it was for a playmat when i was just starting out and i finished it entirely
the person went to the same game store i went to and we would stay there playing cards for like hours on end so i thought nothing of charging him, plus i considered him pretty okay as a person since i knew him for almost a year by that point
my naivete would be my downfall and once i had finished the mat, he not only didn't care about the commission enough to pay for it anymore, but even had another mat done by someone else in the time i had taken to make it (see: about a month, since i was not only working a full-time job at the time, but also it was a very detailed mat and i wanted it to be okay)
sadly, the mat was so specific that i couldn't just resell it. i felt very spiteful since not only did it take up so much of my time and effort, but also materials. i should have gone after him to at least cover the cost of replacing them, but i was young and naive and didn't know how to handle those sorts of issues. also: social anxiety in the first place, so confrontation was a no-no for me at the time.

@hollow birch you're getting somewhere. Try use less soft brushes for hard shapes, maybe using one giving a sharpe edge to he moon and then using a airbirsh to make a glowing look would look better

An artist I follow has a clear price sheet with two styles and 6 total options (2 styles x bust, waist up, full body), a backlog of consistent work, and prices that all landed on whole numbers
I'd suggest NOT charging the buyer for PayPal fees. Instead work it into your pricing. Nothing is worse to a buyer than being nickel and dimed.
And also know when to have comms open and closed :0 Like... I'm a dumbass and had comms open at the complete wrong time and currently nstruggle to find time for the ones I have atm
