depending on the model, that's going to be the case with some of the 2 in 1s
But when I got my Dell, it came with the pen, thankfully, so that was ez enough

Leah only posts SDV-related works that are posted in #creative (a mod will manually have to add them gradually, so give it time!)

Yeah it should be fully compatible.

You may have to change Krita's settings to make it work, notably the Tablet Settings section. There's an option that changes the "Tablet Input API". Make sure you have the right API chosen for that according to your version of Windows. Other than that, just make sure your Surface is fully updated.

I have an Instagram and use it for art. I find it easier since you can reach more people than on Twitter thanks to the prominent usage of hashtags in comparison. It's also meant to be an image site, so the audience is more inclined to appreciate it than on some other social media.

There are a few community-run hosts that can allow us to have our own room, from what I can tell.

I have a question- I am making a mod where there is a "secret" (you have to notice there is a ladder) hot spring under the farm cave, and I would like to use a tileset other than the dirt-cave vibe of the farm cave map for the hot spring area, ideally one of the existing tilesets, but there aren't many of those that would work for an underground environment. I would like feedback on the idea of using this tileset from the desert dark mine. Not the really fancy bits, just the stone brick walls.

Too fancy for the farm? Too much of a color shift from the normal cave?

i think the walls could work, but if you wanted to edit them to be a bit of a darker color i think that could work

so while it may not be 100% gucci by me, it can be to someone else

it's not symmetrical in the base line artof the mug (evident by the top corners of the coffee in the mug)
and while i like the color red, it feels like....too striking? to me
and like
idk there's no base for the mug
even just a repeating pattern for the bg would work better

@jolly swan I would say play with the outline color or add some shading on the mug/coffee to make it look less flat and simple. and I think a more muted/less bright background color would be easier on the eyes.

i would also put the steam above the coffee mug and not touching it and play with a more dynamic overall shape for the steam

afaik having a palette list (like the primary colors for the oc) is good
i prefer unshaded references, especially if there's no palette list, but some people do shading and that's up to you tbh which you would prefer
having alternate outfits that the character will be seen in is a good idea, too, to give more variation to the character and show more of their personality

also!!! do headshots with varied expressions!! or varied hairstyles if they have any

at least for me only the top right one looks like the border/middle are elevated from the rest

because for funsies the easies way is to ask yourself "What's the most basic stuff that I wanna know from a person?" and you can start from there. after that it's just expanding what you want to highlight abt that character/s.

the usual are: name, age, birthday (if any), sex/gender, description, and sometimes a wee bit of basic background for the character (if any).

some people (like me) go the extra mile and go for ethnicities/species, hobbies, personality, likes and dislikes, abilities/powers or weapons, face claims, voice claims, etc. if all else fails, there are a lot of character sheets that can be ised as a reference online for the hell of it

It's good to start with the basics too. Name, age, gender, sexuality, ect. Once you set up the basics then you can start planning out more detailed things with them.

hello all! I'm new to pixel art, and I'm using GIMP to make a little water bottle in SDV. Does the label look ok? It looks wonky to me, like the shades are a little off (maybe too dark?) and not in line with the palette of the rest of the bottle, but I'm not sure how to fix it. I have a really hard time with everything, drawing the characters, drawing the environment in a way that looks good, and make it seem natural, like the character is in a 3/4 sitting pose, same with the chair, but i always make the chatacter natural while the chair is slightly off angle wise and it doesnt look rigt but i have no clue how

are the alternatives also with replaceable nibs and tanks? because that's the major selling point to me when it comes to the copic sketch series

i've tried mutliple other brands but none of them gave the same effect or bled far too much

though i will say the only other one i did like was, despite how mainstream it is, prismacolor

they didn't have very good "soft" colors but dang did they have amazing vibrancy

i will be speaking from the experience of being american and operating through this
i mean the basics of using paypal is to keep your statements readily available where you know they'll be once tax time comes
always make sure your clients send the money for business/service, not "friends and family"
because then the tax is taken out right then and there, instead of you having to figure it out later on during tax time
also will you be using a business account or your personal account? because a business account can be used for things like an online store, too, so i definitely suggest it
but for just digital commissions, that can go either way

I think what might help is thinking of hair as one shape and start by drawing one large chunk, then dividing them into the groups/strands!

oh nice! i guess since the reference is made of pixels its hard to imagine what that might look as a real hairstyle. have you looked for any photo references?

there are many photos you can find online to study from; searching for hairstyle magazines or learning from your favourite artists works (just remember to ask/credit the source if you decide to share it online)

even if you cant find any, its still great to make an attempt so you can see where you can improve from there!

extremely amateur like did you just started to learn how to draw?

if that's the case I would recommend you to start studying forms, how things are built out of basic shapes, most people start from there usually traditional but it depends on your taste, if you want some tutorials you should look at Jazza or Dan Beardshaw on yt, they are some nice inspiration for me and I think you would find some interesting tips to start from somewhere (myself I still try to draw a lot from real life, study perspective and maybe have fun sketching some cartoon characters)

and pro tip: as long as you can be consistent and patient with your work you will improve a lot faster, at least I can see this in my drawings
