So if you're writing the events of Spirit's Eve and want to skip to mid-winter, describe in a sentence or two how the temperatures dropped and the dead autumn leaves became burried under two weeks of heavy winter snowfall, then intersect that with sensory action, such as boots crunching through the snow, then show who is walking.

It also depends on the scope of the timeskip. If you're just skipping through sections of a day you don't really have to write it as a "timeskip" - you can just open the next paragraph with a "By nightfall, he ___" or sumdat.
