The error is not with the smapi, the mod doesnt make a config file
that plus having what looked like four versions of SVE installed at once

you upload your log file there and it parses it and lets you do things like see messages that don't make it to the console outside of developer mode smapi, sort by mod, and so on!

yeh the site parses the text file + its associated mod metadata and presents it in a nice readable format

I linked my log here before, about a week or so ago, but things get updated so fast; have to do it all over again ^^;
I admit I copy pasta'd a small snippet having to do with a mod, but only because it was the only mod breaking, so I didn't realize the rest of the log was necessary.
very rarely the snipped is all that's needed but 99% of the time we need the entire log
Yeah, I've been slowly realizing more and more what the logs mean, luckily. So I can understand that more is indeed necessary, just incase things are broken elsewhere.
and if the snippet is all that's needed it's frequently something like "it says it's not loading :( " [snippet is of the smapi installer being ignored for being an installer and not a mod]

My issue had to do with 2 mods from the same person having conflicting item values, or something.
But it couldn't easily be fixed because they use Harmony.

They had a base mod that added new chicken types, and it had a dynamic coding thing for values [only know this because it said so on the nexus page].
But then when I downloaded their additional mod to add quails [which requires their first chicken mod], it said there was issues with conflicting values.

the chicken mod managed to somehow set its own eggs to some invalid item id somehow for me (i installed a new JA pack after installing the chicken mod and this happened), which didn't crash the game because smapi has really good error handling, but it did mean that marnie was selling error items and i had error items in a chest
also the chickens can't be hatched if you have bfav for some reason
lavapulse was going to work on fixing that on bfav's end and then just...vanished
I didn't have the egg issues, nor did I have bfav installed at the time, but I also didn't want to play to far with the mods being incompatible either lol.
And yeah, I've been told they haven't responded to any of their error reports, but didn't wanna throw them under the bus or anything by calling the name out specifically ^^;

My only other issues so far have been the standard accidental double files, and 3 mods that 'need updates'
One I'm told has an issue with the manifest, so nothing I can do about it, and the 2 others are part of a mega pack, but when i update the individual ones that need it, the rest of the pack breaks.

Yeah, specifically the More Food and Artisan Valley Machine Goods
The rest of the pack would break because of duplicate files! you have to go into the mega pack folder and delete PPJA More Food and PPJA Artisan Valley and then install the updates
I did try that, actually, the breaking wasn't due to the duplicates [because I got rid of them] but because things couldn't be pulled for another reason.
Oh it was from quite a few weeks ago, I think even before I joined this server lol.
But if I feel up to it after getting the rest sorted tonight, I can try to replicate the issue.
It was around the same time that 1.4.4/5 came out and SVE was breaking things lol

I just remember getting overwhelmed, getting rid of the entire bundle, redownloaded it, and just resolved to ignore the update whining lol.
and my console text is super long because for some reason spacechase put customize exterior's 'loaded pack...' thing in Debug instead of Trace...and i have approximately every exterior building mod on nexus and chucklefish converted into a Customize Exterior pack.

you do have to tack it to the end of the longer number but it does have to be animal name_number with nothing else

Nope. Tried moving both to external. SMAPI won't go there. 4.75gb of room now and it says there's not enough storage space. Uninstalled, reinstalled. Nothing. Could it be because I'm not using the version of SDV it says to use?

The Android version of the game often has major changes, so SMAPI on Android works best with the version it says it's for. (It's different on Linux/Mac/Windows, where you can always use the latest SMAPI with the latest game update.)

You can also get that to go away by hitting esc. Basically you highlighted stuff so smapi stopped everything to wait for you

Hey gang!
Playing multiplayer, using Get Glam and some Jsons Assets clothing mods. I am not the host. I cannot see the host players (or my own) Get Glam vanity or the Get Glam shoes the host is wearing. I can, however, see the Get Glam hair that they are wearing. Also, when they put on one of the Jsons Assets shirts, it shows me a different shirt than what they are wearing.
No errors in the smapi log, both have the exact same mods installed.
Anyone know any fixes for this or ways to troubleshoot?

We just double checked our files and we do have identical ones.
Is there a possibility that jsons assets loads in things differently depending on what order you installed them in?
For example
If I installed pack A before pack B, but they installed pack B before pack A, would the order of our shirts be out of sync?
In theory no, but the build I just linked sorts things by name just in case that happens

The Get Glam hosiery still is not working (but the Get Glam hair is) but now all of our shirts are in order!
The host can see themselves as well as my sprite when I use the Get Glam hosiery, I can see the hosiery if i put it on myself, but for some reason I cannot see the host when they are wearing the get glam hosiery, it just shows up as vanilla shoes.

That bug is back huh. We had reports of that with KIM

I could just remove the location checks; I think the game removes invalid locations itself now.
That way it'll happen silently so people won't ask about it.

I have the AV from the Mega Pack download.
If I update it and the More Food files, it breaks the rest of the mega pack.

usually it's recommended to get the individual mod packs instead of the mega pack since that is updated less often

@stone cape Delete your current install of CK and try this version. The log posted didn't have any errors to pinpoint the issue. This build is unreleased and the manifest isn't incremented.

2- i don't know what the issue is this time i took the child to NPC folder out of the master folder i'd downloaded, smapi says the file doesn't exist but at the same time says the files aren't a manifest.json ugh.

you need to find the zip file, unzipping it should give you the proper mod folder. also you still seem to have the github download in your mods folder
it's always this issue and i always forget how to zip/unzip something on Mac computers i really hate having a cruddy memory sometimes ugh...

uh ok i downloaded a zip from that mod deleted it and am trying afresh and this is what the page showed
top-right corner is the file for the mod THAT is what got downloaded, and is now in my download folder NOT in my SDV mods folder yet

ChildToNPC-master/ChildToNPC/bin/Debug inside that folder is the zip file (ChildToNPC 1.2.1.zip)
this is what is inside that folder-
so i took the child to npc folder and moved it into my mods folder BEFORE, but apparently that didn't count, as we saw in the smapi log
so what am i supposed to do because when i right-click i don't get a "take out zip files" option the closest i get is to compress something which makes the icon turn from a folder into what resembles a floppy-disc and gets labeled as a zip file, when all my mods are folders instead.

ok so child to npc 1.2.1 i just move into the child to npc folder? not the master one and move that into my mods? I dunno
as long as you unzip the folder in any other folder than the master folder it should be fine. unzipping it should give you a ChildToNPC folder and that is the folder you need to get into the Mods folder
(you shouldn't do anything with the ChildToNPC folder that is in the screenshot)
ok i forgot i have a program that unzips things. so i unzipped the 1.2.1 CtNPC into my desktop, then moved it into the mods folder replacing the one that was there
so it should work fine now supposedly right? I did it right?

yes, that means the missing files should be back and you can try again
@inner geyser as with any issues, reset your content files and see if that fixes the issues if you use XNBs. Otherwise, no, Pathos just usually needs a copy of your mods folder (ideally as small as you can get it and reliably reproduce the issue) and the affected save(s) to test it. You can zip the folder and upload here if it's under 100mb or to something like dropbox/googledrive/etc otherwise. If you don't want to share it here, DM Pathos/me with it (if Pathos, explain the issue and reference the convo we had)

Hi folks, very nice people were alble to help me with a problem earlier with Artisan Valley duplicating machines. I removed CFR artisan valley as instructed and it fixed the problem but also threw an error with PYTK
Firstly you need to update a lot of mods. Secondly, I hope you haven't saved, because you need the producer converted mod!

So... kinda want to ask about opinons about SVE since I saw a rant about it being too big(?)

there's nothing wrong with SVE in itself, it's just stepped on a couple people's toes in certain areas. the mod itself is fine and if you enjoy it, then feel free to enjoy it. the only issue people have with it is that it tries to be an all-in-one style mod and that a lot of other modders feel pressured to fix their mods to be compatible with it even when the issues are on SVE's end, but saying someone isn't compatible with SVE is a surefire way to get people to ignore your mod most of the time. :T
I know that feeling, especially since I've been in a couple of modding scenes before
but the mod itself isn't an issue. it's fun and i like a lot of what it does and some of the npcs it adds.
The thing I feel is that if a mod tries to do everything and other mods are suffering, either other mods have to patch like literally every 5 minutes or it gets dropped
BetterThanWolves in Minecraft is a pretty big example
the complicated installation can be annoying too bc it used to result in people asking for help specifically for it about 3 times a day. i know some modders have just... decided to stop being compatible with it because they got annoyed with SVE issues having to be fixed on their end bc it was causing compatibility issues.
but, yeah, SVE itself isn't a bad mod or anything. I really like Olivia...

flash makes new tilesheets with like, new patches of grass or new fences or whatever--to make it work with a recolor, someone would have to manually go into that png and make it match the recolor

you can still use recolors that aren't compatible with SVE, you'll just have mostly nice looking brown dirt and then random patches of bright vanilla yellow

also re SVE--there are other mods that give you more harvest moon style stuff and the Magick mod i'm on the team for rn is gonna be bringing a lot of that! you could try weather illnesses and the rival events mods, there's mal's rival events, sam/sebastian rival events, and maru/penny rival events

oh may I suggest a mod, there is a mod called Dark UI that is amaze for making a your UI a gorgeous dark mode, you can use the seasonal dark hues or just select a colour, I use magenta, it's gorgeous.

moddrop only works on windows for that and you can have up to three afaik
So I guess with that done, any HM like mods
Vortex also allows different profiles, works great with SVE
Super easy just select which profile and takes moments to deploy the mods.. works well with manual installation of mods too. Only case I've needed to do manually tho were Skin packs for adopt n skin. Works with that big JSON assets mod too (can't remember the name) even though it says not to use Vortex, Vortex must have updated since then cause it installs those packs fine.
I'm running SDR2 with the town map on KIM and some of my trees are overlaying badly (ie double trees, 2 colors). Is it a mod clash? Should I just stick to town central being SDR2 too? I havent done terrain reset yet on that map actually so I might do that today.
Anyone seen that custom shop mod released recently? I can't find it now o_o.. it allows you to easily add any item to a shop or make your own shop? And I believe there was a clothing shop released along side it. I need clothing - most the other clothing mods seem no longer compatible with this new clothing = items thing

Hi, I had a serious issue with PFM Automate that caused my game to not save, and I had to force close it. I haven't tried again, but this is the error log:

if not, you can either roll back the save a day, edit it out of your save, or get carry chest and throw the whole thing in a river

just, very very very rarely, custom honey saving fails silently one night and then the ensuring garbage honey causes saving to fail totally the next night

Yeh I looked! It's easy enough to make NPC files work but there's a dll and I don't know what that does.
its definitely not on honey creation because i've had custom honey that was in a chest for a long time break once
(only time i've had honey bug, and also why i have carry chest)
yeah, for some reason the honey bug tends to happen more often in multiplayer too
i've also had a couple times where a vegetable mysteriously produced honey
the persia the mermaid mod looks like it may have an unofficial update, it just wouldn't be linked on the compat page--try taking a look through the updating mods for 1.4 and updating mods for content patcher threads

it is the actual honey yup, and we were being literal about throwing it in the river
that's the only way to get rid of a chest
find the nearest body of water and chuck it out of your inventory, like you would if you wanted to pick something up in the mines and had some sap or something you could get rid of and pick up later

the general idea of what happens is that the game can't figure out what the prefix is supposed to be for the honey because for whatever reason it's forgotten the JA flower that made it, so it freaks out and either can't name the honey or tells you that the name of it is wrong

a lot of new NPC mods are incompatible with SVE at this point because it just changes so much
i highly recommend fellowclown's npcs, lyell, john and nikolai--nikolai at least isn't compatible with SVE anymore bc its town map makes him bug out
stuff that adds new dialogue and events for existing NPCs should be okay though, it's just modifying NPC schedules that SVE will mess up
(and Mr. Ginger. I believe he's compatible)
Events might bug if they expect vanilla maps or close-to-vanilla maps; SVE has to modify vanilla maps to accommodate its map changes
Honestly I'd like a non-SVE bigger townier town mod, possibly with an additional Town East that was actually more town and not just. A bridge
for the events i think noclip mode should at least get you through them if you get stuck
I'd like Town East to be another village, perhaps filled with abandoned houses to explore or turn into new NPC houses

Yep! For SDV, it only needs to be in your mods folder.

To update SMAPI - just download the new version and install over the old version?
Download it, unzip it OUTSIDE your mods folder and click the program. It will give you 2 options 1 install 2 uninstall and installing will uninstall earlier versions. It really is very use friendly.

If you've the patience to, I'd actually appreciate if you [or another modder] could rubber duck explain to me the difference between the functionality of Content Patcher and Json Assets, so I know clearly why some mods would have the versions separate or included together.

Ah, so CP 'overwrites' the existing files without getting rid of them, while Json makes the list of items say go from 10 types of trees to 15?

Also was having an odd incident with the map where it was displaying two faces of some characters, though I'm unsure if it's intended as a 'this is where Sandy is and this is where Sandy lives' situation, or an issue with some mod overlay that isn't reading as an error.

Known thing when you have both NPCMapLocations and UI Info Suite; you can disable UI Info's NPC tracking in its config (which you can access from the little hammer icon in the pause menu) in favor of NPC Map Locations (NPC Map Locations tracks the NPC's actual location, instead of just what portion of the map they're on, which is what UI Info's does)

Yep, but SMAPI and Virtual Keyboard don't do much on their own. You need to add mods to do what you want (e.g. P is usually CJB Cheats Menu).

@tawny garden Well, I'm assuming, that you're using Stardew Valley with Steam.. and you've configured the launch options properly, as instructed in the SMAPI install docs... and it's starting up with SMAPI, and shows you the "mod folder location" in the console when you start SDV?

If all is good so far, then you know where to put the mod... it's a folder like "C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\Mods" (or something similar).
