Well, technically the legions of people in comments are saying should (I feel like that should get negative points for not wanting to deal with with them though), and you might get shouldn't pressure from people on the other end (if you have a streak of contrarianism like me it might get positive points like "don't tell me how to feel!" :P ), but otherwise yes no one 😄
The other thing that's difficult that I have been thinking about and kind of concerned with is what about if there is another SVE? I don't really want a total confusing mess of patch pages like in some other games, but at the same time I feel like some things would go more easily if people could and were encouraged to make patches for mods that aren't their own. The pressure to stay compatible with even approved projects just seems like too much work for just the author of any given project to be doing.
As more mods are made and some are big and some are small, it will only be increasingly difficult to attain a state of "everything is always compatible" and possibly fewer people that bother.
( in all honesty ... i never ever had major issues with the npc's .. only small things like a stuck in wall or missing warp :. )

I guess the compatibility alliance of projects like ppja can help draw people to the light side or what not, but I just hate the idea that it could become an either/or thing where you're either with or against. It feels less stressful to just let someone release an npc and have someone that likes it make it compatible with what they want. With how stardew mods work though, that way seems like chaos 😔

Not sure, probably depends on what they are or how. He's responded to a lot of feedback about some things, removed some references or tweaked events or taken stuff out that didn't work right, but on the other hand things that fundamentally change his ideas for SVE would probably be rejected out of hand (like modularity). Not to speak for him or reasons.
(Or including compatibility stuff on the SVE side, he's said multiple times he doesn't want to go down that rabbit hole again)

maybe i am stressing to much over trying to get things to work without crashing ... two quick questions ... if it rains does it effect the lamps by causing them to stau " on " all day ? 2 if not what the heck did i do wrong ? ... this is what tiles i use from the town tileset and the values i put on the day/night tiles and light .. but yea .. they are all on ( if its the rain making them stay on .. .i swear after three hours trying to figure this out .. i will yeet my computer 😦 )

If you need to use a manager, try Moddrop, it has fewer issues
It should be noted, though, that How To Mod stardew is much simpler than some other games
SMAPI handles all the complicated stuff; you just have to download mod, open the .zip or .rar, and take the folder inside out and put it into the Mods folder.
But yeah ModDrop can do things like actually install SMAPI for you

@restive zodiac Separate save using different mods. One vanilla for co-op (we play on the same machine using split screen; https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/2139). The other game solo with Stardew Expanded.
(you can also just rename the folders each time you want to switch, but meh)
If you get used to making different shortcuts for different groups of mods, you can make all kinds of experimental setups for different mods to try and the world will be yours to conquer
Btw. what's the problem with Vortex and SMAPI? Never had an issue.

I think it's a difficult line, because of the similar elements in the base game that are just more veiled. (Anxiety, depression, PTSD, people throwing rocks at Linus, Shane in general, etc). And there's that some people like or even are relieved by those kinds of topics being addressed, either because they are looking for some degree of "realism" or in at least a few cases I've seen, because it's something they've experienced and they appreciate representation or seeing characters work through it. It's pretty hard to do well though, IMO.

I think people are allowed to make whatever they like within the terms and conditions of the hosting site, wren, but people are allowed to give feedback about what they prefer, just like the author chooses how to receive it.
Please don't take any instance of someone giving said feedback as an attack on something you like. You can always give your own feedback to the author, too.

when you install smapi it will put the smapi launcher in the same folder as your stardew valley.exe
you run the smapi.exe to start the game instead

you can put launch setting in that does that so they can get achievements still

I am trying Custom Critters for the first time, but got an error stating outdated, then vaguely remembered seeing something being said before about it being replaced by another mod?
My argument isn't that all of them should be removed. It's that some of them are poorly done and their inclusion do more harm than good. For example ||Haley opens up about being sexually assaulted at a festival|| in one mature event.

Shouldn't need to restart, but make sure you read download instructions when updating any mod (and never hurts to backup saves!)

Red, all saves that are loaded with it will be affected, but none of the changes are committed until you next save.

There is something you can do until the bridge error is fixed on SDVR2's end, which is a HasMod patch that makes Nikolai go to the specific coords of the non-blocked bridge then to the Adventurer's Guild so he doesn't get stuck on a broken bridge
I too have a problem & need advice... it seems my spouse room is becoming unmoored from my house... or something. At first I thought it was because of a stupid error I may have made when playing around with Tiled.
But I have removed the house I was using (Minerva's), Farmhouse Redone, IF2R and changed houses about 3 times... there is still a largish black void (like what surrounds the house interiors) between house and spouse room.

successfully woke up on summer 1
and then i closed the game and attempted to roll back a day so i could properly replay spring 28
i backed up my saves and then deleted my new saves, renamed my "old" saves
and then i reloaded my game and i woke up on summer 1
@weary hill so I logged into moddrop to try and find my mods. I went to my mods page and my mods are just gone? I know I uploaded them before but they're missing now

Inside smapi-internal, there's a folder named i18n that I can't even open, let alone delete. I've tried looking into the permissions but it won't let me. I even tried using the administrator account but that didn't work either.
I can't play. 😭
No advice online is helping either. I've been at this for an hour and I'm going insane.

Are you the administrator of the computer? If so, try changing the permissions on that folder, though I have no idea why they would lock in the first place
This is what happens.
I did have a similar issue earlier when I was modding sims. But that was because my windows account on my pc is through my email which I was having trouble logging into despite having credentials. So what fixed it for me was switching to a computer only account and not through my email. suddenly I had permission to delete the folder I needed to.

microsoft could be having issues with this now for some reason, when I contacted customer support about my email issue they weren't really able to grasp my issue they insisted it was a whole other thing

hello, i'm trying to roll back a day due to some issues so i went into my saves and deleted the files that didn't have the "_old" suffix, and renamed the ones that did
i relaunched the game, and it did not roll back successfully
i checked my saves again and the saves i deleted came back and the saves i renamed re-added their "_old" suffix
It appears Romanceable Rasmodius has somehow affected my spouse dialogue and my spouse is speaking abvout enchantments. Hmm... And that, dear people, is why it is best not to adjust the "MarriageDialogue" file. I"m guessing I missed a day of randomised dialogue?

@outer turret there's a config option in that mod that overrides neutral spouse dialogue regardless of who you marry, just turn it off

Not sure then, the only other thing to do with hair at all is hats don't mess up hair - rather than cherry picking ones to try it may be easier to just temporarily rename your Mods folder to confirm it works without any, then add back Content Patcher and all the packs for it to see if it's there, then remove half of them if it is, etc

Hm, looks like a problem with an event, maybe SVE or Boarding House? I'd try taking out whatever is easiest to remove ( or removing everything and adding things back) to narrow it down.
(Although, I guess the Boarding House and SVE lines may have been the successful ones and it was something after that

I can tell that these are crop fields but where am I supposed to till? Can I till the new grass?

I don't use IF2R or the original IF2 but chances are the property to till the grass was applied to it via the map itself so you shouldn't have to worry

Hey Mayor Lewis, what's with that purple lettuce on the grange display.
Sve will never be recolor friendly because it has a LOT of custom tilesheets. To make it recolor friendly someone would have to redo every single one of them AND keep up with all the updates.

I don't think this is a SVE issue in this case; I've experienced the same thing with Seasonal Villager Outfits recently
For SVE mod itself i need to extract it first before placing it in the mod folder correct?

so long as the save is loaded and you've seen the issue happen you don't have to exit, it doesn't make a difference
hmmm..I'm assuming this save is in winter? The log is showing that winter sprites and portraits are both being applied. But I'm also seeing some HasFile conditions that are stumping me

@potent rivet It's trying to load a 32bit only library on your 64bit machine (or vice versa). Are you getting the game from GOG?
