Yep, the chest disappears after it's been opened (even if you didn't take the item). You should be able to buy the boots from the Adventurer's Guild now though.

@hexed apex @ashen crystal when you want to help for MP issues like these, as a last resort you can ask people to use Hamachi. It can sadly be Steam or GOG's servers not working correctly for peer-to-peer, and sometime be the only solution.
(they just have to connect to the same IP, launch a LAN game via IP, type nothing in the IP field.)

@full knoll we didnt try using Hamachi. I wanted to help him fix the issue and make it permanent. The game menu was different, it was more than a peer2peer connection issue, it was a matter of steam not updating or validating his files properly, as if he had the version prior to multiplayer. You'd have to delete their cabin, which would delete their character too. You can rebuild the cabin after to let someone else in. It's a good idea to visit the cabin first and collect any inventory from the drawers there.

I was able to figure out my issue with the monitor - Apple support actually helped out. Apparently under Display in my system preferences, the arrangement of the two screens was more centered vs aligned at the top or bottom. Once I aligned the top of the screens the issue was no longer there. Weird, but it worked

@hexed apex Hello there. Welcome to the server and the game. All weapons have a special ability activated when u right click: swords block, clubs knockback and damage AoE, Dirks send a flurry of hits forward. Keep in mind they block incoming attacks but only for the duration of the animation, you keep receiving damage on contact while in cooldown. Hope this helps.

update: most things I've seen about your phone + PS4 controller is about rooted phones.
apparently your phone might not be compatible with the PS4 controller by default
When you pair the controller on the phone the device is registered and listed as a wireless controller, however, system doesn’t recognice any controller event (buttons, axis buttons, joystick movement, etc), the problem is related to MIUI because if i install a custom rom (tested with resurrection remix 5.8.5) the system register the controller actions.
You might need to root your phone to make it work, really sorry about this @high lark

There's one thing that happens if you, if I remember correctly, get to 10 hearts with all the marriable characters of one gender. There's a way to avoid it, too, but it isn't really very bad now anyway.
And if you're married, your spouse will occasionally get annoyed when you give something to someone else of their gender. But that's not much of a problem either, and happens whatever heart level you are with whoever.

Hey, everyone! I'm experiencing an odd hitch/stutter every few seconds that wasn't present when I last played the game (before the multiplayer update). I've checked Google for solutions, and it seems to be a fairly common issue that doesn't have a common cause. I've tried a few things, like switching from full screen to windowed mode and repairing the XNA file, but I haven't been able to fix the problem yet. It happens with and without SMAPI running. I figured I'd check in here to see if anyone had any other ideas.

I haven't gone beyond the house and the farm since it started (I've just been resetting the same day every time I try a new fix), but it's happening in both of those places. But I was just in-game again, and it seemed to get a lot better after I changed locations once (e.g., moving from the house to the farm -- it was happening frequently in the house, but when I moved to the farm, it wasn't as bad, and when I moved back to the house, it wasn't bad there anymore, either). I've normally just been staying in the house to test it.

I'll just be walking around, and the game will suddenly freeze (hitch, stutter...whatever you want to call it) for a second, then it will be fine for a few seconds, then the issue will occur again, and so on.

And, of course, as luck would have it, now I can't replicate the issue. You scared it off...for now, at least. 💪 🤣 (I don't think having Task Manager open was the "fix" -- I've had it open before while playing the game, and even closed it once to see if that was the problem.) But Task Manager was showing 546.1 MB of memory and was fluctuating between 4-8%-ish for CPU usage.
I did note once that, when the problem happened, Steam's FPS gauge dropped from 60 to 48 then jumped back up to 60. Also, when it happens, it doesn't interrupt the music. And I've been getting an error in SMAPI about Saves\Backup\SaveGameInfo missing (it's a long error message; I'm simplifying it), but I don't know if that's related.
In any case, maybe the issue has vanished as mysteriously as it appeared. 🤞

If anyone is familiar with SDVE and PyTK, I'm having a bit of an issue with my game. Namely, in trying to transition from Spring 28 to Summer 1, I just get stuck on [PyTK] - Replacing Custom Objects... seemingly forever. I'm currently attempting to remove PyTK and see if that solves the issue, but is that gonna screw me over completely in playing with SDVE? And if so, is there another way around these ridiculously long load times that sometimes seem to hang up entirely?

You can join your own server by using the LAN option and leaving the IP blank. So you could run the server online from Steam but join from a non-Steam shortcut.

You can start two copies of the Steam game without any crack or anything. And no, you can use one game to host and play, IIRC there's a key you press to turn on and off the bot functions.

You can start the game twice on one computer. You may be able to start it (not from Steam, just by running the game exe directly) on one computer and then starting normally on the other. Steam will complain if you try to run a game from Steam on two computers at once.
But there's no need for more than one game anyway, as you can play from the same game you host with, as far as I know.

Steam only lets you run stuff from one computer at a time, so if you had it running from Steam on the server (which you'd need to to be able to use invite codes and stuff), you wouldn't be able to play anything on your real computer without killing the server.

hey guys! I've been dealing with an issue in the game for a little while now and thought I fixed it, but I unfortunately did not :/ everytime I go to click on the stove in my kitchen, the click noise keeps repeating itself fast and my character kinda glitches as well. I was able to stop the glitch by moving out of the house but still don't know how to resolve the issue

Hi, I need assistance in changing my character's name in the android version. I have found numerous places where they say to edit the SaveGameInfo file but changing my name there does not work.
On related topic, I tried to change my money value to give myself head start but the value only changes in the save file interface (selecting your save file) and it does not reflect in game (game still have $500). Any idea?

SaveGameInfo gives me a list of text that I can scroll vertically while the charactername_number gives me a string of text that only scroll horizontally. Not sure if this info helps in any way.

If you only change it in that file, the load screen will probably still show the old name. You'd need to load it and look at the character info to see the real name.

am I right in assuming that SDV does not like virtual resolutions?
I have this weird issue where SDV doesn't always stay at the front of the desktop if I have a virtual resolution active
like the app will come up and the game will play, but when I click the screen, the game minimizes and the desktop responds as if I clicked on whatever window was under SDV
if it's Virtual Resolution, I can live with my native resolution (1080p), but I just want to make sure it's not something else going on

Virtual Resolution lets you set a higher resolution on your desktop and most games (scaled down to your native resolution)

I like using it in SDV because it lets me see more of the map while scaling down the pixels to make it look less pixelly

Demolish their cabin and rebuild it.
Best to go to the cabin first and get their inventory from the dresser there.

Just go to Robin and one of the buttons at the bottom in the construct-farm-buildings menu is demolish. There's also one to move buildings.

yes, but it worked fine before when i was all the way zoomed out
also if i toggle to bordered windowless (screenshot was fullscreen), it uses the monitor resolution 3860x2-something
my screenshots looked like this just half an hour ago
with the SAME settings (i never touched), which was borderless window in 3860 x 2--- at 75% zoom (i have a 225% zoom setting on my monitor)
i tried opening/closing game, and relogging computer

so i can go fullscreen with 1920x1080 resoution and it'll look like how i was playing before (or close)
but as soon as i toggle back to windowed, it shrinks in size like
and if i expand the window/drag it bigger, everything stays tiny still, like so
(and cant change resolution here)

made a new local account on computer, opened SDV with same save file, mods, etc.
and everything works fine, same in-game & resolution settings
but i also have no idea what the implications of this is (something wrong with my local account? i didn't really touch anything though...) so any insight is appreciated :C

Hey @leaden sphinx sorry you're having so many issues, we're going to fix that
Can you hit your Windows key and R at the same time on your keyboard, then type %appdata%
Look for the Stardew Valley folder, and delete 'startup preferences'
And it will be fixed!

@sand saffron People on PC can play together, but you can't play with anyone on other systems unfortunately, so no.
@serene axle You're right that uninstalling the app will cause you to lose your saves, although not if you back them up first. https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Saves for more info on that.
