I'll have to see if I can find the article because it was really neat, but basically, quark was The Software for publishing back when, and they had this huge dominance. But they were slow to adapt and didn't support some platforms well enough, and we're expensive af to boot. Then in design came out, and did... Everything quark did and some stuff it aisnt but should have, at a fair price point, while supporting more os-es. And killed quark, except now Adobe is being dumb
