People over do the jobs aspect as they don’t damage you that much and you can mostly ignore them

@thick hedge you can turn off the monsters in combat farm, and they're not super dangerous until combat level 10 anyway

This is the first farm where I am going for a more aesthetic look. This is the last day of Winter Year 1. Missed the community center by one truffle. The stones south of the shrine and east of the cabin will be fruit trees. The oak, maple, and pine trees in clusters are tapper trees. The barn/coup will have two pastures split by the gates. Thoughts?

Took a long time to rearrange and figure out how I wanted everything to fit aesthetically and still give me the level of production that I look for in my games. i used a mod to increase the chance of growing a giant crop. this farm is basically my 'dream farm'. i've worked half-and-half on it. sometimes using the cheat mod & other times just playing through it normally

when I say "made" I mean "I mapped it out on my own plan, then deleted most of the buildings/crops when you asked"

not having anticipated sharing this, I didn't distinguish strongly between invincible bushes, bushes that can be cut down, and the tree stumps that can be cut down, but respawn if you don't build/lay a path over them

nor do I claim it to be a perfect or exhaustive list

but it's a start, and it's probably close

the red tiles can have items placed on them, but are unbuildable

as a general rule, purple tiles near the edges are invincible, while those in the open can be cut down

Garden pots don't respond to sprinklers, so growing anything in bulk in garden pots is just asking for pain. As such, you really have two options.

1. decorative plants! This is awesome. Put the pot in your house and plant a summer spangle.
2. utility plants. Put the pot in your house/in a shed and plant something that gives you utility, eg. A coffee bean (for coffee) or hot pepper (for pepper poppers) or kale (if you're courting Alex). Utility plants typically don't need to be grown in bulk, 3-5 is typically sufficient.

Oh, we'll between my spouse and I, I love staying on the farm and he likes to adventure in the mines and such.

So providing a large yield and getting it up to the dream size I pursue, I can't do alone/with the basic tools.

We've been saving the resources for it now for 2.5 seasons.

And still may not get it before fall is over.

It's very much like a big investment for our little farm. Spending twice as much on upgrades for our homes, backpacks, and tools. But then we only have the one size farm. It's hard on the wallet.

Especially since he's fainted in the skull caverns and we lost really good gear/items often when he wasn't prepared.

The tractor is so I can free up better time to adventure with him, but still make our baseline of crop profits to fund the adventuring.

Wondering if I could get some opinions/suggestions for how to layout my farm? I’m on the first year so I haven’t gotten too much cleared yet, and I have the normal default layout!

I go for max efficiency when I lay out my farm. Definitely go play around with the farm planner and move things around to see what you like.

My favorite part of anything I design though are teh three sheds at the top and my chests by the house. the shed by the greenhouse is for kegs and pickling, the one next to it in the middle is for furnaces and mining stuff, and the one closest to the house is for seed makers and to organize things. the chests to the left of my house is for fish - one for Ocean, Lake, River, and Misc. fish. In front of the house from left to right I have winter items/crops, fall, summer, spring, and then building materials, built things I don't need at the moment (spare roads, scarecrows, etc), and finally in front of the mailbox is my tools/food chest so I can leave some things behind when I go just to mine or just fish, etc.

Lighting rods 🙂 They produce batteries when lightning strikes them. Having them makes it less likely for lighting to strike your crops!

Barns have more space, but sheds have a better layout. Looking at space per gold, yes barns are better, but the inside is very messy and IIRC, have a very awkward optimal layout. Sheds have less, but IMO because of their better layout, could be more efficent

I would suggest more barns. 1 person can easily take care of what you got going on. Adding a barn for each animal, and filling it would be easy work for 3 people. Even more fields, because you have 3 times the amount of energy as a solo player

Because you also will need 3 times as much money for things like upgrades, backpacks, all personal stuff. You can funnel into a single set, but that's no fun

I'm personally planning for like, twice that many fields, 4 barns, 3 coops. No junimo huts though. I kind of like harvesting, plus you can get food bonuses.

ah! thanks so much! i actually accidentally added another house when setting up the farm, so no one lives in the third house. I'm just trying to create a super beginner friendly farm since the person im playing with only got it a few days ago.
my friend is just having a blast harassing the npcs by giving them sap lol, so i take over a lot of the farm work. im not thinking something super advanced, just something doable by 3rd or 4th year. I'm not really one to maximize profit, as long as its enjoyable for both me and my friend, its good.

i was lucky, i got a mushroom tree in the first year then it took like 5 years for me to get a bunch of mushrooms then i downloaded a tree mod and put them together

@zealous locust @drifting portal you can plant common (oak maple pine) trees off the farm. Till the floor with your hoe and put a tree seed there. (You can't plant where the floor can't be tilled. But you can plant after digging up an artifact spot, even where it would normally be untillable.)

I guess it doesn't help you plant stuff on the green meadow tiles in the forest, but it is something

and maybe rather than have machines outside, you could have them in a shed??
