my fnaf fangame idea:
you have 3 drones and you need to carry out task around the restaurant ( the map is pretty big ),taks make noise, some more than others, noise atracks animatronics, the drones have limited power, you can recharge them in your office, animatronics can damage your drones, once the drones get thier durability down to 5%, they will aoutomaticly back to your office,each animatronic dealsdiffent amount of damage and move diffrent speeds, drones can caouse a cinntroled shot to make animatronics move back the the prevous camera they were on ( if again zapped right after being zapped, they will move back to the caqmerea there were on before the camera they ere first shocked ), you dont have any doors, once you carry out all tasks aroudn the restaurant the night ends, each night there are more tasks and some tasks change places

3d shapes are supposed to represent the perspective of the body parts, but your sketch looks like you just add random lines instead of thinking about form and position. for example, one of the pink haired girl's legs is straight, while the other is bent a little bit, but your sketch shows both legs as straight

for perspective of body parts, you could try using easy poser. it's an app that lets you pose a 3d character, and it has a feature that shows boxes and lines on the char

My recommendation is the books by Andrew Loomis. I got them for my courses and they’ve been very useful.

I personally find that blocking is time consuming and it didn’t really help me learn back then. Still feel the same.

box-blocking is just a case of curiosity for me. Also shading is highly influenced by not only the shape and lighting but also color. Anything can be flat with flat color palette too.
Starting from shape is fun but it’s also good to look up masterworks or works of your fav artists and see how they go with their styles.

as a beginner, i tried to skip basic shapes and went right to learning anatomy. after a couple of years i had to go back and learn it anyway, then study anatomy again with my new knowledge. i still go back to basics from time to time, actually

One important thing is that you can block out the proportion by instinct
As in you know the thighs should end there and the shoulder should be this wide in regards to the head, etc

tbh i'd suggest avoid boxes and use more fluid lines
structuring a body with fluid lines and ovals can confuse you when you're starting out. they're like the icing on the cake, not a replacement for simplified structure. it should go gesture => boxing the figure out as a 3d object => smoothing the angles and adding details. if you're skilled enough to do the first two steps in your head, you can skip them, but to achieve that you need to be really good at understanding the perspective and structure of the human body

when you structure the body with boxes, those lines help you understand the form and place the details. smooth fluid lines come afterwards
