IF2R that comes with SVE is different and it needs no special installation

There was a Chest Dimension mod but it's broken and no longer maintained. I thought I saw another mod that provided a similar thing. There's also Item Bags, which is a different implementation of that concept

I've had this problem as well, and so has Gervig91. Gervig91 fixed it by re-installing all mods that adjust NPC pathing (change schedules, maps, etc.). For me, the issue is gone on reloading the same save, but that means losing all of that day's progress, so it's not a fix. I've reinstalled all the mods I could determine were ones impacting it, but I'm not confident I've squashed the issue
also, could you post your log? I wonder if you and I have mods in common (maybe one / some in particular are causing the issue)

yeah, UI Info suite
but I disabled UI info since the other one fells better for me
I use NPC map locations, and disabled that feature in UI Info suite. but that would only affect the map. I've seen NPCs walk into the jojamart and then disappear, even though the map shows them as still in there. They also don't come back out (I've stood outside until 12am before calling it)
I was under the impression everything was ported to PFM now
not everything was converted, but it's apparently ok to use both
well some mods still require it
also Vitor, you and I have several similar mods, but I have extra stuff that you don't, like custom NPCs that edit maps

and I use those to play multiplayer but my friends are lazy enought to play with only those

when it happens for me, it's Shane, Pam, and Sam that disappear in there. I haven't seen Jodi disappear but it doesn't mean she wouldn't o.o she wasn't in there on those days
can you disable SVO and check?

hmmm. but would you not get a warning in your SMAPI log in that case? Both times it's happened for me, there was nothing in my SMAPI log; no errors or warnings

I'll also add that for me, the NPCs aren't just "invisible" they're literally not there. I've walked through the whole mart and didn't "run" into anything, nor was I able to talk to an NPC who wasn't there. Does that mean it might not be a sprite issue specifically, like something related SVO?

Sometimes noc pathfindjng breaks and they just walk in a straight line until the plqyer sleeps, ig oring all collision and ending up ectrenely far out of bounds

The usual culprit is an npc aiming for 1 tile of a 2 tile warp and hitting yhe other
I notice that all 3 of y'all have AutomaticGates. I wanted to poke around in the code for it to see if there's any chance it could mess with NPCs, but it's closed source.
With jojamart patching the right warp tiles to have thwir Back layrt be dirt fixes it bc the npcs will then aim for thr left wwrp tile

I've looked through the entirety of one of the 3 logs, cross-referencing against the others for shared mods. AutomaticGates is my main suspect, followed by (possibly) PyTK or TMXL, buut only if one of those makes changes to the way all maps are loaded (including vanilla), because there's no dependent mods for either of them that should be altering the JojaMart map.
Altering town map can cause npcs to aim for the wrong door
thanks, logofe! What makes it difficult for me to test out stuff is the fact that bug isn't reproducible on my end. Just reloading makes the issue go away, but it means losing that day's progress. I've also only happen twice, on 2 different saves (same modlist though).

I wonder if there's a pattern with which in-game days are affected, maybe only certain schedules lead to some interaction between NPCs...
This is why we need the debug whereis; if thwyre in kine 1ith the left door 5hen sometbing (forage in the way? Pc talked to them/another npc in the way? Pc was in th3 way when their oatch was determined?) Meant they decided to goto right door but hit left door first
For me, one day it was Pam's birthday, she and Shane were inside the mart, but not. The other day it was Shane's birthday, and he was inside the mart, but not (I think Sam was also inside but not, but it was a while back and I don't remember).
If it happens again, I'll be sure to use that debug command
