Hey, I'm hoping to find someone who has a similar problem and has found a solution or has any ideas of a fix to try to fix this. I have been playing w/my roommates for about a week with mods (SDE and some other cosmetic/QOL mods) and we've had no issues until last night when we got on to play and I couldn't load into my character. I was able to join the server and pick my character but I was stuck on a black screen until I hit the back button to back out. Joining through LAN I was able to pick my roommates character and loaded in fine, and when my roommate joins through LAN and tried to pick my character he was having the same issue, so something with my character file specifically seems to be broken. Has anyone had this idea in the past or have any ideas of what to look for or how to fix this? Ideally I'd like to avoid having to create a new character as we would have to add in items and skill levels and stuff that I had before and it would be an inconvenience. THanks!

Why does my Stardew Valley have no sound? Other games, applications (e.g. YT) work fine. My system meets the game requirements and its not my sound settings (checked my volume for Stardew valley and its on 75% volume, but no sound or music). I've tried re-installing the game, restarting my PC, got 4 files in my sound folder (in XACT), which i think is the games sound folder, correct me if im wrong, and searching my issue online, but got no results/similar cases to mine. Is my game just messed up? xd

Yeah, it occurs every day. I have done the following:

Verify Game Files
Reinstall
Update
Break and replace existing auto grabber
Break and replace with a new auto grabber
Break, collect eggs, replace as above
Break, collect eggs, wait a day, collect eggs, replace as above
Remove auto grabber from coop and auto grabber from barn, wait a day, collect produce, replace coop only

@pliant basin just ran through several days to buy and grow up some chickens, placed the grabber down the day before they would start producing. Next morning, full grown chickens and eggs in the grabber. So it may be something specifically bugged. You've done our usual troubleshooting steps, so you might as well report it and see if CA can track it down :/

Hello, I'm having some issues and thought maybe someone has experienced this before.

I'm hosting a farm with my family. Full farm, wife and 2 kids. On year 2 now, been playing a while.

Well today, my wife and one son can join no issues, but my other son, once he joins and chooses his player, the screen goes black, but he can still see his mouse pointer (The stardew cursor), he can see the back button on the bottom right, he can see the music button and the windowed mode button. But it never connects.

The add to existing stacks thing? Takes anything from your inventory that also is in the current chest and moves the items automatically (gameplay questions belong more in #stardew-spoilers though)

From the switch's main page, select Stardew and click + or - (can't remember, but one opens options) the game version should be listed there as well as the option to check for updates :)

hi all, i am fairly new to SDV (only in year 2) and am playing on the nintendo switch. since i loaded the game today and confirmed i am on the 1.4 release, i have been unable to place items in any of the artisan equipment (i.e. place hops in a keg or milk in the cheese press or eggs in the mayo machine) before posting this, i double checked that the equipment was empty before attempting to place an item in the equipment. when i try to place the item in the equipment, the game makes a clanking noise - seeming to indicate its an action i am restricted from doing. Is this happening (or has happened) to anyone else? being new, i wouldnt be surprised if it were user error (doh!). Any suggestions?

The new default control scheme requires you to use A to put in a machine, Y is the "put away" button. That can be changed by turning off the "item stow" option though

I'm having trouble transferring a save from my PC to my Android. I transfered my save folder over to the saves folder on my phone and it just won't show up in the game on my phone. It will works on PC it just doesn't show up on my phone. The weird thing is that the file itself actually started on my phone I had moved it to my computer recently and it worked fine so I don't know what's going on.

Hey there~! I'm playing Stardew on PC multiplayer and my friend is hosting our game. He doesn't have any mods on his end. We're on the 20th day of Spring year 1 and the community center cutscene has not unlocked. Not sure what we should do? There were 4 players originally and now it's just 2. Everyone completed introductions, etc. We tried troubleshooting but it hasn't happened so we haven't unlocked the wizard. I should note we did see the cutscene where we meet Morris in Pierre's shop. Is there a fix for this? 👀

so i use a HDMI cord to connect it to my TV

I'm not super sure where this goes, I think it might be a corrupt host save (on my end since I'm the host) for a farmhand but it involves SMAPI:
I kicked a friend from a game while we all 4 were joking around not thinking anything of it, he tried to rejoin shortly after and is unable to do so, I get no errors on my SMAPI as host but he gets the following (Note: His game goes black as if its trying to load in to the server, but never does and I never see a join notice):

We've tried the following so far:

Closing the server and reopening it

Restarting his PC

Restarting my client

I also tested to see if this is limited to the farm he was kicked from, which it is, if I create a new farm he's able to join that just fine, but when I host the farm he was kicked from it throws that error.

I tried to unban him and got "no players are banned".

Any help is appreciated.

I'm having trouble with crafting a tea sapling. I did the Caroline heart event and got the crafting recipe the next day, and the tea sapling shows up on my crafting menu. However, for some reason, my game isn't registering any Wild Seeds, whether I have 2 or 20 in my inventory. I don't know if this is a bug or if it's because of mods.

I don't believe so, but I can list them out. I have: Automate, Better Garden Pots, Chests Anywhere, CJB Cheats Menu and Item Spawner, Content Patcher, Fast Animations, Joys of Efficiency, Lookup Anything, Tractor Mod, and UI Info Suite.

The easiest test is to load your game without mods (temporarily rename the mods folder or just launch the vanilla exe file) and see if you can craft the saplings then

If that doesn't work, then all I can say is that I looked at an old file on this possible bug, and the person who reported it, their only mods that were the same as yours had CJB Cheats Menu and Item Spawner and Lookup Anything. So it may(or may not) have something to do with those? I'm not a professional on this subject(Actually, barely know anything at all)😓

One method to isolate it is put half the mods back in and try again. If it works, you know it is in the other half, and if it breaks it's in this half. Keep doing that until you find the one that's to blame

Hello, I don't know what to do and I came looking for help. I'm trying to get all Steam Achievements for the game, but when it comes to the achievement of getting 4 relationships with 5 hearts (I believe the name is Cliques), Steam doesn't seem to aknowledge it and doesn't register the achievement, but I have the achievement in the Collections tab, and I can also aquire the Tiara in the hat shop. I have 19 10-heart relationships, 4 5-heart relationships and 2 1-heart relationship. Is there a way for me to fix this so Steam gives me the propper achievement? Or the only option is to make a new file and get the relationships again? Thank you in advance

Hi! Would anyone know what might cause that weird redish overlay on some part of the hoed dirt? I removed all my mods to check if it wasn't a recolor problem, but it doesn't change anything, and have verified the integrity of the game files, just in case, but it doesn't change anything (the screen shows the problem without any mods). And removing the non-red part and using the hoe on it makes it suddenly redish too. Which makes me question which one is supposed to be the vanilla color 🤔

Make sure you placed your save in the correct location based on https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Saves.
If you did that and it doesn't appear, try following the steps here https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Saves#Save_disappeared_or_doesn.27t_load.
If those don't solve it please say so

@ashen crystal Fyi I've reported that issue to the dev team but they were unable to fix it at that time. The issue occurs when launching the game in windowed/fullscreen then switching to other and then clicking load. Apparently it's just a tough one to fix.

Catching anything, even trash, will increase your farming xp, and the size of the fishing bar increases as you gain fishing levels... There are also foods that can increase your fishing skill temporarily, which may help a bit too. And just practise as a player may help too.

Probably not. Stardew multiplayer is peer-to-peer and there are some big technical hurdles for that on mobile.

Good afternoon. I seem to be experiencing a bug with the LVL 10 farming profession on my modded play-through.

I first noticed when it gave me 3 options at LVL 10 instead of 2 (image below), and every night it would make me pick them again, except I couldn't pick the one I had previously selected.

I'm not really familiar with that mod or its current status (the original author has been gone for some time), so you will probably have better luck in #making-mods-general as this is generally for vanilla issues :) Rather than a screenshot, could you upload your SMAPI log to #making-mods-general as well ? https://smapi.io/log has instructions for how to find it, though if pastebin is still having issues the parser itself might not work.

You could always give yourself the cash to try the reselect option, too.

I'm trying to get the group 10-heart event, & while I have 10 hearts with Alex, Harvey, Sam, Emily, & Penny, I haven't gotten the corresponding letters to start their events. I've gotten everyone else's 10 heart events with no problems, I even got the letter from Elliot even though that's not needed for his event to start, but its been about a week in game, & none of them have sent me their letters.

@abstract dawn this is not the first time I've heard of this issue, also go ahead and report that one.
@grave sluice the group event requires you to be dating all 6 of either the bachelors or bachelorettes. A mix of the two doesn't count, it must be everybody in one or the other (or both). As for the letters, what platform are you playing on? Modded or vanilla?

I know, & I'm dating everyone already! I'm just working towards the group event, but not getting the letters is hindering that. I'm on PC, playing modded. I have checked all of my mods to make sure none of them affect letters, events, etc, & as far as I'm aware, especially given the ability to get normal letters & other event based letters, that my mods shouldn't be causing this.

Looks like it is a "peer unreachable" error code from a quick search. Which means connection issues on one side or the other (https://www.psdevwiki.com/ps4/Talk:Error_Codes)

Hi! I'm not really used to using discord, so apologies if I asked in the wrong place.. I play on PC and noticed that the tea plant's sprite is broken. It shows up as a straight line both when planted and the one behind the shop.

Where can I find the tea plant in the xnb files? It would be easier for me to edit the png rather than redownload the game bec our internet connection's reaaally slow now

The tea plant is at the bottom of the TileSheets/bushes file, but when you reset your content files (see https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Player_Guide/Troubleshooting#Reset_your_content_files for how to do that), it only redownloads things that have been changed or are missing - it won't redownload your whole game. It's usually because of outdated mods, though. Are you using any?

It was never updated for 1.3, let alone 1.4 :) There's an unofficial update you can try https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Using_XNB_mods#Starblue_Valley and see if that fixes your problem. If not, you can bring a log over to #making-mods-general and we can try to help narrow it down! (https://smapi.io/log has instructions for how to find the log)

Hey. I'm getting a weird issue with SMAPI. Normal SDV uses 30-40% of Core 0 for me; but SMAPI with no mods installed is capping it out at 100%. (I hope this is the right place to ask)

Hey. I'm playing on switch. I updated this morning and now j can't use the Mayo/cheese machines, perserves jars, etc? I go to click it and it just shakes a little and nothing happens

there is now a setting so using a button "hide" the item you have on hand, you can disable this setting

It's a random chance every day for a quest to be generated, so it's not impossible (although definitely unlikely) that you might not see one for 10 days in a row

hi! ive been having issues with my game freezing frequently lately
i play on PC, and i noticed that the last time i played and it was crashing the crashes would happen every 20 or so minutes.
how can i fix this??
i havent been able to do anything other than just stop the game from task manager and relaunch it
i noticed that when it begins to freeze it’ll stutter and graphics get progressively slower until its completely frozen (i just noticed this because its raining in-game)
also i havent noticed the freezes occurring when performing a specific task. it seems to happen at random

Do you have anything like might intercept the game like Riva Tuner, MSI Afterburner, other "tweaks" type programs running? Maybe an antivirus running?

I haven't seen this specific thing in awhile so the suggestions I have are pretty generic. I'd start here https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Player_Guide/Troubleshooting#Nothing_happens_when_you_launch_the_game even though it's not your exact issue, with the "nothing happens" and the "game freezes" both. If nothing there fixes it we can try installing SMAPI to get a log, too.

It is! You can go to the Mayor's house - in the same area you get a divorce there's another book for money splitting/sharing/sending. #stardew-spoilers is a good place for general gameplay questions, though :)

Ok so Im not sure why but the multiplayer feature in my game doesn't appear to work. I dont even have the option to invite a friend to my game after i host a multiplayer game and i dont have the option to enter someones invite code either. It only lets me use an IP to join but that doesn't appear to work either. Ive tried to reinstall the game and i even want as far as refunding it on steam and buying it again but to no avail.

Sorry, all I saw was the have updated all mods and verified integrity, not that you'd already been to that specific page. That page is where we've collected everything that has managed to fix this for people in the past, though. If you've done everything on it already, you'll have to look into port forwarding https://portforward.com/stardew-valley/ or something like Hamachi https://www.vpn.net/. Connection issues are pretty hard for us to diagnose.

Mods shouldn't be affecting your ability to create invite codes, but just in case you could also temporarily clear your Steam launch options to run vanilla through Steam to see if you are able to do it without them.
