Any chance someone knows what's causing this rainbow block in my chest inventory? Could be a number of mods, but if I knew the affected files it would help a bunch in me tracking it down. Thanks!
what mods are you using?
that's a bit tricky, about 120 of them. I managed to avoid this block just a day or 2 ago, but it came back somehow.

it looks like a color wheel,, so maybe someting to do with color?
only thing that I have that might affect that is Colorful Chests, but I had that installed when this wasn't present. I'll try pulling it out and seeing if that helps!
Hey now! That corrected it. I must have another mod that allows Chest Color changes and they were trying to both work at the same time. Thanks Cheese!
@dire fractal That gift box is considered a chest by the game, but it ignores any items stored in it. The next Automate update ignores gift boxes, but in the meantime making sure none of the machines/chests connect to it (including diagonally) should fix that.
If that's an unclaimed cabin you're just using for storage, you can also use this mod https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/5253 to remove the box! You install it and type remove_seed_boxes in the SMAPI console. (It lets you upgrade the cabin, too.)

Do you know what the status is with Climates in multiplayer? Is fine again? I know some people were having weirdness awhile back but I'm not sure how many versions ago or if persists.

I just installed SVE on Android and the FPS makes it unplayable, even after setting MonsterLimitPerLocation to 0 in the Farm Type Manager json. Is there anything else I can try?

(This experimental version of Chests Anywhere lets farmhands access chests in any synced locations, not only their current one. In most cases that includes the farm, farmhouse, and farm buildings.)

[SMAPI] - Sauvignon in Stardew 1.9.0 because its EntryDll value 'SauvignoninStardew.dll' doesn't match the actual file capitalization 'SauvignonInStardew.dll'. The capitalization must match for crossplatform compatibility.

@mental vapor Maybe check out https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/4542 ? There is a CP version of medieval modern you could use instead, but these are based on the same theme from eemie and have more options and features.
(The linked mod you just unzip and drop into your Mods folder like any other mod, though you'll need to run the game once with it installed to generate the config.json if you want to change to different options it has.)

You're fine! On Windows you should be able to just double click it to open it like a folder - then you can drag the SMAPI installer folder out somewhere easy to access, like your desktop
Or if you're looking at the zip in your downloads folder, you should be able to right click it and have some option like "extract here" or something similar, either way as long as you get the installer folder out of it !

When you installed SMAPI, it will have created a Mods folder in your game folder - if you're using Steam, you can open it easily by right clicking Stardew Valley in your game library, clicking properties, local files > browse local files
(If you want to start the modded game from Steam, we'll need to edit your launch options, but we can just get a couple things installed and tested to make sure it's all working first if that's easier!)

Oh, perfect. Most mods that do anything with game assets will require Content Patcher, like your buildings recolor does https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/1915
You download the zip, open it like you did the SMAPI installer zip, and put the folder called ContentPatcher inside your newly created Mods folder - SMAPI should already have installed two utility mods for you called ConsoleCommands and SaveBackup, so there will be folders there already.
where is my mods folder?
Inside your game folder! You can browse there from Steam if you're not sure where it is, but the default location is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley
Now you download any mods you want and put them in your Mods folder, too - like your buildings recolor https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/1993?tab=files unzipped will give you a folder called [CP] Elle's Seasonal Buildings and you just plop that into Mods :)
Any idea what the log I posted just a bit ago means?
if anyone has the time, I'm having a bit of difficulty. I've downloaded the mods and gotten smapi, yadda yadda, but as I'm trying to play through smapi the mods aren't here ...
On the Nexus page for any mod, there's a Requirements dropdown that will tell you if additional mods are required - like the dog replacements mod you linked can be used as a Content Patcher mod that replaces the original dogs, or there's an optional pack for a different mod called Adopt n Skin that you'd need to install before using. For the CP mods with lots of options, you run the game once with the mod installed to get a file called config.json in the mods folder that you can edit with notepad to change options. The mod page should have all the explanations on what you can pick. @carmine dirge

I'm not starting from steam, and yes I'm on windows 10
(If there's nothing in ErrorLogs or the file is really old, make sure you're starting the pufferchick icon StardewModdingAPI.exe then and not the regular chicken Stardew Valley.exe too!)

When you have the game open, is the SMAPI console open in the background? It's typically a black command prompt type window.

@carmine dirge When you start the game, the SMAPI console should open first, then the regular game. It will be logging everything different mods do, so it will say if they're loaded or not, or if something doesn't work because another mod isn't installed, etc. Your house should look different, at least, but check https://smapi.io/log for how to find and upload your SMAPI log!
Drag it into the box on the smapi website and click parse, that way you'll be able to link it!

You can just take a screenshot lee and hopefully someone can read it. Or browse through and see if anything obvious jumps out (like cannot load x mod because y mod is not installed)

I'm not sure that kind of desktop shortcut takes your launch options into account (which doesn't seem that useful)

@golden jewel You need to clean out your duplicate folders. I suggest reinstalling SVE following this install guide https://github.com/FlashShifter/StardewValleyExpanded/wiki/Install-guide so you don't end up with those.

SVE incudes CM and npc fixes in it, so you can delete the ones in the mod folder

If it's not a mod, don't put it in the save folder. Is that a save editor? It's really better to just edit those with a fancy text editor
delete custom music and custom npc fixes either from /mods or from /stardew valley expanded

Opening the zip file will give you a folder called [CP] Elle's Seasonal Buildings and that's the one that goes into Mods

I want to have two different saves and for one I’m using the sve immersive map but for the other I want the standard map along with a couple mods that I won’t have for the first save (the sve map one). Would I just have to remove the mods that I don’t want for each save and then also remove the immersive map when using save 2 to prevent issues? Like would this cause issues?

Is there a trick to have items show up on tables from custom furniture mods? Like I'm trying to put a coffee on a table and it goes on it but it shows up as just a small shadow but I can remove it from the table. And no smapi errors either
And on even one of the tables the coffee just turns into a crab pot... lol

@carmine dirge Looking at your screenshot I saw the problem very fast. At the top, it said "Select" in the console window. This means you had text highlighted, which pauses everything ingame including the loading process. Pressing Esc exits select mode and resumes the game.
yeah it doesn't... but I went from SDV 1.3.?? to 1.4.5 and from SMAPI 2.?? to the latest so I barely had another option whoops
I'll probably just restart and get CJB cheats to get back roughly to where I was lol

Does anyone know how to fix this so the wallpaper and flooring fits the entire room? I'm using the noBed cabin mod which increases the size of the cabin I think and so the flooring/wallpaper doesnt fit 😦

Thank you! I'm going for a coffee place kinda style. I'm working on doing like a little area on my farm with different "stores", like a flower place, coffee, clothing etc haha. Thats why i wanted cabins so the outside looks different instead of using the shed where it all looks the same

I have a question about Gwen medieval building sets, they only affect outdoors? Because if so the colors wouldn't match if you enter a building and it's all Disney colors inside it.
i don't think they do anything to interiors
however i wouldn't call the insides of barns and such disney colored. for the farmhouse and sheds at least you can use flooring and wallpapers

the next question i have is about get glam. im mainly just confused as to how get glam works? i thought i followed the directions and got the right things downloaded but the yellow text says im not?

Hey looking for help with SMAPI 3.4.1 and version 1.4.5. Game crashes immediately after loading a save. No mods other than the 2 that are installed automatically. SMAPI log https://smapi.io/log/4cecdaa12d734dbdb1d291639d01f7a4
So im using SVE and im on the 7th Sophia heart event. I tried going into her house, and the host (my friend) said that after the game crashed that it said "Unknown location" and the server closes. I also cant see her at events or on the map.

like the video was like three years old and linked to some weird site that wasn't any of where you can get real SMAPI from

I know you can place fences over grass, but is there a mod or something to let grass spread to under a fence? That would be basically disable the function of halting grass spread fence have, I think.

yes, but you need to plant the grass then place the fence on top of it, I want the other way around, grass spread under fences that is already there

Hi, i've been looking around the newest version of SVE, and it seems the config options on Immersive Farm 2 dont work correctly. I created a quick fix for this by simply swapping out the Immersive Farm 2 folder with the config in it for an older version of said file, but this breaks the farm's deepcave. Is there any way i can get a farm without those grass fields while still having a functional deep cave?
can i see both configs?
to clarify, the config not working correctly is changing "dirt crop field" (any of them) to true does not fulyl remove the grass, leaving an odd looking border,

right, so swapping the configs around didnt work, but for whatever reason, changing it back around and trying again did.
the only reason i can think of why this might be the case is probably something to do with the mineral spawning in the cave, perhaps the two parts dont process certain minerals the same.

@crimson oriole If they still have problems, make sure you include the host log, too! We can see from the log that you don't have the exact same mods, but can't tell what the discrepancies are (like if it's just missing the mods that SMAPI installs, that would be fine, but missing something like Adopt n Skin would be disaster). You need to make sure every player has the same number of skins in the A&S folder too.
I would think that we have the same mods, since i zipped my mods files and told them to just download it ? but yes i'll include it if it may help

That can happen if the mod author forgets to update the manifest. You can open the manifest.json in notepad and change the version to what SMAPI is looking for. Those mods in the SMAPI log don't have manifest errors, though, and there are important framework updates in the list.

Looks like you're trying to extract the wrong file, yeah.
You just want the folder called SMAPI-3.4.1-installer out of the zip.
If it's no longer in a zip file and is just a regular folder, you need to run install on Mac.command that's inside that folder.
@digital shore Sounds like it's a mod manager problem. Try uninstalling those mods completely with it, reinstalling them fresh, and make sure you redeploy.

Your log still has information like how many and what kinds of mods. There's not really any single "yes this definitely causes ten seconds of lag" answer, sorry! Could be general performance from a ton of mods or maybe big mods, maybe a lot of stuff processing with Automate (itw ould have to be a lot of stuff normally), maybe something going on in the background that's just a coincidence of timing, maybe you have a mod changing a lot of assets depending on indoors/outdoors, etc.

That's on day start though, there's a lot of stuff happening then. It's definitely not normal to have it just from randomly changing maps.

80 is not really a lot for modding channel, especially since with CP it's easy to get tons of mods that don't do anything but change a couple assets at a time. Just depends.

Just start the game normally and SMAPI should start first, then launch the game! SMAPI installed 2 mods when you installed it, one that lets you use debug commands, and the other that will back up your saves daily.
Check out https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Player_Guide/Getting_Started#Install_mods for how and where to install mods, and steer clear of anything that asks you to overwrite the game's XNB files in the Content folder (all your mods want to live in Mods where pufferchick can take care of them

So I’m looking to download a reskin type mod to change the look of the overall game. Anyone have any suggestions and if so will it work if I just open up the regular Stardew valley?
If by regular Stardew you mean without starting SMAPI, no, your mods only work when you launch SMAPI and let it start the game. There are several recolors, but they can change different things (like one may be mainly interiors, another mainly outside, another may do both). Some of the older ones may not be updated for 1.4.
These all are usually for outdoors, though some also do other things

Then there are mods that do more or different things that are meant to be styled for a certain recolor, like how Flower Valley does all the buildings and is meant to match eemie's palette. A Toned Down Stardew Valley is mostly interiors but also has configurable other things that kind of fill in the gaps not covered by eemie's or FV.
If you install it like the page I linked said, and it loads correctly (like you also installed required mods, it's not outdated for the game version, etc), it will load automatically, yes. Depending on the mod there may be things you need to do in order to see changes in game, so make sure you read the mod description.
Apologies for the God awful camera shot of my pc screen that desperately needs cleaning, however I wasn't sure if I should post this here or in regular game support considering I'm also using SMAPI, so here I went anyway just in case.
I had this happen yesterday as well. I updated vanilla SV in Steam last night. It updated. All fine and dandy. Cool beans. I update SMAPI as well. No problem. I wasn't going to update the mods yet since the console would tell me which ones. But I get stuck on this loop right here - it says "Starting game..." but never actually starts it. I also attempt to start the game manually through Steam and it doesn't start then either, but steam will insist that the game is running.

(Like if it's a mod that adds new items, you might have to buy it at a specific place, or there may be configuration options that you can set after you start the game in a special text file called config.json that you can edit.)

Yep! You just need to set your launch options in Steam. If you run the SMAPI installer again, the last screen where it tells you it successfully installed gives you the exact line you need to paste into your Steam launch options.

for example you can check and set hotkeys
Save Anywhere isn't recommended, as it could corrupt your save files
The problem is when i have to do anything else and i don't want to pass the day to save

Does SMAPI still work correctly if I put references to the actual mods there or do I need to have CP on my disc five times now?
@mint apex All the shortcut/argument does is tell SMAPI what folder to look in to find mods, so the mods do have to be installed properly in that folder even if it means you end up with a few different ones. I suppose you could set up some kind of elaborate symlink system per mod
but that seems unwieldy and Stardew mods are pretty small!

Seems like an awful lot of micro-management.
It's pretty sad/unfortunate that SMAPI doesn't really work well with Vortex Mod-Staging. Getting an awful lot of SMAPI errors whenever I switch between different profiles.
ModDrop also supports multiple profiles. I haven't seen what the log looks like after switching, so it may just have different (rather than zero) quirks, but it does work differently at least so you could check it out.
Ok well, I'm using Custom Walls and Papers with Montag's Modern wallpapers mod and the first time it changes the wallpapers. But I can't change it back to any vanilla wallpaper or to any wallpaper that I already used. It consumes it but it doesn't change the walls or floors
(It's (Moddrop is) free, but since they're testing their new subscription and revenue sharing thing they have a mega discount for early people, too.)
CWF places the walls and floors differently to get around the limitations of the vanilla system, and one of the side effects is that regular ones don't get placed right after. Can you post your log so we can see if there's another option maybe? https://smapi.io/log has instructions @split patrol

Oh hm, I assumed you were using the CP recolor + different CWF packs and thought maybe if you didn't have any packs that removing it might be an option. I feel like someone should just make a CWF pack of all the vanilla options so you can keep using them after applying a CWF one 
The thing is if I use a CWF to replace a CWF it still doesnt replace it if I already used it. if that makes sense
For example, I placed Red wallpaper, then I used Blue Wallpaper, but then if I tried to use the first red it doesnt replace it

@dire fractal A Toned Down Stardew Valley has a config.json that generates once you have run the game with the mod installed, and you can use that to change color schemes or disable certain edits.
@split patrol It looks like the author mentioned a coming soon update a couple months ago, especially pertaining to cabins, so maybe just hold out hope for that and reset + apply walls right the first time for farmhouse in the meantime 😅

if you limit yourself to CP you can only replace vanilla ones, however a CP mod would be able to target only a part of them in theory
and you would be able to have multiple CP mods if they edit and don't load
but it's theory because i don't know if there are mods doing this currently (not replacing all, and having config option)

sorry it's your choice but doing that is a bad idea for multiple reasons. Now that you are warned about that, yeah i suppose the solution would be to edit the content.json but it's not as easy as setting a dependancy

(SVO has a ton of patches. If it loads portraits anywhere vs just editing, a dependency won't be enough since it will double load anyway. And if SVO edits and this mod loads, SVO will apply after it regardless.)

I could sit here for an hour and SV will not start up either through SMAPI or from the folder, or even just by itself from steam.

CJB Item Spawner recently fixed a bug that wouldn't let you interact with the Floor TV if you used the mod to get it. Make sure you have the latest version of that, and maybe spawn a new TV if that still doesn't work
