@lament turtle (jumped to here to avoid spam) it plays quite a bit like Paper Mario if you're familiar! the game will follow a duo as they explore different areas of the world each with their own self contained story and puzzles and interactive turn based combat (press keys with good timing etc)

The hard drive itself should be recoverable. You might need to buy a $10 caddie and maybe a SATA connector but you should in theory be able to hook it into your PC no problems.

Provided you have a competent IT dude you should be able to ask nicely to have it recovered. Otherwise you could try asking nicely if you can take it somewhere to get the hard drive extracted so that you can recover "important work".

My oldest oc was actually a shapeshifter. A young man bitten by a venomous snake as an infant but instead of dying the venom infused into his blood and mutated him into a snake-man hybrid. I used him for roleplays though, and I've never drawn him before. :0

I think for me it's more a matter of finishing an idea, or even knowing where to begin. Sometimes I can get an idea pulled out in a few hours, or a few weeks, but it can also take months if I'm busy with other work. It can get discouraging. And that's just me working on my own stuff/commissions. On the other hand, I won't know unless I try drawing fan art and not giving it a go won't solve anything.

mod-wise though i like seeing people's interpretations but there aren't many i like unless they stay closer to the vanilla ver

Yeah. I can agree with keeping closer to the original! That is kind of why I ended up spriting the SDV cast! I felt like I don't mind them, but they can definitely be cleaned up a little.
As I am working on my own portraits, two things are important for me. Am I capturing the spirit of the character? Am I making sure that I am clearly distinguishing who they are (Through age, hair, eyes, etc.).
It is kind of cool getting inside my head and imagining how my interpretations would talk to me through looks alone.

What I do is to select the thing I want to make glow, create a new layer, expand the selection, fill it with color and apply some gaussian blur

So I've preemptively set it up so you can't walk on the "circle". Which does make sense in a way. You don't want to go walking on Wizard's magic stuff all willy-nilly.
