I can't find any info on a glitch like this. I noticed that a single slot was open in the second row, went to buy the 2000g bp upgrade but the 10,000g upgrade was already sitting there. after purchasing that upgrade, I am still missing slots

ok, so on my old broken laptop, on the HDD, my SDV modded saves are on there. As it was Windows, and the drive is labelled C:, would it cause any issues putting the HDD in my new PC, even though there would be two C:\ Drives? (cos I am unable to format the old HDD).

No there will not be any issue. If you put it in the working computer it will assign it the next available drive letter D, E etc
The only thing that would happen is that you have OS files on both your C drive and the HDD out of the laptop @solar drift

I'm not 100% sure you can even put a laptop disk into a PC tho
but yeah C is what your OS calls the main drive, not what the drive itself wants to be called

You can put them in, they are both SATA 3. Just the laptop is 2.5" as opposed to the desktop standard of 3.5"

Coming in a bit late, but you may run into an issue with boot order as (presumably) an MBR (Master Boot Record) would exist on both drives. It should in theory boot into your PC drive first but something to be aware of.

or if you have an external drive that's mostly empty... move meaningful data to external, hard format, plug laptop's drive into PC, move data onto laptop's drive

You shouldn't need to think about boot order as that's decided by your mother board. If a new bootable drive is added it's typically added to the end of the list. @calm zodiac @rocky pagoda @solar drift

why is MBR still mentioned, no modern machine uses a BIOS anymore, they are mostly UEFI based now
although i am unsure about what happens when there are 2 efi partions on diffrent drives

the new drives bootloaders(on EFI bootloaders a .efi rather than code in the boot record) will just be placed at the end of the list and your current defult will still boot

hey ppl. been playing Stardew 4-player on Switch on and off for a while now and we're having MAJOR stability issues. game doesn't show up under local multiplayer so we have to all play online from the same house/IP address (could maybe have something to do with it?). host tends to crash once every few in-game days forcing us to replay the same day multiple times on the regular. at this point we basically just play until it crashes and then call it a night. it's extremely frustrating though... tonight we played the entire fall fair until everyone got their stardrop and before we could end the day it crashed, nullifying close to 45 minutes of playing the fishing minigame. anyone else have these kinds of issues on Switch multiplayer?

Mostly it will stay in the house, but sometimes it will move the main player if needed. For example, the main player will get warped into festivals so they start correctly.

Make sure you follow the setup instructions at https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Player_Guide/Getting_Started#Install_SMAPI. Adding SMAPI as a non-Steam game won't work correctly, you need to change the launch options (on Windows only) for Stardew Valley instead.

Though the game may have already duplicated the horse, in which case you'd probably want to edit it out of the save instead.

It might be something one of the new mods added to your save file. You could try restoring an earlier save from your game's save-backups folder, and see if the lag still happens.

Not always, but whenever there is a freeze, it is after some sort of sync failure, yes.
Considering the game hangs and stops responding, no error log gets generated, so I don't have a clue what it could be. Freezes (and this sync failure) occur when a player joins or after everyone sleeps, around the time when the game saves (Edit: Plus at random, rarely, I believe?)
Doesn't that sound like it's around the times when PyTK checks if the client can handle modded objects? I'm new to modded Stardew so I don't know PyTK too well, but I saw in a post where Platonymous talked about the pipeline and it seemed to hang at around the same spots.

There are occasions where if you wait long enough (probably 20 sec - 60 sec) it will return from hanging. I'm wondering if this sync is being done on a main thread and hanging when sync fails, possibly? When it returns from hanging, all that shows up is another sync failed warning.

@candid shell It sounds like you saw a Steam sync conflict error, and chose to keep the wrong version. If you have SMAPI installed, you can recover the saves from its daily backups.

Okay it looks like you're using the beta versions, and fewer mods are compatible with the beta because it came out very recently
It also looks like you haven't picked which chicken color to use for the blue chicken replacement, and it looks like Coii's Girls Sets Pack and Coii's Basic Shirts Pack and Hair Sets Pack aren't able to work together, so you'd have to pick either one or the other (unless the author has a merged version also available)

Download a mod, unpack the folder, put it in Mods
Anything it requires (like Content Patcher) also goes in there

i spoke too soon about running mods with no erros
when i leave my farmhouse the game freezes for a split second and then crashes
something to do with the grass being missing which is very confusing since i've checked the tilesheets and it's there

Hello. Some Googling says that this is the place to go (or start?) for when I'm having issues with mods in SDV. I run SDV through Steam, and in single player, everything is fine, but when I try to host my friend, the smapi window throws tons of red code and she can't get into my farm. The issue is the game is trying to load Textured's it cant access
Harmony isn't usually the cause of issues. It's the mod that uses Harmony is bugging out. But I don't think that's the cause this time.

So the underlying issue is that your game window is getting resized multiple times in quick succession when you launch the game, which means a new resize happens before the game can correctly handle the previous one. Do you have any settings, launch options, or software for resizing windows or changing game resolution?

Looks like the extra processing for the legacy events pushes it over the edge into lag (though there might be something else pushing it closer towards lag).
The legacy events will be removed in the upcoming SMAPI 3.0 (or the current 'strict mode' downloads), but we haven't finished updating all mods yet.

The _CommonRedist folder was removed in the recent Steam update, there's a shared Steam folder instead. That's probably not the issue though, if it launches the game fine.

@nova current That's because of your zoom level. That's the entire width of that area of the map. If you want them to go away you need to increase your zoom level, however, this gets applied to all areas, you can't just have individual zooms for each area
