Not sure what you're drawing with, but having smoother lines would def make it look a bit cleaner. If you have a tablet, try to draw lines in one quick motion, since if you go slower it makes the lines kind of wobbly

for backgrounds you dont really want it to be too demanding or it will take away focus from the main focal point of the image (usually the character if there is one) unless you want to do more like a graphic designy sorta thing

how they have the image mostly monochromatic, the border sort of thing being darker and then the only real drastic change in hue is the eyes so your eyes naturally go there

but if you blur your eyes you can still get the general picture which is really good
