well the backstory for the character is that they're basically an orphan and had to survive on their own (mainly in the wilderness but occasionally comes in town to uh steal things i guess) which is why everything is torn and basically worn down
their outfits has to be light for them to be able to sneak around or move around quietly

Like... if they're out in the woods, they probably wear the cloak to protect themselves from the elements.
but if they're in town, they blend in better with a simpler outfit, like the third one.

I did some reading of messages I missed while AFK and come bearing general positivity and vague advice as someone who’s been drawing seriously for 9 years and attending college for art.
Art is hard. Improvement takes a long time, and no two people improve at the exact same pace. And practice does make perfect, but you wanna work smart not just hard.
Learn how to do a gesture drawing. Go people watching and fill a few pages with 30 second gestures.
Learn about the composition of the human face and how far apart stuff usually is. That can help make faces look a lot more natural even if you do cartoony stuff
Practice getting different values out of your pencil. Even if it’s in the margins of your notebook. Learn how to break complex objects down into simpler ones.
I could go on and on but Discord has a character limit so I can’t OTL

it kinda depends on what kind of commission theyre askin for, if its just a sketch commission, i do it for cheaper since its just whatever
and then theres some wiggle room for the complexity of the character

imo i think you should set a base price for a certain amount of outfits u design, and then do additional price fee for any other designs they want? prices are ultimately up to you but i would try to time yourself (or guess how long it took you to do that ref sheet)

Before and after!! My ketogenic diet is off to a good start; this is my attempt at a 'keto pizza'. It has an egg and cheese based crust (i used a mozzarella/provolone cheese mix), and te crust is the first pic! we did it at school with a model and big ass brown paper (100x70cm) and charcoal and by the end of it , maybe after doing like 15? of those I could see how much more accurate I was, it was cool
obviously you can adapt it to what you'd be able to do, so sketchbook at the park or bribing a roomate to stay semi-still for 5 minutes works also

Also, biggest learning thing someone ever told me is when drawing a figure always start by marking the very top and the very bottom, so for someone standing you'd make a lil line at the top of the head and at the feet, and then derive proportions from there. it will change ur life if you dont already do it

and yeah, the upper and lower point thing is not like a Rule or anything but because a big problem I had when first drawing from life on a big big paper was that I'd end up having to cut the feet or havign a hand be off frame and that made the pose count as Failed, my prof gave me that advice and it was way easier to get everything proportional

About programs, I used Krita and loved it, but only for painting
The cheap drawing tablet I have doesn't interface well with it for line drawing.
Every line was actually like 50 little actions, so undoing was practically impossible
But if I had a better tablet(I feel this is a legitimate excuse), I would have practiced drawing with it instead of looking for a different program.

Considering it was done in ms paint (which I believe should have a line tool of some sort, I've seen it used before) on a trackpad, looking good! I'd definitely advise investing in a mouse though if you want to continue in ms paint. While tablets are indeed nice, I prefer personally using a mouse with programs like Gimp and Ms paint which have strong pixel potential.

There's an old Ijiero proverb that my papa used to tell me; "Don't love the fire because you get burned. You deserve more, Judei. Remember that.". It was a lesson he neglected to learn in his youth, and paid the price for later, as he told me. He was a solemn man, but nonetheless wise in his old age.
It was late December of my twenty second year when my papa fell ill. The Ijiero had always been a more or less secluded tribe, and as such we didn't seek medical help. Death was commonly embraced in our culture, not feared. On January 4th, three days after the new year came, my grandpa passed away in his sleep.
A few days beforehand he had called for my family to come to his dibâ, where he had been resting for the past week. It was a small shack with sparesly decorated rooms and smelled faintly of rosemary and pine. I had been told that it was my grandmother's favorite smell. The tribe otipfa let us in, and led us back to the bedroom where papa was.
"Ah, Judei." He managed while semi-struggling to sit up in his bed, "Come, Mariua, you too. Sit."
My ma was the first to sit down, and as she did she reached for my papa's hand. I chose to kneel at the bed rather than sit. I don't quite remember what I had said to him, but I know that I was choking up. My papa was the only father I knew, and I wasn't ready to see him go.
"Easy, Judei.. It's okay." Ma comforted me, and I could see the pain in papas eyes while watching me. Even in sickness, he was still the most caring man.
The Ijiero are an indigenous tribe that I've made up for the region where Stardew Valley is set, and the words used are made up as well

The main character, Judei, is a 22 year old man at the start who has received the deed to the land that his grandfather owned when he was young. The story will follow Judei's struggles through his early adult life, and there will be elements of racism as well as homophobia. I'm including events that happen in Stardew Valley as well as my own headcanons for the game (i.e. racially and culturally diverse villagers, religion, etc)

I'm doing a way different take on Stardew and "small town life" since it mostly gets romanticized and as someone who's from a small town, I know that sometimes it's not all its cracked up to be. There's going to be elements of racism/profiling, general prejudices, noncon, and other things as well. I'm a little nervous to go with it as a Stardew fanfic because the game itself is so lighthearted and I have so many dark ideas for my story that it's just.. Meh. Idk.
