@leaden canyon @tribal nacelle I took a look at the internals of the save file, it's missing data for the Feed Hopper object entirely. Which makes the game think that the coop doesn't have one.

Hey all, I have an small issue with the game and wanted to see if anyone else did

Playing multiplayer on switch, does anyone elses game pause/lag/freeze for about 3-5 seconds every few minutes?

Time does not pass in game, but movement stops, music keeps playing normally,, and my other player in the game can continue as normal. Also if there is an action that activates the controller vibration that continues as well (for example, if it freezes right when I catch a fish)

No, the guide doesn't list that specific issue, but clearing cache/restarting router/etc can all help connection issues in general

Microsoft is giving me the run around, beating around the bush about who's fault it is about their wording on the xbox which clearly states I can get a new game code to replace the one I have that wont work due to it being region specific.

So Epiphany's friend bought hte game for epiphany, but they're in different regions, so it's region locked and Epiphany can't play. Suggestion is to refund the game and transfer money directly so that Epiphany can self purchase

Do not have your hopes high about them 'fixing' it because gifts are region locked for a reason.

It's to prevent people from gifting games that are not legally allowed to be sold in a country, and to prevent gifting of cheap games to more expensive regions.

How so? It does not handle switching devices mid game very well

yeah, if I have the game running then the sound will be fine coming out the speakers, but if I plug in headphones, it won't switch the sound to the headphones. Same for the opposite direction. If I have the headphones in before starting the game, then the sound will come out the headphones fine. but if I unplug the headphones then it won't switch the sound to the speakers.

Yeah, most sync issues are due to connection issues. But CA has been working trying to reduce the item duplications when that happens (iirc), so it's worth reporting!

yeah, if I have the game running then the sound will be fine coming out the speakers, but if I plug in headphones, it won't switch the sound to the headphones. Same for the opposite direction. If I have the headphones in before starting the game, then the sound will come out the headphones fine. but if I unplug the headphones then it won't switch the sound to the speakers.

So I didn't notice until today (since I was playing the Switch version) that my Steam version just...freezes during the "ConcernedApe" screen right at the start since the last time I played (sometime in September, I think?)

Well, I'm glad you solved the problem. You can always launch the game not as an administrator next time to see if that step was necessary. And if you fixed the issue you don't need to provide a log, that's just helpful if you can't figure it out :)

  1. Uninstall XNA Framework, but don't reinstall it yet.
  2. Restart your computer.
  3. Open C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\assembly.
  4. In each subfolder, delete every folder that starts with Microsoft.Xna.
  5. Restart your computer.
  6. Launch the game by double-clicking pufferchick StardewModdingAPI again.

If everything is correct, it should still crash but you'll get a different error. Can you post a screenshot of the error?

Have a weird issue with the Steam version...
Game audio doesn't work at all (neither game nor title screen music) but I found a workaround, maybe some people will find this helpful:

Audio worked fine for the first few days of playing, suddenly doesn't work at all.
Not muted in Volume Mixer, not muted in game, not a driver issue, not an XNA issue, restarting didn't help, uninstalling the game didn't help, moving the save files didn't help (plus disabling Steam Cloud to make sure they don't reappear)

When I start the game and look at Volume Mixer, it shows a Stardew Valley icon under every device, and none of the Stardew Valley icons show any audio blips. Then they all vanish after a few minutes.

Tried downloading an older version, none of the 1.4 versions had working audio either...
Strangely, the audio in the first version of the game works, as does version 1.3.36 from March 2019.

What's the workaround? Just launch through SMAPI, apparently.
Really not sure why this works, might be that my Windows suddenly decided to mute anything that shows up in Volume Mixer as Stardew Valley; the old version works because it's listed as Stardew Valley.exe, and the SMAPI version works is listed as Stardew Valley 1.4.4 - running SMAPI with 2 mods

smapi comes with 2 mods, one that backs up your saves automatically and another to let you use commands like change the seasons and such, but it wont do anything to change your experience playing if u dont add any mods

Hey, guys, not sure if anyone else is seeing similar issues, but today my wife is unable to join our co-op world. When she tries, it just thinks for a few minutes and then says "Connection failed." We do use mods, but there was also the 1.4.5 today, so we're not sure what might be the source of the problem. We were last able to play together two days ago.

hey ya'll, I'm having a very specific problem with my game and I have no idea how to solve it or what's causing it, I don't even know if it's a mod that's causing it, but I figured I would post here anyways in case anyone else has encountered this glitch. Whenever I enter the wizards tower, my farmer completely disappears and doesnt appear to be anywhere on the map when I check the map locations, like they've completely despawned. When this happens I cant move or exit the building or do anything, the only solution is to restart the game or wait until 2am, this means I cant interact with the wizard at all which is depressing

I also have to idea how to fix the clash with PyTK and Content Patcher where they both want to provide map locations

@edgy tartan You have both Karmylla's Maps and SVE installed, but they aren't compatible. You need to pick one or the other. It's probably the cause of the wizard tower problem, since they both have their own versions of that map, which makes neither load and the coordinates be off. (You can also always debuge warp out via the SMAPI console, but #making-mods-general can help further!)

@ripe atlas Does it work without mods? You can always run without SMAPI by temporarily clearing your Steam launch options if you're on Windows, or running the Stardew Valley.exe chicken instead of the StardewModdingAPI.exe pufferchick.

Thank you @median crypt, it solved the issue with the wizards tower pink_heart ! I'm not quite sure why I didn't think to delete it before, but I'm kind of inept when it comes to this stuff so it's easier for me to just ask about it most of the time

No worries, Karm's used to be required for SVE but the latter has its own town and interior maps now, so it was a common problem for awhile there. #making-mods-general is the place to go for future mod troubles, though!

hello. i got SDV 1.4 on my android phone today, and was able to play just fine with mods. got home, and steam auto updated to 1.4.5 on pc. made some progress, and went to copy the save back to android, but now my android is giving me "version mismatched". do i have to wait until there's a 1.4.5 update for android?

Updates are released when they're ready. While it may have taken 3 months for 1.4 to make it to mobile, the work to bring Android from 1.3.36 to 1.4.4 is far greater than it will be to go from 1.4.4 to 1.4.5

While I wouldn't be willing to hazard a guess, but it's not going to take another 3 months :P

I haven't reviewed the specific changes in 1.4.5 yet, but the save format is probably backwards-compatible. So you could try editing the save file to just the change the version field from 1.4.5 to 1.4.4, and see if it works.

And even that does require the host to be online, the mod just means the host doesn't need to actively play. So the answer to the question is really no.

I made a test character in order to figure out how to back up my save files.

I went to %APPDATA%\StardewValley\Saves and made a copy of the test file. I deleted the test file, and put the copy somewhere else.

When I open up the game, it seems my test file is still there?? I thought it was strange, so I deleted the test file through the stardew valley game window. I closed out the game.

Afterwards, I put the copy of the test file back into %APPDATA%\StardewValley\Saves. However, it seems like my game file is gone.

It seems like my "experiment" didn't work? So how do you guys go about saving a backup file? and then when you want to open up your back up file again, how do you do that?

Steam automatically syncs your save files. If you deleted it while the game was closed and then relaunched it, Steam will put it back; and similarly if you add it while the game is closed, Steam may delete it.

The best way to avoid issues is to launch the game, then (while it's running) make any changes to the save files. Then Steam will sync those changes.

#

(Or you can turn off Steam save sync if you want.)

@median crypt We tried running without mods, on another save file (the original wouldn't open due to SVE I expect) and she still gets the connection failed error. I then followed each of the steps in the wiki, but we are still getting the error.

I host the world, and when my partner joins she finds the world, but then it just says "Connecting" for a minute, then "Connection failure". It just started after the 1.4.5 patch. At first we thought it might be mod-related, but even after going back to vanilla we're having the same problem

@quiet whale Long press and move finger works for me. But it's too buggy and so hard to place it where I want. The same goes for moving buildings. I haven't test on 1.4 yet.

Game was all well and good until I received the notification that the stork granted me a baby. Went to talk to my spouse, no dialogue came up. Kissed said spouse, walked a few tiles away, and the game crashed. Tried restarting the game and loading the save back up, but it got locked up and kept trying to load. I found the error log, if anyone knows what to make of it.
