Okay, Autodesk Sketchbook actually has a built in gradient tool. Press the paint bucket and select the linear fill or radial fill ( the two boxes with the gradients on them) and then press the area you want to fill in ( you might need to adjust the tolerance or sample all layers ), and then select which color you'd like to use.

Yea I wouldn’t go overboard with it if it’s not your thing, but just where they’re standing.
Otherwise add a little bit more snow around their feet so it looks like they’re sinked a bit.
Might also do the trick instead of shadows

@pastel iris it looks great! The trademarks of Italian cut are fitted at the curve of the waist and arms so there is to be minimal bagginess there. However the pockets are supposed to be flap less (unless that's the detailing of the open pocket seamwork), and I have to say good eye on the George lines!! When you do draw the button, don't forget it'll also be high up. Good work so far. o/ are you going for more a Neapolitan cut?

Neapolitan style is a type of Italian cut suit, deriving from Naples. And yeah pretty much with the pockets, just lines. George lines are the upper flaps of the suit! The triangles near the neck.

The hard truth is that only if you're popular you'll get commissions left and right at decent prices.
Be prepared to get only two-three commissions for MONTHS, or hardly none at all. Try to sell yourself out hard - draw anything and everything with a good fandom with a good demand.
But don't expect to sell commissions for like 100$ a piece right off the bat. But don't sell your art for 5$ a piece either - you're too talented for less than minimum wage.
Be prepared to think that your art is shit. That nobody wants to buy from you. That people look over your hard work only to buy from someone else. Be prepared for the worst thoughts.
But dont give up!! That's the important part.

My rule of thumb with pricing commissions is that you shouldn't go any lower than minimum wage
So like... Consider how much time you take to do your art, break it down into hours if you can, then go something like $10 per hour
Then once you get more demand for your commissions, you can go higher (considering what your audience can afford ofc)
Idk, it doesn't apply to all art necessarily but I think it's decent if you're just starting out

Gotta agree with what was said above. It's hard work to keep a constant prescence and build your name until its recognisable enough that people come to you, before that its consistent advertising and working servers if you're gonna use discord like I do. Even if its just saying hello or joining in conversations. Its slow and hard. and you gotta keep looking for new outlets that want your type of art too.

You should def consider drawing for active fanbases :) A lot of the time, fanart helps you get a lot of attention
And don't be afraid to look for people who need art done! Most of my commissions have come from people on Reddit who were looking for tattoo designers. They decided my style wouldn't suit a tattoo and asked for illustrations instead, which was honestly really helpful

but if you really want to stick with commissions: easiest and highist paying work I ever did was stuff like custom game art, if that makes sense. I'm really good at mimicking styles and used to hang around pet sites and game forums a lot, and people will pay a lot for custom pet art or game mods

personally i've always seen violet as a slightly red-er version of purple,,, like i see purple as being in between indigo and violet. i think i might see it that way because rainbows are either thought of ending with indigo + violet or just purple, never swapped around because purple is too close to the other two on a palette to tell them apart in a rainbow

Anyway I came here with a question:
I want to get back into using my colored pencils (the full set of prismacolors SHALL NOT JUST SIT) and I just watched a Do's and Don't's of using them to freshen up on what I had learned in class
However one thing they mentioned that is new to me is using solvent in order to really blend the pencils, and I loved the look of it afterwards
Does anyone have any experience with using solvent for colored pencils?

It might react a little better or worse depending the pencil.
If you struggle with printing paper, try one of those sketch pad things you can buy, generally they're a cheap option to get thicker paper.
Or go for aquarelle paper 🙂

i actually tend to use vellum paper with my colored pencil artworks! I haven't used printing paper in a v long time. I think I've heard of aquarelle paper--how is it different from vellum?
as for the pencils, they're prismacolor colored pencil and prismacolor watercolor pencils

You MIGHT be able to get away with cardstock but I wouldn't recommend lighter weight things
