i redownloaded it again because everything inside the assets folder vanished and now there isnt even an asset folder inside

i got it!!!! i only had to re-unzip it two more times before the assets folder stopped being devoured as soon as i blinked

so, i had to reset my laptop bc sdv was lagging an unplayable amount, and now it just straight up wont launch with smapi?
whenever i try to start it, it goes straight into the game and doesnt load up the smapi launcher at all

Are you launching through steam?
If so it sounds like your steam launch options were reset and you need to re-enter the green SMAPI text into steam

I have no clue how android works but for pc you’d download the exact same files again but updated, theyd all contain the same things and you’d just drag them all back into your mods folder and replace the old ones. Sve has a few folders, for an update you need to replace or remove and add the new files

If u use 1.9 SVE lower must delete all if update from 1.10 pretty much same as pc extract replace all
What i always do make folder SVE so all sve related on one folder so when update come delete inside that folder and extract new ones

@keen rivet that us however what messes up NPCs at festivals. I would suggest you name the master folder (Stardew valley exp) (or whatever) in brackets to ensure it loads first.

And its not a bug as such : SVE loads their NPCs into festivals the same way the core NPCs are added and their file names are designed to make it work.

But if you reorganize the files you can upset the load order which means if you run other custom NPCs that are not SVE ones it may mess up the system

So if you put all the SVE folders into one folder just make sure that the folder name is in ()s to maintain load order.

Ah. I've seen a few bug reports re the festivals and duplicate custom NPCs. Usually on the NPC that is duplicated rather than SVE.
Well so far i use sve there no duplicate npc on festival usually just crash or work normal

You don't want any that effect gameplay? But there are some great ones that do that -- the tractor, skull cavern elevator. New characters: Shiko, Lyell, Riley...
SVE (Stardew Valley Extended) is also amazing. Just awesome. Adds new characters, stories...maps...good stuff

It's not cheap stuff like that. The tractor mod might feel like cheating...but farmers kinda use tractors alot

i just downloaded stardew valley expanded, and man the lag is bad. like, moving the mouse is a struggle because of how slow it's running. is it just my computer that's the issue, or can i somehow fix this?

@knotty pecan really depends on how good your pc is. Also something I advise is pull up task manager and take a look to see if anything is at its limit
yeah i used that & it should be fine; i have 16gb of memory & only around 3 of them seemed to be occupied
im able to run SVE on a potato laptop so i dont think you need like a high end pc or anything for it

@stoic thistle just becuz u didn't mess around with the mods doens't mean you don't have to send the full log, the full log tells us more about the error because we get to see the surrounding factors

Can you try reinstalling SMAPI using the installer? It can't find its internal folder, which should only happen if it didn't install correctly, or if you copied the SMAPI exe somewhere else and tried to run it, or something else I didn't think of immediately :P

You can just run the installer again, it will do the cleanup. Can you take a screenshot of the success window when it's done and share it here?

@ashen elbow People don't need to create a mods folder, just to clarify - SMAPI will always create it for them and install the mods it comes with. If they don't have a mods folder, SMAPI hasn't been installed correctly, so creating it won't help :)
It installs ConsoleCommands and SaveBackup when you install it, which are handy to have

@manic bison I'm not sure exactly - it is a bunch of content packs for different frameworks primarily, so most of it should be fine. There was a crashing error for farmhands marrying custom NPCs for awhile post 1.4, but it seems to have either cleared up when I went to reproduce it a month ago or is less common than I had previously thought 
I don't use it myself but would probably rate it like "yes probably just make sure you all have exact same mods", but you would probably find more people that have actually done this and would be aware of any quirks on the SVE subreddit

Pretty much you just install it, then take a garden pot and click what you want to transplant, carry it to the new place, and then click there
You might have to change some things in the config if you're trying to move full grown trees. Since full grown trees are defaulted to no transplant.

Does anyone know how to use the unofficial update for Generic Shop Extender? It doesn't come with a config file or generate one, so I tried using the config file from the last official update. Not working. Trying to add fiber as a buyable resource to robin's shop.

Farm Type Manager can create new slimes with configurable colors, but it won't affect any that already exist

FarmTypeManager/data/your farmer's name & some numbers.json has a section for monster spawn setups, or content packs can do it

FTM only spawns new things, so unless you're already using it or an [FTM] pack, it won't

slimes spawned by the game in the mines/breeding building/etc should still be the same as they always were, it doesn't affect that
but it can continue to spawn new "custom" slime types if you set it up that way

alright, here it is
saving this over your character's file should spawn one black slime at the bus stop
the "green slime" in that file has a "color" setting you can change, it's "R G B A" from 0 to 255
(despite the name, most slimes are just "green" slimes, stardew picks their loot/etc by color)
so to make a white slime, i do 255 on each?

oh and one more thing. i have a quarry mod that uses ftm. will this change mess with that?
if it's a separate content pack in its own folder, like "[FTM] quarry mod", it should be fine
the FarmTypeManager/data stuff just affects one farm, and they all run at once

installing FTM and loading a save once will generate one

default applies to newly generated files, but it doesn't apply to pre-existing ones (it's an awkward older feature)

but basically if a save doesn't have its own file yet, it copies default.json
so I just rename demo to arin.....?

i have so many errors in my smapi log it keeps crashing the log parser
@tawny kindle , sorry to annoy you again, but in my slime hutch, no slimes dropped diamonds, which is what white slimes do
if you're spawning them directly in the slime hutch, they might not have the same settings as the ones you actually breed there, unfortunately
FTM doesn't have a setting specifically for that, it just creates the usual "wild" ones
let me check their code, though, they might want a specific color setting for white

try setting color to "254 254 254", they should spawn diamonds that way (you can skip the fourth number)

the fourth number is "alpha", a.k.a. transparency; the game doesn't usually use it, but it's an option
you can leave it out in FTM, or set to 255 for full visibility
so "254 254 254 255" or just "254 254 254" should work

I'm not really sure how slime breeding works, I've never done it
so how could i spawn some? like could i spawn them in my hutch?
using that demo file setup, you should be able to just change the color values to 254
there're also "minimum" and "maximum" settings below that, so you could spawn more than one
and a map name setting that should currently be "bus stop", but I think "slime hutch" will work there
if not, you can visit the hutch and type whereami in the SMAPI console to see its correct name

it's kind of a complicated file, but if you want to play around with it more, the ConfigEditor.html file in the main FTM folder has a UI for it
try including a space in "Slime Hutch" and replacing those terrain types ("Diggable", etc) with "All"

you should probably clean up your mods folder too, it looks like you have some duplicate mods, mods that need updating (particularly SVE (which causes problems with farmhouse redone sometimes) and farm type manager)
and mods that need installing (ancient crops etc.)
sve needs to updated again? seems like everytime I turn around it needs an update

probably isnt a severe thing but is good habit to get into in case they do end up breaking sometihng

Hi all. To anyone with technical expertise I'd like to ask real quick: Does SMAPI access/modify RAM in order to work? I'm a bit concerned that if it does, I may potentially flag myself for a ban in a separate online game with a finicky cheat detection system by playing both games simultaneously. Now I haven't actually been banned by the game (so far) which is a good thing, but I'd just like to know if SMAPI does possibly touch on RAM or whatnot as part of its MO. I'm not very good with coding and I don't see any explanation anywhere, leading to this question.
(Steam can be configured to launch Stardew via SMAPI in one of two ways)

Sve is liked by some and highly disliked by others, just depends what type of gameplay you like I suppose. But it adds a lot and is really well done even if I don’t like the actual gameplay myself, definitely worth giving a go and seeing if you like it and removing it if you don’t

first time I played base game I enjoyed it for 2 hours, got super frustrated wit little details and stuff, added 100 mods, thought I was missing out on way too much of the base feel, downgraded to 22 mods that were basically fixes and quality of life mods, played till winter year 1, got super bored and have been enjoying SVE ever since

My first playthrough, I got partway through year 2 with no mods before dropping SDV entirely, and then I discovered mods, starting with quality of life stuff that I thought would make the game more fun, and I sat under 60 mods for a while. Before I knew it though, I started adding retexture / recolor mods, then dialogue, then other gameplay stuff, then new characters, and now I'm up to 230ish mods I:
I intend to at least get to year 5 before trying out SVE (I've got multiple saves but none further than partway through year 2-3)

The only change in 1.10.8 is the removal of the Harvest Goddess compatibility patch.
So my idea is i want use IF2R without SVE on early year then add SVE later but when i use IF2R without SVE error come so i ask can IF2R use without SVE
(You used to be able to use it independently, but from the log it looks like it uses tilesheets from SVE. You can move those over and it theoretically should work, but it could always change again in a later update so it's probably best to just use them together.)

well i'm already using the mod FarmTypeManager, and I made some edits in the json file, but it only applies to one world. I was told before that only content patchers apply to all worlds. Is there a way I could make it apply to all worlds?
@carmine dirge "Content packs" are basically mods, e.g. anything with folder prefixes like [FTM], [CP], etc. In FTM's case, you can make one by creating a folder and putting your config file inside with the name content.json. You'll also need manifest.json, which tells SMAPI what it's for. See here for that: https://github.com/Esca-MMC/FarmTypeManager#content-packs
FTM content packs will apply to everyone (unless you make it more specific with the "file conditions" settings near the bottom)
I'm not exactly at end game yet, but I've gotten decently far in the game. I got a fully upgraded farm and a big coop, I think I have 3 years in game, and I have about 247 hours in game. I'm on level 105 of the mines and have unlocked the desert, but haven't finished the museum yet. I just need a few more artifacts though. I'm getting a bit bored with the festivals because I think I grinded for all the prizes my first year LOL

@carmine dirge Try this setting for the area: "DaysUntilSpawnsExpire": 0 (or a number over 1, if you want them to disappear eventually)
0 (or less) will make them last forever
"null" uses the default behavior, which is to remove them overnight
