@carmine dirge it seems to work when I copy the settings into my own file, maybe they just weren't spawning until late at night? (you have it set to random spawn times)
it ended up in Program files(x86) when I downloaded it the first time, that might've been the problem

Reset Terrain Features has menu checkboxes that let you avoid removing the wrong stuff
(and you can quit out and reload if you accidentally do)
I did backup my save file before downloading anything just in case anything got screwed up.

ah, yeah, explorer hides the actual extension by default and that'll happen sometimes

I think you can change the extension if you open it in a text editor & select "save as"

i just made a copy of a json file, and replaced the text and name with manifest

Sorry @tawny kindle! One last thing. The white slimes don't produce slime balls. Is there a way I can make them behave like other slimes in the slime hutch?
I'll take a look at the slime hutch code, but unfortunately I don't think FTM adds the settings they need to do that (i.e. they're not considered "tame" when FTM spawns them there)

hmm...as far as I can tell, slime balls are just based on the number of slimes in the building, so they probably should be counted for that
oh, but FTM technically removes them overnight, maybe the "count # of slimes and spawn slimeballs" bit happens before they appear
(not much I can do about that, unfortunately, FTM does it for safety reasons)

ive been using mods for years, this is the first time seeing an issue with SMAPI
then purge all the mods related to smapi (the ones that come with smapi)
have you tried to reboot the computer? sometimes unauthorized access etc. errors can go away that way
and try that i guess
if not, i guess you could check the permissions the offending files have (whatever smapi installer can't replace/remove)

Bushes and some other things aren't directly attached to maps, so installing new maps mid-game will leave them in weird spots. I guess the advice is to reset bushes and trees for all locations.

So I've been putting together mods for my next playthrough... Trying to make it a bit more immersive and give it some longevity. I have installed SVE, the immersion farm, the harder CC bundles, and the Seasonal Garden Farmhouse among a bunch of other stuff. But those are the only four I think I really need from the start? I think I'm mostly wondering if you all have any recommendations that I should consider now.

Seasonal Villager Outfits and the newly released companion pack for SVE. Nice for immersion e.g. people are all sensibly dressed at the ice fishing festival
Oh and another one to help with immersion, Canon-Friendly Dialogue Expansion. It makes villager dialogue not be so repetitive, and includes new festival dialogue for years 2 and 3.
Oh that will be really nice. The dialogue repetitive-ness gets to me.

I think I didn't actually install the NPC locations thing for the map stuff so this was likely me being silly.
Hmm. Another neat little mod I really like is called Public Access TV. When you fulfil certain requirements e.g. friendship, certain villagers start up their own TV channels where you can find a heads up of certain game information. For example, Demetrius shares the train schedule, Linus shares contents of different garbage cans, Marlon will share the locations of mushroom floors in the mines. I find it neat and maybe because it's integrated with the social aspect, it doesn't feel too OP.
I like that. I love stuff that's made to work with the game instead of kinda breaking the "rules."
And another use for the TV is really nice, because the whole Living off the Land channel is ignorable content on a replay
Like I discovered that one of my mods had a relationship overview for villagers that seems to track things you've given them so I removed "LookUpAnything."
The gift tracking is actually in vanilla game now
And LookUpAnything has a setting, you can make it only show you the gift info for likes/loves you've already discovered
Ah so that was a base game thing. Awesome. I really like it.

Ah got the map thing to work. I had to remove the other files.
A mod for longevity... if you want a really tough challenge, is Seed Shortage + Better Mixed Seeds. You can't get seeds from stores any more (and/or they are exorbitantly expensive) and so you have to rely on mixed seeds, travelling cart and the seed maker to even get rolling at all. Forces a sort of self reliance lol.
But phew... if you combined Seed Shortage with the harder CC bundles mod, that would be brutal. Would take 2-3 years to get the greenhouse I'm sure 
Yeah, I'm not out to make stuff too grindy. That's why I haven't installed Hardew Valley or whatever it's called.
I still want to enjoy myself.
I think my thing is just wanting more variety and a few harder goals.
Then I've got one more to drop on you I think - Everlasting Baits And Unbreakable Tackles Mod. It adds late-game quests for new fishing content: recipes for iridium star versions of all the baits and tackles that never get used up or wear out. You have to complete a bunch of quests for them, and the crafting costs are hefty, so you do feel like you've earned it.

Reading the modpage for Harder CC Bundles, it seems that it's compatible in general with PPJA mods
Harder CC Bundles seems to have a configuration option to include PPJA items into bundles though, if you select that, you'd need this yeah ^

Yeah, i was very surprised by the modding community. I read ConcernedApe makes modding really easy, but I'm not sure how much the core mods like SMAPI actually do.
Content Patcher has really changed it.
I totally agree Maythorn, I played stardew on release and came back during this quarantine to a whole different game cause of mods 
I used to sit for hours and hours editing the xnb files so that I could smoosh mods together.
man, i remember my first attempt at using mods XD,, i came to the modding party fairly late, so there were CP mods now, but i still struggled for hours on end trying to edit a config.json
Scarecrows and cats are what always got me. And then I used the seasonal immersion stuff so I had to edit each season's files separately.
It took so much motivation everytime I wanted to start again after a patch. lol
yeah, Content Patcher seems to be a big game changer. Is SMAPI just a mod manager or does it actually expose functions in the game?
It's a full API exposing the functions in the game code
Modders can focus on writing their ingame logic, pretty cool stuff
Smapi is the base core for mostly all mods to function

They're all still useful (though Save Anywhere can cause bugs due to how complex saving is). You can check the list at https://smapi.io/mods/, which is updated when a mod becomes obsolete.

I look at it like sprinklers... for making metal bars.
I loooove automate. Though I do think it would be cool if you had to work for it somehow, like craft special "automated chests" using extra materials, with different tiers of chests "can connect up to 10 machines" "20 machines" etc. Having to then prioritize which setups to automate first in the early game. Just for that extra satisfying feeling of progression 
That would be a cool, balancing addition I would approve of.
I wouldn't have wanted automate on my first playthrough. But it's fantastic for late game or replays when you want to focus on other stuff.

Not at this time, Furniture Anywhere is using some quite old logic by this point, and before I make any additions or changes, I first need time to replace the current implementation with a better one that I've figured out.
so two issues: for some reason Hisame's Craftables is acting up (this is the only json file that shows errors: https://smapi.io/json/content-patcher/8690cb2d38384b1dbb88b23cd6aa499e when i checked the rest they were file)
and second it says that a mod needs the espresso machine foods mod, but when i have that mod in, it says theres a duplicate in ppja's artisan valley
just search for any duplicate things in ppja and ^ this mod
dont remove the entire mod just the duplicated things

Based on the place the NRE is arising, wanted to check it wasn't a problem with the connection between CP and CP-A introduced by the CP update. But yeah, as Amaryn said, more likely to be a problem with a specific animation pack then; best to update everything
I want to re-download Yellog's furniture mod, but the one on Nexus doesn't work with Smapi. I once got a link here with a verison that works with smapi, but don't remember what site it was on. Anyone willing to help?

so what's in the update list rn is four folders that are like add ons of other mods and then the upgraded horse one says there's an update to download but the only thing offered on the page is the 1.1.0 one, there isn't a 1.1.1
the only animation pack in the mods folder is the animated gems

I want to copy my pc save to my phone, but on the pc I'm still using some mods. Do I just copy the save files from the PC as usual? Or should I delete whats inside the mods folder first?
So most mods will not cause problems for you here. The trouble will be any mods that affect save data.
For example, any mods that add new items will be a problem, because those broken items will cause issues if you remove the mods that added them
Most aesthetic mods will not affect your savefiles, and most UI interface or game mechanics mods will also be fine
Of course, when you open the savefile on mobile it'll look different without all your aesthetic mods. Good news if you're on Android, you can probably get most of those mods for your phone too, if you want

I would actually try first getting your savefile working on vanilla There's no harm in copying your savefile over and giving it a spin on mobile to see if there are any bugs as-is
Visit all game areas and open all your chests

Sum up
- Download and install SMAPI for Android
- Download expanded fridge mod and put it in your phone's mod folder
- Copy savefile to Android and try running the game with SMAPI
- Open the fridge and make sure everything looks fine.
- If it works, then you can go about adding your other mods to phone (some of them will work, some not)

Gift Taste Helper - buggy. Click areas affected by zoom levels. Scroll on relationships tab is broken, on calendar it is still helpful.
Lookup Anything - limited but still useful. No "hover", limited to volume buttons and virtual buttons to use its features. Needs config setting changes and/or virtual keyboard edits.
NPC map locations - a bit buggy with display of location names, but still useful. I really like the minimap on mobile.

so i played expanded with my friends, in multiplayer the new villager/npcs didnt show up. only the host can see it.
but when i play alone in different save with same expanded mod, the new npcs shows up.

Does anyone know how to move the UI for the Magic mod, or the experience bar for UI Info Suite? They overlap by default, neither has any options for moving them, from what I could find in the config file, in-game options, or anywhere else in their mod folders
if they dont have inbuilt options to change the position than i think you would need to change their position in the code
the memory error is trying to write/read protected memory which means windows or your pc settings are preventing reading and writing to that folder location. happened to me too

You know you might have more than one copy of Karmylla's. That mod recently changed the name of its mod folder. There's

from different versions. It's possible that one is being recognized by Vortex and one is not.

@lunar falcon I don't think farm extended and immersive farm would be compatible with each other. They are both trying to edit the same map, and so you probably entered the cave under the logic of one farm map and exited the cave under the logic of the other

Old versions of SVE needed to be completely uninstalled, but you said you still had 3 main SVE folders with different names. Safest bet is to delete them and also delete the SVE folders that start with [CP] [TMX] [FTM] and [SVE] (because they could have merged with older versions and have files in that don't belong and could cause a problem). Safest is to delete all and replace with the newest of everything. @proper sparrow

@lunar falcon I spent almost a week testing mods my first time, I was setting up a multiplayer server for my girlfriend and wanted to make sure nothing broke. ๐ Maybe overkill. The effort paid off though, we had over 100 mods and never had to use save backups or Dx a crash

Also check that your "Custom Music" and "[CM] Stardew Valley Expanded" folders exist. I saw a couple errors with loading Custom Music.

First I'd look through the whole file, see if there's a "SprinklersReplaced" line
If not, then I would put "Basic Sprinkler, Quality Sprinkler, Iridium Sprinkler" in the NotReplaced line

It's as simple as dropping the content folder into the packed folder, running the unpack script, replacing what you need, then hitting the pack script
I'd be wary of .xnb mods not just because of its general problems, but because .xnbs have fallen out of use for so long that most of them wouldn't be compatible with the current version of the game even if you found them
