atlas acts like this because hes alone and rejected and ends up hurting people without being able to correctly resolve or recover from it
and because a lot of those he hurts are scouts who've crash on the island... and hes STUCK on the island... he never ends up really fixing or dealing with anything in a healthy way

Not neccessarily a hc but something I noted. Peaklings don't do mouth breathing, which means they have a nose (implied by the hole in their skeleton head). So simply guess is that they have nearly invisible slits in their skin where they breathe. Same for the ears, its like theyre just small holes partially covered by skin (with the exception of those who use the creature ears)
