i recently factory reset my pc and didnt play the game for like 15 days

My game is launching zoomed in, i went into the settings and there were only windowed and windowed borderless options? no fullscreen. Whenever i switch to windowed it does that. I have tried it 5 times and its doing it whenever i switch to windows lol
There’s options in the menu to how much zoomed in you want if that’s what you’re talking about?
Its starting zoomed in like unnaturally. Its hiding some parts of the game screen

are there any mods to make the farmer look shorter? I feel like they kind of tower over everyone else.
dont think ive seen that and it would prolly be pretty hard to make cus youd need to make all the base sprites smaller and all the clothes sprites too and then reposition how stuff is in the farmer's hands
is it easy to swap between smapi and normal? Because i play vanilla with friends, but want to start a modded playtrhough
You could use modgroups and just have one with no mods in it, or manually run stardew in vanilla via steam by changing the launch options

hey guys ive downloaded smapi on a mac and have opened install on mac. It tells me that mono isnt installed, can anyone tell me how to download it and where?

the content.json can't load because its invalid, and when i ran the json through a validator i got a huge error

Okay @proven burrow make sure you in the files tab/viewing it. You want to choose manual download for the first one that simply says NPC Locations at the top of the box.

Ah no. So you went in one too many folders when you pasted it over
so i pasted it in the wrong place?
Basically when you downloaded the mod you get a zipped folder. You enter that and there should be a folder with the same of the mod and possibly a version number or nothing else
You just suppose to copy the folder inside the zipped one

Np, 90% of mods are the exact same to download and for some you’ll have to download dependencies which are generally framework mods that are allow the others to run.
Yep normally if there’s anything special it will say it in the description tab on its nexus page

Hey, on the tutorial on wiki, it said that the mods should be in the Mods folder, and then the mod itself should be in a folder without the numbers. The SVE mod doesnt have a folder inside without the numbers like the others had, and there are just a bunch of folder instead, what do i do? Do i just erase the numbers?

PyTK is a framework mod, and doesn't do much on its own

just make a new save if you are done with modded. There is a risk of your files getting corrupted. make regular backups if you are going through with it

You can back up your save file in case you have any problems, even in addition to SMAPI's automated backups. I would not expect problems from removing those mods, it's just a courtesy warning because of things that mod does.

hey there. i'm searching for a guide for where to place the buildings on the stardew valley expanded farm, which has predefined spaces for them. I remember there being a guide image of some sort, but i could be wrong... Does somebody know something?
Did it just need to be restarted? That looked similar to a return to title issue but I didn't see that happening in trace

Does it look like I have SAMPI installed correctly? I am trying to install a mod for the first time but it isn't working. I have exited Steam and rebooted since installing but when I launch the game it doesn't seem like the mod is doing anything.

in my experience, I tend to get the same exact string of errors from it about - half the time I use SVE or so?
but I get different errors from what is in uberkwefty's log.

What do you mean it's not working?
It's supposed to show the sell price of an item when you mouse over stuff in your inventory, but when I mouse over stuff it just shows the normal things

I've added PPJA and updated things (which I need to go and do again) since the last time I actively noticed the one I typically get popping up in the log.
I don't know how exactly I would know if the mod loaded; the game seemed to launch the same as if there is no mod
The console will say
If it didnt, it will say something like skipped mods: cjb show sell price
(SMAPI itself is probably not running - I'd double check the launch options.)
where are the SAMPI launch options?
@gray vale FTM 1.10 is the one that adds GMCM support, so it'd definitely be some other issue in that setup. Other than that it mainly just fixes Android bugs, so if you see the FTM errors again, let me know. Seems fine in that log, at least, but yeah.
if you're running the game using SMAPI, you should get a console command window when it opens, like this:
when it's done loading, the game should open normally
but with mods loaded

no, it's not a steam game, it has to be launched via a separate program that appears after you properly install SMAPI
it should be called "StardewModdingAPI.exe"
You want to change the stardew launch options if you launch from steam frequently though

it will not appear in your steam games list unless you manually add a shortcut to it using steam

to find that EXE file to launch the game, you'll have to find the stardew valley folder that SMAPI was installed into(most easily found in steam by right clicking on stardew valley, clicking properties, clicking the local games tab, and clicking browse local files)and double click that file

you can create a shortcut easily to do in the future by right clicking on the file, going to send to, and clicking on desktop(create shortcut)

Ok, my problem is the following:
In the 6 hearts event with Victor, it reaches a point where dialogues are skipped, I realized this very easily, I have the Spanish translation, but I don't know where to find that dialogue in the original EVS folder (English) If you could tell me where the dialogues for this event are, I would appreciate it, since I should just paste and translate it.
If you download the mod DebugMode https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/679 it does this useful thing if you have it enabled for events, where it tells you the ID of the current event you're in, as well as which part of the script it's on as the event progresses
You could grab the ID of any event you have a problem with and then compare the mods' content.jsons , like see if the original has that problem so you know if it's a problem between translation or not? And once you narrow it down you might be able to fix it :) (and report to author of course)
alright so im working on modding sdv mobile but im playing it on a cromebook. and apparently to mod sdv on chrome i need to turn on developer mode
but to turn on dev mode it wipes my chromebook which makes it sound like id lose my good save in sdv

Um hi guys, I was wondering if you could help me. So I downloaded a mod that replaces your kitchen in-game, there's multiple files and for the first time i did it i dragged them in and it replaced the files with the same name. then I went back and read the instructions (I'm an idiot and I forgot to make a copy of the original files) So I went in-game and a bunch of my furniture is messed up now. I'm a complete noob when It comes to mods. Any ideas?

Not sure why, but the back of my shirt appears to be glitched.
so i have sve and custom characters lyell, nicolas, and john
when i go to any festival, sve characters (vincent, sofia, olivia, and the joja farmer (i feel so bad i forgot hsi name lmao)) are replaced by the non-sve custom characters
and theres no red text in my smapi log

Can anyone help me figure out why my arms look detatched from my body? or whatever's going on here?
Sve loads custom festival chars the same way the game does however for customs it works in order of installation or maybe alphabetically so it will be messed up if you run any non SVE chars with it.
Since there is no way of knowing how many custom npcs are player will have and therefore what order they will load in.
Most custom creators load their nocs using TMX but this renders them invisible to farm hands in co op.

You will get red text and feel sad for losing them, as they are awesome. But your game will work.

So my friend and I got a bunch of PPJA mods and I was able to get mine to work but now he's having an issue where items won't appear in shops and if I'm holding one of the items it will look like a different item from base game or another one of the PPJA mods. Does anyone know how to fix this

I'll get it right now, he's saying that it will tell him he doesn't have a dependency mod when he does and other things. I fixed my issue fairly easily I just didn't see one of the required mods when downloading, so that fixed my issue. But we updated all the mods he has, made sure he had all of the required mods and such. We honestly spent probably about an hour and a half trying to figure out what was wrong last night.
Here's his latest smapi log, he just ran it so it's a brand new log

Yeah that's normal for the DCburger portraits, all the actual pictures are in portriture(that is not spelt right) so the DCburger mod is normal and shouldn't be affecting the items in game, as I said we've tried everything the mod creator said to try, they said the item glitch was a common JA mod glitch and to try uninstalling all the JA mods except we tried that. Completely deleted all the mods from PPJA and reinstalled them and it's still glitching. Such as we have a choclatier's mod and to him the sweet items look like base game items such as muffins or it uses item icons and names from other food mods such as Starbrew valley so a chocolate will look like a modded drink but the modded drinks look like base game items.
We honestly tried everything minus wiping his whole mods folder and redownloading everything even the mods not related to PPJA

(It's pretty simple to do manually though, and there are more people that can help with that than with a manager :) )

But it might also pick up every piece of forage
the global option doesn't work either, at least didn't use to work

What are the issues that are caused by switching maps mid game aside from buildings/bushes and other things that can be handles with reset terrain mod? Having an issue with an unbuildable area (can spawn paths, can be walked on, can have objects)
Hmm, was it a modded map you switched to?
I switched to tiny garden farm (i tested it on a new save and it was fine). I also edited it a bit but didnt do anything in the area of the issue
I did switch from overgrown garden farm
I'd guess it's a problem with the map itself, rather than switching mid-game. You could start a new save using that map and see if you still have the problem, which should make it certain.

Re:noobmodder and Moo: FTM can spawn objects in that no-build rectangle, but it doesn't affect buildable stuff or change map code. MTN might be able to do that, maybe, since it's the actual farm type mod?

@split patrol I have also noticed this in my most recent playthrough, and I'm in Fall 25 of year 1. In my case, I have a map recolor that makes the dig spots look different (4-leaf clover from Flower Valley) and I didn't realize they were dig spots lol I thought they were just decorative
Is it possible one of the mods you have makes the dig spots look different? If not, I'm not sure if it's just random chance
I have a map recolor (Stardew Foliage Redone) and I thought that was a possibility but I haven't seen anything that could be a dig spot. I also tried hoeing spots that I thought it could be a dig spot but nothing ;-;
