I think it's time for SMAPI to uncompress zips
it's an understandable mistake, I know that the Celeste modloader can read zipped folders
or read through it

XNB mods often break the game and are not recommended. Well, caveat. I've seen xnb files in content patcher mods, but CP mods go in your "Mods" folder, rather than replacing a file in your "Content" folder.
So it's much less likely to break your game and much easier to remove if there's a problem or you change your mind.
okay! the horse replacement mod isn't an xnb one then, it just must be old ๐ ill try and find a different one
Yeah, it's possible for even SMAPI mods to make use of the xnb file format (or for a SMAPI mod to completely overwrite a file it only really needed to make a smol edit to), but when people talk about "xnb mods" they're almost always talking about overwriting game files.
Depending on which horse mod it was, it may have the actual mods inside it that you're meant to pick from or something, too.

So you should have just one folder in your Mods folder that'll say "Elle's Horse Replacement [Breed]"

So go into your mods folder and actually pull that folder out to your desktop or whatever.

Open it up, and you should see a whole list of other folders that all say "Elle's Horse Replacement [Breed]"
You pick your favorite of those, and put that one back in your Mods folder
And I actually use Adopt'n'Skin which is a whole different can of worms, lol.

Take that bunch of numbers folder out and just put the [CP] folder right into your Mods folder. It should work!

@violet orbit what do you mean? like remove and replace them/move? you can do that by talking to robin, if you mean like getting different looks you need either a XNB mod (not recommended) or getting SMAPI and using CP

Is there any specific mods ya'll recommend to extend the day a little bit? I like having all the time to do what I want and then just go to sleep when I'm done with everything.

Iโve been a freak about Stardew mobile ever sense my brother and I discovered it a year back, I just got the recent update u guys released and I was looking around YT and discovered there is Mods for the mobile version.. I had looked before but everyone said there would be no mods, I gave up and now here I am again., recently I got a laptop and attempted to put mods on my Stardew valley, but sense Iโm more used to an iPad I found that frustrating, looking around at 2 vids I found on the mod thing for mobile then the official Stardew website, they all said about the android version...

@lapis void I'm pretty sure those are fixed in the beta, but some of the other issues won't be fixed until I've got this next feature release ready. I'm redoing the whole menu system so that it plays nicer with other mods, and it supports window resizing.

so with beta mega storage farmhands can see only magic chest, with official release we can see only large chests but not their full capacity and get red text and crashes
So, after a lot of troubleshooting, I've discovered that my modlist had at least two mods that cause NPCs entering the JojaMart to walk straight forward through the back wall and into oblivion, and I've been wondering if this is a particularly common error, to be present twice over in my modlist?
Like, I'd never seen or heard of this one before, so I'm pretty surprised, lol.

@worthy moth we saved the day and reloaded our game and now farmhands are seeing all the chests but with only vanilla capacity
(previous cases of joja void were not really any specific mod, but a quirk of npc pathfinding making them pick a right door for warp, but take a path that led through the left door which warped them and left them confused about how to continue, so they just walked for all eternity. In Karm's + SVE it was fixed by just putting stone tile under one of the doors to adjust preferred path)
(that's not to say it is same thing, just offering for context of previous wtfs)

Anything that adds additional route potential makes npcs ????? yeah, because they just check through what warps exist on the map and not if they are actually accessible I think, which does sometimes sort of complicate some shortcuts or npc plans...

Hmm, none of my mods add anything new to route around, or shortcuts or paths. There are a couple that edit NPC schedules a bit, like the hot chocolate shop (though that's not at the Joja and not in spring, so ๐คท )
I'll have to double-check them later tonight though to make sure they're not causing it. I last checked them when I thought it was just one mod's fault, so giving them a pass may not have been accurate

It's something that could theoretically happen in vanilla even, because that particular problem wasn't because of a map issue, it was just weird npc pathfinding choosing a stupid route, so schedule nudges could possibly affect that
You could see if it was same thing by doing a smol map edit and just deleting one of the door actions I guess, or also trying the stone tile under it to make preference

Don't know how to go about editing it, unfortunately I'm not a modder. How does the stone tile thing work though? That sounds like something I could try
@lapis void Maybe I misunderstood how MG works, can you place individual grass types or is it that you place regular grass and the sprite is chosen from all the ones you have installed?
I think that could be fixed in vanilla by having any warp other than one on the penultimate tile of the path not actually warp the NPC, or something.

oh, idk if this is helpful but the weirdness was happening for me on the beach with nikolai installed--he does a map edit and a map property edit for warps. i tried putting the edited portion of the map and the warps into SVR2's beach map and loading that and the schedules got un-weird

i just updated BFAV Bulls but it says i still need to ... i know how to change the manifest version manually .. but not sure which one to change
@distant pawn your issue is climates of ferngill. uninstall it and reinstall the latest version.
I'd recommend using nexus, makes things a little easier
and you can't accidentally screw it up, so stability is effectively boosted

IIRC any mod that requires Harmony, which isn't a mod in and of itself, will need some... changes before they can be Android compatible

Yeah, that's mainly for PC/Mac/Linux. Harmony mods are a known Android issue at the moment and I'm sure that MartyrPher, the Android SMAPI maintainer, is working on ways to get those mods working for Android as well

(Disclaimer: I do not mod SDV on Android as I do not have SDV on Android, so this is just what I remember hearing - if things have changed then Martyr or someone else more involved with that scene could answer that question far better than I)
what are harmony mods?
Harmony is a suite of tools that allow for game code to be rewritten in ways that simple SMAPI mods wouldn't be able to do
Climates of Ferngill, for instance, rewrites some of the weather logic so it can do its things
SpaceCore is another one, and I think the main Harmony thing there is the breaking of the spritesheet limits (normal XNA limits spritesheets to 4096*4096 pixels, which in turn originally meant a limit of crops and fruit trees in JsonAssets)
That limit has since been broken, but with the trade-off of now requiring SpaceCore (instead of it being optional and only if you wanted Winter crops outside of the winter forage seeds)
I think I have read that, harmony not working/supported on Android, also. I just did not know that Climates of ferngill required it as it's not stated (or I missed it) on the Nexus page.
If you mean it's not stated that CoF requires Harmony, that's because it's not something that the end-user is expected to download

(And into SMAPI, at least on PC)
That's what I meant and ahhh that makes sense.
(Not literally every harmony mod will necessarily break on Android, it's just that when people use it, they are directly patching the game code, and there are drastic differences between the PC game code and the Android, so there's a lot of room for patches to break.)

Hi there! I'm having an issue with my SVE installation-- it's super laggy, like, unplayably so.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Things I've tried: repairing/replacing the XML framework files, updating mods (they're all the newest versions), closing all other programs while running the mod. My computer isn't the best thing in the world, but it can handle most modern games relatively easily.
I'm happy to produce some sort of log file if that's helpful.

One thing that some people have had issues with is the size of a couple of its maps, so it's possible that resizing the large ones or temporarily disabling them may help, if that's the cause. (Assuming SVE has not updated recently, since last I heard the size would be reduced in "next" update.)

Yep, it logs lots of things even without any errors - where your mods folder is, all the mods it loads or tries to, what different mods are doing, etc.

Some of the maps are quite large, and different people have had similar issues with them, so that would be my guess. You could try typing performance enable in the console, then waiting a bit, then performance summary to see what is heaviest, though not sure how informative it would be since all you have is SVE and the major frameworks it relies on ๐

There's something to find, but after that, I think it's mostly for farming monster loot and working on your combat skill.

My issue is that you can only click part of the word "SMAPI" at the top to go to the subreddit home page. (chrome, with RES, windows) I think it's a z-index issue where the box/span that contains the link is slightly bigger than the SMAPI text, but part of it is behind some other item on the page.

Hello and Good Day - I'm in a little bit of a pickle at the moment and in need of a bit of help.
So the situation is - I've started a co-op game with my buddy running Stardew Valley Expanded[1.9.4] - we ended up splitting the work between two of us, I do the farm and foraging, he does the mining and dungeon crawling.
The problem occured when he got the cutscene where Marlon says that "Thanks to the Engineers from Castle Village, the Minecart system to the Crimson Badlands is not up and running."
But when we went to the skull cavern to check it out, the cutscene played with Alesia and the other guy, but the minecart system wasn't there.
I've already posted on the mod page discussions and still waiting for a reply. I'm asking in here to see if anyone else have run into the same problem as me and my buddy have.

You have a bunch of issues with Anthro farmer, but nothing for SVE. Update SMAPI and make sure, but otherwise content problems we really can't fix (just technical issues)

I was up a little bit late last night trying to figure out what was wrong - we first thought it was the elevator mod for skull caverns so we removed that.
Then I went into single player and just bum rushed the area and trigger proper cutscenes, tadaa it was there.
Even tried it on the multiplayer save - but when I restarted the game, and have him join, the minecart system's gone again :u
And yeah, the anthro farmer's just a minor thing. I might update smapi first and try again.
It could be an event flag issue or something, if SVE isn't checking both Host and farmhand flags

Missing out on the Crimson Badlands doesn't seem to be all too bad.
Since we can still get to the Witch's place and the Mutant Bug Lair with no problems.
Probably for the best, we've had a lot of people with really bad lag on that map
using SVE's immersive farm 2 remastered, skull brazier renders weird on the far right side of the map but is fine more towards the middle. any chance for a possible fix? the skull braziers would look cool in my farm's little graveyards haha
Nope, like I said, it's a known issue due to XNA limitations. CA is aware of it, but there's nothing he can do (without a huge amount of changes)

i just realized yesterday that i can get rid of all my silos but one, because a chest of hay next to the hay hopper in the barn means always full silo.
So this is me and my buddy's farm right now, we're planning on putting more crabpots onto the ponds there and just hitting up the automate for wood and coal.
I think you can get away with two recyclers per pond.

your A&S skins have the wrong filename format
and i think Farm Expansion and Save Anywhere are not compatible
my mom's been modding her game so I have to go in and clean up whatever she's been doing at some point lol
I found out she had two different farm expansion mod folders
and at one point she basically half deleted the advize one I think

So um, I have no idea why this is happening, but every time I leave the farmhouse my screen goes black and I have to quit my game. My significant other has the exact same mods (we share them when we find new ones to add) and they are having no problems at all for their game? But for me, I get stuck in this weird black screen. (I know some mods need updating, but most of them ARE updated, they're just not being detected as their newest update apparently.) Aaaaa help? What is going on? (Using Minerva's farmhouse, didn't have issues until I added that mod)

Um, dude. Okay, well, I updated the unofficial custom redux a second ago, which I assumed I had already done, but re did it to be safe. It's working as far as everything is concerned, which is odd, but angry red letters still there. I'm not sure if I should come back when I have my file uploaded, or ignore it. But, it pretty much put my items back where they were.
Sometimes you'll get errors because mods are a little fragile, but if it's working all fine within the game, you're probably okay to ignore it. I always get errors with getglam although it works just fine
Okay, thank you. I have been literally getting fits with this. For days, and all it took was me re-verifying that it was updated properly... after fixing the marshmallow dupe error. You guys DID help, though, because I went through every file carefully.
If the game crashes or something goes weird, definitely let others know! I can only honestly say that sometimes mods will error/give you red log, but still work alright?

Anyone here who's used the Stardew Valley Expanded wanna give me a quick review score?
Doing a vanilla playthrough with partner and we got looking at mods to stop the time when one of us goes into a cutscene that would usually pause it.
Found what we needed but also happened upon this and a few other tasty looking mods.
SVE really depends on taste. It's very much a compete replacement of much of the vanilla experience, for better or worse. The characterization of the farmer is very heavily weighted towards "always good and just", so you are discouraged from exploring negative paths. The maps are very large and empty feeling to me, though I like the town design. Be warned that there are also some questionable subjects in some of the events, etc. I would recommend finishing your vanilla playthrough, maybe just with QOL mods, and then looking into story and world changing ones to see what you like

you need to make a sacrifice to the pufferchick and abandon all sanity
in a more serious note : you need to extract the files of the game so you can have access to the images
then you need a program (lot of choices) to edit the image, i use aseprite, but used gimp for a long time
and then the best choice is to use CP to load/edit your changes into the game

you can always start by some buildings and expand over time (i suggest starting small otherwise it's overwhelming and discouraging)

I find that minervaโs bigger farmhouse only affects the hostโs house and not the cabins. Is that a bug/can be changed? (i know aces affected both cabins and host house)

I actually don't rec SVE. If you want new stuff, PPJA is great, as are some of the new NPCs like Lyell and Nikolai!

Actually.. nevermind I think my goofball of a lover edited the wrong file ๐คฆโโ๏ธ I love them so much
SVE really depends on taste. It's very much a compete replacement of much of the vanilla experience, for better or worse. The characterization of the farmer is very heavily weighted towards "always good and just", so you are discouraged from exploring negative paths. The maps are very large and empty feeling to me, though I like the town design. Be warned that there are also some questionable subjects in some of the events, etc. I would recommend finishing your vanilla playthrough, maybe just with QOL mods, and then looking into story and world changing ones to see what you like
