I just need help understanding how I add content, the directions aren't the clearest, or I'm just dense. Some of the shirt/hair what have you mods are just zipped .pngs, and some are content packs, but I don't what to put where exactly
I just really want to know if it would be easier to keep using the DIY CP mod and adding to it
or just use Get Glam and let it handle everything

Get Glam content packs just go straight in the Mods folder like any other content pack
they're be called CP So and So, right? not GG Whatever?

hair mods, you need to make your Get Glam pack's folder, and put in it a subfolder named Hairstyles
you put the hairstyles .png (trimmed to have any vanilla hairstyles that were on it removed if you don't want duplicate hairstyles) in that folder and name it hairstyles.png
and you make a hairstyles.json which is just
NumberOfHairstyles:"[x]"
where x is how many hairstyles the pack adds

yeah you don't add anything to the inside of Get Glam
just like you don't add anything to the inside of Content Patcher

RashE, it looks like your Artisan Valley download got corrupted, resulting in Artisan Valley not being loaded and your MP game running into a lot of errors from mismatched mod loadouts. Delete it and reinstall.
Also if you want the PPJA better artisan goods icons pack you need to install Better Artisan Goods Icons itself
in addition you need to grab the unofficial update of Underdark Sewers

Thanks a million dude, the crash was caused by one of my players not using "NPC Map Locations for SVE" I think, since we haven't crashes since, but I will also incorporate these fixes.

i got the PPJA mega pack but apparently it didn't contain the most up-to-date versions of the PPJA set and it didn't contain all of it
i think the mega pack contains all the ppja stuff you need for it, but the fish part is a separate mod for sure

This seems to be the heart of the issue, the last 4 lines just keep repeating and repeating
and for the life of me I can't understand it.
it seems that one of your mods has a conflict with the game
and then when the mod tries to work something stops it, which results in a loop between the game and the smapi

something, somewhere, is null and the game is trying to do something that depends on it not being null
If you have farm type manager the monster location thingy is null so change it to 10 if thats what you have

I removed the three mods they told me to update, removed "Automate", voided all of my chests and stored my tools, made sure nothing was in the shipping container.
Since it happens Day 9, Spring, Year 1, I wonder if there is an event with jojo mart that morris needs to show up to that he isn't.
in my "D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\Content\Characters" folder I even copied Morris.xnb and renamed it MorrisTod.xnb, and the game is still crashing, leaving me with that simple crash log stating they could not find MorrisTod.xnb, a file that clearly exists in the directory it is searching.
Hi. I'm using SMAPI to play Co-op and it doesn't seem to recognize achievements in steam? I mean I get badges/achievements in-game but it doesn't reflect on steam. How can I fix this?

Copying and pasting the Morris.xnb would be completely useless because it's looking for the one provided by Content Patcher
Yeah I've tried some pretty tin foil hat fixes to be able to play again, that was not one of the smarter ones.
Content Patcher though, wonder if I could get a MorrisTod.xnb from that.
i suggest deleting SVE completely from the mods folders of all players and then reinstalling it.
🤷🏽♂️ Worth a try at this point.
SVE is supposed to provide Content Patcher the MorrisTod files, then Content Patcher provides them to the game; if something goes wrong in either of those the game won't be happy about it.
Since nothing else is erroring the problem is probably somewhere in SVE's files.

Reinstalling SVE and the immersive farm 2 mods didn't solve the crash. I'll be stuck on Spring 9th, Year 1 for the rest of my life, like a tedious version of Groundhog Day.

hah ! I defeated the darned bug ... I went into my appdata save file and just edited in specific monster killed for the mutant fly and bug ... it isn't a legit achievement but it cleared the darned ??? and i got the items for it ... i know i am missing something that clears it the legit way so i dont wanna post it to creator as a bug ... hopefully if t is a bug someone else in time will notice and report it ....

You have a lot of mods installed. Mods like SVE can cause lots of lag. Android just doesn't really have the same processing power for modding than as a PC.

@exotic plover You can see all the workarounds and unofficial updates available for SMAPI mods here https://smapi.io/mods. That said, Pathos did an experimental update for it awhile back. I can dig up the link if you want to try it. Some people still reported issues with it though, and it isn't like an ongoing maintained project or anything.

I've seen some people on Mac needing to install libgdiplus separately for some reason, but it's not quite the same error. I guess it's worth a shot. Maybe could find the library it's looking for if it exists and symlink it if that doesn't work

I tried simlinking it to where my DYLD_FALLBACK_LIBRARY_PATH is, but that actually made it fail entirely

@dire fractal It won't have a mod list laying around, or anything. Most mods are fine to add/remove mid save, so most aren't baked into the save or anything :/ Your save file will have references to custom NPCs and locations and items you may have installed, so you could check there, but it won't note at all things like recolors, content add-ons for vanilla NPCs and locations, etc.
You can also just go to Nexus and look at your download history.

Modding isn't built into the game, no! We have a pretty nice setup now for a game that was probably never intended to be modded, and the devs are nice to us 😄

yeah, when I first started the file archtitecture was different than what smapi was assuming, and people in this channel found it weird, so I just moved everything over to where the error messages thought it should be
it didn't solve /everything/ but it got automate and the user interface mods working

You can run the game once to get a new log and then share that, just to confirm that SMAPI itself and the mods it installs are working!

I can't see anything that might be interfering with it and as far as I'm aware it's installed correctly.
They're just not moving like one might expect.
Samundra was having that problem with gemstones the other day. It worked on a new save, but not on the existing one. When I tested it, it worked on an old save, but only until I walked outside (possibly walked into location where some existed? or just changed map? no idea), and once broken would not work again.
I haven't tried with a simple test pack to take to space, yet.
It didn't work on a new save either. For as long as CPA has been out there really haven't been a lot of mods that take advantage of it. Oh well. Quirkiness is to be expected.
Even setting up just that one mod is still just static images.
It works for me once I disable the other mods recoloring spring objects 😦 When you did just the one mod, I'm sure you also had CP and CPA to make sure it loaded?

In your log further up I see you had Starblue installed, so that would have interfered without specifically setting Animated Fish to load after.

The most guaranteed way to assure a mod loads after another one is by adding an optional dependency to the manifest https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Modder_Guide/APIs/Manifest#Dependencies but for quick testing you can also just rename the mod folder to have a z in front of it or whatever to make it alphabetically after the one you want to go first.
(SMAPI load ordering may change at any time and folder name is not guaranteed to work forever and proper way of assuring load order is dependencies void where prohibited etc etc)
They already go after starblue alphabetically. But my clean install was just the animations and prereqs with cjb item spawner.
([CP-A] Animated Fish comes before [CP] Starblue Valley)

according to the content.json you added "none" to the mailbox and grass but the tree configs are still the same

Not sure you're looking at the right one. Mailbox has been there since Lita's update, and if you open it directly from zip there are options like json "Pine Trees": { "AllowValues": "pine, spruce,none", "Default": "pine" },

You need to overwrite more than just the jsons, though. (just in case you were only doing those)

just copied the folder. Replaced the whole folder and added the magica trees back. With the none default it should work immediately

Well I don't know if its working as intended.. its with a furnace and chests..My first farm I put a chest in the center with coal and then put 4 furnaces with a wood path (connector) to it and then put a chest on the opposite side of each furnace - each one holding a different metal (copper, iron, etc) and then each furnace would pull its own metal and then a coal from the central chest..on my new farm it pulls metal from one chest and gives it to all 4..

Hi I need help with a portraits mod! I have it installed on Vortex and in the mods folder but it keeps saying "AnimePortraits\Villagers because it's an empty folder."
vortex has a tendency to miss files when installing, that's why it's not recommended for stardew valley
This is probably a dumb question but I want to install the EvenMore secret woods mod and it says to use the "world_bush reset" command. that wont mess up the game in anyway right, like perm remove all the bushes in the game? lol
no it just resets the bush positions. when changing maps, the bush placement will still be that of the old map, so you end up with bushes in your path or where they shouldn't be

It just means that it's got room for more added features and may have some bugs, but it's fully useable as is
the map they have done does look pretty big so they prolly need to still add features they planned
If you want like the full experience all tested and stable, you should probably wait, but it's always neat checking stuff out while it's still being made! And Sundrop has pretty big plans, so you'll want to keep track of it anyway :) (You could always install it to a separate mods folder for peeking at.)

I don't know about its own game really, since it doesn't do anything with new mechanics or game play or anything like that. It's definitely a lot of content packaged together, though. As we get more NPCs and people wanting to add things to vanilla locations, there will be more and more problems using everything at once

so ever since updating to 1.4 (in mid-march, after a couple months of no computer), i've got a bit of an issue with hats ingame
a) the 1.4 vanilla hats do not have an image
b) no json hat pack works. the items do not appear in the hat shop, and pre-existing hats do not have an image. i also cannot delete them. (i can move them between chests, however). pytk cleanup does not work, and neither does deleting my entire json assets folder in the save folder (which i did for an unrelated reason. bad idea. 0/10 would not recommend if you have as many json assets mods running as i do)

there was someone in here a while back with a baffling issue where they appeared to have smapi installed on an extremely outdated version of windows and also none of their mods were loading ever
(like. windows NT.)
and it turned out their antivirus was quarantining SMAPI but not always in the same spot, complete with each instance having its own mods folder, so they had like 50 copies of SMAPI and none worked correctly
worst case scenario, it is possible to manually install SMAPI! the instructions are in that Readme

well it is meant to be an installer, so you arent really meant to touch those files since the installer would do it for you if it worked

You should use a password manager to make it easy for you

it appears the game no longer saves my custom key binds now that I am playing SVE
every time i quit and reload i have to change all the binds again

@normal wraith uiinfo suite, starblue valley, seasonal villager outfits, yellog's wood buildings ormedieval buildings, gwen's medieval craftables, peachy objects, any daisyniko farm map, industrial furniture, industrial kitchen, mi and magimacita's country furniture, babies take after spouse, ATDVSDV, Canon friendly dialogue expansion, immersive festival dialogue, seasonal fences, seasonal flooring, perks of being married.
those are just some of the mods that i personally use, except for starblue, as i use a different map recolour

sve would add new locations and such, but the only thing would be that bushes and trees and such would be misplaced
