I got SVE today and I have two saves, one before the mod (completely vanilla) and one I made to play with mods. If I go on the vanilla one, are the mods gonna overwrite the data from the vanilla stuff and change it? Should I pull the mods out of the folder and play then put the mods back in when Iโm done?
Yeah, I wouldn't use your Vanilla save with a mod that large.
Best to make a backup.

Looks like something that edits the town is calling a tilesheet from the wrong place.
It's looking in content, not content/maps
Did you remember to delete and reinstall your SVE when updating it?
I think the latest SMAPI update stopped handing mods tilesheets from Content/Maps when they request tilesheets from just Content

I'm having the problem still too corrin, just came back to report actually that after removing everything but the framework mods (which I tested separately) and all the PPJA mods, I'm still getting Shane and Pam going into the Joja void.

I'd guess it's not TMX alone actually. I was ruling out mods for a while, and Mermaid Island and Hot Cocoa Shop both use TMX, but neither of them caused the bug to happen.
mermaid island doesn't patch town
so I dont think it would be relevant to that part
cocoa shop is more suspicious but if its not causing that issue may be because its indoors
rather than patching Town
so far it looks to me as though the transition from Town into houses is somehow messing things up
from the info i've found about this bug, it's vanilla to start (because joja and lewis house both have two-tile-wide doors) but gets worse if something patches town
but what caused it to recently flare up I wonder
Well, another thing I found actually is I had more than one mod causing the trouble. CustomNPCFixes also on its own turned out to cause it to happen in my game. And that one's required for Babysitter, which is pretty new.

I did! It was only CustomNPCFixes and a handful of other framework mods I'd already eliminated at that point.

I finally figured out my problem from the other day
I'm apparently getting stack overflows when putting too many pfm machines onto my farm (and perhaps other places?)
doesn't really explain why it only happens when entering my cellar however

I dont think its only FV though it does sound like town edits in general may be the culprit, though I still don't know what about it causes void
KRS only patches the ice cream stand, which is irrelevant to indoors... FV has a FV doors option that may be to blame, but doesnt explain why KRS would be an issue

@turbid lion Complicated in what way? You can install JSON Assets and any pack for it in the mods folder, just like any other mod!
@dire fractal It's hard to say without knowing the reason for the lag - you could try world_clear farm debris and world_clear farm grass in the SMAPI console and see if it improves - sometimes a lot of grass for example on a large map can cause issues. Or it could just be the amount or type of other mods you have installed, like if you are also using SVE, maybe the amount of maps or the size of some of them are causing it, in which case you could try temporarily disabling some of them to see if that helps.
Complicated as in, mod doesn't need anything besides SMAPI to work.
JA packs just need JA and SMAPI. The problem with adding crops without something like JA is that they would be very likely to conflict with everything else, since JA does dynamic ID handling to shuffle things around.
And JA needs Spacecore
(Oh right, they need spacecore now as well, since JA broke the limit on how many things could be added)
Yep, previously you could only add as many as would fit on the max size of tilesheets.
getting mods you want is hard, esp. if you can't make them(for whatever reason) :/

like, i have a list of crops i want to add, but i don't want to have to get a dozen other mods that will each omly add a few of what i want at a time, and also possibly don't work with each other
or don't work at all now(because of game updates or whatever)
JA mods should work with each other and still work as long as JA works, it's one of the benefits of using a framework like that. Older ones may not use some features that were added later, but they should still work at least. And the very oldest that ask you to install into the JA folder instead of Mods probably have unofficial updates from the PPJA people. (If they happen to add some items that share the same name, it will tell you and you can just edit it to give one a different name.)
I agree that if you just have a dozen specific crops you want to add, then it is a pain to search out different mods that may add them or pick them out of a megapack like PPJA, but if you just want a lot of content, PPJA will cover a ton of stuff and you don't necessarily need each module of it, either.
Like you could just use Fruits and Veggies + some other smaller packs around.

@twilit sapphire You still have some updates to do at the top there! I'd prioritize the frameworks like Content Patcher, Get Glam, and Farm Type Manager, but the first thing to do when having troubles is update everything you can :) You'll also need to remove the Grampleton Fields pack, as it needs a small map edit to work after a recent SMAPI/PyTK update but is no longer supported by the author.
(Or you can take a crack at fixing it if you don't mind getting set up with Tiled to edit maps.)
(Although, that particular error is for the _extras tilesheets, and not the vanilla ones like in a different error for it I saw, so you could try just copying those from the SVE folder into the Grampleton assets folder to see if it loads. But at the moment it prevents everything else TMXL related from working.)

although, I did uninstall Grampleton Fields yet I get this line in console - [SMAPI] Removed invalid location 'GrampletonFields' to avoid a crash when loading save 'Mattzio_228135417'. (Did you remove a custom location mod?) and [Producer Framework Mod] The custom name 'Ground {inputName}' is already in use for the object with the index '2683'. The custom name '{inputName} Moรญdo(a)' will be ignored. 
The Grampleton line is SMAPI telling you that you used to have a custom location installed called Grampleton Fields, but you don't now, so SMAPI snipped it out of your save so the game wouldn't crash. In 1.4+ custom locations would crash the game after removing until you edit them out of the save file (just like custom NPCs already did), but SMAPI 3.0+ just looks for that happening and fixes it itself 
It should only happen once, since SMAPI will have cleared it from your save after.

Any good mods out there for making the dirt less... well... Less 'piss yellow' and more 'dirt colored'?
There are several recolors out there, so which one is best will just be to taste. eemie's, Daisy's, starblue, Ace's, Foliage Redone all come to mind

Hi! I'm trying to update SVE from 1.9.3 to 1.9.4, do I have to go through my mods folder and delete all the old files associated with SVE and then reinstall? Or is there another way to do this?

@potent pulsar A clean install like that is safest (back up any config files you don't want to redo), but it's usually okay to install in-place and overwrite old, too. The mod page will usually tell you when you have to do otherwise.
I usually just overwrite unless something tells me not to, and then if I have a problem I delete it completely and reinstall to make sure it's not some weird leftover thing happening.

There are a lot of mods to choose from as long as they don't overwrite the same maps, yeah. Since SVE adds a lot of content, I feel like the PPJA mods would cover all the crops/machines and such angle !

I don't think there are any that add an additional upgrade level right now, but there are several bigger shed maps on the Nexus that you could just change the target of, in order to replace Shed2 instead of just Shed!

In most cases yeah - basically the content packs should always at least load, but if they haven't been updated in a very long time, they may cause issues in game if they completely replaced game assets which have since changed, if that makes any sense. https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Migrate_to_Stardew_Valley_1.4#Update_impact has a list of all the assets XNB mods would break, which also applies to old CP mods that use Load to replace the whole file instead of editing just a part of it.
So, if it's been updated recently, probably good on all counts! If it's old, it may still be fine, just consider what has changed about that asset in all that time. Like a portrait mod from '17 won't have all the portraits that have been added since then.

Are you sure you aren't looking at the internal folder inside the installer folder? There are dat files there.

So you can move that entire folder (and its subfolders and so on) out of the zip if it's not already, and then run install on Windows from that folder.

So, when you download the file from https://smapi.io, it comes as a zip file, but it automatically opens without doing anything special when you open it direct or double click it in a folder, so it may not look like it. When you see a folder called SMAPI 3.2.0 installer, drag that somewhere like your desktop, or downloads folder, or anywhere really except the game folder.

Okay! Now you can open the folder you dragged somewhere, and inside it there should be a file called install on Windows (not in the internal folder, just sitting in the installer folder)
If you double click that (it's a bat file, but it looks like you have extensions hidden), it should start the SMAPI installer!
Did the installer run and say SMAPI was installed?

SMAPI is installed then, and you can start installing mods! If you want to be able to start SMAPI from Steam (assuming you're even using Steam), you'll need to edit your launch options to tell it to do that, though. hey I know prismatic tools is pretty old and outdated and only has unofficial updates at this point which are a few months old now, but it still gets frequently downloaded from what I can tell, this isnโt really a big deal, but the prismatic watering can kind of conflicts with the fishing rod sprite and it makes the animations super buggy in-game. this might even be known it just really bothers me lol. (Iโm using pathos/Seawolves unofficial update) sorry for a kind of useless thing to report on...
for sve, can all the additional mods i need (other than like smapi) just go into the mods folder?

ATDSV, Earthy Recolor, the mailbox recolor, recolors like that may or may not have one, and they would be fine. Just wondering if there are any maps including it.

Oh, could you try just renaming your entire Mods folder to anything but Mods and see if you still have the issue? If so, we can just do a reset. If not, we'll have to narrow it down a bit more :P
Darn :P Okay, what if you just rename the PyTK folder to ..PyTK ? It will disable a ton of things, including all of SVE, but should rule out all the other CP packs and SMAPI mods and such at least.

I'm trying to avoid downloading all of SVE because it would take forever on my internet, haha. What if you put PyTK back to normal, but temporarily remove [CP] Stardew Valley Expanded/assets/Town/Town-Theater.tbin ? CP will throw an error about not finding it, but other things should go back to working.
I'm not sure how that map could even try to look for a tilesheet in Content, that's weird.
(since it uses Content Patcher to load the map, I mean)

Hello, I'm new to modding SDV, and I found two hair styles mods I wanted to use. On one of them the author said they left hair bald after a certain point so people could use other mods. And that's what I would like to know, how could I use multiple hair mods?
Sounds like they expected you to merge the PNGs; these days you can install multiple Get Glam packs

you install Get Glam packs like how you install Content Patcher packs, but unlike with Content Patcher Get Glam can handle basically any number of packs that add farmer hairs, shoes, skintones, faces, accessories, or bases
Alright I understand the basics of the mod. How would I find the packs?
Right now there's not that many, GG is new and while all relevant CP hair packs have been converted and sent to the authors they're mostly not being uploaded, but I think they all list GG as a requirement so you can look on Get Glam's Nexus page under Requirements and then look under "mods requiring this file"

They'll probably work like that, but the "real" mod folder is inside those folders.
This section https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Player_Guide/Getting_Started#Install_mods has an example of what the Mods folder should look like. SMAPI can read subfolders though (at least on PC...), so it will probably be fine. It just makes it a pain to update.

It's possible that the KRS association was a coincidence, and it was just some combination of mods that nudged someone's path into picking the right door instead of the left.

Flash was adding that NPC guy in the forest and he was joja voiding on his schedule, but when I went to test it I didn't want to walk with him 50 miles every morning trying to reproduce it, so I edited the schedule to move him closer, which made the problem go away

I... doubt that the KRS thing was a coincidence just because by the end I was testing with only the PPJA mods and framework mods. Could still be the case, but it still stopped happening when I removed the mod

I ended up not being able to reproduce it unless he started in his house, and had to just park in front of him in each area to speed him up to test over and over again. I finally had to send the problem to Moo to investigate :P
@tepid blade I don't have the game on Android, so I'm not very familiar with Android modding. I know people are waiting on a SMAPI update for it, but I don't know what state the current release is right now. Similarly I know space was working on a spacecore version that worked, but the last file in this channel still broke for people, so I don't know what the latest is.
@spark jackal Do you happen to have a log from when you had narrowed it down to KRS? We could try grabbing the same mods at least to see if it's something that might haunt Hadi in the future or just some freakish "fall 3 at 3pm after walking beside a pink tree" thing that probably won't come up in a KRS specific way again

BFAV 3.0 uses a content pack format, no config editing required.
yes I have tried to verify game files, just re-ran it and opened without mods, problem dissappeared. With mods, problem is back. I suppose it's time to simply sort through and find the culprit then
problem solved: it was a content replacer for craftables that I tried to edit ^^ turns out my edits made some things invisible

1.1`` Farm Type Manager mod, standard config for MonsterLimitPerLocation is null, this caused lag for Android, change null to number to limit it, 0 is minimum, over 600 can cause lag, change to 10 should be ok.
This is why i lag but uhh where do i find these commands to change the monster thingy

Also, SVE contains two incredibly large maps that strain Stardew Valley's current map framework. FlashShifter is shrinking them a little in the next update, but in the meantime SVE is disproportionately likely to lag on mobile.

Can Automate pull truffles from Junimo Huts? I have Better Junimos set to harvest forage, and they harvest truffles for me. I tried to connect the huts to oil makers with paths, and they're not processing

@glass echo I've seen a couple people do it and can get a handle in a few, but it just doesn't seem at all worth it if you haven't already modded it for different reasons. So, I have successfully modded the game with all the mods that I think are cool. There is no longer any red in my startup log (other than non smapi mod warnings). The problem I have is that my inventory trash can has seemed to have disappeared. I'm hoping to avoid manual uninstallation and reinstallation of mods. Does anyone know what mod might have been the culprit here?

Yo @wind elm what changes were made in Visualize? I had really wanted to try it, since NVidia's shaders don't support SMAPI, but I was running into crashes the last time I tried it (back in November)
(I tested it on Windows yesterday and it worked fine. I haven't got a chance to test it at home, yet.)
(Though the first time I tried it, the actual profile change took a minute to take effect, like I had to open and close menus and then suddenly it was working.)
(Oh, but the version on Nexus crashed for me on NexusLinux and the test build worked for me on Windows, so maybe that version is still iffy

@bright ocean I'm about to download your toned down mod, and it says that it doesn't color terrain or anything like that outside...do you have a recommendation of a mod that does that would go well with yours?
It was originally made to work with Eemie's Just A New Recolor (also maintained by me). My personal favorite recolor right now is Ace's A Wittily Named Recolor though!

@bright ocean sorry to bother you again, but just to be sure i understand. the settings for toned down are defaulted to false for interior, furniture, bushes and hoe dirt. so if i want those things i have to enable yes, correct? also if i enable your mod for my farmhouse furniture, and also have a seperate mod for farmhouse furniture, will those two conflict?

Crimson, I uh, can't remember the config at the moment. Migraine :/ I think the Interior config is InteriorOnly - false would be interior and the small exterior changes to the houses, etc
And the furniture depends on how they edit the sheet

Can anyone help me? My trash icon is missing and I don't know where the icon is located in the original game files or what mod might overwrite it..

Anything that Loads cursors.xnb and doesn't include the trashcan, as well as XNB replacers for Cursors, makes the trashcan invisible
Anyway I could get an updated version of it from someone? I dunno what rebuilding it through steam would do to my mods
@worthy moth can't remember if i let you know about this, but our MP game tested the previous mega storage beta (haven't tried the most recent update yet) and it worked briefly but then all our chests went back to vanilla the next day
they had only been doing that for farmhands before but the host had it this time too

If you're on Mac you'll have to reinstall SMAPI because resetting your content folders on a Mac partially uninstalls SMAPI, but your saves and Mods folder remain untouched

Plus they use a lot of XNB replacements on Naver
it's hard to join, locks you out easy, and uses mostly the pretty much depreciated XNB replacer mod format

so, I'm having an issue with Neptunite not showing up in my collections tab? I've shipped it before, it's definitely in the museum, I've gotten more of it since I noticed and it doesn't say the 'Gunther can tell you more (...)' text either. I know I've turned in new artifacts since then and those weren't an issue, it's just this one thing and I don't know how to fix it. here's the SMAPI log:
