Wren: level up to 10 in a skill, sleep if it's your first time. After that, open the little prestige menu from the skills page, and click prestige to get a point. You can keep the points for exp bonuses or spend them on a perk right away

No. You have to use the menu to get points; the sleeping is only so you get the level up notif before your first prestige

Also if this shows up before loading a save you're looking at the preliminary loading which occurs before JA
it does a second loading pass on day start, which properly sets JA items and also updates animal produce if their listed produce in the content pack differs from the produce they're actually making

When I try to add music using custom music, when I test it in SMAPI, it gets a infinite loop of errors. the example songs work fine.

I'm trying to join a Multiplayer server with my friend
Her boyfriend was abe to join with no problem.
We both have the same version of the game and SMAPI
Every time I enter the join code she sends me, I get an error message saying
"Connection Failed (mismatched version)"

get rid of the PPJA Mega Pack folder, that should fix the skipped mods
PPJA adds a lot of items/crops/machines, which show up as error items at best if you try to join a game that has PPJA when you don't
and at worst, crashes or version mismatch connection failures
you also have a greenhouse mod that she doesn't which will cause issues, but it's less urgent than the other stuff

The other friend joined as well but they had no mods, and were able to join. SO I'm confused because it's still saying Mismatched version

buuut, in advanced keybindings fridge was set to NULL
so it was prob sent to void

if they don't have SMAPI their game probably doesn't even notice that you have all these mods that they don't that will cause errors if not synced
my theory is that JA doesn't fully sync until you load in all the way, which usually doesn't cause too many issues, but with honey the game freaks the fuck out if it doesn't know the name of the flower it was made from (because it hasn't synced it yet) and locks you out
That's not what I'm talking about though. They were able to join the game perfectly fine and play for hours without issue.
We had a multiplayer game a couple weeks ago and it worked perfectly fine even though we had different mods. I'm just...confused. Same situation, different mods, one person without mods and it worked fine

do note that you need the same number of A&S skins for any animals you have, with the same numbering, but it's OK if the skins themselves are different
i've been beta testing some fixes for it but it is..... terrifying and somehow keeps getting worse

Sync your mod lists
yeah there really wasn't much more to be said there, just because that person hasn't had an issue yet doesn't mean much because the second the host buys or spawns a custom item they'll crash out or get glitched items
I know it's not the best idea but I literally just read off my list of my mods while gf read off her list
whatever one i was missing i sent to her
err whatever i was missing she sent to me
and vice versa
@ruby leaf We gave instructions. Sync your mod lists to avoid crashing. If the issue persists after ensuring everyone has the same modlist and all the mods are correctly installed then get a new log.

the easiest way i've found to do that is actually through github--it takes some setting up but it makes it very easy to sync
do the file counts and folder counts need to be the same?

and copy it to the other
then i realized missing mods problems
smalls, that sounds like it should work so long as you copy the entire mods folder to all computers involved
but what if i delete the mods on the host computer, and copy farmhand mods, and it's missing some of my host mods

if the result is removing eg a custom location mod it'll be like removing a custom location mod in singleplayer
I just shared both mods folders on the network
so we can install mods across both of us
and then I made a batch file to install to both, any zip file in my DL folder
sometimes that goes poorly
like PPJA

SMAPI's folder depth limit is determined by filepath size, so you can nest folders deeply if they have short names
so my batch file auto unzip, copy and reeplace, then delete zip .bat
would have been fine all along

even made her a batch file that auto pulls her save over the network, so she can play her single player file on either PC at any time
it auto copies from other PC's save and replaces on current PC that ran the .bat
made my own save backup batch too haha
went nuts with it
but if you have those folders with the incredibly long names full of numbers, with long-named folders inside those, and put them in long-named categorization folders, then your longest-named mods might fail to load
oh you might want 2 batch folders for mod updates!
some mods, like PPJA and SVE, are a "delete old folders then install new", but others are just "overwrite"
i have it drop the zip contents into a separate folder

@trail lotus SMAPI, which is needed for mods, works on Mac and Windows and will probably work on Bootcamp
but if it doesn't you can always install Stardew on the actual Mac and then install Mac SMAPI

Once you've run the installer, it will show something like "Done installing SMAPI! If you use Steam, you will need to set your launch options to this:" and then have a line including the full filepath to your SMAPI.exe
Copy that entire line, including the quotation marks and the stuff at the end, and go to Steam and right-click Stardew Valley.
then click on Properties, then Set Launch Options, and paste the thing

Go to a site like Nexus, Moddrop, or Chucklefish, find a mod you like, and click the Download button. Take the mod out of the zip folder it was in, then go to your game folder (eg by rightclicking on it in Steam and going Manage -> Browse Local Files) and, after you have installed SMAPI and ran SMAPI at least once, there will be a Mods folder.
Your mods go in there.

Most mods have at least one dependency, aka a mod they need; these are mostly shared frameworks each with a very large number of mods relying on them. For example, anything that changes the look of things or dialogue or some types of data will need Content Patcher, anything that adds items needs Json Assets, anything that adds recipes to machines (including JsonAssets added machines) needs Producer Framework Mod, and so on. Nexus lists dependencies under the first section of Requirements; the second section of Requirements is mods that depend upon the mod you're downloading.

People go 0_0 at her mod list and she does things like just kick a log over to PathosChild every game update and that's a significant amount of the post-game-update mod compatibility checking
also a couple big tips if you're starting out--if anything hasn't been updated since before november 26, 2019, skip it and check the compatibility list instead

yeah that's the thing i've noticed too, with location fuckups you'll sometimes get just. completely random mods or 10 different mods freaking out at you

Get Glam packs need Get Glam and then you use the in-game mirror or Customize Anywhere or the Shrine of Illusion to change the farmer; also all players in Multiplayer need the Get Glam packs

Angel of Death Sundrop is a whole new area. It is in beta atm so not fully released. It is designed as a separate area linked by a warp so that it will be compatible with (almost) everything. It should work with SVE just fine.

there is something in the comment sections about using other mods to warp to the area
We put SVE compat at the bottom of our list, because the author changes things too much for us to keep up with. You can use SMAPI's debug warping to get to Sundrop in the meantime

Creating a new save file only seemed to fix it, but after I played a bit I went to sleep and it gave me the same crash again, and it crashed every time I tried to sleep, even if I didnt do anything. However, I have looked through the log and did some testing, and I believe there is something wrong with SVE, because it seems to work fine without it and there is a weird message in the log about SVE not finding something. Should I just remove SVE? I just started playing, so creating a new character is only kinda annoying, I dont lose a lot of playtime
I'm not familiar with SVE problems (the new ones) and I have a hard time getting through the Spanish!

You have duplicate files of all of the required mods + SVE itself. So yeah, remove it all and start over

Alright, so I changed all the mods I had on that list to CP, verified the game files (I had a few that needed to be reset btw) and I tried on my save file. It doesnt work, but I tried again with a new save file and that seems to not crash. hopefully it stays that way

Huh, yeah, not sure what's going on there though. You can try taking half of your mods out and testing again, repeating until you find the culprit (aka the 50/50 method)

Would anyone be able to help me understand the issue Iโm having with a mod? I am using Trentโs new animal mod There are no red warnings that pop up in my SMAPI and everything is up to date, but whenever I load into the game and check to make sure itโs working.. I can see the animals just fine but not their products.. and I canโt seem to figure out the problem. Iโve even removed and installed the mod more then once to see if that would help with no luck. (I donโt have any type of a log to provide. As no errors pop up in SMAPI.. itโs just the products show up invisible in game.)

heather, could you try removing ItemBags and see if it still happens? maybe also try removing your CP Cuter Animals mod in case that's doing some weird loads and overwriting something

I have a likely newbie question. I've installed mods for the first time and I'm getting the error that certain mods are located in multiple folders. How do I go about fixing this so the mods load?
Just delete the duplicate folders

you can also use Customize Anywhere, they're compatible so you can use both! CA lets you pull up the starting customization menu, tailoring menu, and dye menu and has an item where you can get all clothes from a dresser including JA ones

I've been having somewhat of an issue with Trents new animals mod, namely that though I have the required files downloaded, and all of the required ones are updated, the mod doesn't seem to be doing anything (all vanilla animals, no new ones). Was there an instal instruction I missed? Didn't see anything more than place in mods folder on nexus

However, we have a lot of safeguards in place to prevent that

I did not download artisan valley twice however I thought since it said in installation guide to download two version file types of artisan valley.

ok kids, a mod-user on Mac is trying to get their mods to work. And they have the mods in the right place, they have the latest smapi and mono, but the only mods showing up inSMAPI are the default "Console" "saves" one
