So for some reason I had animals from 2 different mods be born as cows when they should have been 2 different kinds of goat. At the same time one of those kinds of goat gave birth the day before and it came out the same kind of goat. So what is going on? This was in the same play session

Could it have been some kind of overwhelm from having 3 at the same time?
the day did take a bit longer than usual to load and crashed the first time (luckily it saved first)
(I would presume then that the solution would be removing mods to ease things up a bit)

hi all, i just booted up sdv for the first time in a month or so, updated any mods that needed it, and updated smapi. when i opened the game after this, i noticed that it was stuttering every time the in-game time changed. i tried removing my largest mods, removing all of my mods, completely uninstalling smapi, but none of it has helped. looking it up online i found similar issues going back years but no solution. is there any cause or solution known at this point for this issue? i'm running sdv 1.5.6 on a mac. here's my smapi log: https://smapi.io/log/61f38abd959149a3869b3dcef9293f72

i think most mods ditched pytk dependency

sve doesn't need pytk anymore
hasn't for a long time
during the downtime of ptytk updates several frameworks were updated or created to replace functions from pytk's mods, and now those mods don't need pytk anyways
sve does have a lot of dependencies
try removing pytk and see if you get any red
whatever needs pytk is likely only hd portraits, if you have those
and that now works with pytk lite, a version of pytk that doesn't cause lag
just removed pytk and replaced it with pytk lite, still had the same issue :/
does vanilla stardew have any stuttering?

a lot of those instructions look windows-specific, but i followed suggestions 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, and 7 and it's still lagging. can processor affinity and process priority be set on a mac os?

I'm on MacOS Monterey, 2020 pre-M1 macbook pro
ah hm ... i'm on MacOS ventura, i do have the M1 chip š¤ i got occasional stutters before this but never on this consistent 10-minute in game interval ... i found that by switching to compatibility mode and back again in steam, it only stutters on the 6:00-6:10 AM change and ceases after that. unfortunately though, reenabling mods brings the issue back fully
If it stutters in the vanilla game (non-compatibility mode, no SMAPI) then it's an issue inherent to .NET 5.0 most likely
I believe atra said there's issues with .NET 5.0 and ARM-based architectures, but the next version of the game (1.6, announced by CA's recent tweet) may help some, since it should be based on .NET 6.0 (unless anything big changes between now and release)
It's in alpha, so if you do want to try it, you can, but keep in mind bugs are still actively being fixed and most mods don't work yet in 1.6

And you should get all the cutscenes. I believe thereās now an option in the config for progressive mode so that they donāt all happen close together

Oh, you should get reset terrain features though! Almost forgot. Either the .NET5 version or the unofficial fix. Bc thereāll be some bushes in the way at the bus stop and youāll want to reset them

So, I had this problem before, but someone told me to uninstall the tool mailing mod I had and install MSM. It fixed the issue, but now it's back. Something's supposed to be there, and the mail won't go away either. I've had other letters that I think are supposed to have something attached, but don't. And none of them have stayed in the mailbox.

Whoever told you that didn't tell you the source of your problem. FeTK is the mod that causes repeated mail, and it's Tool Delivery Upgrade Service that needs FeTK

do not use it. Whatever mod that might depend on it, don't use that either.
Otherwise you will be unable to rid yourself of the repeating mail problem. It's not something you can get around, FeTK simply needs to go.

I have a question, has anyone else had a problem with the enemy healthbars mod displaying incorrectly since the most recent update? The bars are still there and work for me, but instead of being over the enemy's head they're WAY off to the side.
Helllooo having trouble with a potentially tileset issue? Regarding the pet bowl it has a black box around it everytime i use i think it may involve the vibrant pastoral sve mod? (Ignore the ridgeside content forgot to add it in i dont think its the cause of this, however.)

I got an error when trying to extract a Stardew Valley Expanded mod. I have Linux and I got the mod from Nexus mods.com
Well first make sure that you are logged in as an administrator or a user with full control permissions.

Ok, I found some things online you can try. If this doesn't work try using 7-zip.
Right-click on the file and select Properties. Go to the Permissions tab and check the box that says Allow executing file as program. Click OK to close the Properties window.
Right-click on the directory where the file is located and select Properties. Go to the Permissions tab and check the box that says Allow creating and deleting files. Click OK to close the Properties window.
Try to open the file again.

You shouldn't delete the internal folder at all
Reinstall smapi with the installer.
Just hit install again and it will clean up after itself

The problem im having is the SMAPI installer spits out this error when I go to type the file path to the game directory "The directory dosn't seem to contain a valid game install" So I don't know how deleting the content folder could help here

Well, Lyoko, whatever is going on with my save, the one I'm using the Goldrush farm on is unaffected. Going to get the Smapi file for the one that refuses to save.
I did turn the farmhouse mod back on since that didn't seem to be the issue.

It doesn't even do that, it just stays a black page until I close it out.

And we've previously established that keeping a save backup is something Cerulean's not willing to do to test (e.g. mod binary search) and the log isn't giving a clue why it's just... not loading. The log goes up to the stuff editing Data/mail and then just.... stops

enable LoC again, sleep, and then walk away from the game (and don't click or anything) for a half hour. Essentially once you hit "yes" on go to sleep, don't click again for a half hour

that's what I thought too. I've got 7 achievements correctly registered on steam when I first installed it 1 week ago, but got several others over the week, all of them appearing in game, just not in the steam list

So a few days ago my game had a little lag hiccup and the cellar floor turned into this stripey mess. It's stayed that way across reloads. Any way to fix it? It's supposed to all be that darker color.
you can use lookup anything (with tile lookups enabled) to check what tilesheets they use and then search the log for it to see what mods are targeting them (or post the log and the tilesheets here). looks like a recolor issue

You have both multiple spouses and free love, when free love is the successor to multiple spouses
And you have both custom spouse patios AND custom spouse patios redux for some reason....
that was one of my attempt to force the mod to work

i thought since free love is the successor to multiple spuse, maybe theres a dependant that the old mod used and free love need that i dont have

update the mods that are out of date for one, and see if the problem persists
The out of date mods are up-to-date (manually checked) OR are on a previous version who the mod authors said to use if used combined with other mods (Like school with SVE)

tmxl doesn't need pytk anymore

well when you enter the forest from your farm, immediately go to the very left and you should see a big log. break that and you get to the secret woods. but for future reference, this isn't the channel for general game questions

It's a naver mod so sadly there are no conversions. I did scour about for a conversion for a few weeks when i had a moment to do so

My advise would be to install the basic mods like smapi and try adding one mod at a time and see how you find it (make sure to make a new save and name it TEST)

sve is kind of taxing but if you plan on getting only sve (and no other expansions), you shouldn't have an extreme amount of lag iirc
there are some settings you can tweak too, to make it run a bit better

having an issue where I can play 1-3 days, game will save and then lock after the calendar fades. checked the log several times and it always stops midway through the load, shows no errors at all in the raw log. when i click and it asks if i want to close prgram or wait, I did notice that in task manager that it shows SMAPI dropping its Memory usage to almost nothing. only happened recently and I have since removed any mod that should be causing any issues, as far as I know anyway.

so i'm experiencing a really bad bug with the tractor mod, the -2 speed debuff that you get while on the tractor carries over to my player once i get off it. the debuff icon disappears but i am slowed. i tried to fix it by editing the tractor speed to not give a debuff, and that made me even slower once i got off the tractor.

I wanted to mod my game for the first time but SMAPI wasnāt loading, I thought it was cause I had too many mods so I deleted all of the so I could add them one by one to see if it works. However I that didnāt work, so I doubled down and deleted the SMAPI application , now I have no idea how to get it back. I have tried downloading the SMAPI files again but I donāt think that has the application. Is there anyway I can reset the files back to their original state so I can have a clean slate? asking for third time, can anyone assist with a problem im having, can play 1-3 days, game saves, calendar fades, then game locks, no error codes, error log shows CP loading a mod as last lines of error log (always a different mod that CP is loading when it locks).

Where smapi thinks some mods are xnb mods, those are not mods you want to be using. Xnb mods can break your game, fortunately you didn't actually replace any game files with them, so you can remove them safely without needing to reset your game files.
Some of your mods are obsolete and have been replaced by other frameworks, remove those.
For the child age up thing, install child to npc
Harp of yoba is broken, get the unofficial update, the link is on smapi.io
Better fruit trees is outdated, get fruit tree tweaks instead
Finally, no soil decay has an error with the manifest file, you can open it in a text editor and change the version from 0.0 to 1.0

i download stardew valley expanded but i noticed that everytime i exit a house instead of the black screen fading out and going back outside, my screen freezes for like 3 seconds rather than it normally fading out (exit still works but the freezing thing sucks, idk why this happening)

I think I get you, do you have a lot of mods installed aside from SVE? the current version of SVE is quite resource-heavy, as far as I'm aware, so you'll see that freezing unless your machine is a bit beefy spec-wise. Still, you might benefit from installing Spritemaster if you haven't already, you don't need to enable its texture smoothing if you don't like that but I noticed a visible boost in performance after installing it.
Any fixes for this? Ran into this problem again

(the fundamental problem, I expect, is that the game doesn't search the theater when looking for NPCs. This makes sense in the context of the game, because actually most NPCs in the movie theater are "clones" and not the real NPC instance, but breaks for Claire)

I am working on fixing the mods that are broken in here or removing the non compatible ones, but it says Diverse Stardew is working and it is definitely not :( I originally downloaded most of the files via Nexus Mods with Vortex but couldn't figure out how to get them to work so just dragged all those files into my stardew mod folder and installed SMAPI directly

I got a mac specific issue: when I start stardew it opens correctly with SMAPI but it creates a different instance and keeps the regular version hanging so it just keeps bobbing on the dock until you force quit it
probably a dumb question but im gonna start using stardrop and was wondering if i need to change the launch options on steam so that steam achievements are still possible? i already have the command from before to enable them with mods but idk if i need to change it

I have the gog app, and it still runs completely fine if I close it. I think it needs it to start but it never closes it and I don't think it does anything past opening it because on a right click it shows "application not responding" (the chicken is the one that bobs btw)
SMAPI has an error if steam achievements isn't working so you should be fine
if nothing else could probably fix it myself with a shortcut or automation tbh, shouldn't be that hard to do something that will just close it automatically after a short amount of time

When two mods both edit dialogue or images, whichever mod loads last "wins" and is the one you see in the game. Has anyone ever had the problem of metal bars disappearing as soon as they're melded in the furnace? Like it pops up for < 1 sec and then disappears
if you use automate and there's chest next to furnace, the bar will go to chest
and also if you smelt any bar and furnace process the bar really fast, means you use cjb cheat menu or similar mod that make process done in the blink of an eye

What quickest or best way to start a clean slate for modding my game?
this is more of a #modded-stardew question but also im not sure what you mean. you can simply delete all your mods (except error handler, console commands and save backup) and start a new save. redownload only the mods you consider essential and as you play, find what other mods you want or need

i believe it can read as many subfolders in as you want, you will just need to have them all inside the textures folder

I've replaced my entire contents files with a backed up version, removed pytk and stardew valley expanded mod, now loads up no issue so far. Hoping it's worked.

I don't know how or why.. but it seems it was the Instant Load mod causing trouble
It also disappeared my main save game from the titlescreen menu and had that weird error every time I tried to load my Test Save game file.
