I'm not sure I could really work with a cintiq.

I have a Surface tablet, and it can get hard to draw some details when my hand covers the drawing.

Yeah, I can't really do much about my fingers getting in the way here and there.

my wrists don't do well with strain.

I do own a Surface, which is good for many things.

and a normal intuos 3.

I feel like at this point all tablets are on par unless you are aiming for specific models with extremely high pressure sensitivity

That Cintiq tablet with the clip studio paint software would be a huge jump for me,but again i won't rush things because expensive things won't make me better

I know some people who prefer their old friends
A friend has a cintiq and a bamboo and she keeps going back to her old bamboo

My intuos 3 is godly.

I have an intuos draw, too, but it's nothing compared to the intuos 3.

I want to try an iPad, I've heard really good things about drawing on them

those screen tablets seem neat, but once you've had practice drawing on a regular one and got that hand-eye coordination down I can't see how they give you any advantage

You sure will improve fast with a screen display tablet ...only if you draw a lot

I'd never draw on an ipad as a primary tool

nor an android tablet.
