@tropic halo I see you're using a rather chaotic dithering pattern. Or, more accurately, you're not using a pattern to dither. That's something that takes a lot of practice to get right, and will often result in just feeling weird or wrong.

Anyway, I'd recommend running through that pixel joint guide I linked. Most of the things I disagree with are more that they're saying to avoid things not because they're inherently bad, but because they require more skill than a beginner will have to do properly. Random dithering and "jaggies" being a big complaint on my end.

It's sort of like how a good chunk of writing rules you get in English classes aren't hard rules, but actually advice to help a beginner get a firm grounding before beginning to experiment and find a style of their own.
One of the toughest things to learn with pixel art is how to work at a sub-pixel scale. The pixels you're placing have to work together with adjacent pixels to paint a more detailed picture.

The outline on it is a good chunk of the issue. The top and bottom have different perspectives, and the glass or magic goop or whatever the center is has a fundamentally broken outline that can't be fixed without redoing the top, the bottom, or both.

With faces in particular, a big chunk of the challenge at the scale you're working is that your brain is fighting with you and trying to use its own abbreviated shorthand for what things are, rather than letting you draw the actual things you're drawing.
Consider the inner point of the eye, where you have it simply rounded out
Also consider that the eye you've drawn is wide open, as far as it can be.

My personal advice on pixel art practice and getting better at sub-pixel work is to intentionally limit your scope and scale
make things small, make them with as few colors as you can
adding more pixels and adding more colors rarely solves an issue in a sprite, if you don't already know how to use the pixels and colors you have.
you don't need to go as hard on that as I did, I spent a couple of years fiddling around with NES hardware limitations and that's honestly way further than necessary

And also, just like with any other art: never compare your work to that of others, except when studying how others make what they do to learn what you can from them.
I am likely never going to be a comparable pixel artist to The Fool, and that's fine by me.
That said, I've actively studied some of kiwinuptuo's work because their dithering is fascinating.
(Kiwinuptuo has a fantastic and easily recognizable style tied to dithering and outlining, and I can often recognize people who learned their pixel basics from some of Kiwinuptuo's old tutorials)

Like using their tools, or receiving a specific item...
I want to make such gifs for a friend who streams SV, but the sprites available in the game are enormous and making a gif myself by hand would be quite a lot of work, so if anyone would have an idea, let me know.

the various frames for the tool using and giving items are all in the games files which you can animate with aseprite just by copy pasting

well the top half and the bottom half of the cloths look like they use two different shades of gray as a base colour
top one is lighter while the bottom one is darker shade of gray
but overall it looks amazing!
the hair colouring and shading is amazingly done!
I like how you can easily tell each individual strands on the hair without putting in too much detail in the hair
