i'm happy for you
I like how your style is a little close to realistic and I feel you can do even better
thankk
; A ;
you guys have been so nice and given me so much motivation to do more art ; ~ ;
just thought id say that the only bad artists are art stealers
LMAo mood
too many people shit on their own art instead of figuring out how to improve and i hate it
oh?
well from personal experience sometimes its really hard to get past that plateau of skill, personally ive been sitting on one for years now but my depression's made it hard to push through and keep doing art in spite of everything looking wrong that i draw
the only way to really get through it though is to keep drawing and looking for new sources of inspiration/reference so that eventually something about the way you work changes. but that's difficult for a lot of folks
hi sexy artists
i get that, but some people just compare themselves to others (i used to do this) and call themselves shit
ive learned to not do that
a lot of artists i know go through a phase like that at some points
personally i still have a really hard time with it sometimes when theres a 16 year old on the internet whos doing better illustrations than me, a27 yo with a degree xD
yeah that would be nice if we didnt thinkt hat way
happens sometimes, i gave up on digital because well, what did i have to draw?
i had one reaper boi an thats about it
didnt really have time to learn
got into pixel art
ahh yeah
having time to learn is always difficult for a lot of ppl
i was lucky in that i dont really have much in my life i have to worry about
i have so much to worry about
i love pixel art but its seriously affecting my grades
and my parents are asian so you can imagine how that goes
ohh heck
yeah i had that same problem in college
for the first couple years anyway
all i wanted to do was do my own art, not my assignments, even though most of them were art assignments
thats why it took 7 yrs to get a 4 year degree
hi i made a stupid comic of mine and someones ocs on gaia but i love it so im legally obligated to share KJAHSDKJH
hecc
What i consider the best feeling in the world: when someone you consider to be a really good artist complements your art
yeee u got dat right
also a question for the admins, do yall allpw streams in this server? i was thinking of trying an art stream but using obs is a pain in the ass and hard on my computer so using discord would be easier
and i could do it thru my own server but i know u dont allow other server adverts here
idk if anyone would even be interested anyway i was just gonna draw seb xD
@lone mountain do u know?
we don't :(
im pretty sure u can say ur streaming in here and ask people if they wanna watch just dont post link or spam
also i could help you with obs but i have mine set up with picarto
i have no clue on how twitch works
oh i can def help u then
its just kinda finnicky for me and havent used it with this new computer yet
i will def watch u too π³
do you want to see my settings?
thats why i stopped doing streams is cuz i wouldnt get anyone to join half the time xD
lemme se if i can set it up first, i have a feeling settings depend on hardware
i also need to figure out how to give photoshop more ram xD
idk if u use gaia but a lot of people just use the free art forum to advertise their stream KJASHDJ
i mean if u give the false promise of doing them free art they will
depending on time there will be around like
5-10 people
ive been meaning to stream again but i hate doing art for people
its too hard alkjshd
i like it cause i like attention. but usually people will come if im doing fandom specific art, i dont usually have to offer requests. sometimes i do if i want to though ; - ;
but i was gonig to offer requests this time
for things to draw sebastian doing xD
I think I've finally accepted that it's okay if I don't finish my sketches. I just like doodling. I'm still trying to find myself, I can't force it.
thats valid
also what i like to do is come back to my sketches a few months later and see if i feel like working further on any of them. usualy the answer is yes
Here is Sebastian to celebrate
OOOO
Booof boi
babys been workin out
heh
imagine seb
working out secretly for months before ur characters birthday
Godaaaaamn
and then on their birthday he comes in the room, rips off his shirt and hes like 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY"
and ur characters like

sebby knows whats best for his mate
Naw naw, we wre just admiring his body in a "creative" way
hehe
Hefty chonk(I believe) did a drawing of Sebastian and a Fairy Rose. It was adorable. I like it showing a softer side to him.
uwuwuw yes
does he actually like those in game?
i also have headcanons about that though
He hates them.
i like to imagine seb's used to having walls and acting tough all the time cause he's had to to survive being a loner
but once he gets married he gradually opens up and lets himself be more vulnerable
lmao thats what i thought xD
He's a cinnamon roll
ye really is
Must protecc
MUST PROTECC
Protecc squad assemble!!
oh my god picarto why cant you just let me select my server instead of trying to connect to all four servers so that you can pick it for me. i dont want tto wait 20 mins for you to connect to germany
feel like marriage has a different stigma in the stardew world, seb is like 19
i thought he was in his mid 20's based on his dialogue
talks about how if he went to college he'd be making 6 figs by now
hes also a freelance programmer
he certainly looks pretty young
i mean you cant really decide a characters age based on heavily stylized art imo
Certainly perfect for marriage huhuhu
the sdv style is meant to be very cutesy-stylized
is there somewhere in canon where it says everyones ages?
there isn't
They're all most likely 18-20 y old
yea they all give me a rly young vibe
i'd disagree but
shane is prob a bit older
i feel like some of their dialogue was heavily stereotyped
and of course harvey is a doctor
I see what you mean
at least post college age since he regrets not going to college
plus it's assumed that as each year passes they age xD
Oh well
so he's gotta be at least 22ish by the time you marry him
That is valid
i hc that you just move in with each other
unless u somehow marry him in the first year
First year marriage? Yeep I did that
i did it my 2nd year just cause i wanted to like not burn through that part of the game immediately xD
I made a lot of yetis crying for him
hehehe
Can we also appreciate the most creative person in this world, Leah
I could talk all day long about her being such an inspiration
lmaoo
i.... sadly have no interest in the other characters xDDDD
im a one-character-fixation type of person
yes it does suck cause then i dont enjoy stuff as fully as others ; - ;
Smhhh, well you do you
I'm a Sam-Fam-Man
I love sunshine man
hes pretty cool
if i was gonna romance someone else itd probably be him or elliott
Saiyan hair
i do like a glorious mane man
BUT my weakness for emo hair is strong
and if i was even the tiniest bit bi i'd probably go for abby too. but i dot not have a single female attracted bone in my body ; - ;
shes really cool tho. def my 2nd fav character
I have a weakness for energetic blondes
ahah
Just talk about Sam, watch jevin's saiyan senses tingling
His hair is too perfect smh

alex best boy, will not be taking questions at this time
hmm, but what about haley shes ACK
Lmao we turned creative discussion into sdv
let's talk about drawing alex
it's still creative if we blab about headcanonos
I like drawing hair.
fluffy hairrr
I actually ran through almost every marriage but I can find myself liking Leah, Seb, Sam and Alex
Their stories are so relatable
im thinkin about doing that art stream for sebby stuff in aminute here. is anyone interested??
ill take requests ; - ;
it's 22:21 here so I'll be heading to sleep soon π¦
aw
just ping me/dm me if u want the link. imma start it now
I making dome sketch of Sebadtian with hacker ffff
yessss
babbyy
There seems to have been a trend with making Seb increasingly attractive and muscular with every fanart.
i mean, yeah how else are we meant to eventually do him justice with recreating his beauty?
mhm
it might be my fault
also that implies seb isnt attractive in the base game, which isnt true at all xD
Oh no, I just mean I've observed a constant increase from the baseline.
hehe
a bit upset rn since my parents took my pc for a while meaning no pixel art (because contrary to popular belief, video games are not my favorite thing)
damn that sebastian is a hunk
Abigail glares from the window
who are you kidding abby's gotta be thirsting after dat butt just like everyone else in town
since if we are going to interpret the fact that anyone can be romanced by either gender, everyone is at least bi
:)
all the dude npcs are just a little gay for seb xD
I know there's a TV Tropes page for this.
Woah, nearly got caught in a TV Tropes streak.
hehe
who is that qt
His OC's name is Tim
o
But he draws a lot of bizarre things, search on your own risk (not nsfw)
o i see
when i reversed image searched your pfp earlier it redirected to his page
thought it was some random retweet so didnt pay attention
Yeah my pfp is his art as well
he's very talented
Ikr
He puts so much pain in those characters but in such a beautiful way
I couldn't help myself but asked for a commission
This is the sketch still of me doing the cosplay of the earth
Yeah
adorable
I'm amazed, it looks better than I expected
He is also such a nice guy to talk to oof
I do believe he reflected some of the life bad experiences into his art, but I hope he's ok now
does anybody know a good way to transfer fire alpaca animations?
Can't they export to a gif or MP4?
@hushed ledge if you plan on compiling it in video software set the animation to save as sequential pngs
If not, then MP4
I believe firealpaca has a secondary online program. I used to use it... Although I can't remember the name. It had something to do with a shiba, but it was like a gif compiler.
@lethal belfry ur art is sexy π₯Ί
Hahaha thank you so much
I remember that drawing was one of the first male anatomy practica I'v just draw a lot women XD but now I draw more men than women
Thank to jojos too
anyone use Affinity Designer here?
cake sword 5, bg is only because iphone is stupid and doesnt allow transparency
I've been doodling. Here's a shocked Seb
Adorable! I love those big ol' eyes
Thank you
isnt really art but i made myself a cool outfit in acnh
When you're sad, you can draw what ever you want.
Sad boi hours
lmaooo, now I understand that hot pepper reference @ember narwhal π
Didn't saw this text till now
hehe
im curious has anyone else besides me gay romanced seb? cause most art i see here is with fem farmers uwu
i wana see the cute gay seb pairings too owo
i vaguely remember seeing a few over the years
; A ;
yeye
i guess im just weird cause im not cis at all so i identify more with dudes. and i only want dudes wehrever i go xDDDD
lol and thats valid!!
dudes kissing dudes is my total jam
sebastian's a popular bachelor overall
him and shane have always been head-to-head for most popular boy i'd say
he seems very popular esp in the artist community which isnt surprising
oh really?
yeah!
when i first met shane i was like... pppl like shane? xDDDD
LOL a lot of people find him relatable
he was rude to me 3 times so i was like uhh okay bye xDDD
then i read his wiki and i was like OH
yepppp
hes a chicken man
shane does a lot of improving over time
yea
i see so much art of those two boys
i kinda wish sebs storyline was more like that though? like he legit seems to be depressed but its never taken seriously in the game imo
and like
shanes alcoholism is a big deal but sebs smoking isnt. its like a background thing. smoking is just as bad as alcoholism
idk i just want more for him. thats why i wanna make a mod xD
personally i see him as his mid 20's so the whole high school "im emo so i pretend to be sad" thing seems really fake and not thought out well
well shane's alcoholism is ||the result of depression and coping, and in ways makes his situation worse because he's unable to think clearly about his decisions. smoking is obviously bad but it doesn't affect people the same way alcohol does.||
i mean it can still ruin your life
and quitting smoking is just as hard as quitting alcoholism too
idk, i just wish there was more depth
that's a valid criticism, can be applied to most if not all of the characters in the game π
it also depends on the severity of it too i guess, seb probably isnt into smoking as hard
yea
hopefully future updates will give us more! i always feel so inspired to draw
whenever new heart events are added
wait when was the last update? u think more will come out??
id love more than anything for there to be more post marriage content
like dialogue, events, even just having your spouse actually do something besides stand around the house all day...
Yes, 1.5 is in the works, but the only think we know so far is that they'll have banana trees and bananas
I'd like that too
ohh
idek what to do with fruit trees xD
the only part of the game im interested in is romancing seb xDDDDD
i use this to make up for the impossibility of getting a bf in real life ; - ;
xD
just having your spouse actually do something besides stand around the house all day...
Can't relate, Penny only does that 2 and a half days a week
Can't wait to fill my green house with banana trees
lol good for u then
for some reason seb onlly does stuff 2 days a week. like goes outta the house.
like. him staying inside is fine and makes sense but like. i wish he'd keep working his job xD like sitting on the computer working
that would make me feel a lot better
instead he just stands around and stares at objects for hours. its really weird
im filling my greenhouse with ancient fruit and rare seeds xD
After marriage Penny goes to tutor the kids three days a week, the whole year 'round. Rain, snow, sleet, she doesn't care, the kids gotta learn
lmao
No breaks
thats another thing id like in the update... let me have a cellar without a nursery pLEAAASE
i dont want eternal toddlers
xD
if they grew up into adults i'd probably be more open to it but like. eternal useless gremlins? no
also if u gonna let the gays adopt, let us adopt teenagers xD
teens are cool
way cooler than babies
I saw an alex x seb pic somewhere here before and I was here for it
hehe
alex teaches seb how to be buff, and seb teaches alex how to be goth. then we can have 2 buff goths
this is good
teens are cool
Errr I disagree with that
I've met plenty lol
the url wasnt found D:
he b l u s h
cue alex saying "youve never handled a football before have you"
and sebs like WHAT ///// DO YOU MEAN
hehe
wow this was posted almost a year ago how the time flies
alex: was legitimately just talking about sports but now hes curious
xD
tbh that persons drawing style made both of them reallly cute
in game alex is like. okay looking but that alex there is cuuuuute
his hair floof
would also be cute if that did happen, and in this au thats when seb realizes hes bi xD but then alex turns out to be straight and sebs like will another hot guy ever take interest in me??? then my boy taaajy comes along
just an idea xDD
yes his hair floof
mhm
oh i just realized why i cant concentrate on drawing today. its cause i ddint have any coffee. and now its too late to have any : n ;
never too late
heck well
i just spent a bunch of time reversing my noctournal schedule and now im waking up at 3pm again.
like my body is allergic to waking up in the morning and getting tired at night
i legitimately dont understand it
its like im awake slightly longer and sleep for slightly longer than everyone else so i'll never be on the same schedule as the world lol
Spoiler
It's from the ||crane game|| you unlock it after the community center bundles
Ughhhh why hands have to give so much trouble. Not even trying to draw a normal hand, it's just a chibi hand
Hands are my biggest enemy
fingers hurt me
Is this looking about right to be an Animal Crossing dog? He's supposed to be a cocker spaniel based on a real life dog
yea it's very cute
Choosing between draw about game and play game is stupid hard
I need to do more art but the animal crossing...it calls me
i..wanna draw a swole antonio...
Pls.............gift us this
I wanna do a baby comic about my ac villagers cause cookie is super sweet to my human one but she says a lot of mean things about fish so I'm just laughs in catfish
You speak the truth
he is pretty cute uwu
I shared this before, I think. But I doodled to give me a smile.
OH THATS FUCKING PRECIOUSSSSSSS
Thank you!!!

bbys
They look great
thank yall! β€οΈ
nice!!! omg i love the dynamic shapes, especially the tail!!!
also i'm sorry everyone but i can't draw cat arms so i did this and it's curse d i'm sorry
im scared
i take a picture of my own hand
I'm sorry I heard cat hands, and
That's some severe case of cat scratch fever
ok, this might be a lil strange to ask but why do artist don't want their art to be reposted, with credits ofc
or repost is different from sharing
reposting separates the artwork from the artist. so like, if someone from tu mblr took one of my seb drawings, and posted it, they would be getting all the notes, all the attention, all the follows for it. do you think that would be fair to the artist? even if they did credit me, many people will be too lazy to click the link and go to the original source. and most of the time when people repost stuff, it's literally just to get attention for themselves ,9 times out of 10 they are not crediting intentionally.
if you are sharing, usually you are just essentially sharing the link to where the art was posted. you are not downloading the image and uploading it as your own photo, which is what happens when someone "reposts"
it actually takes more work to repost than to share. most websites have a share function, where as to repost something, you actually have to download the image and then make a new post on your website or blog.
many times when reposting happens the artist has no knowledge of it either. and sometimes people reposting will attempt to claim it as their own or generate some kind of profit from it. so thats why its typically a negative thing to do.
personally i don't want my work reposted on websites where i actually have a profile and a following. but if someone reposts (with credit) to a website where i dont have an account and have no intention of joining, then i would consider that fine. i would prefer to be asked first in all situations though.
wow, thank you so much for clarifying everything, I understand now but than again, how do artist get popular?
i'm not sure how it works for every artist out there, but a few ways i've seen for myself are either they join an active fandom and post a lot of fan art, which interests many people if its a big fandom too, so they get a lot of exposure from that. the second method is usually a combination of either theyve just been posting in the same place for years and years consistently and usually they tend to have a higher level of technical skill than other artists doing the same thing. or they happen to befriend someone who does have a large following and can promote their art. it's a lot of luck, really.
but the most common one is through fandoms
thats how i got 4k followers on tumblr, by posting a bunch of fan art.
it was much easier when the fandoms were active.
Thanks for taking your time to open my eyes π
yw uwu
i enjoy talking about this kind of stuff, a lot of people don't actually know about it
a lot of it is from personal experience too. ive been posting art online a lot so most of this stuff ive encountered at some point
must've been harsh for everyone...
yeah trying to get yourself out there with nothing but your oc's is fucking brutal
xD
though ive learned that once you join fandoms, you can start posting your oc stuff and usually a handful of people will enjoy your art just because its your art, and actually want to see more of your oc's . then if you rotate fandoms llike me, that handful of people will stick with you no matter what you do. in each fandom you may find more people like that. eventually most people will follow your art because they like your art, not because you do fan art
havent quite gotten to there yet myself though ; u ;
That sounds so wonderful
but i do have one person that commissions me for my oc's every time i post commissions ; A ; i cry lol
you gotta surround yourself with a lot of nice peoples
lol well the trick is to not force it xD
i only draw fan art i actually want to draw. thats why its always only 1 hot dude character from the fandom im in. and i just draw him for 3 years and then move to a new fandom lmfao
mirax that's inspirational af
; - ; i try lmfao
yuuup
Preach
"How does the artist get popular?"
It's a valid question that others have answered, but note that this line of thinking is used by people who think they can pay in "exposure". People and by extension users of the internet are consumers, but not investigators. They may enjoy art that they see posted but they rarely if ever take the effort to look into the source (see: sensationalist news headlines and fact checking). Regulars of this channel are more artistically-minded so we're more likely to do that.
I will confirm that fanart is a good way to get an initial following. Don't worry about posting original art mixed in with it or eventually dropping off the fanart afterwards; fanart will get you noticed but your style is what makes them stay.
Art is a very personal or "intimate" field compared to others because the art is very much a part of the artist. Your fans will follow where you go artistically (barring extremes like a sudden switch to NSFW art or strong politics and ideologies).
I think this is often a reason why artists get discouraged. When you create something, it's a part of you, which means that presenting it to the world has a much higher effect on your validation.
Their opinion on a part of you is also seen as part of their opinion on the rest of you.
that's so true pezzo, when you share your work publicly it feels a lot like your own character and self, as a person, is being judged rather than the product
i think people consuming the art oftentimes don't feel that way about how they're passing judgment, or are unaware of that effect, or simply don't care. even small, seemingly-benign comments that can be construed as unprovoked or unwanted criticism seem much bigger in the eyes of the person who made the thing, and having art ignored or passed over feels similarly like a personal rejection. it's easy to get discouraged if you aren't getting the external validation you want, and that external validation is a major driving factor in your producing the art
which is why it's helpful to make content that you, personally, like. the kind of stuff you'd probably make even if you had nowhere to share it. that way, external validation doesn't really have so much influence over your own sense of self as it relates to art
It's hard to stick with that mindset though.
at least, that's what i've found. and the more stuff you make that's high quality because You Personally care about it and wanted to make it, generally the more people notice and like it?? it's weird
for sure
Few can entirely validate themselves in a vacuum.
Fortunately there's always someone that'll like what you make, but it may just be harder than others.
Wait, this is sounding like relationship advice if a few words are swapped.
lmao
personally i always avoid connecting myself too much to my art. viewing your art as too personal produces the kind of people who are oversensitive about constructive criticism and cant take it at all
obv not everyone is looking for critique or criticism but thats one of the first things you have to learn at college and especially if you are serious about improving your skills.
so i'd just be careful about viewing your work as a "part" of yourself top deeply in all cases
oh yes absolutely. i think the hobbyist has a harder time disconnecting from their work, but it's an important skill to learn if the aim is to improve
yeah exactly
and it really isn't a "part" of you, at least not in the eyes of most people consuming it. they don't typically judge things that way, i don't think. nobody's looking at a drawing going "that perspective is wonky. you must be a terrible person" lmaaoo
yeah well thats how a lot of younger less experienced artists actually take it
they think oh i spent so much time on it and youre pointing out 16 things wrong with it i guess im just shit at art and i shoulsnt bother making any more
so when feedback is involved its important for both the artist and the critiquer to have the right mindset
constructive feedback shouldnt sound rude or mean, ans the artist shouldnt take it personally. its meant to help the artist improve at the core.
it's also important to understand constructive feedback as the huge compliment that it is. the person offering the criticism finds you worth their time, and feels your work is worth the investment to improve, evolve, grow, etc
yeah exactly
No, some people just complain and are rude and pretend its "constructive"
talkin a real big game over here for a hobbyist drawer for like. three years tops
there's a difference, though
and tyapically you shouldnt even be getting critique unless you asked for it. nobody likes unsolicited advice. the same applies to art
@lusty hull then thats not proper critique and you should tell them to fuck off
I try to only say nice things
you can tell if someone's just being rude. YEAH if it's unsolicited, baseless, or unprompted then that is quite different
I've had to blcok some weirdos
good
blockem
yea well i have always wanted to be a concept artist, so i studied for that, but now finding out how fucking competitive and brutal it is idk if i have the energy for that xD
it just sucks being to college and learning proper critique and then coming back to the internet and seeing how mean and defensive a lot of people are
yeahhh
idk what im gonna do with myself now tch
tbh
i feel that mirax. it's tough out there for professional artists
job stability is difficult to come by in that field. i see concept artists/character designers for commercial television studio-hopping constantly
don't know if it's the same for visdev people in games and movies, but i'd imagine so?
i would love to be able to draw all day but doing it professionally sounds stressful. job stability is hard enough rn and i work in stem which is supposed to be better :/
It's supposed to be (especially these days)
I will say that it's hard not to feel at least a small personal connection to your creative ventures.
Where else did the ideas come from other than yourself?
The hard part has never been other people for me
yeah. i suppose i feel more personally towards non fan art, but most of what i show to the public is fan art so i dont really have that problem
Iβm so hard on my own art that it makes it difficult to show it to others
Even when people say itβs good
I always feel like itβs really rough
same, i think most artists feel that way
youre always gonna be your own critic cause only you went through the process of creating it and are aware of which parts you arent as good at and what you struggled with the most
i still feel that way about all the art i make. its never good enough xD
Artist : puts description in their art page that accepts criticism
Random People : dood, your art is ugly, how can you call that art?
Artist : do you even know how to criticize properly
Random People : ofc I know, I just gave you one, it's not an insult
even until now, some people called insult as criticism lmao
Reminds me of the people that go "No offense, but [offensive comment]."
no offense, but duck you
i love those. i just tell them to fuck off cause i dont care about being nice to assholes anymore looool
i made an ng account recently and gave some guy a small advice in the comments, saw that they followed later me and didnt think much of it
then i see that they left a comment on one of my artworks which i think was supposed to be advice but they worded it so weirdly, dont really wanna call it an insult cus it doesnt seem like it, but it was just annoying to read
I practicially survive off the critiques from others
only way I learn
i usually ask for em from friends or on the art server i mod
A horrible habit I have due to my insecurities is asking for advice too often, like I'll draw a head and ask for advice on the shape right away
I'm never sure of what I do until someone shows me or tells me its fine
I do seriously wish I was more independent. Sometimes I feels like my drawings aren't my own.
ya just gotta let imperfections go sometimes, or look for a ref image instead of asking someone
im not big on showing wips so unless i have a thing i dont know how to approach i dont ask for advice
i almost never show wips, it makes me too nervous. but it's probably helpful if someone giving advice can see your process? i'm not sure if there's an advantage
holy shit
so i tried flipping my canvas for the first time
and
im surprised
some of these look really good flipped and some look... wonky asf
if i go too long without flipping it, the thing i'm drawing will absolutely end up in the "Wonky ASF" category
ignore the horrid lineart, im working on that
wonky asf
i like that saying
lol im keeping that in my vocabulary now
im the type of person who starts off with a good idea and then realizes how shit it is when im almost 99% done
example: plume style lineart
i heard once that when you flip the canvas, you are getting to see the drawing as someone who's never seen it before would view it. as you draw your brain makes like a hundred tiny corrections to the thing you're seeing, because it knows what it's supposed to look like. and when you flip the canvas it can't make those corrections anymore
UGH i feel that about being 99% done
also that drawing's super cute, i think the lineart looks nice
coloured lineart always looks nice imo
Regarding WIPs, i feel like sharing them could give you a confidence boost
now i have to fix the entire coloring bc
well
half of this coloring fits for the old lineart
this is due in 3 days and i have another one to doooo aaaaa
how to deliver criticism is different by places and countries anyway, if you found that comment annoying you can just put "Don't accept criticism unless I asked" in your art page I guess?
I personally never shown any WIP in open public places like twitter, tumblr, etc. This server I still considered it semi public so I think it's okay to share it here. Sharing WIP in a big open site like twitter is kinda prone to art steal
I don't even accept sketch only/lineart only/flat coloured commissions
flipping the canvas was a hardcore part of my drawing process until i had to start using photoshop.theres no easy way to do it in there
dat moment you turned everything to shit when you flipped your canvas
it really happens alot on me
lmao same
thats what just happened lol
- draw like normally
- flips the canvas, sees mistake, managed fix it
- flips the canvas back, sees mistake again, managed to fix it
- flips the canvas again, sees mistake again, managed to fix it
repeat
me: draws something I think is nice
me: flips canvas
my brain: well fuck it looks like absolute dog shit now. It deserves to die in a fire. Delete this now.
drawing the other eye
That was funny but come on, you can do it
lmfao relatable
drawing other eye is not that much problem
drawing other eye in front-profile character is the pain
^^ true
drawing a front on character is the only type of face i can do xD

its a bitch yeah. i bet if i could flip itd look wonky af xD
I flip my canvas like every few minutes π₯
that's what i used to do lol

for art contests- how do you track or art theft?
and- if tracing were a form of it, how would you track if an entry is traced?
for tracing depending on how the end result is you could probably reverse image search on Google to see if anything suspicious comes up
this is going to sound potentially mean, and i really don't intend for it to sound that way but. when something is traced it's usually quite evident if you know what to look for
you're 100% right
i hope that doesn't sound rude but π¬
it doesn't
okay good flskfjk
I didn't get rude from that at all
but unless the style of the artist shifts a lot- I'm not sure what you mean by "it's evident"
unless I recognize the picture they traced.
well to me personally what ive seen is that the anatomy or traced thing looks really good, but then ecerything else not traced doesnt have the same level of technical skill
or just looks weirdly off
back then I used to trace my own hand, arm, leg quite many times lol
and that's a valid form of tracing
tracing another art is no
yeah thats acceltable. when you talk about tracing being bad its because they traced someone else artwork or photo
yea
if I remember it right
most times they also wont say they used a reference or anything.
to detect a trace, you used an image that is close or similar enough to the suspected art, put it on transparent and match the lines
but some people do use tracing as a form of learning. but it shouldnt be used in final peices for commissions, contests etc. and the ref should always be sourced
but still, be wary if you're trying to accuse someone of tracing
i wouldnt say anything unless you can get several artists to agree with you
false accusation can lead to your own demise anyway
even if you cant confirm its a trace, you can still disqualify if they borrowed too heavily from references that they didnt have permission to use
thats why everyones afraid of using reference
but as long as youre not straight copying the image or composition youre fine
well the thing is some artist might not care about permission for using art as reference or heavy reference
and this is really only an issue if you are doing work on contract or for payment
it depends on the situation and what youre making the artwork for
might be an issue if you used that for competitions, because alot of people's eyes are on your art
for a contract between 2 parties is gonna be hard to difficult
since only few peoples are involved
but don't look at me as if I'm trying to justify tracing
before I accuse someone of tracing tho, I'd ask another artist's opinions 1st, then confront the accused artist privately, if they still refuse to comply then there's no way but to publicize the proof
some art tracers can be kids you know
so I'd say direct publication of the proof isn't a wise move, without clarifying the accused artist themselves
kids and noob artists are still learning, and mostly have no idea if tracing is allowed or not
Omg, I got through some of my old drawings and they didn't look wonky when I flipped them??? Maybe I was doing ok and it was just my lazy ass who gave up...
lucky for you, because my old arts always turned to shit when flipped
my writing looks weird when flipped
Everything you do now is amazing Meed pish
ty. i love your art too
I mean you're not the only one mead
though the difference is I know what I'm trying to go, but still looks crap .-.
hah i definitely know that, it's nice when you see the progress you make
with time you learn what methods work and which dont
i'm still trying that with coloring
(and most other stuff too)
I've been trying to go with my style when I'm still using sai+krita, turns out to be quite difficult to be copied perfectly in CSP
Me doing art??? Pfft no, but maybe soon enough
dat moment when people said copying other artist's style is hard, I can't even copy my own
i feel you with csp
it feels so weird that i barely use it
sai is still my main choice
my tablet doesnt mesh with csp well though
I'm still trying to figure out the light theme for CSP lol
Why is that strange?
sai's lack of a dark theme annoyed me so much i made an overlay for it
as much as I hate discord light theme, but when it comes about art software, I preferred light theme for some reasons
probably that's because I was quite used to photoshop which is having no dark theme
light themes just burn my eyes after drawing for a while
!!!
I'm pretty much a practical person smook
trying a new style isn't necessary for me unless I have time for it
trying new style means I have to hold my commission inquiries, which is not a wise move unless if it's prepared

actually I can just go on using a different style but it risks a case like this
which is the moment when your client files a chargeback because the item isn't as described

yeah doing that in the middle of commissions isnt a good idea
WIP
yes she gave him a stupid good booty
is that like a drop or a projectile or summon?
noice
i havent done terraria sprites in ages though most of my sprites look like they'd be in terraria ;-;
So i have a cover page for my schoolβs agenda due in three days, and so far i have this
And i had a second idea, that Iβd love to do but im so stressed ya know
ohh it's for your school's agenda?? that's so cool
what's the second one?
i think what you have is so cute and would look great printed
it's hard to make art that would look good printed but yours would look awesome imo
oooh that's very pretty too
i think it would be faster to make, maybe? because there are fewer faces/characters
my friends told me i should wrap up the first one and then do the second one
do you have time to do both of them? maybe finish the more complex one first
yeah!!
alrighty!!
oh!! does anyone here know procreate??
bc im wondering if theres an option of keeping your brushes seperate per canvas
bc if i switch from one canvas to another, im still using the same brush
so if i change it then i change the previous brush
@pastel nimbus sorry for the ping but i have a question relating to the drawing i showed u
fff ive been wanting to get back into drawing organic planty things so i think im gonna see if i can do a realistic drawing of the fictional types of flowers in this game
starting with fairy rose uwu
i think the only other fictional one is summer spangle?
hmm
Fairy Rose is actually real
WAT
well it doesnst come in all the colors that stardew valley has so imma draw those
and imma draw it to look more like the plant in game
where its just a single stem instead of a bush
ah hey @lament turtle sorry about that i was sleeping!
its okie!!
im unsure what type of lineart i should do for the sketch
i have examples
oh yeah let's see em!
wait i thought my drawings uploaded lol
thick black & charming lineart
simple brown anime lineart
colored soft lineart
oooh... i think with all the organic shapes you have going on, the soft coloured lineart would look really good!
i'm certainly no expert of course, but that's my opinion!
i also had the idea of doing a mix of the charming black lineart with soft coloured lineart!
@pastel nimbus
uuugh i napped again
i think that could look awesome actually! great idea. maybe the black lineart for the more rigid/defined shapes like the buildings , and the softer lineart for softer organic shapes
okie doki!
anyone's using paypal business account? Just want to know, does paypal removes unarchived old invoices?
the invoice during the 1st time I'm doing commissioned art is just gone
i cant remember if mine is a business one or not... i think it is??? lmao paypal confuses me ; = ;
how come you don't know your paypal account type
though it could be right paypal is confusing now
if I remember it right some people said personal account cant make invoices
yet some people said personal account can make invoices as well π¦
since I never had personal account so idk
personal can do invoices too
mine's a personal account
i think i keep it personal cause i also use it for personal reasons
and also to buy stuff on steam xD
i think a business account you can tie in with taxes and stuff like that, probably makes it easier when tax time comes around or smth
well after I gave it a check
I got myself confused with activity page and invoicing page lmao
the invoice is still there, though the it has no activity record
I also just read it in paypal forums and apparently your account info is shown to the recipient if you used personal account
when you send out invoices
business account uses the business name and email instead apparently
oh welp
Was feeling it for the black outline on the roses @pastel nimbus
Thank you! So do i continue with it for the roses?
idk if this person knows i used to draw voltron fan art and is trying to throw shade at me or just makes a habit of saying passive aggressive things that are completely irrelevant to the posts they comment on
but either way this is funny to me
idk if this belongs in this channel but i just thought it was funny to share xD
Why would they hate voltron anyway
^
Okie dokie
looks so tidy and clean
Ill do the soft outline for the skyscrapers and leaves
not that i'm defending them but i'm pretty sure 'i hate it here' is from a meme
Maybe for the banner too
so it MIGHT be kind of in jest idk
lmao what
lol im just not gonna say anything
its just kind of funny 2 me
maybe i should tag them and be like no thats sdv art, my voltron art looks like this insert sheith pic
lol
you ever just want to draw but cant find your frickin pen
mhm
Love the colours!
does anyone uhhh.... want some nsfw of seb and my farmer in their dms..... if ur over 18..... its a wip..... am i even allowed to advertise that here LMAO
; - ;
idk how else to ask ppl
u can delete it if its not allowed
ccoo
so yea dm if u want it =w =
lmao good call
Yay, responsible youth
i dont want my image of seb to be ruined lmfao
Is Seb a bottom? π
everyone has a bottom
yes hes a .... b
havent you seen his sprite
it has a big butt
its hilarious and my favorite
screaming
I did not... π³
its only in the hugging animation and the wedding animation
if its gay then idrc what he is but if it's straight fanart then i'd say he's a top-- then again i have literally 0 knowledge in this shit so π€·
for some reason in the smoking one he doesnt have the extra butt
imo seb has bottom energy but thats also cuz my farmer is taller and buffer than him xD
and yes its gay
everything i do will always be gay mlm forever
i dont care about anything else o-o
i know what i like lmfao
all i know is my farmer and seb are cute as heck
i havent done my farmer x seb fanart in forever
thats all i really care about. thats the only part of the game i play it for xDDDDD
i cant wait for the spring event cuz my art changed so much since the last event
and i know what imma drw
I'm gay so I automatically love all the gay Stardew Art
idc if its gay or straight or whatever, if its stardew art i like it
omg y'all wanna see my old ass sdv fanart of the beginning of last year
i commend u for drawing a background
i like sams super saiyan hair
thanks lmfaO
i always did backgrounds, dunno why i would make myself struggle like that
this was my entry for the winter event though
thank u destin!
u can see the drastic change
pupper
then again that was 5 months ago and i still think im way better now
is that sword in the game?
aren't glaives like huge spears irl
why's it a sword in the game smh
@ concernedape explain yourself
Great improvement
Game literally unplayable now
im hella proud of my improvent in terms of shading and hair
like... i can...draw hair...wooooot
This was the oldest picture I drew of him that I could find. ||I delete old art, my phone is dumb with storage.||
What is shading, I hardly know her
oooo i likey
Somewhat new non-chibi of him
My style of hair now
It looks so nice
thank you! idk why but ive grown so fond of this way of drawing hair
its all thanks to @ripe thicket <3 i wouldnt have improved so much without her help
ooh very nice
:3
also im exploring ways to draw eyes
prolly gon make my own little tutorial book so i can remember
wow dizzy you really improved!!
Does anyone have any tips for drawing arms because I just can't.
thats a bit vague like that, whats your specific trouble with em?
Well, basically I'm trying to draw proportionate arms. However, every time without fail they always look just... wrong. Like, the elbow positioning is always off and they're always too wide if you get what I mean. Like, the top part of the arm is too wide and looks wrong connected to the shoulders and then the bottom part is too skinny so it kinda looks like an upside-down triangle.
if that makes any sense
so it kinda looks like
()
()
I love the eyes and hair π₯Ί
Izzy I'm so happy to see how much you improve over time
awww tysm eva I love you β€οΈ
Tigerlily un
Um*
I can like
Show u a sketch base to help u out?
Yes please
@sly pawn draw a rectangle for the upper arm and triangle for the forearm
Okay, thank you so much!
also lily im trying to make this as accurate as possible, im sorry if its not very 100% good
for proportions id recommend checking out loomis's books or just the illustrations in them
without a picture im not really sure how to explain the width, but with the elbow position its usually slightly higher than where your belly buttons is, like if you ever see a woman with a hourglass figure theres that dip where the width of their hips ends, its in line with that
@lament turtle It's alright! I would just like to see an arm that actually look like an arm. Unlike mine lol.
alrighty
np! using a lot of refs can also help you better remember and understand proportions
Yea!
That looks SO GOOD I-
i hope it helps!
Okay thank you! That makes a lot of sense actually
i sketched it out pretty quickly so it might be more or less accurate
It looks fantastic tho!
-< thank you! tell me if it helps :)
It definitely does!
im glad :)
Now I see I've been drawing the top part wayyy too long
oh i used to do that too lmaoo
lower arm+hand should be about the same length as upper arm
Okay
^^
thats why i always put lines
the green lineart is the base sketch, and purple is how you shape it with the lineart
Yeah
usually the top seems longer but that's bc of the shoulder
also make sure to always thin out the wrist and to make the skin near the elbow fold a bit more round if ya know what i mean
I didn't realise how dainty female shoulders can be when they're not just a straight line slightly diagonally downwards
Yea
yup! i added arrows to show u that
its good to use some forms for the torso too, ppl usually like to draw a ribcage shape and a vague pelvis shape but a ball and a 3d trapezoid can replace those 2 for simpleness sake
i dunno if u can see the shapes i did
I see what you mean
i can see the shapes thats why im specifying form, its better to start with something 3d so you can visualize it better
but using circles for the shoulders help me all the time
always had a hard time with that so i really gotta force myself to think in 3d
same xD
Finna crash this party rn
Also, use flowy lines instead of straight lines π
Like, those arms looking hella stiff
i also like to draw the vague ribcage shape but add extra line to signal its 3d-ness
to try and help lily out
Flowy lines and dynamic poses yeah
Ah gotcha
i usually never draw as stiff and... robotic
it was just to give her guidelines lmfao
for proportions guides its better to draw it in a resting pose to show what you mean better
Thank you guys for the help! It's really helpful to me. I can kinda get the basic likeness of a body, it's just trying to add life to it instead of having stiff lines and it looking so dead
OH also keep in mind the knuckle line isn't straight
it's like... a bit lower from the index to the pinky
i always forget that and my hands end up looking wonky as HELL
I donβt know if this helps but hereβs a sketch im working on
the face is triggering me bc i cant seem to do it right but the rest of the body seems to work well
legs look too short imo, in a pose like that the thig comes up about collarbone height and the legs themselves are as long as torso+head
hmmm.
she's not holding her legs up to her body tho
Okay okay, I've just been doing a sketch and it already looks better than before
id say the head is a bit too big for the shoulder width too but that can work out as a stylization thing if you are going for a sort of chibi stlye
they're further away from her chest
legs are still short tho
hmmm
if she were to pull them all the way in theyd be about tity height
i'll try to work on that, already started on the lineart so i'll have to modify that too but im sure i can do it
you're right, i see it now!
ayy
also i see what you mean about the head, although i think it's mostly due to her having large hair
also this is a lesser known proportional thing but when i heard it it blew my mind: your feet is as long as your fore arm (without hand)
When drawing a head, is it better to draw the two cross lines first or the shape?
^
^
Okay, thank you!
you can do a circle like i do or do a circle with a semi circle square for the chin
the crosses are for making it easier to visualize it as a ball
also guides for placement
Yeah
Also, you can never go wrong with triangles
^
I've been working on jawlines recently and I'm slowly improving
Just fucken putem everywhere
Why not lol
Oh flip. Hands I don't even want to talk about
oh i could help u with hands
hands are like... my proudest drawing skill lmfao
It would be so appreciated
along with hair but yea
I love doing hair
Once a triangle cult member, always a triangle cult member
wOAh
okay um imma pull u up a few sketches of hands to help u out and then i can show u in context
holy shit nathex
thats awesome
also
Flipping hell
PROCREATE GANG
Procreate gang π
laughs in pencil and paper

Paper feels so much better than my ipad since i dont have one of those fancy paper screen protectors
^^^^^^^^^^^
Feels like my pen isnt even touching the screen lmao
ok I'm starting a sketch now
SAME
Lmao
I HATE IT
lmaooo
okay lily ill make u a hand guide!
it might take me longer than the other guide but imma try
EVERYWHERE
i mean i'd suggest using a variety of shapes
Yeah thatβs probably smart
Yeah
but its getting lonely here in my triangle cult
triangle cult population: me
