When I first started actually spriting these guys I didn't really have the artistic ability to fully realize the more complicated concepts, and as a result I overcompensated by adding details

Colors, patterns, etc.

Now my sensibilities have updated some and I keep things more coherent and focused

its called dot pen and there’s the full and colour brush that works fine too

for me personally i don't see elliott as much of a type to be super direct but it also just depends on how u write him

I'm gonna give an example because I wanna talk about my OCs but I got like, that doctor who's really bad at actually taking care of herself because of other elements of the story (a magic war, death in her family)

and I bring one older man she's into and boom she gets better

and I kinda don't want that

I want it to feel more like, she's happier because he pushes her in the good but he's HER growth

Take time with her separate from that man and showcase how she's improved

and I'm so bad at that

He can improve her, but have her improvement show through her personal efforts

Even have her reflect on him helping her, just make sure she has a chance to herself to reflect on how she's changed

Avoid the mistake of "She's better now because plot demands it", don't be afraid to take time to show growth directly instead of implying it

like my oc summer for my main story and my oc turin were very involved with one another, but then turin 'dies' and she hyperfocuses on like dark arts and stuff because she wants vengeance on the ones who killed him
