(it's a whole lot of practise as you can see despite knowing the theory in practise I also screw up ๐ Blacky has really good perspective drawings you can look at theirs as well if that helps)

it give that separation of clothing. If she had bare arms without the line would be more advisable (but also then you could add a slightly different line)

so for bare arms you want to (depending on the direction of the light source) shade the back a bit so it defines the shoulder and possible the shoulder blade
or still chose for a fabric
but like I said you intuition is important. I expect myself to deliver the best work beyond my capabilities, which is simply not possible. So the best place to start (based on personal experience) it to learn how to be okay with what you made even if it's on a very slight satisfactory level. The fact that you observe and practise will make you better

I do the same thing
I had formal training but because of physical issues my whole context changed. So now I am just happy when I can create something (even though I still am my own worst enemy)
Stay in that comfortzone where you feel you're learning something even if you can't see the improvement straight away
if you're even a tiny bit curious or passionate you will change angles and do different stuff, essentially creating a different comfort zone

I think its okay to be hard on yourself to a certain point when you are still learning and all but you also need to remember that yourself also need that pat in the shoulder to remember "hey you have done pretty well this far!" ^^

what I'd advice (even if you don't get it perfect) is to make a really rough sketch of what you want it to look like.
Perspective drawing takes commitment and studying so if you have little experience lower your bar off expectations, or try to start at the basics

There's a good practice btw for learning perspective, drawing a perspective cube in many different angles can increase your grasp on the subject greatly for how simple that advice is

this is a really basic thing, even less in depth
but it might give you more of a clue
Going from the birds eye perspective to the eye level is tricky indeed and probably reacquires a bigger understanding (I have too little energy atm to go into more specific feedback)
So the 'easiest' practise you could do (maybe) is to draw your current reference in the perspective it is already in. Or start with basic blocks like most videos, books and artist would recommend for starters.
My opinion still remains that, just make a rough sketch of what you think it should look like, without the perspective grid and see if you can correct it later by learning perspective (perhaps as a different process) which ever gives you the most joy
not sure how helpful it was, but that's my two cents XD

So, i've been having this idea for a while for a fic, where the MC forgets about his grandfather letter, and keeps slaving away at Joja, eventually climbing the corporate ladder until they become an important manager. The years pass, and the MC is now rich and powerful within Joja, but each day feels like its eating him alive. The reason the MC goes to Stardew Valley is to fix some tax problems since their grandfather passing they've become the legal owner of the farm, so they take a monthly leave in order to fix the tax problem and try to find a buyer fo the farm.
I'm still not sure what would happen next, but i wanted to know if this sounds too dumb.

Hey Jev, it's not a thing I am familiar with. When I searched I couldn't find any good references. It seems that when people draw tails they either have it coming out of trousers, underneath a jacked and even have a part of the clothing cover a tiny bit of the tail.

Note that in Abby's model, there's actually a gap between the top of her shoulders and the bottom of her cheeks.
You're going to have to adapt the character's model for Stardew Valley more than adapt Stardew Valley for the character.

I really like that the witch you made appears more middle aged. Like I don't expect her to be some hot young waifu bait, valid as that interpretation is. I also think moving away from a large nose moves away from certain witch stereotypes which are linked or rooted in antisemitism. I agree that the bottom right edges into interpreting her as high, and to be honest, the weird little tentacle or whatever that is too the left of her face is distracting and seems unnecessary. Perhaps it should be matched to the fringe on the other side of her head more so it doesn't look so out of place.

Ahhh! Cool idea, however I still think it loses me, because all the other hat changes are much more subtle and more symmetrical, if that makes sense? I think you could still have the hat looking like angry teeth though, that's more clear now, and would be more clear if her eye brows were in a more angry position.
Still this is clearly a different and nuanced take than "hot witch waifu" I've seen a lot on Nexus so for that alone it gets a ton of points for creativity.

her eyebrows are in the neutral position because it's meant to be this one-time panel where she is very angry, but she's trying to hold herself back because she knows she has some.. problems. that's why her neutral portrait has a shadow over her face cause shes stated as "intense" so i read that as you dont really know what shes thinking..
if she was really angry with those eyes i'd think it would be bad haha

Hmm ok might I suggest then, a less narrowing of the brows than the one where she clearly is very angry, if possible, and then it might help if her mouth expression was indicative of that "holding back" feeling. Maybe like something that shows a slight clenching of teeth, like she wants to scream at you and is holding it back?

Another thing to consider, if she's angry or upset and holding back from something that would hurt everyone even worse, some tears in the eyes just about to flow for the very first time on her expression would be something to consider, like most of the time she'd never show that right? But in that state, hard to really control, would demonstrate the intensity of what she is feeling

Spoilered my response ||I think it's good that she hates a bunch of stuff the wizard likes I think that it's nice that it adds another character who likes poppy but I think one thing that would maybe be appropriate would be liking most gems maybe except for the ones that are common, like I do think it makes sense she likes uncommon or cool gems but not necessarily things like quartz. i think because the character is so stylised its gonna be difficult to fully capture the details , especially if youโre trying to do it on such a small scale, but maybe work more on the general shape of them ? longer legs, larger feet etc. ? also i think adding some small details like the white sleeves/gloves, the yellow on the feet.

Definitely make it more slender than the usual sprite, a tad taller and change the facial proportions a bit

I picked it up. There's a LOT of pricey software in the bundle. Corel Painter = just painting software. CorelPaintShopProUltimate = photoshop with a whole lot of extras thrown in. It was a pain to install because they don't want you to install anywhere but the default install folders and I screwed it up, but it seems to work very well. Also comes with some expensive video capture/editing software, Pinnacle Studio, which I haven't touched yet.

you can but the thickness of the ink lines will shrink along with the size
so if you drew something big, drew another thing next to the big thing and then shrunk it, the difference in brush size will be noticeable depending on how much you shrink it
a way to fix that is by copying the layer the thinner lineart is on and then merging the layers to create a thicker line
