hmmmm i guess both? i more or less understand how the lighting aspect works, it's just accurately portraying darker skintones since there's such a wide range of them! like cool vs warm, plus all of the undertone colors as well

like my issue is that with digital painting too is that i can't just mix the colors i need. like i gotta go into the color picker and hope i'm picking the right shade of brown that i want as a base

I already did start painting the skin a couple nights ago but i'm coming back to it and it's veryyyyy hmm.. like i'm going for warm golden undertones and it's coming out a bit like mustard

i think part of the issue too is that i painted it at 3 am and with the brightness balancer i have installed, it distorts colors at night

Honestly the guide helps get a good balance to work off of. A lot of artists go too red or too green with dark skin (myself included)

i think that's an easy mistake to make too, because quite honestly, i wasn't taught how to color skin until i took a college painting class and honestly even then it was more of my own volition to tackle a darker skin tone with a portrait study that we did and it was such a good learning experience

but with that considered, i still used a layering technique that's difficult to feasibly accomplish in digital mediums so i do want to learn how to quickly and accurately a) pick good colors and b) use them effectively

That gpu benchmarks a little low, but not necessarily any worse than other similar mobile gpus
You have enough overall processing power that it shouldn't be overheating like that unless other things are running in the background. I'm not an IOS person at all, but you should be able to pull up the computer's performance and see what's taking up processing power at any given time. Often it's more about what's running behind the scenes than what's up and "visibly" running.

Try using these steps and see if it helps any. If not, it's possible something's wrong with the heat syncor vents or something else.

Example: Day one, draw Narco’s oc. Day two, draw Jade’s.

You do not have to start the challenge the same day as everyone nor do you have to finish the same day either. But the goal is to finish your drawing in a day.
