If you mean Family Library Sharing, they can't access your save files or Steam Cloud data. Saves are stored on the computer though, so if they login to their account on the same computer, those save files will be copied into their Steam Cloud Sync.

When he logged in on your computer, it copied your saves into his account and copied his saves onto your computer.

You can delete his saves while the game is running to delete them from your account.

Nope, as long as he's not logged in on your computer. It'll only sync to the Steam Cloud Sync for the account you're logged in to.

No worries, just getting rid of the obvious things. It's a problem some people have run into that we haven't been able to offer any alternative except running Hamachi for, but it's not necessarily the same for everyone and sometimes it's something simple :)

It will be a little late, but if you feel like trying out SMAPI later, you don't need to install separate mods but the basic SMAPI package is pretty helpful https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Installing_SMAPI_on_Windows informative logs for troubleshooting, save backups, and some debug commands for situations like this.

hi, i'm having an issue, i have the game through steam on my pc and have played it before. now, when i try to launch it, the screen turns purple for a moment but crashes right after that. i uninstalled the game, reinstalled, restarted my computer, verified the game files, and now i'm stuck

any help at all with figuring this out would be appreciated

the command prompt-like launcher comes up, makes me erase the crash files so it can try again, screen flashes purple, computer makes a clicking noise (???) and the game crashes. it's installed on an ssd from which rocket league launched without issue, and the ssd has enough space on it.

apparently i have smapi but can't uninstall it... so i'll try installing a new version

when that happens I just wait until the slower crop is fully grown and then I harvest everything at once. Idk if it's just me being superstitious but I'm almost sure it makes them all grow at the same time next round ;O

Hi everyone, I've been trying to play in multiplayer for 2 hours but it doesn't work. I try to "host" in my farm, which contains a cabin as required but when the second player try to join in, I get disconnected and so kicked out of the game. Can anyone help me ?

The first step to any bug on switch is to clear the cache and restart it.

Clear the cache of your switch: System ⇒ Formatting Options ⇒ Clear Cache
Restart your switch: Hold down the power button on the top of the screen for around five seconds ⇒ Power options ⇒ Restart

Firewalls and antivirus off for all players
Everyone logged onto Steam

Hey @grand plume, when you are around, Oofster#3356 was having trouble finding their save file after it disappeared in game. They checked using a USB connection and can see the folder, but it's empty. Cannot locate it at all on the device explorer

My friend and I haven't been playing too long, we're only Summer 1, but this started occurring last night, and I'm unsure about what to do.
The game crashes when I am in my farmhouse and my friend joins the game. It does not crash when I am not in my farmhouse and my friend joins, or if I am by myself in my farmhouse.

I'm sorry if this isn't the right place, I looked on the PYTK (I think it 's this mod causing the issue) bug forum on Nexus and found similar issues, but the developer hasn't responded to any of them.

Hi, my gf and I can no longer connect to each others worlds since we moved onto separate networks, the connection screen usually ends in disconnection and if it's lucky enough to get to loading into the server it still gets disconnected before anything can be done. Is this a common issue, and is there a good fix?

@devout widget keep in mind all consoles must be shut down from time to time. The Switch for an example has a tendency to keep data in temporary files and never delete them if you don't manually clear your cache or restart the switch, leading to game bugs and glitches

Alrighty, so I definitely need some help with some broken saves, if anyone can. My computer was going through some issues due to an old build of windows, but we finally got it all worked out. Now, unfortunately, it won't load any of my previous saves (Also, some don't even show up on the menu even though they are in the folders). Hey guys I'm not sure if this is a bug or not. I planted these 6 trees at the same time and they are at totally different stages of growth.
My questions are:
1- if the game let's you plant a fruit tree even if there's something in the 3x3 area (ex.: the greenhouse decoration which cannot be moved), shouldn't it allow it to grow too?
2- Is that why my top 2 trees haven't grown at all? I've seen people planting trees close to these decor and they grew just fine.
3- Is the only solution here to replant them? 😦 I swear on my PC game I planted trees in these exact same spots and they all grew.

Game will let you plant wherever, as long as the tile itself is clear. And most likely that is the issue, though I think they fixed that in the PC version

you can, but it's a hassle and most stuff runs worse via wine than via local, and my plan was to use a beat up laptop as a headless server for this.

It's not that MP is only available there, it's just invite codes specifically make use of their services to make it easier and ensure crossplay stuff works. Someone else might be able to answer in more technical terms, but it's not a case of someone deciding to make multiplayer only work for users of those clients.

re: port forwarding, probably, just depends how you're set up. (I did)

Maybe. All the original MP notes say you need to actually be in a LAN to use the LAN option, but I was told here that it's not actually true. You could try it, and if it works then it seems like that plan could work? 😄

That shouldn't work but you can always try! The IP connect should if ports are open, though. It's just that invites are so much easier.

@hexed apex Hosting and Joining have different connections. Perhaps try hosting and hope the people you are playing with can connect, and if that doesn’t work, change hosts until you have a better connection. If you or new hosts have SMAPI, and want to continue the farm you’re already working on, type in “debug customize” then save, and finally exit the game and see it is your multiplayer world now and try inviting those you are playing with that way.

I haven’t done this myself, so I am unsure if you need to demolish and place new cabins.

We also found changing hosts helped us in the beginning but still 40 hours in we have connection issues from time to time. Some times what helps is the host moving to the next day and saving, then the other can join. Sometimes we have endless trouble. Its really hit and miss a lot.
