Late but symbol drawing is when you draw without the volume of the thing you're drawing in mind, understand that the surface you draw on may be flat but if you want proper perspective then an understanding of 3d space is key

so basically my tablet pen is starting to drag even when lifted half an inch off the tablet
as in i take my pen off of the tablet, but it's still drawing/dragging the navigator/moving the scroll bar/etc
is there any fix to this besides the stupid "mapping with mouse" option because that one kinda works but it still happens, just much more minutely but it's such a pain to draw with

my guess is that this is my tablet starting to die on me because it's been two years and that's usually the lifespan of it after heavy use in my experience with the cheap tablets
i have hope it's otherwise tho

from my experience i had an old tablet that would move the mouse or draw even when im not using the pen as well. i think it just means that it's getting old unfortunately. i was able to deal with it for about a year or so by taking the plug out and plugging it back in or restarting the services. as it gets older, it got harder to really deal with it tho

The idea was to make a new member of the Tapu Island Guardians who's shell closed into a semblance of another animal

So I decided to take the Hawaiian legend of the Mo'o, dragon geckos, and work that concept into a design!

Tapu Mo'o
Dragon/Fairy
Ability: Scorched Surge- Disables all entry hazards and sets Scorched Terrain on entry. Scorched Terrain- All entry hazards are disabled.

Throughout the Alolan islands, reminders of a lost 5th Tapu remain etched into the stones of the earth. Draconic heads overseeing waterfalls....ridges of bones jutting from below. These are all parts of Tapu Mo'o, a draconic creature said to be Alola's most powerful protector. However, its power was too great, and it left the earth barren and torched in its wake. The other Tapus were born out of necessity to restore the islands wherever Mo'o went. Eventually, Mo'o was put into a great slumber, with the only memories of it taking form in nature's stones.

*Inspired by the Mo’o, a mythical Hawaiian gecko/dragon

@fading hawk are you shading with a yellow-black? That may be why; the character’s skin seems sallow. The pink highlights of the lip also feels warm tone, which can clash

Just switching to a red-black for shading will bring warmth / blood even in a pale figure

Here’s an example of a pale skin tone with a red undertone

The best tip i learned abt coloring humans is to use the shade that is on the lips on the person in varying opacities for shading, and then using an analagous color scheme for variances in shading, depth, and texture

However- if youre going with a fantastical element and drawing say, a vampire, going with a cool desaturated blue or purple for the undertone can give off the sense of the undead

Yellow and green undertones can seem bery sallow on very pale figures due to the lack of a secondary chroma giving the person “life”. It’s why a mid tone person with a yellow undertone doesn’t look sickly compared to a light tone person, and why a dark tone person can have a purple undertone while the midtone person will look sick

That’s a crazy oversimplified explanation but i hope that helps! It looks great so far and just needs a subtle color shifting

if you have an art program like csp, using three dimensional models for different body types and then drawing like. the circles and triangles for the shapes in them over it and then removing the model and filling out the details from there is a good way to practice drawing figures.

you basically turn the model into a stick figure base and then work from there.

you can probably do the same thing just tracing over a reference photo and turning it into a stick figure to study the pose.
