I forgot the details tbh but it's caused by it achieving gray with a dithering effect but because there's 3 pigments physically separated it needs to be really smart with what pigment it uses where when dithering

It seems like the ideal solution is instead of using an entire browser, separate out the rendering engine and provide direct c apis for manipulating the document so you can use it with things other than js.

I'm using a date picker component that uses the traditional style with an absolute positioned picker shown at the bottom of the relative input parent.
Then ran into the classic issue where if the parent element that datepicker was wasn't large enough for the picker it'd get cut off by the bounds of the parent

so I wrote my own wrapper for the picker with the popver api

also the nicety that the popover api comes with the ability to close them by tapping outside or pressing escape
